Ski season starts in... August: European heatwave comes to an abrupt end as snow falls in Germany and Austria

There's been a dramatic plunge in temperature across parts of Europe where searing heat has suddenly given way to heavy snowfall of up to 40cm – despite it still being summer.

About 25cm of snow was dumped on Germany's highest peak, the Zugspitze, where temperatures reached a decidedly chilly 19.4F (-7C) yesterday.

The German Weather Service posted on Facebook this morning that the temperature had plummeted 86F (30C)'.

In a press release, it said that those who ventured outside early yesterday would have experienced a 'pretty cold surprise. With only single-digit temperatures, the heat of the previous day was quickly forgotten.'

It explained that while temperatures last Thursday climbed to 91.4F (33C) in Offenbach, with many people cooling off in lakes or swimming pools, 'the temperature was only 44.6F (7C) around 6.30am on Sunday.

California is burning because of failed, ill-conceived left-wing “global warming” policies

According to Zybach, an uptick in forest fires was first noted in the 1970s, at around the same time legislators began favoring a “hands off” approach to forest management instead of more active management.

In an interview, he explained, “Mostly fuels were removed through logging, active management — which they [the Feds] stopped– and grazing.”

“You take away logging, grazing, and maintenance, and you get firebombs,” Zybach stated.

Recently, experts have studied the issue and concluded California forests are overburdened by trees.

Stevie Wonder says Aretha Franklin was killed by global warming… seriously

Not only is it in poor taste to exploit a moment that should be used to honor and respect Franklin to further his agenda, but he also appears to be ignoring loads of scientific evidence. More than 31,000 scientists – 9,000 of whom have Ph.D.s – have signed a petition that says global warming is a hoax and that global agreements limiting greenhouse gases are actually hurting life on our planet. That petition is backed by peer-reviewed research; it’s not clear what Wonder is basing his own opinion on.

Scientist Rips Into AP Story Blaming Wildfires on Global Warming

The Associated Press is out with a new analysis claiming that “science says” the amount of western U.S. land scorched by wildfires every year increases as temperatures go up.

However, while those things are true, simply correlating two data trends is not “science” as AP writer Seth Borenstein claims. And one expert says the simple correlation is meant to suggest a strong relationship between global warming and western wildfires that may not be there.

YouTube to Scribble Green Propaganda Over Climate Skeptic Videos

A lot of people are worried about giant left wing tech monopolies hijacking the climate debate and other hot political issues. I do not share this concern.

The reason this attempted takeover won’t work is, media giants like Youtube are not true monopolies.

Think about what happened when traditional media giants got uppity. They didn’t dominate the debate when they stopped pretending to be objective, they just alienated former viewers who were offended by their bias. Their arrogance created the opportunity for the rise of new media enterprises, by creating a large pool of people who were dissatisfied with the increasingly open biases of traditional media.

I believe something similar is about to happen to Youtube and other openly biased tech giants.

Analysts Warn We’re Running Out of Resources Needed to Sustain Life on Our Planet

Have you ever heard of Earth Overshoot Day? No? Neither had I. It’s the day each year that we use up the resources that can be renewed within that length of time. This year, it was on August 1st, so for the rest of the year, we’re living on borrowed resources.

It reminds me of the economy and quantitive easing. There’s only so far we can push it until there’s nothing left from which to borrow. While the analysts say this is all related to climate change, a theory that many find dubious, one thing is absolutely certain – they’re right about the looming shortage of resources. And a lot of it is because Westerners are so incredibly wasteful as a society.

Scientist Blasts Media’s ‘Misinformation’ About Global Warming and Wildfires

With wildfires engulfing over 620,000 acres of California, there’s been a concerted media campaign to single out man-made global warming as the primary force behind the deadly blazes.

But that’s not what the data suggests, according to University of Washington climate scientist Cliff Mass.

“So there is a lot misinformation going around in the media, some environmental advocacy groups, and some politicians,” Mass wrote in the first of a series of blog posts analyzing the California wildfires.

10 Terrifying Dangers Of Our Sun That Have Scientists Worried

The Sun has an immense impact on every facet of life on our planet. As the hot, glowing ball of gas that sits in the center of our solar system, it influences all life on Earth and plays a major role in existing conditions on our neighboring planets as well.[1] The Sun has been worshiped by many cultures as a god, and for good reason. Without the intense energy and heat provided by it, life could not exist.

But the Sun also holds many secrets—and some of them are quite dangerous. In fact, a handful have our scientists legitimately worried! Here are ten rather terrifying dangers of our Sun that have some scientists more than a little bit concerned.

National Geographic finally comes clean: Super viral video of polar bear “starving from climate change” was totally fake news

Last year, a pair of photographers from National Geographic captured disturbing video footage of an emaciated polar bear that they uploaded to the magazine’s website with the opening line: “This is what climate change looks like.” There’s just one problem, though: the polar bear’s plight had absolutely nothing to do with climate change, it has now been revealed.

As it turns out, the entire video and corresponding story was 100 percent fake news designed to push the climate change conspiracy theory – a fact that National Geographic now reluctantly admits. But this revelation came after the video had already gone viral, of course, generating more than 2.5 billion views over the past year, becoming the most shared video in National Geographic‘s history.

“We had lost control of the narrative,” claims Cristina Mittermeier, one of the National Geographic photographers who misleadingly stated that the heart-wrenching images of the animal were a direct result of climate change.

SCANDAL: Airport weather stations that record “global warming” temperatures sit directly in the exhaust paths of fiery hot jet engines

If so-called climate change experts are to be believed, the human race is facing imminent and irreversible doom. Man-made global warming, they insist, is raising temperatures across our planet, melting glaciers, raising water levels, exposing oceanside populations to impending disaster, and creating scary new weather patterns. As proof of their doomsday prophecies, these “experts” provide reports from weather stations which supposedly prove that temperatures are continuing to rise at an alarming rate.

But can these reports be trusted? What if the “evidence” is based on inaccurate data and we’re all terrified for nothing?

What if some of the weather stations used to collect data are right in the path of exhaust fumes from fiery hot jet engines? Or what if these weather stations are located slap bang in the middle of overheated urban areas? Isn’t that something we should know about?

Gigantic iceberg the size of Delaware that cracked off Antarctica last year has stalled: Animation shows how dense ice is preventing A-68 from drifting out to sea

Scientists tracking a massive iceberg that broke free from Antarctica’s Larsen C Ice Shelf last year say dense ice cover has so far prevented it from drifting far out to sea.

An animation showing its movement over the last few months reveals how the trillion-plus ton Iceberg A-68 has shifted as it’s battered by ocean currents, tides, and winds in the Weddell Sea.

While the huge chunk of ice, estimated to be about the size of Delaware, has moved around some, the experts say its surroundings have kept it somewhat locked into place.

Sunspots Vanishing Faster than Expected

May 1, 2018: Sunspots are becoming scarce. Very scarce. So far in 2018 the sun has been blank almost 60% of the time, with whole weeks going by without sunspots. Today’s sun, shown here in an image from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory, is typical of the featureless solar disk:

The fact that sunspots are vanishing comes as no surprise. Forecasters have been saying for years that this would happen as the current solar cycle (“solar cycle 24”) comes to an end. The surprise is how fast.

The solar minimum of 2008-2009 was unusually deep. The sun set Space Age records for low sunspot number, weak solar wind, and depressed solar irradiance. When the sun finally woke up a few years later, it seemed to have “solar minimum hangover.” The bounce-back Solar Max of 2012-2015 was the weakest solar maximum of the Space Age, prompting some to wonder if solar activity is entering a phase of sustained quiet.

An Inconvenient Truth: Greenhouse Gas Emissions Are Falling Under Trump

Environmental data for 2017 are pouring in, and the results might not be what you’d expect.

In the United States, where President Trump has promised to unshackle the coal industry and to abandon an international climate change treaty, greenhouse-gas emissions fell last year and are expected to continue falling.

In Europe, where political leaders consider climate change an urgent priority, emissions rose last year.

In the United States, a report released last week by the Rhodium Group says that even though Trump “continues to unravel Obama-era climate and clean energy policies,” falling costs of renewable energy and natural gas are “keeping U.S. greenhouse gas emissions on the downswing.”

The latest government data show emissions have fallen 12 percent from 2005 to 2016. The Rhodium Group report estimates that by 2020, emissions will have fallen between 15 percent and 17 percent compared with 2005 levels.

Meanwhile, In The Arctic… [Icebreakers working overtime… Global Warming?]

In a development that could further advantage OPEC members as they step up production to compensate for falling exports out of Venezuela and (potentially) Iran, the Barents Observer is reporting that two of Russia’s largest Arctic out-shipment points for oil and LNG have become “packed with ice” leaving tankers and carriers stranded in the “paralyzed” area, which hasn’t been this packed with ice at midsummer in four years. Experts had expected that ice clogging up the Gulf of Ob would melt with the summer months, allowing Rosatomflots, the state-owned energy company responsible for the region, to avoid relying on their nuclear-powered icebreakers to clear the area.

30 Years of Global Warming Forecasts all Failed

The Wall Street Journal just published a review of the Global Warming Forecasts for the past 30 years. They have not even come close to the scenarios they put forth back in 1988. On June 23, 1988, the then NASA scientist James E. Hansen who helped to start all this nonsense testified before the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources. He stated that he expressed had a “high degree of confidence” in “a cause-and-effect relationship between the claimed CO2 induced “greenhouse effect and observed warming.” That is how government characterizes something when they are guessing – “high degree of confidence” which was the same words used to invade Iraq who had weapons of mass destruction. He later came out and said: “Simply stated, there is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction.” (August 25, 2002). The CIA Director testified before Congress and said: “We said in the estimate with high confidence that Iraq had them.” see Transcript Washington Post).

Federal Judge Dismisses Climate Change Damage Lawsuits Against Big Oil

A federal district court has dismissed the nuisance lawsuit filed by the California cities of Oakland and San Francisco against five major private oil companies seeking to obtain climate change damages. As I argued earlier, the court made the right decision.

The five companies—BP, Chevron, Conoco-Phillips, ExxonMobil, and Royal Dutch Shell—collectively are responsible "for over 11 percent of the carbon dioxide and methane pollution that has accumulated in the atmosphere since the industrial revolution." The cities asserted that they were entitled to billions of dollars in compensation on the grounds that companies knew that their sales of fossil fuels were damaging the climate. As a result of rising global temperatures, municipalities argued that they will be forced to pay for changes in infrastructure required to adapt to consequences of this warming, such as rising sea levels.

$4 Billion Miami Mega-Mall Moves Ahead, Ignores "Collective Belief In Sea-Level Rise"

Plans for a $4 billion mega-mall to be built on the coast line city of Miami are pushing forward, despite the fact that the city is likely going to have to deal with rising sea levels and worsening weather as the years progress. Or, it simply could find itself underwater within years, if other projections are accurate.

But don't worry - academics at the University of Penn Wharton School of Business have a solution: just ignore the fact that Miami will soon be underwater, because otherwise you could create a panic that could, in turn, slow down tax revenue that the city is desperately going to need to - wait for it - adapt to being underwater.

So in the great spirit of Keynes himself, the project is pushing forward.

The trees, aged between 1,100 and 2,500 years and some as wide as a bus is long, may have fallen victim to climate change, the team speculated.

'We report that nine of the 13 oldest... individuals have died, or at least their oldest parts/stems have collapsed and died, over the past 12 years,' they wrote in the scientific journal Nature Plants, describing 'an event of an unprecedented magnitude.'

NASA finds huge underground heat-source in Antarctic responsible for ice shelf crumbling

A MASSIVE subterranean heat source – identical to that triggering Hawaii’s volcano - has been discovered under the West Antarctic Ice Shelf – a glacial area often cited by environmentalists as a ‘climate change’ disaster waiting to happen.

But NASA scientists have discovered a fiercely hot geothermal heat source known as a mantle plume underneath the Antarctica’s Marie Byrd Land.

In the year 2000 an iceberg the size of Wales broke away from the shelf and the whole of the western edge is famously unstable.

Many environmentalists blamed man-made climate change.

It Snowed In Newfoundland Last Night And The Photos Will Make You Cry

Okay Mother Nature, this isn't funny anymore. As if the record-breaking snowstorm less than two weeks ago wasn't enough, Newfoundland just got hit with even more snow.

Photos are starting to emerge of Newfoundland covered in a blanket of fresh snow. The snow came down yesterday, and continued to fall into the night.

Temperatures in the St. John's and Gander areas dropped down to -8°C with the windchill last night. Needless to say, the people of Newfoundland were not happy when they woke up this morning.

These photos will break your heart, and will make you feel ridiculous for ever complaining about our scorching start to the summer.

Climate Change Has Run Its Course

Climate change is over. No, I’m not saying the climate will not change in the future, or that human influence on the climate is negligible. I mean simply that climate change is no longer a pre-eminent policy issue. All that remains is boilerplate rhetoric from the political class, frivolous nuisance lawsuits, and bureaucratic mandates on behalf of special-interest renewable-energy rent seekers.
