For years, the mainstream media told us that things would get better, and in a lot of ways we did see some improvement. But now the tone of the mainstream media has become quite ominous, and that is definitely not a positive sign. The following are 8 examples of mainstream media sources warning us of imminent economic disaster…

‘Curating our reality’: Investigative journalist Abby Martin takes aim at US media hegemony to RT

A journalist whose documentary series was shut-down by financial difficulties due to US sanctions on Venezuela, has told RT that the US along with tech giants “are curating our reality” when it comes to independent media.

Abby Martin, who until last month hosted The Empire Files on Latin American TV network teleSUR, told Mike Papantonio’s America Lawyer program that recent Trump administration sanctions had “completely ceased TeleSur’s ability to function.”

“The latest round of sanctions,” argued Martin, has resulted in all contract journalists at the company “unable to receive funds all around the world,” while the ability to send and receive funds through Caracas “have also been completely halted.”

“There’s a reason why people like you, people like me work for outlets like RT, like TeleSur,” Martin told Papantonio.

West Wing Witch Hunt: Trump orders investigation into who's leaking in the White House in wake of Woodward book and anonymous New York Times opinion piece

President Donald Trump is ordering a real witch hunt - this one in the corridors of the West Wing in the wake of Bob Woodward's new book 'Fear' and a scandalous, anonymous op-ed on his administration appearing in the New York Times.

He is asking loyal aides to discover who leaked private White House conversations to The Washington Post reporter, CNN reported, but it it likely that will be expanded to attempt to uncover what 'senior official in the Trump administration' wrote in The Times about the efforts from within to thwart the president's 'worst inclinations.'

'Many of the senior officials in his own administration are working diligently from within to frustrate parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations. I would know. I am one of them,' the official wrote in The Times.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I do not see the timing of the Woodward book and the WP Op-Ed as coincidence. I have to wonder if psych war is being waged against Trump.

The instant Palestinians get support from someone who might gain power– out comes the anti-semitism charge

New York Times to pro-Palestinian activists— Drop dead.

Up till now, the news reporting in the Times on the anti-semitism charges against the British Labour Party had been fair and the opinion pieces noxious, but now the news reporting is lining up with the noxious folk. Yesterday’s article datelined London, says that Jeremy Corbyn’s “anti-Semitism crisis” is “largely of his own making” and the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of anti-Semitism that Labour just reluctantly adopted is “internationally recognized.”

Freedom Watch, a conservative political action group, filed a lawsuit against Google, Facebook, Twitter and Apple for allegedly conspiring to limit advocacy by conservatives and those who support President Donald Trump.

The suit, filed in the District of Columbia on Wednesday, named the four internet giants as defendants and charged them with violating Section One and Two of the Sherman Act, the First Amendment, and Washington, D.C.’s discrimination law.

Freedom Watch also accused the internet entities of working with traditional media outlets, including CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times and The Washington Post to intentionally suppress “politically conservative content in order to take down Trump and his administration.”

Britain launches cyber warfare on Russia: Theresa May vows to cripple Putin's spy network in response to smirking assassins' novichok attack on Salisbury

Theresa May will wreak revenge on Vladimir Putin by ordering a covert war on his spy network as she accused two of its assassins of carrying out the Salisbury novichok attack.

The Prime Minister said the security services would target the GRU, the military intelligence unit the pair work for.

Cyber warfare, espionage, financial sanctions and travel bans could be used, sources said. Interpol has been put on red alert to detain the two agents, who use the aliases Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov.

Mrs May has warned they would be brought to Britain for trial if they ever left Russia - but experts have said that Vladimir Putin will personally ensure the assassins never leave the country and reward them with lucrative promotions despite botching their assassination attempt on Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia.

“TREASON?” Trump tweeted in response to the piece entitled “I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration.” The US leader further questioned whether the alleged “Senior Administration Official” really exists, and urged the paper to reveal its source in the name of national security.

“If the GUTLESS anonymous person does indeed exist, the Times must, for National Security purposes, turn him/her over to government at once!" the president said.

Here’s What We Know About the Anonymous Anti-Trump Op-Ed Writer

If you’re hearing the sound of glee in the air, it’s likely coming from whatever direction the nation’s capital lies.

Twitter: Algorithms were not always impartial

Twitter chief executive Jack Dorsey has told US lawmakers the company's algorithms have not always been "impartial".

He said the platform "unfairly" reduced the visibility of 600,000 accounts, including some members of Congress.

But he was unable to immediately say whether a majority of them were Republican, Democratic or otherwise.

Mr Dorsey is being questioned by senators over allegations that Twitter censors conservative voices.

Several Republicans, including US President Donald Trump, have accused Twitter of bias, which the company denies.

"Twitter does not use political ideology to make any decisions, whether related to ranking content on our service or how we enforce our rules," said Mr Dorsey.

However, he said the company had made mistakes.

Federal investigators have provided ample evidence that Trump was involved in deals to pay two women to keep them from speaking publicly before the 2016 election about affairs that they said they had with him.

Small Businesses Flee Facebook After Algos Hobble Revenue-Generating Traffic

Small businesses which blossomed on Facebook are now fleeing in droves, after the social media giant implemented a major change to the platform's news feed to offer content from "friends and family," while hiding "videos and other posts from publishers or businesses," reports NBC News.

While the goal was to make Facebook "more social," publishers ranging from big businesses to cottage-industry blogs have been forced to generate more original content, as opposed to sharing products or affiliate links which are now being suppressed by the Menlo Park, CA company.

Some small publishers have seen their income slashed over 50%.

“One of the Facebook policy changes that kind of went under the radar and it went into effect in February was the branded content policy. And it decreased my income from Facebook by 60 percent, overnight. No explanation.” said Holly Homer, a Texas entrepreneur who runs the Facebook pages for “Quirky Mama” and “Kids Activities.”

Parts of South America, the Philippines and India also experienced the technical issues.

As the Russian hacking conspiracy theorists continue pining away in their relentless attempt to prove Russian interference in the United States 2016 elections, Americans, in general, are unaware of the far more sinister interference taking place right now—in the form of their social media news feeds.

Social media giants like Google, Facebook, and Twitter have gone on the offensive in the past few weeks and executed a full on purge of various accounts they claim violate their terms of use. While it is certainly within the rights of these companies to refuse service to anyone they like, their influence in the political sphere should not be overlooked.

BBC accused of lying in its anti-Corbyn campaign

The BBC has been accused of lying to its audience in its ongoing campaign to discredit the Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.

Listeners of its early morning Radio 4 programme woke up to presenter John Humphrys’ speaking about the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of anti-Semitism, which is at the centre of the row within the Labour Party.

Humphrey’s reportedly said that “almost every country in the world has adopted the IHRA definition and examples of anti-Semitism.” His remark was picked up by listeners and was denounced as another one of “BBC fiction”.

Listeners rushed to correct the BBC on social media to point out that of the 195 countries in the world only 31 have adopted the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism, citing the Jewish Chronicle as their source. Of those only six are said to have endorsed and adopted it fully with all the examples.

In less than two weeks the corporate media and conniving politicians will put on their “Never Forget” pins and release the obligatory condolences to the family members of the 9/11 victims. There will be TV specials and special edition magazines and newspapers to commemorate the terror attack. -- But will these displays pay tribute or raise awareness about the plight of the first responders? Will these photo ops actually question the official story of 9/11? The week-long deification of the late John McCain was quite the deep-state performance: Three “state funerals”(in Phoenix, D.C., and Annapolis) accompanied by the constant clucking of the “mainstream” media about how the epitome of a deep-state insider — son and grandson of U.S. Navy admirals, mass murderer of Vietnamese peasants, “Keating Five” criminal conspirator, friend of “the right kind” of Middle East terrorists, lifelong government employee whose senate office was ground zero for defense industry lobbyists for the past several decades — is somehow an anti-establishment “maverick.” The televised sobbing of the very appropriately named Senator Jeff Flake was rich, as were proposals to name a government building after McCain and the seemingly endless feigned sorrow in the voices of television talking heads.

Google Reportedly Bought Your Banking Data in Secret, and That’s Not Even the Bad News

Bloomberg reports that, after four years of negotiations, Google purchases a trove of credit card transaction data from Mastercard, allegedly for “millions of dollars.” Google then reportedly used that data to provide select advertisers with a tool called “store sales measurement” that the company quietly announced in a blog post last year, though it failed to mention the inclusion of Mastercard data in the workflow. The tool can track how online ads lead to real-world purchases, and that extra data is designed to make Google’s ad products more appealing to advertisers. (Read: everybody makes more money this way.) The public was not informed of the reported Mastercard deal, though advertisers have had access to the transaction data for at least a year, according to Bloomberg.

The Surveillance Economy and Its Discontents

In 2016, Amazon Web Services released Rekognition, a service that lets users analyze digital imagery in order to identify objects, including faces, based on a machine-learning algorithm.

The company has touted uses for this product that include identifying triggering content in images, determining emotions in an image, cashier-less grocery stores (which they have implemented in Amazon Go) — and, most worrisome, “public safety.”

The implications of this technology are eerily dystopian. The software is designed to identify up to 100 faces in an image or video, and can identify the emotions and actions of subjects. In the hands of the police, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) or the National Security Agency (NSA), this poses an existential risk to privacy, oppressed groups, left organizations and any other targeted person.

5 timely reminders that the media think you are an idiot…

The corporate media think we are stupid. All of us. They have as much respect for our intellect or ability to reason as they do for the truth. This is displayed, in size 20 font, on the front page of every newspaper every single day. They paint a picture of an absurd world, and expect us all to nod along with it, blithely accepting their stories as true, no matter what laws of reason – or even physics – they bend to suit their purpose.

The world in the newspaper and on the television is not real in any true sense of the word. Merely a crazy fun-house mirror reflection of the truth. Important features shrunk to nothing, tiny flaws blown up out of proportion. Apparently solid shapes that – on inspection – are nothing but strange plays of light and shadow.

With that in mind, let’s remind ourselves of the kind of completely bonkers things we’re all expected to believe.

Incompetent Facebook Identifies Former British Ambassador as Russian Troll, Deletes His Post History

Facebook has deleted all of my posts from July 2017 to last week because I am, apparently, a Russian Bot. WATCH: Don Lemon To Colbert: Border Policy About Whites ‘Losing Their Privilege’

CNN anchor Don Lemon once again threw off all pretense of journalistic integrity during an appearance on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” in which the two public figures discussed the issues surrounding the border.

As reported by Newsbusters, Colbert and Lemon had no problem blaming the situation on those ignorant white citizens living in border states.

Colbert opined, “One of the things that’s sort of a recurring, distressing data point and theme with this administration is using race as a tool to divide people.”
