French MPs condemn 'authoritarian' plans to curtail gilets jaunes protests

French politicians have approved controversial measures to ban what the government calls “brute” troublemakers from street demonstrations as gilets jaunes (yellow vests) anti-government protests enter their 12th week.

There were tense and heated exchanges in parliament late on Wednesday night, including from rebels within Emmanuel Macron’s own centrist party, as deputies backed giving regional prefects – local state security officials – the power to ban people presumed to be violent from taking part in demonstrations.

Deputies on the left and some on the centre said the measures posed an “authoritarian” threat to civil liberties.

US interrogators are present in UAE prisons in Yemen, the Daily Beast has revealed today, providing shocking evidence that the American military is a witness to the torture of Yemenis.

In a series of interviews, two former detainees have testified to being interrogated by men with American accents, who looked on as they were beaten and electrocuted.

“They would strip me naked, they would beat me very harshly and slowly you start to understand the dynamics in the room. These are the two people, one of them is overseeing the whole interrogation and the other is doing the questioning and ordering the torture,” a Yemeni man identified only as Salvatore said, suggesting that the US was more that an unwilling observer.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Under Gina Haspel's tutelage and leadership of the USA's CIA, it appears that US-sanctioned torture, and US participation in torture, is still alive and kicking (sometimes, literally), and well, at prisons around the world.

And forgive me, but wasn't this the same woman who pledged to the American Congress, and to the American people, that torture would not be used, under her watch as head of the CIA?!?

While Trump’s C.I.A. nominee pledged not to re-start the agency’s torture program, no amount of brutal questioning could get her to say the practice was immoral.

Of course, in retrospect, looking at the lady's dubious, and vilely dripping track record, before landing the "top dog" job at the CIA, it didn't take much intelligence to realize that this was simply another pack of lies she told, just to get that job.

Having chosen this woman as the head of the CIA, it is painfully clear that President Trump doesn't care at all about how things are done in this government; just that the US maintains its economic and weapons hegemony over all the other countries on earth, no matter what that might entail, including the use torture.

What he is pathologically unable to see, is that this vision is rapidly being disrupted by countries choosing not to use the dollar at all in their transactions with other countries, such as Iran and China, and working with local currencies only.

It is deeply disconcerting to me, that President Trump's two BFFs in the Middle East, are the Monster of Yemen, Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince bin Salman, and Israel's Butcher of Gaza, Prime Minister Netanyahu.

However, I think I know why this has happened.

Both men have the supreme power over life and death in their respective countries, and can order hits on alleged enemies just as easily as you or I might order breakfast at a restaurant, and neither country actually has a legitimate Constitution which could, potentially, restrain them from putting other people in harm's way; in some ways, President Trump is a little jealous because of that.

And our weaponry?!? China and Russia are way ahead of the US in terms of working war weaponry that is both cost-effective, and elegantly designed, with which the US military cannot not even begin to compete at the moment.

On Friday, The New York Times continued its long, predictable tradition of backing U.S. coups in Latin America by publishing an editorial praising Donald Trump’s attempt to overthrow Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. This will be the 10th such coup the paper has backed since the creation of the CIA over 70 years ago.

You'd think we wouldn't need any more data points on asset forfeiture abuse, but since many states still allow law enforcement to steal cash and personal property from people never even accused of criminal acts, maybe more data points are needed to show lawmakers why this abhorrent practice should be ended.

The Greenville News has put together an in-depth report on asset forfeiture in South Carolina, culled from asset forfeiture cases run through the state's court system. What it found is unsurprising, but still shocking. The article opens with a small sampling of injustices perpetrated by the criminal justice system.

Cash is king in South Carolina. Law enforcement loves taking it. Under the pretense of dismantling drug syndicates, law enforcement officers are taking money from waitresses, businessmen, and crime victims. Cash motivates law enforcement efforts -- dubious drug-focused shakedowns that are often given far too much credibility by local journalists.

Webmaster's Commentary:

To paraphrase Gertrude Stein, "Theft is theft is theft... no matter who is doing the stealing, as these police departments are so hell-bent on doing.

The United States armed forces said it has killed 24 members of the al-Shabab armed group in an air strike carried out on Wednesday.

In a statement released on Thursday, the United States Africa Command said the strike took place on a camp near Shebeeley, Hiran region in central Somalia.

"Precision strikes are part of our strategy. Strikes continue to help our partners make progress in their fight against the transnational terrorists who oppose peace in Somalia and the region," Director of US Africa Command Major General Gregg Olson said in the statement.

According to the press release, "no civilians were injured or killed in this airstrike".

Webmaster's Commentary:

Somalia is blessed with an embarrassment of riches, in terms of natural resources, yet to be exploited; this is why we see the violence continuing to occur, because this is a struggle for the future of this county, and who will have the power to bring Somalia fully into the 21st century.

One expects such a statement, about no civilian casualties, at the end of a US military press briefing.

I do not believe that last piece of tripe, for one second.

This follows the usual script of attempted pacification of the citizens of this country; the expropriation of various resources to which the US government has utterly no moral right; US-friendly countries only being allowed to develop a marketplace here, the regime being changed,as to be as US centric as possible; and whatever resources a country has, being only sold in US dollars.

A FEDERAL JUDGE in Washington, D.C. has ordered the Syrian government to pay $302 million in damages for the murders of journalists Marie Colvin and Remi Ochlik in a 2012 artillery strike. The decision, issued on Wednesday, marks the first time in the seven-year conflict that a court has declared Syrian forces loyal to the government of President Bashar al-Assad responsible for deliberately attacking civilians.

“A targeted murder of an American citizen, whose courageous work was not only important, but vital to our understanding of warzones and of wars generally, is outrageous, and therefore a punitive damages award that [multiplies] the impact on the responsible state is warranted,” wrote Judge Amy Berman Jackson.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That same bit in that last sentence, should hold just as true for US journalists and bloggers here at home, as it is for reporters abroad.

And she, and the photo journalist with her, had to know that they were operating in a war zone; made the choice to be there; and unfortunately, suffered the consequences.

But what I am seeing here is more demonization of Syria, whether or not this event actually happened, and regardless of whether it can be proven true. It may well be, but that is not the point.

I think that those in foggy bottom are waiting to see what the overnights looked like on this issue, in their quest to martial support for yet another Syrian engagement, even though that may mean fighting Russians on the ground, or in the air, neither choice being a wise one, right now.

We understand by now, that demonization, plus sanctions, are the tell-tale preludes to.... the US military's attempting to kick another country's military right in the proverbial shins.

This would be one of the most vulnerable of all moments to attempt to even be contemplating a US war with Russia on the ground in Syria, and I say this as someone who cares deeply about the current trajectory of the US's foreign and domestic policies.

And the reasons I am saying this are pretty self-evident; our military does not have the weaponry; the troop strength; the money, or the manufacturing to ensure a positive outcome for a US war against Russia in Syria, or anywhere else, for that matter.

Emmanuel Macron SCRAMBLES for control as Yellow Vest protestors plot WEEKEND OF CHAOS

This weekend will mark the 12th straight Saturday of anti-government protests by yellow vests, who complain that the centrist government is insensitive to their needs and demands. The draft law will see protesters who “voluntarily mask their faces” fined up to £13,000 and handed a one-year prison sentence. The provision stipulates that it will be up to the person charged to prove to judges that they did not intend to commit a violent act, and give a “legitimate reason” for covering their face.

But the new law has already sparked criticism among opposition MPs – and even within President Emmanuel Macron’s own centrist movement –, who say the draft bill will encroach on “civil liberties”.

Far-left MPs of the opposition La France Insoumise party slammed the ban on face covering as “arbitrary,” while Socialists said it was “unenforceable”.

Globalists Want Venezuela (As the next jewel in their ugly crown)

The attempted coup taking place in Venezuela right now is very instructive for those seeking to better understand the current geopolitical power struggle, as it is one of the most transparent illustrations of the well-worn tactics employed by the forces behind Western hegemony. -- Ideologies such as ‘socialism,’ ‘economic growth’ and ‘democracy’ continue to be bandied about in mainstream discourse with the highest degree of distortion. This is often intentional in order to justify political and military action that simply enriches the global elite at the expense of humanity at large. The problem is that much of the general public in the West continue to support these tactics by failing to see the thinly-veiled hypocrisy inherent in them.

NewsGuard and Microsoft Team Up To Destroy Independent Media Ahead Of 2020 Elections; Linked To Several Think Tanks, Government Officials

The service NewsGuard, an establishment attempt to silence alternative media and independent media sites, has teamed up with Microsoft to help its effort to destroy free press. Meanwhile, the mysterious firm connected to intelligence agencies and former government officials on their advisory board has also just been linked to Saudi Arabia through Publicis Groupe, an investor in NewsGuard. -- Putting the future of what we believe in anyone’s hands, let alone artificial intelligence, seems reckless; but a system backed by Soros and Omidyar or think tanks and government officials seems like a dangerously stupid idea that can only lead to a path paved toward a road of Orwellian censorship the likes of which even George Orwell couldn’t have imagined.

Science, Fantasy, and Superstition – Gun Control Fails the Evidence Test

Things don’t turn out the way we imagined or the way we wanted. We make good-sounding excuses for bad ideas. Unfortunately, some of these ideas were bad from the start. We were sold a lie because it benefitted some politicians and their special interests. Life is more complex than a politician’s promise. -- There is one thing, however, that we do know for sure. When the government and the criminals are the only ones with have guns, then the elites have all the power. That frightens me. -- Maybe I’m overly trusting. Earlier today, Twitter suspended the account of Jared Beck, an attorney representing the plaintiffs in the DNC Fraud Lawsuit. Disobedient Media has consistently covered the ongoing litigation of the suit, which has resulted in questions regarding a number of deaths, bizarre phone calls, and other unusual occurrences.

The historical significance of the Beck’s suit against the DNC and former DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz cannot be overstated, as it confronts the heart of the actual election-rigging from which the entire Russiagate scandal was constructed to deflect. Despite this – or because of it – the lawsuit has gained remarkably sparse corporate media coverage.

The suit has forced the DNC’s counsel to admit a number of shocking stances, including statements suggesting that the party had every right to choose candidates in back rooms, and even that election-rigging is protected by the first amendment. DNC counsel had the gall to argue:

In First Phone Call, Trump Congratulates Guaido On Becoming President Of Venezuela

President Trump started a Tuesday morning twitter storm with a tweet warning that Maduro will be "willing to negotiate" after the US starves his teetering regime of badly needed funding via the sanctions that were levied earlier this week.

Donald J. Trump

"Maduro willing to negotiate with opposition in Venezuela following U.S. sanctions and the cutting off of oil revenues. Guaido is being targeted by Venezuelan Supreme Court. Massive protest expected today. Americans should not travel to Venezuela until further notice.

But tweeting isn't all the president did. According to Press Secretary Sarah Sanders, Trump spoke with Guaido for what appears to be the first time on Wednesday. A readout of the call revealed that Trump "congratulated" Guaido on his "historic assumption of the presidency of Venezuela," and promised to keep in regular contact to "support Venezuela's path back to stability."

Webmaster's Commentary:

OK, I'm getting intellectual whiplash from this; it sounds as though "negotiations" were what President Trump wanted here all along, and not regime change, which is absolutely the polar opposite from this morning's tweat.

Russia has already pledged to protect its "financial investments" in Venezuela, by whatever legal means is necessary.

Has our President gone completely, barking mad here?!?

Venezuelan Army Defectors Coordinate Over WhatsApp; Ask Trump For "Freedom" Weapons

Defectors from Venezuela's army who are now loyal to self-declared president Juan Guaidó have called on the Trump administration to arm them in what they refer to as their quest for "freedom," and are strongly opposed to the United States conducting a broad military intervention.

Two former soldiers, Carlos Guillen Martinez and Josue Hidalgo Azuaje, who live outside the country, told CNN they are in contact with hundreds of willing defectors who want US military assistance in their revolt against the Maduro regime.

As Venezuelan soldiers, we are making a request to the US to support us, in logistical terms, with communication, with weapons, so we can realize Venezuelan freedom," Guillen Martinez told CNN.

Hidalgo Azuaje said: "We're not saying that we need only US support, but also Brazil, Colombia, Peru, all brother countries, that are against this dictatorship."

Webmaster's Commentary:

This has the stale stench of "deja vu" all over again, and to be just a bit Seinfeldian about it, "Who are these people?!?"

They are defining themselves as Venezuelan Ex-Pats, but how do we know?!?

Are they legitimate?!? Or have their stories been invented, and are just fabrications, to justify and support the US's agenda here, which may (or may not)include some kind of outside attempt at regime change?!? And while we are at it, let's consider the yarn "spun" to get the US angry enough to support a war against Iraq?

How the War Party Sold the 1991 Bombing of Iraq to US

The article continues:

In October, 1990, a 15-year-old Kuwaiti girl, identified only as Nayirah, appeared in Washington before the House of Representatives' Human Rights Caucus. She testified that Iraqi soldiers who had invaded Kuwait on August 2nd tore hundreds of babies from hospital incubators and killed them.

Television flashed her testimony around the world. It electrified opposition to Iraq's president, Saddam Hussein, who was now portrayed by U.S. president George Bush not only as "the Butcher of Baghdad" but – so much for old friends – "a tyrant worse than Hitler."

Nayirah, though, was no impartial eyewitness, a fact carefully concealed by her handlers. She was the daughter of one Saud Nasir Al-Sabah, Kuwait's ambassador to the United States. A few key Congressional leaders and reporters knew who Nayirah was, but none of them thought of sharing that minor detail with Congress, let alone the American people.

Everything Nayirah said, as it turned out, was a lie."

I would bet that the US already has forces (maybe a combination of US military and mercs) on the ground, with logistics folks in Columbia, to insure that whatever weaponry gets to the US military people in Venezuela.

Federal Judge Blasts "Criminal" PG&E's "Clear-Cut Pattern Of Starting Fires"

After rallying in the 'good' news that the company has entered Chapter 11, PG&E's stock is lower today, not helped by a federal judge's comments slamming the triple-bankrupt utility for serially starting fires.

Following a series of massive fires along its 125,000 miles of power lines over the last two years, Bloomberg reports that U.S. District Court Judge William Alsup - who is overseeing PG&E’s probation for safety violations that led to felony convictions for the 2010 explosion of one of its gas pipelines, which killed eight people - didn’t back down from his criticism of the utility despite being told he had overreached.

“Usually a criminal on probation is forthcoming and admits what they need to admit. You haven’t admitted much,” Alsup told lawyers for the company at a hearing Wednesday in federal court in San Francisco.

“There’s a clear-cut pattern here: that PG&E is starting these fires.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

But the question for me, is not about the damage here, which was staggering; but I have to ask, which executive of PG&E will wind up going to jail for this?!?

The short answer is: no one; the elite seldom eat their own.

FBI Arrests 2nd Chinese National For Stealing Trade Secrets From Apple

Nothing puts a damper on trade talks like another indictment accusing a Chinese national of doing the exact thing (corporate espionage and stealing US trade secrets) that senior Trump Administration officials have been warning would be a deal-breaking for future negotiations.

Days after the US filed a sweeping indictment against Huawei that included charges its engineers stole trade secrets from T-Mobile (allegations that were also the subject of a civil suit) and mere hours after the beginning of high level trade talks in Washington, NBC Bay Area reported that the FBI has arrested another Chinese national working for Apple's secretive self-driving car project - code-named "Project Titan" - for stealing trade secrets. That's the second such arrest in six months (readers can find our report on the earlier arrest, which happened in July, here).

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am having a Jean-Luc, double face palm, upon reading this.

Please remember that trade wars have a way of morphing into shooting wars, which I hope to heck will not happen, giving the dramatic escalation of events this last two weeks.

A picture and its story: A boy injured in clashes in Gaza

More than two weeks after a projectile struck Mohammad An-Najjar’s right eye during a Gaza border protest, the 12-year-old boy has only just learnt that he will never see through it again.

Lamia Abu Harb said that Palestinian medics told her that her son may need a glass eye.

The doctor who treated Najjar told Reuters that his retina was damaged beyond repair in the Jan. 11 incident, the aftermath of which was captured on camera by Reuters photographer Ibraheem Abu Mustafa.

As the clashes between Gaza protesters and Israeli troops intensified, Palestinians said Israeli soldiers fired towards protesters, who hurled stones at them and rolled burning tires at the border fence.

Switching between lenses for distance shots and close-ups, Abu Mustafa began taking images. Some protesters covered their faces with T-shirts to protect against tear gas as some others ran away.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Until a global BDS movement gets its legs, children like Najjar are going to continue to risk violence and death.

I would imagine that the IDF soldier who shot him, is cursing himself (or herself) for not aiming that shot lower....lower enough to have stopped the kid's heart.

And I would like to remind Israel's Knesset of the late President Kennedy's cogent, and almost prophetic, observation: "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable."

US, Taliban ‘finalise draft deal’ to end 17-year-long Afghan conflict

Taliban officials said US negotiators on Saturday agreed a draft peace deal stipulating the withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan within 18 months of the agreement being signed.

The details were provided to Reuters by Taliban sources at the end of six days of talks with US special peace envoy Zalmay Khalilzad in Qatar aimed at ending the United States’ longest war.

They have yet to be confirmed by US officials nor has either side released an official statement. Officials at the US embassy in Kabul were not immediately available for comment.

Khalilzad is heading to the Afghan capital Kabul to brief President Ashraf Ghani after the longer-than expected talks, the sources and a diplomat said.

The new populism European Union Europe 'coming apart before our eyes', say 30 top intellectuals

Liberal values in Europe face a challenge “not seen since the 1930s”, leading intellectuals from 21 countries have said, as the UK lurches towards Brexit and nationalists look set to make sweeping gains in EU parliamentary elections.

The group of 30 writers, historians and Nobel laureates declared in a manifesto published in several newspapers, including the Guardian, that Europe as an idea was “coming apart before our eyes”.

“We must now will Europe or perish beneath the waves of populism,” the document reads. “We must rediscover political voluntarism or accept that resentment, hatred and their cortege of sad passions will surround and submerge us.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

To equate those people who are concerned about the trajectory of the EU, and the ways in which Brussels is stepping on ordinary citizens' toes by requiring an inordinate amount of paperwork and regulations on everything, plus enforced migrations of immigrants with pre-Hitler Germany, is complete codswallop.

And yes, the names of these signatories to this document, and what they have brought to the table, in terms of artistic and other endeavors, is a very incredible, and brilliant, collective CV.

But I have to wonder; have any of these people actually run a business, in the current regulatory environment, with Big Brother Brussels watching every move?!?

Have any of them had to live with the on-going tragedy of their children being beaten, viciously, or worse, by immigrants who believe that they can do this with impunity?!?

The short answer is, most probably not.

I think that the concept of Europe should not be discarded, but needs to be revisited, and reimagined.

That will involve a very thorough, and soul-searching, evaluation of immigration, and think that Australia's policy here might be the basis for such a program in the EU.

Australia allows people to live in that country, and ultimately become citizens on a merit system.

In other words, what skills, values, and professional services, does the immigrant have?!? Are they fluent in English? Are they willing to live, in good faith, around people whose political and religious affiliations may not be their own?!? Are they willing to assimilate?!?

Many years ago, we met a very bright, nice guy who would be the "poster child" for a great immigrant.

He is Muslim; highly well-educated, a great computer animator, who ultimately married a Buddhist, and they named their little Girl Sarah, the name of the wife of Abraham, and mother to Isaiah, in the Old Testament.

This is the kind of resident/citizen this country really needs.

There is nothing wrong with a "merit system", and looking for the best and brightest people to become citizens, because this kind of a system is an "intelligent investing" in that country's future.

But as a European, with Brussels breathing down your back, and mandating that countries take in specific number of refugees who cannot speak the language of their host countries; refuse to learn it; have no marketable skills whatsoever; are bringing diseases to your country which have been dormant for decades; and threaten to kill or hurt you, because you will not change your religion to theirs, would you be happy about the situations in Europe, where certain areas are "no go", for fear of violence?!?

IF the EU had handled the immigration issue better, there would be no calls for Brexit, Frexit, or Drexit in Europe.

People deserve a right to be fully represented by all levels of government as and the EU is not listening to them on this issue at all, because they can, and right now, with impunity.

So, I will put it to you, EU; when does your management become accountable to the people of Europe, by way of clear and fair elections to this office?!?

As we both know, this is only apt to happen when pigs become aerodynamic; and EU, THERE's your problem. Fix it; reimagine it; and please, not one more bureaucratic law until this issue has been sorted.

You're welcome :-) !!!!

Lavrov: US policy aimed at toppling Venezuela’s government

Exempting US companies from the Venezuela sanctions is proof that the US is gunning for regime change while seeking to maximize profits, Lavrov said. Washington and its closest allies are openly pursuing a policy aimed at overthrowing the legitimate authorities in Caracas, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday.

Russian companies may face risks in Venezuela.

Russian contracts to be revised if Maduro is ousted, predicts analyst

"We are concerned about what the US and its closest allies are doing with respect to Venezuela, brazenly violating all imaginable norms of international law and actually openly pursuing the policy aimed at overthrowing the legitimate government in that Latin American country," the minister said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Lavrov, unfortunately, is absolutely correct in his assessment.

And I hope (and pray) that the US Government will now back down, out of sheer embarrassment, for the utter stupidity of this brazen attempt to regime change Venezuela.

Of course, just because something would be the most idiotic, ham-fistedly, pig-headedly the US government could do, is no guarantee that they will not do it.

If we start to see riots in the streets of Caracas, I think we will most likely have to figure that failing regime change with Plan A, the US and its minions are going to try to create a civil war in Venezuela, which is Plan B, and already may have the mercs standing by to make that happen, perhaps massing at US bases in Columbia (of which we know there are several.)

Stacey Abrams: Georgia Democrat to respond to Trump State of the Union

Stacey Abrams, a Democrat who narrowly lost the Georgia governor race in 2018, is set to respond to President Donald Trump's State of the Union speech.

She will deliver a televised rebuttal after Mr Trump's joint address to Congress on 5 February. His speech was delayed due to the government shutdown.

The opposition party traditionally responds to the president's annual message directly after the speech.

The Democratic rising star tweeted on Tuesday she was "honoured".

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is certainly an interesting choice, perhaps even brilliant in its trajectory on the part of the Democrats. She is bright, gifted in many ways, and a trail blazer, and I respect that greatly.

Having said that, however, I hope that she will really take notice of the truth in her rebuttal, about what President Trump promised he would do for this country, which he has not yet done, and where he may have lead this country astray, such as the US withdrawal from the P5+1 deal with Iran.

I also hope that there is a statistician in her camp, who can help her talk about the real unemployment numbers, as opposed to those from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which are consistently a compendium of lies, because of how those "unemployed" are counted.

Ms. Abrams, I have just given you a gift; please run with it.

According to a recent article in the Wall Street Journal, Walgreens, food and alcohol distributors want to spy on shoppers who purchase items from refrigerated coolers.

"Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. is testing a technology that embeds cameras, sensors and digital screens in the cooler doors in its stores, a new network of “smart” displays that marketers can use to target ads for specific types of shoppers."

"Around 15 large advertisers have signed up to test the Cooler Screens platform, including Nestlé SA, MillerCoors LLC and Conagra Brands Inc."

Cooler Screens, a company funded by Microsoft, uses face-detection technology to allegedly only detect a person's age and gender. But as you will see, Microsoft is doing much more than just funding Cooler Screens.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I don't know about you, but understanding what is being done, without my knowledge and clear expression of consent, is an absolute abomination, against which I am (theoretically) protected by the 4th Amendment to the Constitution.

Unfortunately, that protection appears to be getting erased from conscious memory more and more, by a government which wants us to forget it ever existed.

Before the fateful day of January 22, fewer than one in five Venezuelans had heard of Juan Guaidó. Only a few months ago, the 35-year-old was an obscure character in a politically marginal far-right group closely associated with gruesome acts of street violence. Even in his own party, Guaidó had been a mid-level figure in the opposition-dominated National Assembly, which is now held under contempt according to Venezuela’s constitution.

But after a single phone call from from US Vice President Mike Pence, Guaidó proclaimed himself as president of Venezuela. Anointed as the leader of his country by Washington, a previously unknown political bottom dweller was vaulted onto the international stage as the US-selected leader of the nation with the world’s largest oil reserves.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Having been banned from leaving the country, Juan Guaidó may well be tried by the Maduro regime for treason, and either shot, or executed in an other manner, before he has time to fully account for how this US-centric imposter came to power.

After the governor and the chief issued their statements of support for the officers and asked folks to keep them in their thoughts, Houston Police Officers’ Union President Joe Gamaldi went on the offensive, noting that “we’ve had enough!”

“We are sick and tired of dirt bags trying to take our lives when all we’re trying to do is protect this community and our families,” he said. “Enough is enough.”

While it is entirely acceptable for an officer to be angry and voice their opinion about criminals who try to shoot them, Gamaldi then took it a step further and went after people who may just be critical of police. He then threatened that they will be “tracking” these people who are critical of cops.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There are police who do their jobs excellently well.

That being said, there are moments when perhaps police officers are not living up to such lofty expectations, particularly if they had the experience of IDF training, which, in this country, translates to the police treating suspects... like the IDF treats the Palestinians.

So I would like to politely say to Joe Gamaldi, that I would never paint the police as "my enemy", because a lot of work they do, is both dangerous and necessary in order to get the bad guys out of our streets and neighborhoods.

I would, instead, suggest that laws in this country be changed, to decriminalize drugs, as has the country of Portugal. Portugal
decriminalized drugs

Now, the outcome hasn't been necessarily a complete success; but it has paved the way for a more enlightened, sensitive treatment of people using drugs, and that is a win for the entire society.

Russia, which stands by Nicolas Maduro in the ongoing Venezuelan political crisis, will use “all available legal mechanisms” to defend its interests in the Latin American country, in which Russian oil giant Rosneft has invested and extended loans to Venezuela’s state oil firm in exchange for crude oil deliveries.

Russia will defend its interests in Venezuela within the international law using “all mechanisms available to us,” Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, told Russian media on Tuesday.

Russia has kept close ties with Maduro and has extended loans to Venezuela, including oil firm Rosneft lending money to Venezuela’s state-held firm PDVSA. Rosneft has extended US$6 billion of loans to PDVSA, which needs to be fully redeemed in crude oil supplies by the end of this year.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unless President Trump is willing to go head to head with Russia in Venezuela to create a "Trumpian Spring" here, I think he has blinked and lost this one.

President Trump, how, please, do you think you are going to make sanctions stick against PDVSA?!? A military blockade?!? An invasion of mercs, courtesy of Erik Prince's current outfit, Academi?!?

I have to confess, this is one of the most painfully, blatantly idiotic attempts at "regime change" I have ever seen this lifetime, and trust me, that would be a lot of attempts in almost 70 years.

If the US government is unable to "turn" the Venezuelan military to its objectives, this was over far before it started.

That someone in the bowels of power in DC could ever think that this coup attempt would be a "slam-dunk", with the Venezuelan people throwing roses at our Mercs' feet, should be fired, immediately, and shown the door.

Mr. President, you are in dire need of someone you can trust to give you the real info, because to date, your attempt to regime change in Venezuela has been an epic, abominable fail.

Unless the US can manufacture a civil war here, any legitimacy left to Juan Guaidó's attempted power grab will most likely start to fail like a house of cards, blown over by a light gust of wind, and we may well see him locked up indefinitely, courtesy of this stupidity, or tried as a traitor to his country.

Oh, and Mr. President, in case you haven't been apprised of this little development:

All travel banned for Venezuelan Opposition

You're welcome, sir.

Perhaps the only people less worthy of receiving a bonus of any kind than the Moody's and S&P analysts who as recently as three weeks ago rated now bankrupt PG&E as investment grade is the management of PG&E, which one year after the most destructive fire in California history sparked, literally, another "most destructive fire in history" with no hedges or fallbacks in place. And yet as part of its first day bankruptcy motion, the California utility that filed for bankruptcy early on Tuesday is seeking to pay employees about $130 million in performance bonuses for last year, an amount which is due to be paid in March 2019.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"Performance bonuses"?!?!?

Are you flipping kidding me?!?

The people whose lackadaisical "oversight" which led to the conditions which sparked this fire, should not be getting bonuses; they should be cooling their collective heels in a Federal Penitentiary, and NOT a "Club Fed" either.

Because if in fact these bonuses are paid, this is a signal to any other public or private utility in this country, that they can cause the greatest damage in the world, and never be held responsible.

In a way that almost sounds ridiculous.

But oil thieves have been drilling holes in Mexico’s extensive network of oil and gas piplelines across the country to steal fuel and sell it on the black market.

State-owned oil company PEMEX found more than 12,500 illegal holes in the pipelines last year.

And these oil thieves went as far as building a 2-mile long pipe themselves to divert oil directly from the refineries.

Selling oil on the secondary market is a highly lucrative business in Mexico. And some farmers who take up a job as lookouts for the thieves can earnmore than five times their regular income doing so.

The work is also incredibly dangerous… more than 80 people recently died in a pipeline explosion north of Mexico City when they were trying to siphon off gas.

But Mexico’s new president has decided to do something about this.

And in typical, political brilliance, he ordered the pipelines to be shut down.

Webmaster's Commentary:

How can it be that someone so pig-ignorant of basic economics get themselves elected to high office?!?

Of course, people in this country have no room to talk about crooked elections; in 2016, we had one candidate who had more geopolitical baggage than does Kim Kardashian on a photo shoot, and the other, a man brilliantly adept at invoking the rage of those who got left behind, economically, when their jobs in this country were offshored or outsourced, but turned against them, once president, in a complete, and utterly devastating transformation into an Israeli-centric warhawk, threatening Russia, Iran, and China, all in the same breath.

On January 1st, a California law went into effect turning long-shielded police misconduct records into public records. Prior to its enactment, at least one law enforcement agency executed a mass purge of older records, preemptively stunting the law's effectiveness.
The law has also faced legal challenges from California police unions and law enforcement agencies seeking a declaration that the law is not retroactive and PDs should only have to release misconduct records created past the date of the law's effectiveness. The state Supreme Court declined an invitation to review the law, but three police unions in Contra Costa County have managed to secure a temporary restraining order while this aspect of the law is sorted out.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There must be some pretty awful situations, to make Cali police believe that they have better expunge some of this records, and quickly.

A new “low-yield” US warhead is less powerful than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima but more capable of igniting a nuclear conflict than bigger nuclear weapons, analysts believe.
Dubbed W76-2, the weapon is now being produced by the Pantex plant in Texas, according to Donald Trump’s nuclear posture review which he signed last year. The Trump administration – whose boss has already shown a fixation on building up nukes – claims the new “low-yield” warhead would give the US a more “flexible” deterrent.

The new “mini-nuke” has less velocity than the Hiroshima bomb as it was designed by taking away one stage from the original two-stage W76 thermonuclear device usually mounted on Trident ballistic missile. The new warhead’s explosive power was reduced from 100 kilotons of TNT, to around five.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I wish this government was far less concerned with making more bombs than taking care of the huge infrastructure problems in this country, which are, in and of themselves, frightening enough.

Our roads are a mess; our children are not getting educated in schools to understand what comprises critical thinking; our public libraries and hospitals are crumbling; and our Vets are sleeping rough in our streets.

The epic race to "enrage, rather than engage", appears to be on, full tilt buggy.

But the rush to re-arm, means that funding which should have taken care of these horrific problems, will not happen any time soon.

Just four months ago President Trump said at the UN: “I honor the right of every nation in this room to pursue its own customs, beliefs, and traditions. The US government doesn’t give a shit about the Venezuelan people; if it did it wouldn’t be crushing them with starvation sanctions. It isn’t about freedom, and it isn’t about democracy. The US backs 73 percent of the world’s dictatorships because those dictators facilitate the interests of the US power establishment, and a leaked State Department memo in 2017 spelled out the way the US government coddles US allies who violate human rights while attacking nonconforming governments for those same violations as a matter of policy.

In a blog post posted Friday, YouTube said it will begin to reduce recommending "borderline content and content that could misinform users in harmful ways – such as videos promoting a phony miracle cure for a serious illness, claiming the earth is flat, or making blatantly false claims about historic events like 9/11."

The most high-profile conspiracy theorist, Alex Jones, was banned by YouTube in 2018, along with Apple, Stitcher, Facebook and others over concerns about his content, including videos that questioned whether the killings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012 were real.

So, if YouTube viewers were searching for news accounts of an event like Sandy Hook, they could have seen InfoWars pop up after a string of videos from CBS, ABC and the like. The YouTube algorithm picks videos based on your viewing and search histories in an auto play mode, with suggestions for others videos to watch as well.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is happening faster than almost anyone is realizing.

As I noted in a previous post this morning, there is a chilling historical anecdote to this, and that is, What did Adolph Hitler do before the first shots of World War II were fired?!?

He made absolutely certain that he had total control over the media, so that whatever went out was to be observed as both official and true, leaving no space for a logical, reasonable criticism or rebuttal, of what he was doing.

And if you would like some insight into an organisation this government, You Tube, and Google hate, with a passion I cannot begin to describe, it is this:
Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth. Here is their website:

These people are the polar opposite of illogical, or having the proverbial "axe to grind"; these are educated, responsible professionals who have a very powerful, scientific presentation of an alternative description of what happened when Building 7 went down.

The right-wing opposition leader that the United States is trying to undemocratically install as Venezuela’s president immediately set his sights on the country’s state-owned oil company, which he is hoping to restructure and move toward privatization. He is also seeking money from the notorious International Monetary Fund (IMF) to fund his unelected government.

On January 23, US President Donald Trump recognized the little-known, US-educated opposition politician Juan Guaidó as the supposed “interim president” of Venezuela. Within 48 hours, Guaidó quickly tried to seize control of Venezuela’s major US-based oil refiner and use its revenue to help bankroll his US-backed coup regime.

Guaidó is attempting to fire the directors of Citgo Petroleum, which is owned by Venezuela’s state oil company PDVSA, and seeks to appoint his own new board.

Reuters described Citgo as “Venezuela’s most important foreign asset”; Bloomberg calls it “the crown jewel of PDVSA’s assets.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Absoflippinglutely unbelievable; if you don't believe for one second, that this is an attempt at a US-generated regime change in Venezuela, you need to think again!!

This piece is part of an ongoing Motherboard series on Facebook's content moderation strategies. You can read the rest of the coverage here.

Leading up to an election, Facebook becomes a battleground. Russian troll farms have flooded the platform with misinformation and memes designed to sow discord, and political campaigns are increasingly targeting voters on Facebook as well. Before the US midterms, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the platform is doing more to fight hate speech particularly during elections: “We will all need to continue improving and working together to stay ahead and protect our democracy,” he wrote in a lengthy blog post explaining the steps Facebook is taking.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. Zuckerberg, a word, please: what we have, at this point in our nation's history, is anything BUT "democracy"; what we have, sir, is a kelptocracy, of the monied, by the monied, and for the monied, period, end of discussion.

Our alleged representatives in Congress are nothing more than corporate/foreign governmental assets, figuring out how to keep the money flowing to them and their clients.

Americans are given the illusion that they really have a choice, during national and state-wide campaigns, when they have utterly no choice whatsoever.

And I say that because by the time names are on ballots, corporations, the US Deep State, and the military have thoroughly vetted those candidates, to make sure that they will get "the best buy" for their campaign donations, both overt and covert.

Critical thinking is frowned up, by the monetary elite, because it may truly unmask the reasons why such an obscene amount of money is spent on defence, and at the end of the day, what our military has in the field underperforms; doesn't even begin to live up to the hype, in terms of capabilities; and the cost over-runs are horrific.

Critical thinking might explain why the US has invaded so many countries around the world.

And trust me, Mr. Zuckerberg, these wars are not about freedom, honor, or whatever is called "the American way of life". When Karl Marx made the observation that "all wars are economic in their origin", he was, and has been proven devastatingly correct, time and time again.

These wars are solely engineered to pursue the expropriation of resources to which the US government has zero moral right, making sure that post-invasion, that country's leadership is US-centric; that only companies with which the US government has friendly relations, be allowed to develop those resources; and that said resources be sold only in the American dollar.

The war in Afghanistan? This has been fought for control over the pipelines, rare earth minerals, and of course the poppy fields, which budget "off the shelf, "black ops " for some of the US's alphabet soup agencies.

War in Iraq?!? This was fought over for control over the Iraqi pipelines, and to balkanize the country, which is what Israel wanted to see happen.

The war against Libya?!? This was fought to prevent the late President Gaddafi from instituting a new currency, the gold dinar, which would have been tremendously attractive to a world over the US dollar, which is backed by...absolutely nothing tangible.

The war in Somalia?!? This was fought over vast stretches of the country with as of yet untapped resources in this country. The Google entry on that subject says the following:

Somalia has untapped reserves of numerous natural resources, including uranium, iron ore, tin, gypsum, bauxite, copper, salt and natural gas. Due to its proximity to the oil-rich Gulf Arab states such as Saudi Arabia and Yemen, the nation is also believed to contain substantial unexploited reserves of oil.

The horrific war against the people of Yemen by the Saudi military, which no one wants to talk about, where US troops are aiding and abetting Saudi troops in war crimes?!? This is being fought for control of Yemen's natural resources, which are are oil and natural gas as well as agriculturally productive land in the west.

The coming wars against Iran, and potentially Russia and China?!? These will be fought to prevent these countries from moving forward, both in terms of financial, and military prowess. And in the case of Iran, to expropriate its oil revenue; have it balkanized, and its current governmental structure thoroughly destroyed.

The coming "regime change" in Venezuela?!? This will be fought for control over its huge stockpile of oil surpluses.

Stir; rinse; repeat.

And sir, because you are terrified of even an intelligent question, or criticism coming up at your platform, you have aligned yourself with those forces which are great for the monied, but really lousy for We the People.

And so your choice, after having decided to align with these forces, has translated into the reality that thoughtful, responsible, logical people are not left with "a place at the table" at Facebook.

When Hiram Johnson, a Progressive Republican senator in California, made the statement that "The first casualty, when war comes, is truth", he could not possibly have imagined how that would be played out in the 21st century, in terms of the act of deplatforming people with an alternative, albeit logical, view of the world.

So in closing this rather gentle rant, I have a question for you, Mr. Zuckerberg: do you believe that George Orwell's classic "1984" was a cautionary tale... or a how-to manual?!?

Unfortunately, it appears to me that you have embraced this as a "how-to" manual.

There is a chilling historical antecedent regarding your deplatforming, and it comes to us from the days right before World War II. Do you remember what Adolf Hitler made absolutely certain he controlled, before one shot was fired?!?

He took total control over all information coming in or out of Germany, to insure that there was not one alternative voice left to criticize what he was doing with the German government, or military.

Sorry, sir; but the shoe does fit.

Martin King's last sermon 'Why America may go to Hell' polarizes Americans’ choice: either .01% arrests for Crimes Against Humanity annually killing millions + looting trillions OR earn life in Hell

*hyperlinks/videos live at source*

“And I come by here to say that America, too, is going to hell if she doesn’t use her wealth. If America does not use her vast resources of wealth to end poverty and make it possible for all of God’s children to have the basic necessities of life, she, too, will go to hell.” ~ Martin King, 1968

The King Family civil trial verdict is the US government assassinated Martin. The family’s conclusion is that US government “leaders” acted to prevent King’s occupation of Washington, DC beginning that summer until the Vietnam War was ended, with those funds redirected to end domestic poverty.

Abolish Ghost-banning on Youtube comments

Many Youtubers are having their comments ghost banned (shadow banned) because they are getting lost in the spam filter, or are deliberately being tagged as spam by trolls who leave hateful comments, and then remove legitimate responses.

There should be no limit to how often youtubers can comment, and there needs to be a simple system to make sure that users are not being unfairly banned. A simple process for users to be able to appeal and re-instate their ghost ban needs to be introduced. There needs to be a clear warning to the user that they have been ghost banned, why specifically they have been banned, as well as clear procedures for how they can appeal, or what they need to do in order to avoid being banned in future. It is highly deceptive to ban a user without informing them, and providing no useful procedure for the user to appeal.

Oregon governor supports ‘universal’ gov’t visits for all newborns and their parents

News from Oregon that Governor Kate Brown is on board with a bill which would establish "universal" invasive home visits by state employees to all households with newborns is causing shockwaves throughout the nation.

While the proposed legislation, known as Senate Bill 526, remains in a nascent form with very few published details, it has nonetheless generated great excitement among progressive statists while sending chills down the spines of parents and families who fear increased government interference in their private lives.

The controversial bill directs the Oregon Health Authority “to study home visiting by licensed health care providers.” It has also been given “emergency” status, meaning that action must be taken before the end of this year.

The Banana Republic Of America

Being someone who believes strongly in the Constitutional principles that this nation was founded upon, it truly pains me to have to pen this article. However, I will gladly endure the discomfort if my words motivate even one person to pick up a pen, or perhaps a camera, and get into the fight for this nation’s very survival.

As we witness daily, the forces of evil have seemingly been “poured out” onto earth like some sort of Biblical plague. To say that madness reigns does not fully illuminate the true nature of the trouble that we are currently in as a nation. The word dystopia immediately comes to mind.

US calls on countries to 'pick a side' on Venezuela

Russia accuses US of orchestrating a 'coup' attempt, as US secretary of state urges support for opposition leader.

Pompeo called for free and fair elections as soon as possible in a speech at the UNSC [Johannes Eisele/AFP]
The US secretary of state has called on countries to "pick a side" on Venezuela, urging them to back opposition leader Juan Guaido and calling for free and fair elections as soon as possible in a speech at the UN Security Council.

"Now, it is time for every other nation to pick a side. No more delays, no more games. Either you stand with the forces of freedom, or you're in league with [Nicolas] Maduro and his mayhem," Mike Pompeo told the 15-member UNSC on Saturday.
Russia unsuccessfully tried to stop the meeting requested by the United States. Moscow has accused Washington of plotting a coup attempt, placing Venezuela at the heart of a growing geopolitical duel.

"Venezuela does not represent a threat to peace and security," Russia's UN ambassador, Vassily Nebenzia, told the Security Council.

"If anything does represent a threat to peace, it is the shameless and aggressive action of the United States and their allies aimed at the ouster of the legitimately elected president of Venezuela," he said.

Russia, China block US push for UN to back Guaido
Russia, China, South Africa and Equatorial Guinea blocked a US push for a UN Security Council statement expressing full support for Venezuela's National Assembly as the country's "only democratically elected institution".

Russian Long-Range Bombers Intercepted In Canadian Air Identification Zone By NORAD Jets

At a tense moment of a number of heightened geopolitical standoffs in hot spots where Russia and the west have competing aims, Russian bombers are reportedly cruising over skies near Canada. This comes just as UN Security Council talks are underway over Venezuela at UN headquarters in New York, and at a time when NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg is in Washington DC for talks with US leaders.

Webmaster's Commentary:

OK, folks, just a little later in the story, we have the following announcement:

"An E-3 AWACS, 2x F-22, 2x CF-18 fighter jets from NORAD positively identified 2x Russian Tu-160 Blackjack strategic bombers entering the Canadian Air Defense Identification Zone on January 26, 2019. Bombers remained in international airspace and did not enter sovereign territory."

This is the time to really put the skids to any hype; to think critically; and to try to ratchet down hostilities at this moment.

Mr. President, I am politely sharing a thought with you right now; any attack against Venezuela, could potentially lead to hot conflicts with both Russia and China, and create a global war.

Venezuela's Highest Ranking Military Attaché Flips On Maduro; Urges Armed Forces To Recognize Guaidó

Venezuela's top military attaché at the Washington D.C. Embassy has broken with the Nicolás Maduro regime Saturday, and has urged other members of the Venezuelan armed forces to recognize Juan Guaidó as the legitimate interim president, according to the Miami Herald.

As the Venezuelan defense attaché in the United States, I do not recognize Mr. Nicolás Maduro as president of Venezuela," Silva told el Nuevo Herald in a telephone interview from Washington.

"My message to all armed forces members, to everyone who carries a gun, is to please let’s not attack the people. We are also part of the people, and we’ve had enough of supporting a government that has betrayed the most basic principles and sold itself to other countries," added Silva.

As the Venezuelan defense attaché in the United States, I do not recognize Mr. Nicolás Maduro as president of Venezuela," Silva told el Nuevo Herald in a telephone interview from Washington.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Well, IF this absolutely is true, that didn't take long.

This seems to be set out to a predetermined script, engineered for rapid fire deployment; the other day, when Mike Pence called Juan Guaidó, to tell him what portion of the Venezuelan constitution he could invoke to oust , Guaido claimed himself to be the Interim President of Venezuela.

And today, we get this notice that Venezuela's top military attaché at the Washington D.C, Colonel Jose Luis Silva, announcing to Reuters,in an interview in DC that he could no longer support Maduro.

I have to wonder how easy the US government found it to have him "name his price", in order to get this kind of treatment. I am sure that right now, Silva has had various funds for him and his family, to enable them to create a new life here in the US.

One wonders just what is on the docket for Venezuela tomorrow; violence, or calm demonstrations?!? I know I have said this before, if you are so inclined; the Venezuelan people need that desperately right now.

The Democrats And The Mainstream Media Are Gloating As If They Had Just Won The Super Bowl

For a very long time, we have been hearing that top Democrats and members of the Deep State were going to be arrested and tried for their crimes. -- But that has not happened. -- Instead, it is conservatives that are being arrested, and the Deep State seems determined to take down as many as they possibly can in 2019.

With staged arrest of Roger Stone, justice is DEAD in America

The answer should be obvious by now. Michael Flynn, Paul Manafort, Michael Cohen, and now Roger Stone were all associates of the president, either personally or as part of his 2016 campaign; Mueller is acting on behalf of the Deep State to undermine and, hopefully, remove, a duly-elected president. -- There is no more ‘justice’ in America. It’s dead and gone.

'It's almost childlike': Venezuelan foreign minister blasts European threat to recognise opposition leader Juan Guaido as the country's legitimate president unless fresh elections were called within eight days

Venezuela's foreign minister has blasted a European ultimatum to hold elections within eight days as 'childlike'.

Jorge Arreaza insisted that Nicolas Maduro remained the legitimate president despite pressure from Britain, France, Spain, Germany and the US.

'Europe is giving us eight days? Where do you get that you have the power to establish a deadline or an ultimatum to a sovereign people,' Arreaza told the Security Council. 'It's almost childlike.'

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is obvious that the US government has pushed this timetable on the Maduros Government's questioned legitimacy.

And looking at this 8 days, (or else!)I have to wonder; is this the time the US will need to move troops stationed in South America, and get them positioned for a decap strike on Caracas?!?

Russia blames 'shameless and aggressive' U.S for crisis in Venezuela while Trump's Secretary of State says country was run like an 'illegitimate mafia state' at fiery U.N Security council meeting

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called on allies to 'pick a side' on Venezuela, and described its President Nicolas Maduro as part of an 'illegitimate mafia state' responsible for the country's economic collapse.

Pompeo was addressing the 15-member U.N. Security Council on Saturday, which met at his request after Washington and a string of countries in the region recognized Venezuela's opposition leader Juan Guaido as head of state.

Pompeo urging the U.N council to back Guaido and called for free and fair elections as soon as possible, adding that Maduro must step down.

'Now it is time for every other nation to pick a side. No more delays, no more games. Either you stand with the forces of freedom, or you're in league with Maduro and his mayhem,' Pompeo told the council.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Every time Secretary of State Pompeo spews this kind of codswallop - particularly in public - I am very painfully reminded that citizens of the US are no longer citizens of a democratic republic, but are now the victims of a kleptocracy, masquerading as legitimate country.

Every single action this country does, in regard to international relations, is engineered to return even higher profits to the already monied, while the rest of us are forced to make do with less, just to survive.

Pakistani Coast Guards Reportedly Enter Indian Waters, Open Fire at Fishermen

India and Pakistan have been engaged in a long-standing conflict, with continuous mutual accusations of ceasefire violations along the de facto border in Kashmir, which has been a flashpoint of tension between the two countries for over six decades.

Pakistani coast guards reportedly entered the Indian territorial waters in Arabian Sea, near the International Maritime Boundary Line, and opened fire on two boats with Indian fishermen.

The guards allegedly seized the fishermen’s belongings, capturing as many as 12 people – although they released them later, ABP Live reported.

Fishermen Narrowly Escape Split Second Before Catastrophe (VIDEO)
Relations between the two neighbouring countries have historically been tense, but hit a new low after India accused Pakistan of harbouring gunmen who killed 19 Indian soldiers in the disputed state of Jammu and Kashmir in September 2016. Islamabad has, however, denied the accusations.

Webmaster's Commentary:

To Pakistani President Alvi and to India President, Kovid, a word please; you know why this has kept happening from decade to decade, since the end of World War II.

For years, the Indian government has promised a referendum for the Kashmiri people; unfortunately, this remains a promise unfulfilled even to this date.

It is interesting fact of the Chinese language; the same ideograph can mean either "crisis" or "opportunity", depending upon how it is interpreted.

Gentlemen, the situation in Kashmir offers its current crisis, but does have elements of an heroic opportunity within it.
This will take a great deal of both moral, and professional courage from both of you, and the people who hired you to govern your respective countries.

Please have a meeting arranged for both of you, perhaps in a neutral country, where the beginnings of a referendum will start to take shape, which will allow the Kashmiri people to chose if they want to become independent; stay with India; or become part of Pakistan.

There has already been two much blood spilled on this issue.

It is time for both of you to take a great leap of faith, and begin the process. I firmly believe that whatever happens during this process, will have a long, and positive effect on the relationship between your two countries, and tamper down the mistrust on both sides, leaving the Kashmiri people to breathe a little more gently.

Since the decision of the Trump administration on Wednesday to recognize a member of the Venezuelan opposition, Juan Guaidó, as an unelected “interim president,” the situation in the South American country has become increasingly tense, with efforts to force the current government of Venezuela — led by Nicolás Maduro — out of power having grown in intensity over the past few days.

Despite the enormous pressure his government faces from both local and international sources, Maduro has managed to maintain his position thanks to a combination of factors. These include the loyalty of the country’s well-armed military, in addition to popular support from Venezuelans who recently voted for Maduro, as well as Venezuelans who may not like Maduro but prefer him to a politician hand-picked and foisted upon them by the United States.

Webmaster's Commentary:

On that last statement, you can bet your sweet bippy it will happen, if this regime change attempt does not go as planned!

China and Russia have extensive investments in, and in co-sponsorship of, many projects in Venezuela.

Do you believe that they won't protect those assets, if they see a move toward regime change in Venezuela? I'm afraid that the short answer here, is "HELL yes!"

The researchers who reported that Israeli software was used to spy on Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi’s inner circle before his gruesome death are being targeted in turn by international undercover operatives, The Associated Press has found.

Twice in the past two months, men masquerading as socially conscious investors have lured members of the Citizen Lab internet watchdog group to meetings at luxury hotels to quiz them for hours about their work exposing Israeli surveillance and the details of their personal lives. In both cases, the researchers believe they were secretly recorded.

Citizen Lab Director Ron Deibert described the stunts as “a new low.”

“We condemn these sinister, underhanded activities in the strongest possible terms,” he said in a statement Friday. “Such a deceitful attack on an academic group like the Citizen Lab is an attack on academic freedom everywhere.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

These Israeli companies creating this software, will do anything in their power, to minimize the damage from these revelations.

This is why the BDS movement, is so very critical right now.

A mob of angry civilians has attacked a Turkish military camp near the Iraqi city of Dohuk, burning equipment and vehicles. The incident comes in response to the deaths of civilians during Turkish airstrikes, local media reports.
The incident occurred in northern Iraq on Saturday, when a large mob of civilians attacked a Turkish military encampment located in the predominantly-Kurdish region of Dohuk.

Footage from the scene which surfaced online shows civilians at the military encampment with Turkish military vehicles and tents burning in the background. At least one person died and 10 were reportedly wounded during the incident. It remains unclear if the Turkish Army sustained any casualties - servicemen are nowhere to be seen in the footage.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF Turkish President Erdogan thought, for one second, that the Iraqis were going to "throw roses at the feet" of their new overlords, I hope he understands that he was thoroughly mistaken.

Unfortunately, this is most probably going to cause more Turkish attacks of greater intensity against these Iraqi villages.

And BTW, where the heck is Muqtada Al Sadr while all of this is happening?!? Sir, your Iraqi citizens need to know that you have their back, and right the heck now. And I say this, because Al Sadr is now characterized as one of the most powerful elements in the current Iraqi government, yet holds no office of his own.

I hope that something can be done, to get the Turkish bombing to stop.

But notice; the US government requested, and got, an emergency meeting today at the UN regarding Venezuela.

So, why the heck was an emergency meeting not called regarding the Turkish shelling of Iraq?!?

To paraphrase a line from George Orwell's "Animal Farm";
Apparently, for the US government, "Some crises... are more precious than others."

In a massive move to expose the Food and Drug Administration’s loyalty to big pharma, a top official from within the agency has come forward with damning claims. The FDA has succumb to Big Pharma’s influence and is approving deadly drugs to benefit their industry backers.

Dr. Raeford Brown, who is chair of the FDA’s committee to review various opioid based drugs before approving them, blew the whistle in an interview with the Guardian this week.

Brown told the Guardian that there is a “war” inside the FDA in regard to approving opioids. Brown said the agency has “failed to learn the lessons” of the recent epidemic which now claims tens of thousands of lives each year—around 150 deaths every single day.

Brown’s interview comes on the heals of the FDA approving a horrifyingly strong drug that is 1,000 times stronger than morphine and 10 times stronger than the incredibly deadly drug fentanyl.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As word gets out about how this drug was approved, and any of our military, or their families become ill, or die as a result of taking the drug, look for class action lawsuits against both the US military, and the drug company which manufactures the drug.

"The U.S. had been planning this coup in Venezuela. It was the Trump administration that told the little-known opposition leader Juan Guaidó to declare himself (unelected) 'president.'"

As U.S. lawmakers, civil society leaders, and Latin America experts continue to warn against American intervention in Venezuela's internal political affairs, the Wall Street Journal on Friday confirmed suspicions that opposition leader Juan Guaido's move to declare himself "interim president" of Venezuela this week was highly coordinated with the Trump White House and Republican lawmakers.

"The U.S. is not just 'behind' this coup; the U.S. is openly leading the coup."
—Ben Norton, The Real News

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am watching the Faux crawl as I type this, and what is the most critically important, attention grabbing story they choose to go with at 6:50 AM my time?
Lawsuit Filed to have the ending of the Rams/Saints replayed, after missed call.

No wonder so many people are so incapable of having a critical thought, as to what their government does behind their backs.

But no, wait a minute; this is being done right in front of the public's face; they just need to want to see it.

And THAT, my friends, is why we, as a country, are slouching toward more and more wars, because those who are supposed to be taking care of We the People, are taking care of the governments and corporations which have acquired them, like some kind of assets, to be certain that the "geopolitical game" gets played precisely to bring more profit to the already monied.

Every war, or regime change the US has started over the past 17 years has resulted in a massive, epic, fail. Afghanistan is a mess; Libya is a mess; Iraq is a mess; Somalia is a mess; Syria is a mess; Ukraine is a mess; and Yemen, where the US is complicit in ongoing Saudi war crimes against the Yemeni people?!? Please don't flipping get me started.

It would be very pleasant to live in an America whose painfully honest, slogan would not be be "War Crimes R Us!!"

Unfortunately, however, we have seen the consistent, brutish behaviour of this government, against people who have the gall to live over, or around, resources the US wants to expropriate.

The methodology here is simple, and we can see it in every one of the US government's military misadventures of the last 17 years; demonization; the piling on of sanctions (which frequently have zero basis in fact); destabilization; regime change; making sure that the companies handling those resources are US centric; and that those resources will only be sold in the American dollar.

Stir; rinse; repeat.

And rather than have the maturity to analyze where the country has gone wrong, to prevent these atrocities from ever happening again, it is doubling down on thinking that DC can create regime change in Venezuela, about which they know less than nothing, except for the massive oil reserves the country has.

Venezuelans are a very smart people, with a real understanding of their very rich, and complex, history.

Therefore, I would like to politely, but strongly, caution DC about jumping in here with any kind of "invasion force", as that force will not only be met with the fury of the Venezuelan people, but also by China and Russia, which have intense financial interests here, and will probably react very forcefully, should the US invade Venezuela.

And President Trump, please; a word, here.

As a Christian pacifist activist, I have always hoped that the US could manage to "engage rather than enrage" regimes with which we differ.

But sir, what I am seeing is that we have very little with which to engage.

Our GMO agriculture is a fright, and other countries have learned to manufacture products which are both cost effective, and work amazingly well; if you have an iphone, remember; this clever little gadget, which can do so much for us, is manufactured in China.

Our manufacturing has been offshored and outsourced, and that critical issue has to get fixed; but educating people as to how things are manufactured in the 21st century, and particularly with the integration of AI now, takes time.

The only thing left, in which the world is interested, is our weaponry, and that is already getting shown up by some incredible work in Moscow (brilliantly field tested in Syria, as you know) and Beijing.

So I can see why you, and the people surrounding you, are playing the "enrage" card against countries around the world; that is because it is the only card the US has to play right now.

Military actions against countries on the US government's "to regime change list", may well unleash a world war of epic magnitude, the likes of which have never been seen before, with a devastation potential for destroying most of the life left on earth, including humankind. Talk to the scientists who are privy to this information; I am very sure they will tell you much the same.

I remember a quote from the great genius, Albert Einstein. When queried about what weapons would be used in the next "great war", his response was the following "I don't know about the weapons for the next war; but I do know about the weapons which will be used in the war after that. The questioner pressed, "And what will those be, Dr. Einstein?!? At which point, Einstein shot the guy a look, and said, "Sticks... and stones"

Former U.S. diplomat Elliott Abrams will lead U.S. efforts on Venezuela, where Washington has recognized an opposition leader as the legitimate president, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Friday.

“Elliott will be a true asset to our mission to help the Venezuelan people fully restore democracy and prosperity to their country,” Pompeo said in announcing Abrams’ appointment.

He said Abrams would accompany him to the United Nations on Saturday for a Security Council meeting on Venezuela where the U.S. will press other countries to support opposition leader Juan Guaido as the country’s interim head of state.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Upon reading this, I must confess that I felt a churning tsunami of nausea sweeping across my innards; please, Lord, stop testing, I am unworthy!!

This is the kind of choice which makes me understand, with painful clarity, and as if I already didn't understand, that the inmates in DC have truly taken over the asylum, and refuse to let any voice of reason, responsibility, or logic prevail.

Something wicked this way comes, and most probably very soon. The UN is holding an emergency meeting on Venezuela today, and to hear Mike Pompeo, at his most bombastic, at the microphone, just imagine that everything we have ever done for Venezuela to be the polar opposite of what he is saying the US government has done.

Here are some of the statements he made at the briefing room at the White House yesterday:

Mike Pompeo regarding Venezuela
I am particularly concerned about Abram's CV, which can be found here; Eliot Abrams is a War Criminal.this guy is the Dark Overlord of Dark Overlords, when it comes to designing a misery of hell, damnation, and oppression in those countries where the US either wants to stay friends with a dictator, Like the Shah of Iran, for example, because they have been "useful" to the US, or the US is angling for regime change, because they dislike the current administration, as is the case in Venezuela.

If you have any religious bent of any kind, please start praying for the people of Venezuela; they sure as heck are going to need it, and soon.

Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh has told the media that the national oil company NIOC struck light sweet oil in a hitherto untapped oil region.
“This is the first time we’ve reached oil in the Abadan region,” Zanganeh said, adding that the grade was very light and sweet, but giving no details regarding the amount of reserves contained in the reservoir.

Iran has continued to pursue new oil production opportunities despite US sanctions that have reduced its crude oil exports significantly although probably not as significantly, to date, as planned. As of December, Iran was shipping some 1.3 million bpd abroad, the International Energy Agency said in its latest Oil Market Report.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Looks like ,yet AGAIN, President Trump's sanctions on Iran are crumbling catastrophically, very much like the thoroughly lousy asphalt roads (obviously awarded to the lowest bidders here on Oahu) to which its drivers are subjected daily).

Not only that, but in his "mega-sanction-blitz", he has succeeded, rather splendidly, to drive China, Iran, and Russia closer together economically and politically; and if that was NOT his design intent, he had better wash the chalk off the blackboard, and start from scratch, and quickly.

The United Nations Human Rights Office announced yesterday it is beginning an investigation into the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

In a statement, the UN said that an independent panel would seek to establish “the nature and extent of states’ and individuals’ responsibilities for the killing”.

The UN special rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions, Agnes Callamard, said she would travel to Turkey next week to head an “independent international inquiry” into Khashoggi’s murder in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on 2 October.

British barrister Helena Kennedy and Duarte Nuno Vieira, a pathology expert and professor at the department of legal and forensic medicine at Coimbra University, Portugal, are among the team. Along with Callamard, they are to visit Turkey between 28 January and 3 February and plan to report to the UN Human Rights Council in June.

Callamard said that the findings will be raised at the UN rights office on 19 June.

Webmaster's Commentary:

More sound and fury from the UN, signifying nothing; the responsibilities for the death of Khasshogi will be squarely placed on the "usual suspects" (underlings, with absolutely no power of decision making whatsoever), and the real blame against who most probably ordered the hit (most likely, the Butcher of Yemen, Crown Prince Bin Salmin and his cohorts in the White House), will be left , uncharged, in order to let Saudi Arabia and US continue their genocidal war in Yemen.

Thousands of impoverished Gazans received $100 payments from Qatar on Saturday, the AFP news agency reported, after the Gulf state brought in over nine million dollars in aid funds for the Palestinian territory.

Hundreds of people queued at post offices in the Gaza Strip to each collect a $100 bill.

Palestinian media earlier quoted the Qatari ambassador to Gaza as saying the money would go to Gaza's poor.

"The Qatari grant for needy families will enter Gaza Saturday and be distributed ... to 94,000 families," Mohammed al-Emadi was quoted as saying.

Half the funds would be distributed Saturday and the rest Sunday, he said, with each family receiving $100.

Emadi was not immediately available to confirm the arrangement.

Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that families in Gaza would receive $400 in total, paid in four monthly instalments.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Gazan Palestinians, are some of the poorest of the poor in this region of the Middle East. I seriously hope that most of the money will be distributed as intended, if Tel Aviv is not, at the end of the day, demanding some other perk with which to scotch the deal.

Putting a new face to the Venezuelan opposition then immediately allowed for all sorts of anti-Maduro actors use Guaidó as their man to rally around.

So now that there is a new imperial point-man inside Venezuela the real question is, what happens next?

There are two likely outcomes to the rise of Guaidó, one of which is contingent on him succeeding and the other which would be another complete failure for the imperialists.

Guaidó launches his campaign today following several days or organizing protesters at rallies in Caracas. The protests have already started to turn violent as of this writing with at least four dead and the opposition calling for the military to “rise up” against the Bolivarian government.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am seeing some very dark, dramatic days ahead for the Venezuelan people, as this situation plays itself out.

The key, here, is will Guaido be able to turn the Venezuelan military around to his point of view, and what kind of access to capital infrastructure he may have.

Remember, Victoria Nuland bragged about how much of your tax dollars were used to overthrown the duly elected President of Ukraine. Victoria Nuland Admits: US Has Invested $5 Billion In The Development of Ukrainian, "Democratic Institutions"

I would rather imagine, to obtain virtual control of Venezuela's vast oil reserves through a compromised Head of State, that the US and other vested interests may well be looking at raising the ante to insure that this happens.
