IS THIS THE MOST BLATANT US COUP EVER?

The Venezuela coup currently being orchestrated by the US is so utterly blatant, even by American standards, that large numbers of people are seeing right through it. This is not a black-and-white issue. Yes, extreme socialism can lead to instability and disaster; yes, Maduro is not the greatest leader; and yes, the people of Venezuela are suffering under massive hyperinflation. However, by far and away the largest factor affecting Venezuela now is not Maduro or socialism by rather US foreign intervention.

Socialist Democrats appalled that Trump would call them socialists

Republican efforts to label the Democratic Party as socialists reached a new level Tuesday night as President Donald Trump used his State of the Union address to further that partisan message — prompting groans and grimaces from Democrats.

Here’s How You Can Be Profiled Even If You’ve Never Used Social Media

The days of having a fully (or even mostly) private life are long gone, it seems, and social media is largely to blame. -- Even if you have deactivated all of your social media accounts – or never had any in the first place – your privacy is not guaranteed.

Even with massive, coordinated tech censorship of the independent media, the globalist-funded left-wing media is rapidly COLLAPSING

The left-wing media has done its best in recent times to censor independent media, but the joke appears to be on them as they see their empires collapse. Mass layoffs are being seen across sites like BuzzFeed, Vox, Vice, and Huffington Post as readers take advantage of the many credible alternatives available on the internet today.

No More Groping! Shut down the TSA!!! – Ron Paul

In the 18 years since Congress created the TSA, the agency has proven itself incapable of providing real security, but more than capable of harrying Americans and wasting taxpayer dollars on security theater. Congress should permanently close the TSA and return responsibility for security to private businesses.

FLASHBACK - Google’s true origin partly lies in CIA and NSA research grants for mass surveillance

Two decades ago, the US intelligence community worked closely with Silicon Valley in an effort to track citizens in cyberspace. And Google is at the heart of that origin story. Some of the research that led to Google’s ambitious creation was funded and coordinated by a research group established by the intelligence community to find ways to track individuals and groups online.

The intelligence community hoped that the nation’s leading computer scientists could take non-classified information and user data, combine it with what would become known as the internet, and begin to create for-profit, commercial enterprises to suit the needs of both the intelligence community and the public. They hoped to direct the supercomputing revolution from the start in order to make sense of what millions of human beings did inside this digital information network. That collaboration has made a comprehensive public-private mass surveillance state possible today.

WOMAN CALLS POLICE FOR HELP WHO SHOWED UP AND KILLED HER SERVICE DOG

Jennifer Weir thought she was going to receive help for her stolen property last month when she called police to report a theft. However, when an officer arrived, instead of helping her, he shot her dog Juniper, killing her.

According to Weir, she called the Mount Carmel police after she came home and found several items missing and assumed her ex-husband had robbed her. Weir says her ex has a restraining order and is not supposed to come on or near the property.

When the officer arrived at Weir’s residence, Weir began showing him around the property. When the pair was in the backyard, Juniper, the 11-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier with hip dysplasia, approached the officer.

Weir said that Juniper was only able to approach the dog because her ex-husband left the gate open, which would end up being a fatal move.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This, in a sane world, should never have happened.

And most probably, and unfortunately, it will be citizens of the town who will wind up paying for this, in some kind of lawsuit.

Bur I think that every police department in this country should be mandated to have a fund to pay for incidents like this, so that citizens who had nothing to do with this, are spared financial hardship.

Secondly, this officer should pay the costs for another companion dog for this woman; companion dogs save lives, and training them is a large commitment of time and energy.

Tech giants, social media now run by “left-wing journalist mafia,” warns Bokhari… radical Leftism now controls nearly all “allowed” speech online

Big Tech’s censorship efforts have been the subject of widespread controversy, but as Breitbart senior correspondent Allum Bokhari contends, the tech industry isn’t acting alone. The liberal establishment media has been pushing for increased censorship of their biggest rivals, and they’ve been doing a bang-up job. The independent media was once poised to overtake establishment news outlets.

In the wake of numerous fake news scandals, it sadly comes as no surprise that left-wing media outlets are now “striking back” and trying to silence their opposition. As an overwhelmingly left-wing industry, Big Tech continues to acquiesce to the outrageous demands of liberals without a second thought — even if it means creating a space where only one set of values and beliefs is allowed to be shared and no diversity of thought is tolerated. The sham of “political correctness” has reached its peak — and the liberal media knows exactly how to capitalize on PC culture to get their way.

‘Combating BDS Act’ passes Senate, 77-23, as Dem presidential hopefuls vote No

This afternoon the Senate by a vote of 77-23 passed S.1, which contains the Combating BDS Act, encouraging states to pass laws that authorize economic punishments against those who support boycott of Israel. Faiz Shakir, national political director of the ACLU, says:

The Senate just passed a bill that tramples on the 1st Amendment rights of Americans. The House should refuse to take it up.

The ACLU led opposition to the bill and is already moving on to the House. It reports:

Should the House take up similar legislation, we urge members to remove the Combating BDS Act from the package of bills due to the threat it poses to all Americans’ First Amendment right to boycott…

Google will ‘de-rank’ RT articles to make them harder to find – Eric Schmidt

Crime News Favors Armed Citizens: Defense Of Life, Liberty, And Property Are Basic Human Rights

The exercise of Second Amendment rights in defense of self or others is not a rare or extraordinary event, but a daily occurrence in the lives of ordinary Americans doing ordinary things. However, most don’t use it in defense of the government. But there could come a time when it is necessary. And that’s what makes it a basic human right. No one should ever be enslaved to the point that they have to die or be stolen from. We’ve already seen what can happen when Nazi’s take over and a nation succumbs to complete socialist rule. Not to mention how brutally bad the democide is when communism takes a hold. -- Democide (when governments kill the people they rule over): the largest killer of humans in history other than natural causes. Ignore all of the evidence, the facts, and the truth to your own detriment. History has a bad habit of repeating itself.

The Most Depressing Stat Of The Month: The U.S. National Debt Is About To Pass The $22 Trillion Mark

The U.S. national debt is wildly out of control, and nobody in Washington seems to care. According to the U.S. Treasury, the federal government is currently $21,933,491,166,604.77 in debt. -- In just a few days, that figure will cross the 22 trillion dollar mark. Over the last 10 years, we have added more than 11 trillion dollars to the national debt, and that means that it has been growing at a pace of more than a trillion dollars a year. To call this a major national crisis would be a massive understatement, and yet there is absolutely no urgency in Washington address this absolutely critical issue. We are literally destroying the financial future of this nation, but most Americans don’t seem to understand the gravity of the situation that we are facing.

Outbreak Of Flea-Borne Diseases Typhus: Los Angeles Descends Into Third World Hellscape

Residents and officials in the city of Los Angeles, California are horrified that their city has descended into a third world hellscape of poverty and disease. The typhus outbreak raging through the city is a flea-borne disease often reserved for socialist and poverty-stricken dystopias such as Venezuela.

But that’s modern Los Angeles. Typhus is spread by fleas hitching a ride on rats. While the general population struggles under the weight of the government (local, state, and federal in LA’s case) and the homeless population continues to climb up, the same cannot be said for the rats that carry fleas the cause typhus. The rat population in LA is doing just fine, however, as piles of garbage dot the cityscape, making it Thanksgiving Day every day for the city’s fat, happy rodents, wrote the American Thinker.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I had family in Greater Los Angeles, which have migrated to the mid-west, and I am delighted that they have.

I hope that the local, and national health workers will be able to jump on this outbreak; not being able to do this has horrific potential consequences for the national as a whole.

Iran warns Israel of a "firm response" if it continues attacking targets in Syria - Fars news

The secretary of Iran's National Security Council warned Israel on Tuesday of a firm and "deterrent" response if it continued attacking targets in Syria.

"If these actions continue, we will activate some calculated measures as a deterrent and as a firm and appropriate response to teach a lesson to the criminal and lying rulers of Israel," Ali Shamkhani was quoted as saying by Fars news agency. Webmaster's Commentary:

Unfortunately, it appears that what Syria's Secretary of Iranian National Security has done, has been to nearly guarantee another Israeli bombing raid against Syria.

Maduro Asks International Community to End US’s Threats of War

Venezuela will not allow foreign soldiers to invade, President Nicolas Maduro said calling for dialogue with opposition forces during a televised speech Monday.

“Che, Fidel, Chavez, they are our heritage, they give us strength,” the Bolivarian head of state said, reminding the crowd of supporters of the country’s past struggle for independence dating back to the colonial era to present day.

Since the attempted coup on Jan. 23 led by opposition lawmaker Juan Guaido, the United States has aligned its forces with the self-proclaimed “interim president,” declaring his unconstitutional claim legitimate, triggering similar calls from its allies around the world and in South America.

Maduro said,

“When our Comandante Chavez passed away, I became president, but my first act was to hold elections. I wasn’t going to govern without elections…why has Sanchez Castejon governed for so long in Spain without convening elections?

Webmaster's Commentary:

As of late last month, Russia has already sent 400 of their elite Special Forces, the Spetsnaz, now embedded with Venezuela's military elite.

IF the US government goes for a decap strike against Caracas, they will not be greeted "with roses at their feet." The Venezuelans are a very proud people, with an incredible sense of both their history and their heritage.

Any invasion of this country by outside entities, will most likely result in a massive guerilla war by the Venezuelans against those forces, and they will most likely win, through time, and attrition.

But the really frustrating part of this, which apparently our troops and civilian leadership never got, from VietNam forward, is that you need to be on the moral, right side of history to win; that has not been the case in US military misadventures in Iraq; Somalia; Yemen; Syria; or Afghanistan.

We will NOT be on the right and moral side of history if the US invades Venezuela.

Russia blames NATO for dismantling INF due to plans to deploy launchers to PolandMore:http://tass.com/politics/1043106

Moscow is urging NATO to avoid turning Europe into an arena of confrontation, which would certainly happen if US launchers were stationed in Poland.

NATO shoulders direct responsibility for the undoing of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty given its plans to deploy US missile defense systems to member states, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday.

"Unfortunately, Alliance member states have demonstrated that they are not ready for a substantive dialogue on the Mk-41 missile launchers, which are deployed to Romania and are planned to be deployed to Poland next year in breach of the INF Treaty," the statement reads. "These systems are part of NATO’s missile defenses so the Alliance is directly responsible for the destruction of the Treaty," the Russian Foreign Ministry added.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Although the time frame would be in 2020 for such weapons to be placed in Poland at the moment, Russia may well feel forced to place their version
of the Mk-41 missile launchers in Kaliningrad soon, which is just 128 miles from the Polish border.

There have been reports of Russian military improvements done there last year, as this story from October, 2018, indicates:

Russian SRBM, air force and nuclear build-up in Kaliningrad, can facilitate a maneuver and transfer of the forces from Kaliningrad and to Poland and the neighboring countries.

Although this work appears to be pretty standard, in terms of facilities refurbishments, note the tone of terror in that list line, when they use the phrase "can facilitate a maneuver and transfer of the forces from Kaliningrad and to Poland and the neighboring countries.", as though this is absolutely a war preparation?!?

Lavrov insists terrorists must be prevented from re-grouping as war against IS continues

The fight against the Islamic State terror group (IS, outlawed in Russia) is not over yet, there is a need to prevent terrorist units from coming together, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University on Monday.

"All who are dealing with the issue admit that it is former officers of Saddam Hussein’s army, dismissed from their positions, that are behind all IS operations that prove to be successful. It does not mean that the fight against the IS is over. As they say, the backbone is broken but some units still remain active and there is a need to prevent them from coming together and eliminate them," Lavrov noted.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Lavrov is both a gentleman, and truly an "adult in the room" regarding geopolitics.

I hope that he gets absolutely universal support from countries from around the world on this issue.

Putin taunts Trump: 400 Russian military contractors sent to Venezuela in support of Maduro

Russia has repeatedly opposed U.S. suggestions of foreign intervention to install opposition leader Juan Guaido as Venezuela’s interim president, and supported Mr. Maduro’s calls for mediation on the crisis.

The arrival of 400 Russian military contractors after Mr. Trump’s Jan. 23 recognition of Mr. Guaido, the head of the National Assembly, triggered speculation that Moscow was reinforcing Mr. Maduro’s personal security or even preparing his evacuation.

But with Mr. Maduro defying calls to step down, the Russian mission may be more extensive than reported, said John Marulanda, a U.S.-trained intelligence officer and adviser to conservative Colombian President Ivan Duque, an opponent of Mr. Maduro. Mr. Marulanda said the recent Russian arrivals are special forces — Spetsnaz — who are being embedded among Venezuela’s elite military units to better resist any U.S. intervention or internal coup against Mr. Maduro.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These Spetsnaz are the best of the best soldiers Russia has to offer; think of them as Russia's Special Forces on steroids, both physically, and intellectually.

I would like to hope (and pray) that the US government's response here will not be an attempted military solution to cause Maduro's downfall; if so, the US may well be looking at another Viet Nam with which to deal.

I want to see the people of Venezuela create their own destiny, and not have that imposed upon them, by an outside National entity which wants to replace Maduro with a US-centric government; expropriate resources to which it has no moral right; and insure that those resources are sold to US-centric countries only in US dollars.

NBC NEWS, TO CLAIM RUSSIA SUPPORTS TULSI GABBARD, RELIES ON FIRM JUST CAUGHT FABRICATING RUSSIA DATA FOR THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY

But the whole story was a sham: The only “expert” cited by NBC in support of its key claim was the firm New Knowledge, which just got caught by the New York Times fabricating Russian troll accounts on behalf of the Democratic Party in the Alabama Senate race to manufacture false accusations that the Kremlin was interfering in that election.

To justify its claim that Gabbard is the Kremlin’s candidate, NBC stated, “analysts at New Knowledge, the company the Senate Intelligence Committee used to track Russian activities in the 2016 election, told NBC News they’ve spotted ‘chatter’ related to Gabbard in anonymous online message boards, including those known for fomenting right-wing troll campaigns.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Tulsi Gabbard is a true American patriot, and one who has earned my respect.

She is a very bright, pro-peace, US Veteran, and a Samoan-American. Her views are only controversial because they run against past- and present- US wars of conquest.

Tulsi Gabbards on the Administration's push for war in Syria

She went on to say that the US government had been funding and training jihadis in the Middle East; she again was proven to be correct.

Tulsi Gabbard: President Trump Ended the Obama-era Program which funded Al Qaeda in Syria

She did go to Syria on a private trip, and did meet its President, Bashar Al-Assad. To the simple-minded, war-centric Jingoists, this was tantamount to treason; after all, wasn't this guy supposed to be the US's arch enemy in the region?!?

And they knew this because the US government kept assuring us that he was some vile dictator, who tortured and killed his own people, right?!?

But there is a question all thinking Americans need to be asking ourselves, and that is: what if that US government agenda has simply been fabricated, in order to achieve a certain geopolitical end, such as regime change in Damascus?!?

Does anyone remember how Saddam Hussein used to be "One of America's best friends" in the region, and how the US supplied weapons to Saddam for his war against Iran?!? And do you remember what turned the US government against him?!?
It was in 2000, when Iraq accepted Euros, rather than dollars, for its oil.

Business: Iraq nets handsome profit by dumping dollar for euro

And that, my friends, was the beginning of the end for the US's "Friend", Saddam Hussein; by accepting Euros for Iraq's oil, rather than dollars, the man signed his own death warrant.

We invaded Iraq in 2003, and Hussein was found "guilty" of monumental crimes against him, tried by a kangaroo court, and executed by hanging.

Bet let's get back to Tulsi, for a moment, please?!? I think this woman was very brave for what she did, which is to try to find out what was really going on in Syria; and for that, her own party denounced her, when - in my world - they should have been eager to hear what she had to say., and should have listened with respect.

This lady put her life on the line to get this information, and for that, she was castigated, called "Un-American", and was called "Russia's favorite candidate for 2020."

I would like everyone in this country, to listen with respect, and do not judge this lady by what is said about her by the Ziocon witch hunters, and the military-industrial complex, because both are pathologically war-centric. Here's her campaign video:

Tulsi Gabbard Enters 2020 election run

This is a person who, I believe, would honestly, and intelligently represent, and do her best to care for, the needs of our citizens. I would be very proud to have this lady representing this country as both President and Commander in Chief.

Please remember: this is a pro-peace Vet, who has served her country; and this is why the Israeli lobby and AIPAC are so bloody scared of her, that they felt compelled to start with a smear campaign against her, from nearly the moment she announced her run.

And Tulsi, unless you do anything which causes my opinion of you to change, I have your back.

I consider you a real American patriot, who wants to find the truth, no matter how distressing or disturbing that truth might be; it is a rare person, with the courage and tenacity to do so, and I believe you to be one of those people.

UK: HATE CRIME POLICE INVESTIGATE MAN’S “THINKING” AFTER HE CRITICIZED TRANSGENDERISM

A man in the United Kingdom was subjected to a thought police investigation by authorities in Humberside after he criticized transgenderism.

The individual, who goes by the name “Harry the Owl” on Twitter, previously tweeted “trans women are not women”.

In a 10 tweet threat on the incident, Harry explains how he first got a call from his boss informing him that the police wished to speak with him.

After calling the police, Harry was told by an officer “representing the LGBTQ community” that someone had reported him for hate speech and it was the duty of the police to check if he employed any trans people because they would not be in a safe working environment.

In the United Kingdom, so-called “hate incidents” are recorded as such if the offended person perceives themselves to be a victim, a standard which does not require any crime or misdemeanor to have taken place.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is apparent that no one in the UK dare have an opinion other than that which is completely politically correct, and particularly when it gets posted on line.

But having said that, I would like to hope that my brother and sister human beings can accept each other just as they are, without judgement.

And I hope to heck no one reports me to our State's "Thought Police" for having said so! :-)

FLOTILLA OF VENEZUELAN OIL TANKERS STRANDED IN GULF OF MEXICO

And in the latest sign that military conflict remains a possibility (after all, both President Trump and National Security Advisor John Bolton have insisted that the door to a military intervention is still open), when asked about whether a civil war is inevitable, Maduro replied that "no one could answer that question with certainty." While Guaido, who is struggling to convince the Venezuelan military to abandon Maduro and back his upstart parallel government, definitively ruled out a war as an option.

Meanwhile, RIA reported Tuesday morning that Maduro is hoping to arrest the slide in Venezuelan oil production by boosting output to 2.5 million barrels per day (from less than 1 million b/d currently).

Webmaster's Commentary:

This... is an industrial-strength problem for Maduro, and how he handles it may secure his rule in Venezuela... or destroy it.

ESCOBAR: MAGA MISSES THE EURASIA TRAIN

While China and Russia solidify their economic and political alliance, the U.S. is missing an historic chance to join a multilateral world, instead clinging to military empire...

We should know by now that the heart of the 21stCentury Great Game is the myriad layers of the battle between the United States and the partnership of Russia and China.

Even the U.S. National Defense Strategy says so: “The central challenge to U.S. prosperity and security is the reemergence of long-term, strategic competition by … revisionist powers.” The recently published assessment on U.S. defense implications of China’s global expansionsays so too.

The clash will frame the emergence of a possibly new, post-ideological, strategic world order amidst an extremely volatile unpredictability in which peace is war and an accident may spark a nuclear confrontation.

UH OH – PLEASE TELL ME THAT THE U.S. IS NOT ABOUT TO GO TO WAR WITH VENEZUELA…

The U.S. was the first major power to recognize Juan Guaido as the “legitimate” president of Venezuela, and now the UKand most other European nations have also backed Guaido.

But Russia and China continue to back Maduro, and so that sets up a very interesting situation.

Will the western powers go ahead with their plans for regime change even though the international community is divided?

In particular, Russia has a very strong incentive to keep Maduro in power. The following comes from Zero Hedge…

“Russia is now so deeply invested in the Maduro regime that the only realistic option is to double down,” writes senior fellow at the Carnegie Moscow Center Alexander Gabuev.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There is a grave potential for a proxy war here, with Russia and China on Venezuela's side, and the US, (and potentially, Europe, and Israel on the other).

I hope that the resolution of this crisis will be as bloodless as possible; however, unfortunately, just because something would be the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing the US government could possibly do, is no guarantee that it will not do it.

Let’s get real. Bolton doesn’t care about the people of Venezuela. If he did the US would not be imposing harsh sanctions that are resulting in malnutrition and starvation.  THE COMING GLOBAL FINANCIAL CRISIS: DEBT EXHAUSTION

The global economy is way past the point of maximum debt saturation, and so the next stop is debt exhaustion.

Just as generals fight the last war, central banks always fight the last financial crisis. The Global Financial Crisis (GFC) of 2008-09 was primarily one of liquidity as markets froze up as a result of the collapse of the highly leveraged subprime mortgage sector that had commoditized fraud (hat tip to Manoj S.) via liar loans and designed-to-implode mortgage backed securities.

The central bank "solution" to institutionalized, commoditized fraud was to lower interest rates to zero and enable tens of trillions in new debt. As a result, total debt in the U.S. has soared to $70 trillion, roughly 3.5 times GDP, and global debt has skyrocketed from $84 trillion to $250 trillion. Debt in China has blasted from $7 trillion 2008 to $40 trillion in 2018.

THIS APP WANTS TO TRACK EVERY HOMELESS PERSON IN SAN FRANCISCO

On paper, it looks as if San Francisco shouldn’t have a homelessness problem. There are as many permanent housing beds as people who need them. The city spends hundreds of millions of dollars to help get people off the streets, and last year voters approved a measure to raise $300 million annually to tackle the issue by taxing local companies. Yet there are about 7,500 homeless in the city because of soaring rents and the difficulty of treating substance abuse, mental illness, and other health concerns.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It appears that the City of San Francisco is, collectively, very myopic, in its drive to assess the symptoms of homelessness, rather than the root cause.

The state of Utah also had a challenging homeless situation; here is how they resolved it, at least, partially:

FIRM FOUNDED BY EX-BLACKWATER BOSS TO OPERATE IN CHINA’S XINJIANG PROVINCE

A security firm founded by Erik Prince, the former boss of the private military company Blackwater, has announced a deal with the Chinese state to operate a training facility in China’s largely Muslim Xinjiang province. In the months following the United States invasion of Iraq, Blackwater was hired by the Department of State to provide diplomatic security at several locations throughout the Middle Eastern country. By 2010, when the company was abruptly sold to a group of private investors, its tactics in Iraq had prompted international controversy. Prince went on to help found Frontier Services Group (FSG), another private security firm registered in Hong Kong. The company provides security training to personnel working for Chinese companies. Its specialization is training personnel of Chinese firms based abroad, mainly in regions of Africa.

The 13th Amendment ( Doesn’t apply to American slave armies. And things are about to get worse.)

Governments that force their citizens to take up arms against the citizens of other countries do so for one reason: they are engaging in unjust and immoral wars. Waging war in the actual defense of ones country, home, property, and family does not require conscription. If a foreign army landed on the east or west coast of the United States, the government wouldn’t have to conscript a single American to repel a threat or invasion. Americans would flock to the coasts, and use their own guns and ammo. -- Conscription and national service are things that all patriotic Americans should abhor because, as former congressman Ron Paul has well said: “A government that is willing to enslave some of its people can never be trusted to protect the liberties of its own citizens.”

TRUMP: ‘WE HAVE TO PROTECT ISRAEL,’ SHIFTING AGAIN ON SYRIA WITHDRAWAL

ASHINGTON – US President Donald Trump indicated this weekend that some US troops in Syria would remain there “to protect Israel,” in an apparent shift from his earlier insistence on an absolute withdrawal.

In an interview with Margaret Brennan of CBS News, Trump was pressed to identify precisely how much of America’s force presence there would be coming home – and how quickly.

WASHINGTON – US President Donald Trump indicated this weekend that some US troops in Syria would remain there “to protect Israel,” in an apparent shift from his earlier insistence on an absolute withdrawal.

In an interview with Margaret Brennan of CBS News, Trump was pressed to identify precisely how much of America’s force presence there would be coming home – and how quickly.

“We’re going to be there and we’re going to be staying. We have to protect Israel,” he replied. “We have to protect other things that we have. But we’re – yeah, they’ll be coming back in a matter of time.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

The logical question which should have been asked by this alleged CBS reporter, and of course was not is, with all the money and equipment with which the US has gifted Israel, why in the name of heaven does Israel need protecting at all, more than what the US has already given, and committed to give to Israel?!?

Apparently,"amazingly intellectually lazy and woefully uninformed " is the new "standard" for reporting at CBS. Because had she actually bothered to do her homework, she would have understood the following:

US Defense Budget Prioritizes Securing Israel over Deterring IranThis article goes on to state the following:

"Securing Israel. The FY 2019 budget codifies the 10-year memorandum of understanding (MOU) that the Obama Administration signed with the Israeli government in September 2016. This MOU offered “the single largest pledge of military assistance in US history”—$38 billion over a decade. The language included in FY 2019 is unprecedented in its scope and content, lavishing US support on one single ally. The decision to help Israel with unmanned aerial systems came after Iran, Hezbollah, and IS flew drones in Syria during the past few years. This US support comes as the Israeli government seems increasingly concerned about the backlash of US-Iranian tensions and the potential for a growing number of heavy rockets and long-range missiles launched toward Israel. The FY 2019 budget urges the Trump Administration to begin talks with the Israeli government to determine “the quantity and type of precision guided munitions in the event of a sustained armed confrontation” with Hezbollah and Hamas."

Please let that number sink in : $38 billion dollars over ten years. means that Israel will be receiving $3,800,000,000 per year over 10 years.

So if, in fact, Israel is being provided getting nearly 4 billion dollars per year for the next decade, courtesy of the highly generous US taxpayers, (who, of course, had utterly no say in this matter), then why is this nuclear-armed, self-proclaimed theocracy, pathologically incapable of defending itself against Syria, or, in fact, Iran?!?

And forgive me, President Trump, but is it not totally illegal for the US government to give any aid or military assistance to Israel because it refuses to have its nuclear sites inspected, and to join the NNPT, as Iran has done, because such aid is in flagrant violation of both the Mann Act, and the Symington Amendment?!?

just doing a little "reality check" here, sir.

Sorry, Mr. President, with these statements regarding the the reasons for the US military staying in Syria, you just threw logic right smack on its head, and it is suffering from a severe concussion.

The US presence at al-Tanf in Eastern Syria, has utterly nothing to do with "defending Israel", but everything to do with having a military "beach head" for a potential invasion of Iran.

The maps tell the story:

Map of the Middle East

Al Tanf: why it matters

This is also the reason why US troops will not be leaving Iraq any time soon, either, even though the Iraqi government has asked it to leave, and so far, nicely.

And Mr. President, you would do well to remember the most powerful politically man in Iraq right now, but who holds no office: Muqtada Al Sadr.

If you do not remember his influence on the timing of the first US military withdrawal from Iraq, you might want to have one of your researchers take a look.

And you might want to look at a companion piece. also from blacklistednews.com, and based on the above referenced interview:

CNN ADMITS: SAUDI ARABIA SUPPLIES WEAPONS TO AL-QAEDA IN YEMEN

The Saudi-led coalition provided US-made weapons to al-Qaeda-linked fighters, Salafi militias and other factions taking part in the intervention in Yemen, in violation with their agreements with the US, according to a CNN investigation.

The weapons have also made their way into the hands of Iranian-backed rebels battling the coalition for control of the country, exposing some of America’s sensitive military technology to Tehran and potentially endangering the lives of US troops in other conflict zones,” CNN reported.

According to the investigation, Saudi Arabia and the UAE used the US-made weapons to buy the loyalties of militias or tribes, bolster chosen armed actors, and influence the complex political landscape.

However, by handing off the military equipment to third parties, the Saudi-led coalition is in breach of its agreements with the US, according to the US Department of Defense.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That old statement "the enemy of my enemy is my friend", only goes so far, and apparently, no one from the Pentagon was looking at these deals when they went down.

But what amazes me, was that it was a CNN team doing the reporting; one has to wonder if this lone story was a bid for sympathy, in light of the reality that they lost their "credibility battle" years ago.

TALIBAN LAUNCH DEADLY ATTACKS AS THEY ATTEND AFGHAN PEACE TALKS

The Taliban has killed at least 47 people in separate attacks in Afghanistan, despite the beginning of peace talks with Afghan officials in Moscow.

The armed group launched a pre-dawn attack on an army base in northern Kunduz on Tuesday, killing 26 members of the security forces, Mohammad Yusouf Ayubi, head of the provincial council said.

There were at least 23 soldiers and three members of the local police force among those slain.

According to Ayubi, 12 troops were wounded in the Taliban onslaught, which lasted for over two hours until reinforcements arrived at the besieged base and the attackers were repelled.

"Day by day, the security situation is getting worse in and around Kunduz city," said Ayubi, adding there are fears the city could again fall into the hands of the Taliban as it did briefly on two occasions in recent years - in September 2015 and in October 2016.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder, logically: were these actually Taliban, if what they are looking for in Moscow is peace?!?

Or were they forces determined to attempt to insure that US and NATO troops stay?!?!

Peace talks and simultaneous attacks?!?

Forgive me, but this just doesn't make sense.

ROBERT F. KENNEDY JR EXPLAINS HOW BIG PHARMA COMPLETELY OWNS CONGRESS

Glyphosate, the active ingredient in Monsanto’s pesticide Round Up, is a perfect example, as science has been showing for decades how incredibly harmful it is for human health and the environment, yet it’s approved as ‘safe’ for use in the western world. It’s no mystery why glyphosate is illegal in the majority of countries around the world. The same goes for genetically modified foods, which is what Round Up was designed to be used on. Years ago, a lawsuit forced the FDA to divulge its files on genetically engineered foods.

“As part of the process, they portrayed the various concerns as merely the ignorant opinions of misinformed individuals – and derided them as not only unscientific, but anti-science. They then set to work to convince the public and government officials, through the dissemination of false information, that there was an overwhelming expert consensus, based on solid evidence, that GMOs were safe.” – Jane Goodall.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is one of the most horrific perversions of the system that allows chemicals like glyphosate to become part of the "food chain" we eat, not to mention our children are eating.

Please, be part of the solution by educating the managers of the places you go to find food, that their parent companies may well be indicted in a class action lawsuit, for carrying this chemical, or others with the potential for causing great harm to the people who consume them.

REAL-TIME CRIME CENTERS TO SPY ON MOTORISTS IN REAL-TIME

Not content with Real Time Crime Centers (RTCC) forcing businesses to spy on customers in real-time. Homeland Security has now decided to use RTCC's to spy on motorists in real-time.

Last month an article in the Baton Rogue Proud revealed that the Baton Rouge Police Department's RTCC will be using red light cameras to spy on motorists.

"Baton Rouge Chief Administrative Officer Darryl Gissel said the verbiage of the new contract with Verra Mobility, the traffic camera company, allows BRPD to access those live camera feeds."

Verra Mobility's slogan is, "A new kind of smart mobility company focused on safe cities, smart roadways and the connected systems that tie them seamlessly together." Roughly translated, Verra Mobility is using their Smart City surveillance cameras to help police spy on everyone.

Webmaster's Commentary:

But the question remains: with this glut of data, how will the Watchers be able to make decisions, in real time, about what is a danger to society.. anf what is not?!?

65-minute video: Professor Jim Fetzer’s legal testimony for Sandy Hook lawsuit could be bigger than King Family civil trial

*hyperlinks/videos live at source*

Jim explains in three paragraphs from The Sandy Hook “Pozner v. Fetzer” lawsuit for dummies:

“On 27 November 2018, the Minneapolis law firm, Meshbesher and Spence, Ltd., filed a suit against me on behalf of its client, Plaintiff Leonard Pozner, for defamation… I do not want the case to be dismissed. I want to have a formal, legal resolution.

The Complaint is narrowly drawn to focus on assertions I have made–no doubt, hundreds of times–that the death certificate that Leonard Pozner gave to Kelley Watt is a fabrication, where the Complaint cites two instances in which I made that assertion, one from Ch. 11 of the book, NOBODY DIED AT SANDY HOOK (2nd edition, 2016), which I edited, and one from “How We Know Sandy Hook Was A FEMA Drill, Nobody Died, for an Anti-Gun Agenda” (5 August 2018), published as a contribution to SANDY HOOK TRUTH: MEMORANDA FOR THE PRESIDENT (2018).

This Russian Oil Giant Is Driving Putin Toward Showdown With Trump In Venezuela

in 2017 Caracas awarded licenses to Russian oil giant Rosneft for the development of two offshore gas fields, via Reuters.

In total Caracas owes Rosneft $3 billion, according to Gabuev, which could lead to "a new sort of proxy conflict in America’s backyard," which is at once economic, political, and could increasingly turn to proxy military intervention. Indeed the Kremlin has already accused the US of "meddling" in the affairs of a sovereign country in order to foster a "slow motion coup".

"Any solution to the internal political crisis in Venezuela is possible only by Venezuelans themselves," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday. "Imposing any solutions or efforts aimed at legitimizing the attempt of usurping power is, in our view, just direct and indirect meddling in Venezuela’s internal affairs," Peskov said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is beginning to look more ominous by the moment; Putin and Rosneft are going do everything within their power - short of a proxy war, if possible - to protect their interests, and the return of the money loaned.

But looking at this huge number, my sense is that if "soft diplomacy" will not work against Trump, the Russians may well believe that a war may well be their only option.

PAUL CRAIG ROBERTS: WASHINGTON RESURRECTED THE ARMS RACE

The meetings in Beijing during January 30-31 between Washington, Russia, China, France and the UK apparently failed to preserve the commitment to prohibit intermediate range nuclear weapons. Washington stuck to its determination to withdraw from the historic agreement of Reagan and Gorbachev to destroy all land-based intermediate range nuclear missiles. This US withdrawal from a nuclear weapons reduction agreement follows the George W. Bush/Cheney regime’s withdrawal from the anti-ballistic missile treaty. Indeed, since the Clinton regime, every US president has produced worsening trust between the two major nuclear powers.

No good can come of this as Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said at the Beijing meeting.

Webmaster's Commentary:

By doing this, President Trump has decided to define himself, geopolitically, as some sort of unspeakable hybrid between Darth Vader and Lord Voldemort, where "bad" competes with "worse than bad", on a moment by moment basis.

Now, what to name this evil entity; Darth Trumper? Lord Trumpdemort? Well let's try Lord Darth Trumpdemort (LDT, for short, and that should make him happy; after all, one of his BFFS in the Middle East, is known by his tag of 3 initials MBS, Prince Mohammed Bin Salman).

But all kidding aside, if there was ever a time when this country absolutely, and desperately, needed a Department of Peace, which would be tasked with providing alternatives to get, or create the outcome, the US government wants to see, without resorting to war, that time is now.

And yes, I know that with weaponry, the US has a great deal of "catching up" to do with both the Russians and Chinese.

But that having been said, what I am hearing is that sweet sound of a collective financial orgasm coming from every CEO of every weapons manufacturer in this country.

Congrats, guys, you must be feeling pretty special right now; you have subsumed this President into your "War-o-Rama Killing Machine", which will make the possibility of some kind of a just and lasting peace, nearly impossible.

And were I a betting woman, one of those ramp-ups to a coming world war, will most probably be some kind of "false flag" on American assets somewhere around the world, to be used as the justification for the resurrection of the draft in this country; that's right, you read that correctly.

So I must ask this question; will walking away from this treaty, as LDT has done, mean that having the ability to murder even more people in the space of one minute, actually make this country more safe?!?

Unfortunately, the short answer here, is "HELL, no!"

What prevents wars, is both enlightened foreign and domestic policies, and unfortunately, right at this moment in history, the Unhinged, Surveilled State of Amerika has neither.

It was rudderless, until the Neocons got LDT completely absorbed in its philosophies and to sign off on its action plan, with a huge "To Do" list, including Iran; Africa; and whatever other country on the planet has incredible natural resources, like Venezuela, which, of course, needs a "humanitarian intervention" to make sure that its government is US-centric; that those resources will only be harvested by companies that are US centric, and that those resources ... are only sold in the American collar.

Lather; rinse; repeat. How in the name of heaven, can I make this more clear to you?!?

And the most frightening, depressing, and crazy-making aspect to all of this is, that even if the American people stood up to LDT, and said, "You're Fired!", please trust me when I say that there is already another LDT in waiting, created by the the military industrial complex and the Deep State, ready to step in to continue the agenda toward a world war.

Americans are still suffering under the delusion that when it comes to national, Presidential elections, they have a choice, when the real "choices" are those vetted and approved by the military-industrial complex; the American Deep State, and the most powerful of corporations, both here, and internationally.

MARINE VET FILMS TRAFFIC STOP FROM HIS PORCH; CALIFORNIA COP GIVES HIM A CONCUSSION

A California cop gave a Marine veteran a concussion for nothing more than filming a traffic stop.

"That's fine," Burrell responds. The officer starts handcuffing Burrell, and tells him to "stop resisting."

"I'm not resisting you," Burrell says, as the officer threatens to take him down. "Stop fighting or you're going to go on the ground," the cop says.

It's hard to see what happens next, and the camera eventually goes dark. "He handcuffed me and threw me into this wall here," Burrell tells KGO. "Swung my body into that pole there, where I knocked my head. He took me to the car and detained me and told me I was going to jail." Burrell wrote on Facebook that he suffered a concussion as a result of the officer's actions.

Several seconds later in the video, the officer can indeed be heard saying: "That wasn't very smart, man. Now you get to go to jail."

Webmaster's Commentary:

If this ... is how the city of Vallejo 's police are interpreting the oft-used, but seldom honored phrase, "To Protect and Serve", particularly when it comes to minorities, I would be "voting with my feet" and leaving this place just as quickly as I could, making sure that I let the Mayor of this city know precisely why this decision was made.

Bokhari: A Left-Wing Journalist Mafia Now Runs Silicon Valley

The Internet once seemed poised to utterly destroy the establishment media. In an era where everyone with a phone and a social media account could reach an audience of millions, the need for professional journalists gatekeeping information seemed pointless.

Yet journalists have savagely fought back against the social media companies that once threatened to displace them. Today, one angry email from a left-wing journalist is enough to get a tech giant to frantically manipulate its algorithms — or even create manual blacklists — to appease them.

BRITAIN’S SECRET PROPAGANDA “INTEGRITY INITIATIVE” TARGETS RUSSIA

In a desperate attempt to cover its tracks, the propaganda network linked to Britain’s security services, the Integrity Initiative (II), has wiped its website and locked its Twitter account “pending an investigation into the theft of data.”

The decision was taken shortly after the Anonymous hacking group released new II documents targeting Russia as supposedly the greatest threat to world peace, based on claims that it is the country most likely to use nuclear weapons.

The documents reveal yet more of the disinformation campaign used to justify NATO preparations for war with Russia, including the use of nuclear weapons.

Minutes from a joint workshop of the Institute for Statecraft (IfS), which runs the II, and the US government-funded Center for Naval Analyses discuss what would happen if the “West” intervened to “push back” a Russian advance in the case of a localized conflict.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would call this "the Duplicity Initiative"; why would Russia lob off a nuclear bomb against first strike target, understanding absolutely the consequences of such a move?!?

It is highly more likely that NATO and the West were exploring "false flag" scenarios, to blame on Russia, and then, head straight into a war against it.

I would strongly caution both President Grump and Britain's Prime Minister Theresa May, that neither country should even be entertaining such thoughts at the moment, because neither country has the weaponry; the money; the troop strength; or the manufacturing which would create a positive outcome in a war against Russia right now.

And until THAT is remedied and sorted by both countries, I would like to hope that more peace-centric leaders come to power in both countries, and that they will openly commit to a strategy of "engage, don't enrage", as a way of tampering down geopolitical tensions.

SAUDI CROWN PRINCE CALLS BILLIONAIRE SHAKEDOWN IN RIYADH’S RITZ-CARLTON A LUCRATIVE SUCCESS

A total of about $107 billion has been recovered as a result of the detention of scores of Saudi royals and businessmen in Riyadh’s Ritz-Carlton hotel in 2017, according to the kingdom’s anti-corruption commission.

It said the assets collected from the 87 detainees came in a mix of cash, real estate, companies, and securities. The commission, which was headed by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), referred more than 60 people to prosecution, saying that 56 of them had “other criminal cases against them.” Eight other people “refused to settle despite the existence of evidence against them, and they were referred to the public prosecutor.”

MBS, who called the anti-corruption campaign a “shock therapy,” has declared it a lucrative success. He told Bloomberg earlier that $35 billion had been collected from the prisoners.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"Anti-corruption," MY ASTROLABE!!!!!

Let's call it by its real name: submitting to pure and utter robbery, or spend time in one of Saudi Arabia's jails, very probably, for some crime they most probably did not commit, and to be sentenced to be tortured, or executed by a Kangaroo court which only exists to insure they invoke precisely the outcome the Prince wants to see.

Oh, Yeah, baby... That's justice, Prince Bin Salman style!!

It is profoundly unsettling to me, that President Trump's BFFs in the Middle East, are the Butcher of Yemen, Prince Bin Salman, and Israel's Prime Minister, the Butcher of Gaza.

I think, at some deep and profound level, Trump is actually envious that both men can pretty much do what they want, in their respective countries (and beyond) with impunity, including war crimes, as neither country has a written Constitution, nor are signatories to the ICC.

The Return of Book-Burning

The Book Community has jumped the shark. Who are the ‘Book Community’? Well, they’re the nebulous group of super-woke flakes who bullied young-adult (YA) fantasy author Amelie Wen Zhao into pulling the publication of her debut novel, Blood Heir. While it wasn’t slated for release until June, some review copies had been sent out. Apparently the book has already shaken some readers – and some people who obviously haven’t read it – to the core. Zhao’s depiction of slavery in one scene has been deemed problematic. Reverse racism, lack of genderqueer representation, and a central antagonist with a limp are some of the other criticisms levelled against it, and Twitter is fuming. Zhao has issued an apology and agreed with her publishers to cancel publication.

BIG-NAME DEMOCRATS CALL ON NORTHAM TO RESIGN FOLLOWING RACIST YEARBOOK PHOTO CONTROVERSY

Several big-name Democratic politicians are calling on Democratic Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam to resign following a racist picture that appeared on a page set aside for him in his 1984 medical school yearbook.

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker and New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand were some of the Democrats who called on Northam to step down. The picture showed one person wearing blackface and another in a Ku Klux Klan costume in Northam’s section of the yearbook.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Did any one listen to the absolutely "you can't fix stupid" apologia the guy did on television yesterday?!?

But to the matter at hand; were the images from the yearbook actually those of now- Governor Ralph Northam?!?

I have an easy answer to that: dental records.

Compel those to be released, both by his dentist at the time, and his dentist now.

This is what the US military uses, many times, where there is nothing else, forensically, to use.

FACEBOOK DELETES HUNDREDS OF IRAN ACCOUNTS

Facebook has deleted hundreds of fake accounts, groups and pages which it claims are linked to Iran.

The head of Facebook’s cyber-security department, Tanil Glitscher, said in a letter earlier this week that the accounts were “engaging in false and covert activity on Facebook and Instagram,” which is owned by the social media giant. These accounts specifically targeted people around the world, especially in the Middle East and South Asia, Glitscher added.

The company added that the content of these accounts and pages was related to issues such as the Israel-Palestine conflict, as well as the wars in Syria and Yemen. In some cases, the accounts’ content acted as “reorientation of the content of the Iranian government media”.

However, Facebook stressed that it had deleted the accounts because of their activities, rather than the content they were publishing.

Webmaster's Commentary:

My two "canaries in the coalmine", regarding this issue, are:

www.presstv.com, and www.en.farsnews.com, both English-language versions of Iranian news in English.

I would very much suggest that our readers take a look at them, because even though living under their theocracy would be impossible for someone like me, you can at least get a pulse on how, and what ,they are thinking.

Also, they are doing some very interesting things with various science and research programs in Iran, which have absolutely nothing to do with blowing people up!!

When both of these entities go down simultaneously, look for something ominous on the geopolitical landscape to be about to happen, regarding Iran.

AMID CIVIL UNREST, INTERNET SHUTDOWNS ARE MAKING ZIMBABWE'S ECONOMIC CRISIS WORSE

Following the January 12 declaration of an official fuel price hike in Zimbabwe, civil unrest and political paranoia has rocked the nation.

President Emmerson Mnanagagwa announced that fuel prices at $1.30 USD per liter would go up by 150 percent, making Zimbabwe’s fuel among the most expensive in the world. The next day he left for a five-day tour of Russia and Eastern Europe, purportedly in search of investment deals. Chaos and anarchy broke out the following Monday.

The military was immediately deployed to quell protests after angry mobs looted and set ablaze several supermarkets and chain stores. Reports of state agents gunning down unarmed civilians circulated on social media before the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) completely shut down the Internet and all forms of social media from January 14-January 20, 2019.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unfortunately, in President Mnanagagwa's first-class jet-setting around the world in search of "investment deals" for his economically broken and impoverished country, is that he has forgotten that bit about those countries interested in making "loans" or "investment deals", will need to believe that there is a reasonable opportunity for those investments to actually be paid off.

Unfortunately, with the chaos, anger and confusion reigning right now in Zimbabwe, seeing how this will happen has to be difficult, if not impossible to prove.

One wonders if perhaps this little trip is part of President Mnanagagwa's plan to visit his "money" in more stable surroundings, leading up to a "safe abdication", and letting Zimbabwe rot from the curses of its own corruption. After all, he is reputed to be Zimbabwe's richest citizen.

Zimbabwe's Richest Man

Were I betting woman, I would not bet against this possibility.

THE FAA DECLARED A "NO DRONE ZONE" DURING THE SUPER BOWL IN ATLANTA

FBI agents had to officially reiterate their message: no drones near Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium where Sunday’s Super Bowl will take place.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) declared a “no drone zone” on Thursday, placing a three-day Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) within a 30-nautical-mile radius around the stadium and up to 18,000 feet in altitude — well below the typical altitude of commercial airliners.

The news comes in the aftermath of chaos erupting at London’s Gatwick and Heathrow airports in December. Over 100,000 passengers were stranded after unidentified drones showed up near the airports’ runways.

FCC STRUGGLES TO CONVINCE JUDGE THAT BROADBAND ISN’T “TELECOMMUNICATIONS”

A Federal Communications Commission lawyer faced a skeptical panel of judges today as the FCC defended its repeal of net neutrality rules and deregulation of the broadband industry.

FCC General Counsel Thomas Johnson struggled to explain why broadband shouldn't be considered a telecommunications service, and struggled to explain the FCC's failure to protect public safety agencies from Internet providers blocking or slowing down content.

Oral arguments were held today in the case, which is being decided by a three-judge panel of the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. (Audio of the four-hour-plus oral arguments is available here.) Throttling of firefighters' data plans played a major role in today's oral arguments.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Regarding these hearings, it would be wise to remember what Adolf Hitler did, right before starting World War II: he made absolutely certain that he had total control of the German media, so that nothing, other than what he and his party minions decided to communicated, got communicated in Germany and beyond.

Today, with Facebook, Youtube, and twitter, having nearly wiped out a great deal of conservative expression by deplatforming sites expressing differences of opinion from those of their owners, private money, plus politically correct thinking, primarily controls what is heard, and what is not.

This is why sites like WRH are so critically important to the entire national, and international, dialogue, because the site strives to be both truth-centric, and anti-war.

The corporate-state media lives in terror that the truth will somehow leak out of the corporate-Imperial fortress, imperiling their jobs and perks. -- It's not exactly news that the Alternative Media is under assault: skeptical inquiry and dissenting narratives are smeared as "fake news," and new suspiciously corporate entities (NewsGuard et al.) claim to be "protecting" consumers from "fake news" as cover for their real agenda, which is limiting public exposure to skeptical, dissenting independent analysis. -- Social Media and Search corporations are also censoring non-corporate, non-state media, again under the purported guise of stripping out "fake news."

The Media Loves Wars and They Love The Media

Independent media is governed by those who consume it through peer-to-peer verification, and establishment media is governed by their sponsors — the Military Industrial Complex and corporate conglomerates. Why No Information Should Be Off Limits

Is it wrong to teach people how to manipulate others?

The information is out there. Someone is going to learn how to sway the minds of others, for good or bad.

Isn’t it irresponsible to keep this information from those who it might be used against?

For instance, some people were outraged over Robert Greene’s book, The 48 Laws of Power. In it, he uses historical examples to teach the reader lessons about gaining and maintaining power.

But much like Machiavelli’s The Prince, the book did not make judgment calls about whether using these tactics was right or wrong. It simply laid it out: here is what has worked for people looking for power, and here is where they failed.

Do not commit to anyone, reads one law of power, only fools rush to pick a side. This might seem sinful to a principled person, who says you should pick the side of right, regardless of who is likely to win.

Financial Blacklisting: NewsGuard Advises Advertisers to Avoid Pro-Trump Media

NewsGuard’s tactic is similar the one used by far-left smear peddlers Sleeping Giants, whose mission is to spread baseless accusations of racism and white supremacy to the advertisers of pro-Trump media outlets in order to put them out of business and silence their voice. Two of the sites on NewsGuard’s list, Breitbart News and the Daily Mail, are also prominent targets of Sleeping Giants.

US Sanctions as a Tool To Perpetuate Neocolonialism

It’s an evident fact that neocolonial powers are ruled by behemoth corporations whose wealth is measured in hundreds of billions of dollars, far more than the total GDP of many developing nations. The status of these multinational corporations as dominant players in international politics gets official imprimatur when the Western governments endorse the congressional lobbying practice of so-called "special interest" groups, which is a euphemism for corporate interests.

Since the Western governments are nothing but the mouthpiece of business interests on international political and economic forums, therefore any national or international entity which hinders or opposes the agenda of corporate interests is either coerced into accepting their demands or gets sidelined.

Facebook’s Troll Hunter in Chief Nathaniel Gleicher Tied to Neocon Think Tank

After Facebook purged thousands of independent media pages from its platform in October, one may be forgiven for thinking that Facebook couldn’t go any lower. But in the company’s second purge of 2019, the social media giant may have done just that.

The round of bans — doled out on Thursday to more than a thousand pages — was revealed in two blog posts: one focusing on pages that allegedly originated in Iran and another that took aim at activity in Indonesia. Not to be outdone, on Thursday Twitter also banned more than 2,500 accounts that it “believes may have origins in Iran.”

Why the War on Conspiracy Theories Is Bad Public Policy

On January 25 2018 YouTube unleashed the latest salvo in the war on conspiracy theories, saying “we’ll begin reducing recommendations of borderline content and content that could misinform users in harmful ways—such as videos promoting a phony miracle cure for a serious illness, claiming the earth is flat, or making blatantly false claims about historic events like 9/11.”

At first glance that sounds reasonable. Nobody wants YouTube or anyone else to recommend bad information. And almost everyone agrees that phony miracle cures, flat earthism, and blatantly false claims about 9/11 and other historical events are undesirable.

But if we stop and seriously consider those words, we notice a couple of problems. First, the word “recommend” is not just misleading but mendacious. YouTube obviously doesn’t really recommend anything. When it says it does, it is lying.

Phantom investigation? France delays report on mystery cases of babies born without arms

France's public health agency has postponed the release of a report on an investigation into the abnormal numbers of babies being born without arms in rural regions — a medical mystery which has baffled experts.
Three infants were born with no arms between June and November 2016 within a 30km radius of Vitrolles in the Bouches-du-Rhône region. That followed another cluster of cases near the area of Ain, where eight babies were born with the defect within a 17 km radius. Similar cases have also been observed in other regions of rural France.

A nationwide investigation into the phenomenon began last October and the government had promised an update by January 31, but that date was suddenly pushed back — and the parents of affected children are becoming impatient and suspicious.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am betting here on the drug glyphosate, which is the basis drug for "Round Up Weed Killer", may well prove the culprit.

And I am also betting that the French government wants to cover this up, bigtime, because of the massive amounts of both individual and class action lawsuits about how this chemical has impacted lives of those exposed to it, and that it was a French researcher, Seralini, who found the link between glyphosate and illness.

Weed-Whacking Herbicide Proves Deadly to Human Cells, 2009

Seralini's research came out in 2009; the dates of these malformations were noted in pregnancies in 2018; my best guess is that those politicians who took money from Monsanto certainly didn't want any causation linkage be made public, because of the horrific drop one would see in demand and usage, and the potential for a class action lawsuit against both Monsanto, and the French government.

US Revives Cold War "Arms Race" With Russia And China After Abandoning INF Treaty

Update: As we previewed below, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has announced that the US will withdraw from the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces treaty immediately, prompting threats of a Russian "response" from Moscow.

According to RT, Pompeo said the US could return to compliance with the treaty if Moscow meets Washington's demands within the next 180 days. To convince the US to back down, Washington has insisted that Russia cease development of a new cruise missile. Moscow has repeatedly denied claims that it's in violation of the treaty.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This may well not turn out as those in the Bowels of Power in DC believe.

And why the 180 day deadline?!? That's a good 6 months out.

One has to wonder just what "death ray" the US government believes it's going to be able to add to its arsenal by that point in time, which would cause Russia and China to "blink" on the issue!?!

Twitter Bans 2,000 Pro-Maduro Accounts As Demands For Regime Change Escalate

On the evening before National Security Advisor John Bolton reiterated that "all options [including, presumably, military intervention] are on the table" regarding the situation in Venezuela, Twitter announced that it had joined the US-backed coup by taking down 2,000 accounts that it said were engaged in a "state-backed influence campaign", according to RT.

In a blog post, Twitter said it removed 1,196 accounts located in Venezuela which it deemed to "appear to be engaged in a state-backed influence campaign targeting domestic audiences." The company also removed another 764 accounts, but said "we are unable to definitively tie the accounts located in Venezuela to information operations of a foreign government against another country."

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Next Big Threat For Oil Comes From China

There is a widespread concern in the world regarding China’s decelerating economic growth. The slowdown, if it continues, threatens economic activity almost everywhere. Growth in Germany, for example, has already cooled due to its exports of high-quality machinery to China dropping precipitously.

Those in the oil market also worry about China. The country’s economic growth has been a key driver of global crude oil consumption. Indeed, China accounts for one-third of the International Energy Agency’s projected 2019 increase in world oil use.

Erik Prince Denies Knowledge Of Blackwater-Type Training Base In China

A Hong Kong-Based training company launched by Blackwater founder Erik Prince is reportedly building a training center in the controversial Western Chinese region of Xinjiang according to Reuters, citing a company statement from Prince's Frontier Services Group (FSG).

While the exact details of the $600,000 (4 million yuan) project weren't disclosed, a state media report said that the facility will be able to train 8,000 people a year.

Despite being the founder, Executive Director and Deputy Chairman of FSG, Prince says he had "no knowledge or involvement" in the preliminary memorandum for the base, according to Reuters.

A Hong Kong-based spokesman for FSG told Reuters on Friday that the statement was “published in error by a staff member in Beijing” and had been taken off FSG’s website.

The removed statement had said that FSG signed a deal with the Kashgar Caohu industrial park in Tumxuk city in southern Xinjiang to build a training center.

Webmaster's Commentary:

With Erik Prince denying that he is developing a training facility in China, it probably means that he is doing just that.

The Ruling Class & An Undeclared Civil War

There is at present an undeclared and non-violent civil war being waged in this country. The underlying factor of any civil war is an elite ruling class desperate to maintain power at odds with a majority of a population seeking change. Also prevalent in most civil upheavals is the unleashing, by those determined to retain power, of the radicalized and ultimately uncontrollable dogs of war who more often than not devour their sponsors. Both elements are currently in play.

While the ruling class publicly obsesses over Donald Trump and denigrates the vast majority of the population, they have planted the seeds, by their actions, for a takeover of the country by a radical element that will turn on them as they are presently doing within the Democratic Party.

One Of The Biggest At-Home DNA Testing Companies Is Secretly Sharing Data With The FBI

Just one week ago, we warned that the government — helped by Congress (which adopted legislation allowing police to collect and test DNA immediately following arrests), President Trump (who signed the Rapid DNA Act into law), the courts (which have ruled that police can routinely take DNA samples from people who are arrested but not yet convicted of a crime), and local police agencies (which are chomping at the bit to acquire this new crime-fighting gadget) — was embarking on a diabolical campaign to create a nation of suspects predicated on a massive national DNA database.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Although I would be interesting to learn some of the background of my heritage, I would not use one of these services for precisely this reason.

This represents an absolute abolition, by the Federal Government, of the 4th Amendment, which (used to, at least theoretically), prevent Americans from having to deal with unreasonable search and seizure.

And in a companion story:

Genetics firm gives law enforcement free run of profiles without users’ permission

This is, by the way, not the firm mentioned above; however, if these two rivals are doing this, one can reason that almost all the DNA testing companies are doing this.

So if you are still thinking about having DNA work done, please find out if the company doing the testing has a legitimate, "opt out" form for you to have signed, and notarized.

Proposed Law to Allow Armed Police Inside Baltimore Schools Fails

The Fraternal Order of Police argued that there has never been a study that showed having armed police in schools makes the school more dangerous. They argued the opposite. Their theory is that by allowing police to carry their firearms inside school grounds it makes the schools safer. Their arguments fall on deaf ears when it comes to the school board. -- Baltimore is the only school district in Maryland that prevents law enforcement officers from carrying their sidearms.

In some states, the suspicions behind a civil forfeiture must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt in court, but there is no requirement of proof in South Carolina. ELLIOTT ABRAMS, TRUMP’S PICK TO BRING “DEMOCRACY” TO VENEZUELA, HAS SPENT HIS LIFE CRUSHING DEMOCRACY

ON DECEMBER 11, 1981 in El Salvador, a Salvadoran military unit created and trained by the U.S. Army began slaughtering everyone they could find in a remote village called El Mozote. Before murdering the women and girls, the soldiers raped them repeatedly, including some as young as 10 years old, and joked that their favorites were the 12-year-olds. One witness described a soldier tossing a 3-year-old child into the air and impaling him with his bayonet. The final death toll was over 800 people.

The next day, December 12, was the first day on the job for Elliott Abrams as assistant secretary of state for human rights and humanitarian affairs in the Reagan administration. Abrams snapped into action, helping to lead a cover-up of the massacre. News reports of what had happened, Abrams told the Senate, were “not credible,” and the whole thing was being “significantly misused” as propaganda by anti-government guerillas.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This appointment demonstrates to the world (as though the world needed any convincing) that the US government will do anything to obtain and expropriate those foreign resources they deem necessary to the financial health of its empire, and that having US-trained mercs killing and raping children is just "the cost of doing business", to get what it wants.

Right now, unfortunately, the Unhinged, surveilled state of America, really qualifies as the greatest war crimes perpetrator on the planet; and as an American, I am having to do everything I can to keep from reeling in numbed shock, to hear how horrific these actions have been, and continue to be.

Judge Denies Request to Unseal Assange Criminal Complaint Saying There is No Proof it Exists

A U.S. federal judge has ruled against a petition to unseal a criminal complaint against WikiLeaks publisher Julian Assange, arguing that there is no proof that it exists.

Judge Leonie Brinkema of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia decided on Wednesday to turn down the request by the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press to make public details of the complaint, the existence of which was made known inadvertently last year.

“The Government opposes the Committee’s application on the ground that it has neither confirmed nor denied whether charges have been filed against Assange and cannot be required to disclose that information before an arrest is made,” Brinkema wrote in her 10-page ruling.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I certainly hope that Julian Assange is wearing his bullet-proof undies right about now.

I would suggest it is more than likely that there are elements in the US government is hell-bent on assassinating this guy, if he leaves the sanctuary of the embassy right now.

This man is not "an enemy" of the people; he has been, however, an "enemy" of how things get done in DC, with utter impunity.

U.S. Push to Oust Venezuela’s Maduro Marks First Shot in Plan to Reshape Latin America

The Trump administration’s attempt to force out the president of Venezuela marked the opening of a new strategy to exert greater U.S. influence over Latin America, according to administration officials.

In sight isn’t just Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro, but also Cuba, an antagonist that has dominated American attention in the region for more than 50 years, as well as recent inroads made by Russia, China and Iran.

Vice President Mike Pence on Tuesday greeted Carlos Alfredo Vecchio, right, who was named a diplomatic representative to the U.S. by Juan Guaidó, who has claimed Venezuela’s presidency.Photo: Al Drago/Bloomberg News

While Mr. Maduro and his predecessor, Hugo Chávez, have long drawn Washington’s condemnation, the Trump administration is stocked with officials who have long believed Cuba to be the more serious national-security threat. They cite Cuba’s intelligence operations in the U.S., and its efforts to spread anti-American views in other Latin American countries.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is apparent that those people surrounding President Trump, who see no problems "regime changing" both Cuba and Venezuela, have their heads collectively so far up another, very dark orifice, that they are seeing the world, not with a 21st century vision which has learned the hard lessons of history, but through a very myopic, antique dystopian, 20th century vision, which utterly refuses to learn the hard lessons from world history.

So what we have here, is not a case of "shrunken heads", which are terrifying, but shrunken brains, which are even more terrifying to me.

These "shrunken brains" as we can see very clearly, create the kind of blind jingoistic rage we hear emanating from their "The US does no harm, and has every right to rule the world." message.

This has been coupled with both extreme SMD (selective memory disorder), on the part of these people, and intense demonization of both Venezuela and Cuba.

But what is missing, in these plans, is any true grasp of the situation at hand.

Would such a series of actions, sort of eating up Central and South America, much like Pacman, and turning these country's leadership to the US government's liking, have possibly worked in the 20th century, say in 1919?!?

The answer is, an unqualified "perhaps"; but can this be made to work in the 21st century?!? I fear, absoflippinglutely NOT.

This is absolute, utter desperation on the cusp of madness, and may well result in Russia and China coming to the aid of both countries, and beyond, perhaps even militarily.

It may well cause all the governments of South and Central America to become a very unified force against the United States, and create robust, economic and defense ties with larger countries when it is to their benefit.

Mr. President, a word, please: those answers and actions which might have been brought into play a century ago, cannot work at this moment, in the
21st century. As our President and Commander in Chief, you need to understand that.

I am very politely suggesting that you change tack here, before what these people are plotting results in yet another unmitigated disaster in Central and South America; Think about what we can do as a nation to "engage rather than enrage."

You may be close to "bearing fruit" with North Korea; I know that only time will tell here,

But those people who supported you in your 2016 campaign, absolutely did not intend for your foreign policy to bring us nearer to the abyss of a world war.

Senate Vote Opposes Ending US Wars in Syria, Afghanistan: Non-binding vote declares withdrawing troops a serious risk

In a surprising vote Thursday, the Senate voted 68-23 to pass a resolution from Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) expressing opposition to President Trump’s plan to withdraw US troops from Syria, and expressing opposition to any theoretical pullout from Afghanistan that might result from a negotiated deal to end that war.

The non-binding resolution was passed with overwhelming support from the Republican majority, setting them squarely against parts of President Trump’s foreign policy. A number of Democrats who voted against it expressed concern that it was tantamount to a vote advocating a state of permanent war.

Which it realistically is. The 2001 authorization for the Afghan War was built around 9/11 and the defeat of al-Qaeda. Neither are hugely relevant issues in 2019 Afghanistan, and a peace treaty being negotiated centers heavily around the Taliban promising to keep al-Qaeda and ISIS out of the country in the future.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As I have stipulated many times before on this blog, just because something is the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing the US government and military can do, is no bet they won't do it.

Staying on in Syria, and continuing the occupation of Afghanistan, are both exceptionally bad choices

Staying in Syria means more than a measure of concern about the US and Russia getting into a military engagement here, as the US presence was neither asked for nor recognised by the Syrian government.

The Iranians are here, but in very small numbers, and have been working with the government to get rid of the US/Western-backed, trained, and funded jihadists.

So at the end of the day, Syrians should be able to make their own self-determination about who stays in power as Syria's government, or who does not.

THE U.S. GOVERNMENT’S LOVE OF FOREIGN DICTATORSHIPS

Lest anyone be tempted to believe that President Trump and other U.S. interventionists are intervening in Venezuela because of some purported concern for the Venezuelan people, let’s examine just a few examples that will bring a dose of reality to the situation. This latest intervention is nothing more than another interventionist power play, one intended to replace one dictatorial regime with another.

Egypt comes to mind. It is ruled by one of the most brutal and tyrannical military dictatorships in the world. The U.S. government loves it, supports it, and partners with it. There is no concern for the Egyptian citizenry, who have to suffer under this brutal tyranny and oppression.

Saudi Arabia also comes to mind. It too is a brutal and tyrannical dictatorship, also a murderous one. The U.S. government loves it too, supports it, and partners with it. There is no concern for Saudi citizens who have to suffer under this brutal tyranny and oppression.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is never the people of a country the US regime changes who matter; it is always about the money and the resources.

Do you think for one moment, that the US is concerned about the people of Venezuela, rather than its proven oil reserves?!?

Of course, not!!

YOUR COMPLETE GUIDE TO THE NY TIMES’ SUPPORT OF US-BACKED COUPS IN LATIN AMERICA

On Friday, The New York Times continued its long, predictable tradition of backing U.S. coups in Latin America by publishing an editorial praising Donald Trump’s attempt to overthrow Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. This will be the 10th such coup the paper has backed since the creation of the CIA over 70 years ago.

A survey of The New York Times archives shows the Times editorial board has supported 10 out of 12 American-backed coups in Latin America, with two editorials—those involving the 1983 Grenada invasion and the 2009 Honduras coup—ranging from ambiguous to reluctant opposition. The survey can be viewed here.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I have to wonder just how many of the op-ed writers for the NY Times are invested in the military/industrial complex.

This pathetic attempt to overthrow the legitimately elected President of Venezuela, to date, has proven itself to be an epic fail, to date, with Venezuela's military still standing strong behind Maduro.

Unless and until that changes, Venezuela's "regime change" will just be another pipe-dream for the American Deep State, which will respond by sulking off into a corner, and nursing its geopolitical wounds; that is, of course, until it thinks it has the strength to fight another day, with another coup somewhere on the planet.

INSIDE THE UAE’S SECRET HACKING TEAM OF U.S. MERCENARIES

Two weeks after leaving her position as an intelligence analyst for the U.S. National Security Agency in 2014, Lori Stroud was in the Middle East working as a hacker for an Arab monarchy.

She had joined Project Raven, a clandestine team that included more than a dozen former U.S. intelligence operatives recruited to help the United Arab Emirates engage in surveillance of other governments, militants and human rights activists critical of the monarchy.

Stroud and her team, working from a converted mansion in Abu Dhabi known internally as “the Villa,” would use methods learnt from a decade in the U.S intelligence community to help the UAE hack into the phones and computers of its enemies.

French MPs condemn 'authoritarian' plans to curtail gilets jaunes protests

French politicians have approved controversial measures to ban what the government calls “brute” troublemakers from street demonstrations as gilets jaunes (yellow vests) anti-government protests enter their 12th week.

There were tense and heated exchanges in parliament late on Wednesday night, including from rebels within Emmanuel Macron’s own centrist party, as deputies backed giving regional prefects – local state security officials – the power to ban people presumed to be violent from taking part in demonstrations.

Deputies on the left and some on the centre said the measures posed an “authoritarian” threat to civil liberties.

REPORT: US INTERROGATORS WORKING AT UAE PRISONS

US interrogators are present in UAE prisons in Yemen, the Daily Beast has revealed today, providing shocking evidence that the American military is a witness to the torture of Yemenis.

In a series of interviews, two former detainees have testified to being interrogated by men with American accents, who looked on as they were beaten and electrocuted.

“They would strip me naked, they would beat me very harshly and slowly you start to understand the dynamics in the room. These are the two people, one of them is overseeing the whole interrogation and the other is doing the questioning and ordering the torture,” a Yemeni man identified only as Salvatore said, suggesting that the US was more that an unwilling observer.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Under Gina Haspel's tutelage and leadership of the USA's CIA, it appears that US-sanctioned torture, and US participation in torture, is still alive and kicking (sometimes, literally), and well, at prisons around the world.

And forgive me, but wasn't this the same woman who pledged to the American Congress, and to the American people, that torture would not be used, under her watch as head of the CIA?!?

UNDER INTERROGATION, TORTURE QUEEN GINA HASPEL PROMISES TO STOP TORTURING
While Trump’s C.I.A. nominee pledged not to re-start the agency’s torture program, no amount of brutal questioning could get her to say the practice was immoral.

Of course, in retrospect, looking at the lady's dubious, and vilely dripping track record, before landing the "top dog" job at the CIA, it didn't take much intelligence to realize that this was simply another pack of lies she told, just to get that job.

Having chosen this woman as the head of the CIA, it is painfully clear that President Trump doesn't care at all about how things are done in this government; just that the US maintains its economic and weapons hegemony over all the other countries on earth, no matter what that might entail, including the use torture.

What he is pathologically unable to see, is that this vision is rapidly being disrupted by countries choosing not to use the dollar at all in their transactions with other countries, such as Iran and China, and working with local currencies only.

It is deeply disconcerting to me, that President Trump's two BFFs in the Middle East, are the Monster of Yemen, Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince bin Salman, and Israel's Butcher of Gaza, Prime Minister Netanyahu.

However, I think I know why this has happened.

Both men have the supreme power over life and death in their respective countries, and can order hits on alleged enemies just as easily as you or I might order breakfast at a restaurant, and neither country actually has a legitimate Constitution which could, potentially, restrain them from putting other people in harm's way; in some ways, President Trump is a little jealous because of that.

And our weaponry?!? China and Russia are way ahead of the US in terms of working war weaponry that is both cost-effective, and elegantly designed, with which the US military cannot not even begin to compete at the moment.

SOUTH CAROLINA COPS LOVE ASSET FORFEITURE SO MUCH THEY TAKE CASH FROM CRIME VICTIMS

You'd think we wouldn't need any more data points on asset forfeiture abuse, but since many states still allow law enforcement to steal cash and personal property from people never even accused of criminal acts, maybe more data points are needed to show lawmakers why this abhorrent practice should be ended.

The Greenville News has put together an in-depth report on asset forfeiture in South Carolina, culled from asset forfeiture cases run through the state's court system. What it found is unsurprising, but still shocking. The article opens with a small sampling of injustices perpetrated by the criminal justice system.

Cash is king in South Carolina. Law enforcement loves taking it. Under the pretense of dismantling drug syndicates, law enforcement officers are taking money from waitresses, businessmen, and crime victims. Cash motivates law enforcement efforts -- dubious drug-focused shakedowns that are often given far too much credibility by local journalists.

Webmaster's Commentary:

US ARMY SAYS AT LEAST 24 AL-SHABAB MEMBERS KILLED IN AIR STRIKE

The United States armed forces said it has killed 24 members of the al-Shabab armed group in an air strike carried out on Wednesday.

In a statement released on Thursday, the United States Africa Command said the strike took place on a camp near Shebeeley, Hiran region in central Somalia.

"Precision strikes are part of our strategy. Strikes continue to help our partners make progress in their fight against the transnational terrorists who oppose peace in Somalia and the region," Director of US Africa Command Major General Gregg Olson said in the statement.

According to the press release, "no civilians were injured or killed in this airstrike".

Webmaster's Commentary:

Somalia is blessed with an embarrassment of riches, in terms of natural resources, yet to be exploited; this is why we see the violence continuing to occur, because this is a struggle for the future of this county, and who will have the power to bring Somalia fully into the 21st century.

One expects such a statement, about no civilian casualties, at the end of a US military press briefing.

I do not believe that last piece of tripe, for one second.

This follows the usual script of attempted pacification of the citizens of this country; the expropriation of various resources to which the US government has utterly no moral right; US-friendly countries only being allowed to develop a marketplace here, the regime being changed,as to be as US centric as possible; and whatever resources a country has, being only sold in US dollars.

U.S. COURT FINDS SYRIA RESPONSIBLE FOR KILLING AMERICAN JOURNALIST MARIE COLVIN

A FEDERAL JUDGE in Washington, D.C. has ordered the Syrian government to pay $302 million in damages for the murders of journalists Marie Colvin and Remi Ochlik in a 2012 artillery strike. The decision, issued on Wednesday, marks the first time in the seven-year conflict that a court has declared Syrian forces loyal to the government of President Bashar al-Assad responsible for deliberately attacking civilians.

“A targeted murder of an American citizen, whose courageous work was not only important, but vital to our understanding of warzones and of wars generally, is outrageous, and therefore a punitive damages award that [multiplies] the impact on the responsible state is warranted,” wrote Judge Amy Berman Jackson.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That same bit in that last sentence, should hold just as true for US journalists and bloggers here at home, as it is for reporters abroad.

And she, and the photo journalist with her, had to know that they were operating in a war zone; made the choice to be there; and unfortunately, suffered the consequences.

But what I am seeing here is more demonization of Syria, whether or not this event actually happened, and regardless of whether it can be proven true. It may well be, but that is not the point.

I think that those in foggy bottom are waiting to see what the overnights looked like on this issue, in their quest to martial support for yet another Syrian engagement, even though that may mean fighting Russians on the ground, or in the air, neither choice being a wise one, right now.

We understand by now, that demonization, plus sanctions, are the tell-tale preludes to.... the US military's attempting to kick another country's military right in the proverbial shins.

This would be one of the most vulnerable of all moments to attempt to even be contemplating a US war with Russia on the ground in Syria, and I say this as someone who cares deeply about the current trajectory of the US's foreign and domestic policies.

And the reasons I am saying this are pretty self-evident; our military does not have the weaponry; the troop strength; the money, or the manufacturing to ensure a positive outcome for a US war against Russia in Syria, or anywhere else, for that matter.

Emmanuel Macron SCRAMBLES for control as Yellow Vest protestors plot WEEKEND OF CHAOS

This weekend will mark the 12th straight Saturday of anti-government protests by yellow vests, who complain that the centrist government is insensitive to their needs and demands. The draft law will see protesters who “voluntarily mask their faces” fined up to £13,000 and handed a one-year prison sentence. The provision stipulates that it will be up to the person charged to prove to judges that they did not intend to commit a violent act, and give a “legitimate reason” for covering their face.

...

But the new law has already sparked criticism among opposition MPs – and even within President Emmanuel Macron’s own centrist movement –, who say the draft bill will encroach on “civil liberties”.

Far-left MPs of the opposition La France Insoumise party slammed the ban on face covering as “arbitrary,” while Socialists said it was “unenforceable”.
