Putin Speaks Out For First Time On US Recognition Of Golan As Israeli Territory

Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed, on Monday, that the United States’ recognition of the occupied Syrian Golan Heights as Israeli territory is “a violation of the United Nations Security Council resolutions.”

Following talks with his visiting Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Putin for the first time commented on US President Trump’s recent decision to recognize Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

Putin stressed, “As for recognition of the Golan Heights as a part of Israel, you know Russia’s position on that. It was laid bare in the Russian foreign ministry’s statement.”

He added, “This decision runs counter to the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.”

Trump says sanctions on North Korea to stay in place

In meeting with South Korea's Moon, Trump says it's 'not the right time' to ease sanctions on Pyongyan

US President Donald Trump and South Korea's Moon Jae-in agreed on Thursday on the importance of nuclear talks with North Korea, but the two leaders aren't completely aligned on whether sanctions would pressure Kim Jong Un to give up his nuclear weapons or drive him away from the negotiating table.

Trump, in his first meeting with Moon since the unsuccessful US summit with Kim in Hanoi, said the United States wanted to keep economic sanctions in place to pressure Kim>>>

Israel fails attempted Moon landing as comm with spacecraft lost

Israel’s private spacecraft Beresheet crashed into the Moon on Thursday after being hit with problems during descent, denying the Jewish state a place in the elite club of nations that mastered a lunar landing.

“Small country, big dreams,” the engraving on the spacecraft’s body read, but those dreams weren’t destined to come true.

Beresheet’s engine stopped working around 10 kilometers from the surface, with the vehicle crashing into the Moon at a speed of over 130 meters per second.

Israeli Beresheet Spacecraft to Attempt Historic Moon Landing Today! Watch Live

To date, three countries have landed on the moon. Today, that number may become four.

Israel launched its first lunar mission, a spacecraft called Beresheet, on Feb. 21, riding piggyback on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. It spent six weeks orbiting Earth in leisurely, ever-widening circles before slipping into orbit around the moon on April 4. It remained there for a week, preparing for the defining moment of the mission: attempting to touch down softly on the moon's surface.

That moment comes today (April 11), around 3 or 4 p.m. EDT (1700 or 1800 GMT) — the exact time has yet to be announced. The Beresheet mission partners — nonprofit organization SpaceIL and government-owned aerospace company Israel Aerospace Industries — will livestream events surrounding the landing from mission control. You can watch the broadcast on Space.com or on SpaceIL's Facebook page.

Netanyahu confirms his party spied on Palestinian voters in apparent effort at voter suppression

A few Likud activists were caught Tuesday morning as the polls opened in Israel, carrying hidden cameras (one was disguised as a pen) into poll stations in Palestinian towns. An unofficial Likud statement later said Likud deployed 1,300 such cameras in Palestinian poll stations; this number is so far unconfirmed. Netanyahu himself acknowledged the deployment of cameras, claiming they’re supposed to “keep the voting process kosher.”

The Israeli public relations firm Kaizler Inbar claimed credit for dispatching 1350 volunteers with cameras in a post on Facebook today, stating they pleaded “guilty” to suppressing Arab voter turnout and alluded to coordinating with the Likud party.

Weasel words and chutzpah can’t sustain the myth of democratic Israel, but nobody cares

The word “chutzpah” has its roots in the old Hebrew “?utspâ” and, as adopted by Yiddish, basically means “audacity bordering on downright cheek”. We’ve seen and heard plenty of that in Israel this week as triumphant right-wing blocs head to the Knesset after Tuesday’s General Election.

Predictably, Benjamin Netanyahu has been ladling out chutzpah in huge dollops, insisting that his was a convincing political victory despite a historically low voter turnout in the Arab community after it emerged that his Likud Party had deployed 1,200 hidden cameras on its activists to monitor — and, no doubt, to intimidate — Arab voters in local polling stations. It was a sinister move in what is supposed to be a democracy — the only one in the Middle East, we are told ad nauseam — and one which has already compelled Israel’s Central Elections Committee to lodge an official police complaint.

Presidential Candidate Cory Booker Loves Himself Some AIPAC And Israel

How do you take a typical progressive and turn him or her into a fascist? One possible way is to send the poor bastard off on an all expenses paid trip to Israel where a meticulously crafted and sophisticated brainwashing program will make one believe almost anything regarding the noble and God-chosen Israelis versus the satanic Arab terrorists. Add into that the fact that being pro-Israel is a plus in many career fields and it is easy to understand why a monster like Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gets favorable press and commentary in the United States even as he is reviled in most of the rest of the world.

The liberal to fascist metamorphosis is most evident among Democratic Party politicians, who have been successfully targeted by the Israel Lobby and its deep pocketed supporters for many years. It is all part of a massive public relations campaign, which some might instead refer to as disinformation, planned and executed by the Israeli foreign ministry and its diaspora supporters to advance Israeli interests in spite of the fact that the government of Netanyahu has implemented and executed fundamentally anti-democratic programs while at the same time committing war crimes and violating a whole series of United Nations resolutions.

Egypt Withdraws From US-Led “Arab Nato” Initiative Against Iran

Egypt has pulled out of the US effort to forge an “Arab NATO” with key Arab allies, according to four sources familiar with the decision, in a blow to the Trump administration’s strategy to contain Iranian power, Reuters reports.

Egypt withdrew because it doubted the seriousness of the initiative, had yet to see a formal blueprint laying it out, and because of the danger that the plan would increase tensions with Iran, said an Arab source who, like the others, spoke on condition of anonymity.

Dem presidentials ‘slam’ Netanyahu, and Israel advocates start doing post-election damage control

Three Democratic candidates have “slammed” Benjamin Netanyahu over his promise to annex West Bank settlements, NBC says. The slammers are Beto O’Rourke, Bernie Sanders, and Pete Buttigieg, though Amy Klobuchar and Julian Castro have issued milder criticisms of the prime minister.

Buttigieg said of the annexation idea:

This provocation is harmful to Israeli, Palestinian, and American interests. Supporting Israel does not have to mean agreeing with Netanyahu‘s politics. I don’t.

Netanyahu appeals to “racism,” Sanders said. “I’m not a great fan of his, and, frankly, I hope he loses his election.”

More than 19,000 illegal settlement units built in Netanyahu era

Israeli rights group Peace Now has pointed out that more than 19,000 settlement units were built in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem during the Netanyahu era, Quds Press reported on Tuesday. All Israeli settlements are illegal under international law.

According to the rights group, 13,608 settlement units (70 per cent) were built in isolated settlements which Israel might evacuate if a permanent deal is ever reached with the Palestinians. This number of housing units means an increase in the number of illegal Jewish settlers in the occupied Palestinian territories of at least 60,000.

Between 2008 and 2017, Peace Now noted, 132,300 settlers were moved into the occupied territories, raising the total number of settlers to 413,100 by the end of 2017.

The unfinished Gaza war: What Netanyahu hopes to gain from attacking Palestinian prisoners

The current violence targeting Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails dates back to January 2. It was then that Israel’s Public Security Minister, Gilad Erdan declared that the “party is over.”

“Every so often, infuriating pictures appear of cooking in the terrorist wings. This party is coming to an end,” Erdan was quoted in the Jerusalem Post.

Then, the so-called Erdan’s Committee recommended various measures aimed at ending the alleged “party”, which included placing limits on prisoners’ use of water, banning food preparations in cells, and installing jamming devices to block the alleged use of smuggled cell phones.

The last measure, in particular, caused outrage among prisoners, for such devices have been linked to severe headaches, fainting, and other long-term ailments.

Erdan followed his decision with a promise of the “use of all means in (Israel’s) disposal” to control any prisoners’ protests in response to the new restrictions.

The massacre took place against the backdrop of the bitter conflict that preceded the end of the British Mandate in Palestine, Al Ray Palestinian Media Agency reports. The Arabs rejected the UN proposal and the conflict became even more intense.

Hamas knows very well that Israel is running out of military and political options, let alone solutions to the conflict. Hamas voted Bibi. Why is UNICEF a “proud supporter” of Israeli settlements?

UNICEF is sponsoring a major EU-financed project to link Israeli settlements to Europe’s electricity grid.

The United Nations children’s agency is listed among the “proud supporters” of the EuroAsia Interconnector, a project to build a 1,000-mile subsea cable linking the European electricity grid with Israel via Greece and Cyprus.

This means that Israel’s settlements in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Syria’s Golan Heights – all illegal under international law – would be linked to the European network and would benefit from Israel’s ability to trade electricity through the interconnector.

'Out with system': Algeria protesters reject interim president

Thousands rally in Algiers to denounce appointment of establishment insider Abdelkader Bensalah as acting head of state.

Police in Algeria's capital have fired tear gas and water cannon at thousands of students protesting against the appointment of a new interim president who is a part of the ruling order they have been seeking to remove.

The demonstration in central Algiers on Tuesday took place as parliament officially confirmed upper house Speaker Abdelkader Bensalah as acting head of state for the next 90 days to replace Abdelaziz Bouteflika, who resigned last week under pressure from the weeks-long, youth-led protests.

Footage showed security forces moving in on the demonstrators shouting "out with the system", dousing them with pepper spray, shooting from a water cannon and using batons to break up the crowd.

Bensalah's appointment is in accordance with Algeria's constitution but the protesters who drove Bouteflika out after 20 years in office are unsatisfied with the move because he is a key ally of the former president and a seasoned establishment insider.

US trade deficit soars despite Trump tariffs

***
US President Donald Trump has vowed to impose import tariffs on $11 billion worth of goods from the European Union after the World Trade Organization (WTO) ruled EU subsidies to Airbus caused “adverse effects” to the US.
Earlier this week, the US Trade Representative (USTR) said Washington was mulling tariffs on a wide range of European exports to the US, including large commercial aircraft and parts, as well as wine, cheese, and dairy products.

The US threat has been sharply criticized by EU officials, who said the figure of $11 billion was “greatly exaggerated.” The bloc is reportedly weighing retaliatory measures against the US over Boeing subsidies. Airbus said it saw no legal basis for Washington’s move and warned of deepening transatlantic trade tensions.

A Failed State Called Libya

New reports suggest forces loyal to Libya’s Tripoli government have recaptured the former international airport in the south of the capital from eastern forces. This is while clashes are still ongoing in the Qasr ben Ghashir area next to the airport.

This comes after an increase of fighting and violence in Libya, as rival factions contending to be the country's legitimate government drag out a prolonged conflict. Leading the military, General Khalifa Haftar has vowed on an assault on Tripoli, the country's capital city and seat of the administration backed by members of the United Nations Security Council. Western nations have called for the fighting to stop, accusing the marshal of launching an illegitimate and undemocratic coup.

Netanyahu Says Trump Named Iran Guards a Terror Group at His Request

In a Monday Tweet, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked President Trump for declaring Iran’s Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization, saying that he had personally requested Trump’s move.

Netanyahu said that the move would keep the world safe from Iran, and would also serve the interests of Israel, saying he was glad Trump “acceeded to another one of my important requests.”

Netanyahu’s emphasis that this is all his idea, and Trump is giving him everything he wants, is clearly being done with an eye toward Tuesday’s election, as he attempts to convince voters that he is able to get concessions out of Trump no one else could.

Well-Known Zionist Settler-Activist Sees More Land Grabs and a “Greater Israel” as a Given

A well-known and controversial Israeli settler-activist, Daniella Weiss, recently told Haaretz that her vision of a future Israel, following the impending Israeli annexation of Palestine’s West Bank, includes parts of Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Iraq and Iran. Weiss — former mayor of the illegal West Bank settlement of Kedumim — claimed during the interview that this vision of a future “Greater Israel” was not “extreme” but a “basic Jewish approach” and was “the only way to continue Zionism.”

Interviewed by Haaretz columnist Bradley Burston — who personally opposes illegal, Jewish-only settlements in the West Bank — Weiss expounded at length on her role in making a “two-state solution” impossible by founding and expanding settlements throughout Palestine’s West Bank.

How Netanyahu’s election gifts are murdering international law

With the Golan Heights now recognised as Israeli territory by the US, and Russia and Egypt helping to deliver gifts ahead of today’s general election, it looks like Israel’s dramatic swing to the right has been internationally accepted.

“There is a very important principle in international life,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said last week at the Golan signing ceremony at the White House in Washington DC. “When you start wars of aggression, you lose territory, do not come and claim it afterwards. It belongs to us.” As absurd and preposterous as it may be, he said this with no attempt to find an argument that could be reconciled with reason. This complete indifference to the international community’s opinion says a lot about Netanyahu’s position while US President Donald Trump is in office.

Yet Another Senator from Israel

How do you take a typical progressive and turn him or her into a fascist? One possible way is to send the poor bastard off on an all expenses paid trip to Israel where a meticulously crafted and sophisticated brainwashing program will make one believe almost anything regarding the noble and God-chosen Israelis versus the satanic Arab terrorists. Add into that the fact that being pro-Israel is a plus in many career fields and it is easy to understand why a monster like Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gets favorable press and commentary in the United States even as he is reviled in most of the rest of the world.

Jewish Lobbyists Like the ADL Are Behind the Disgraceful Amazon Book Bannings

As most are surely aware, the last year or two has seen a growing crackdown on free speech and free thought across the Internet, with our constitutionally-protected First Amendment rights being circumvented through the agency of monopolistic private sector corporations such as Facebook, Twitter, and Google. Although as yet our government has not gained the power to ban discordant views nor punish their advocates, anonymous tech company censors regularly take these steps, seemingly based upon entirely opaque and arbitrary standards which lack any power of appeal. No one really knows why some individuals are banned or “de-platformed” and others are not, and surely this looming uncertainty has imposed self-censorship upon hundreds of individuals for every publicized victim who receives an exemplary punishment.

SYRIAN WAR: US AND ISRAEL PREPARE FOR COORDINATED CAMPAIGN AGAINST IRANIAN FORCES

The situation in Syria is remaining relatively stable amid the continued limited ISIS attacks on the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on the eastern bank of the Euphrates and ceasefire violations in the Idlib de-militarized zone.

Over the past few days, pro-militant sources have repeatedly claimed that the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and even the Russian Aerospace Forces have delivered strikes on so-called “opposition targets” in northern Hama and southern Idlib. While these reports are mostly propaganda exaggerations, the situation there is in fact complicated with both sides attacking each other on more or less constant basis.

Hamas Promises: ‘Israel Will Be Forced To Evacuate Tel-Aviv If War Begins In Gaza’

Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar has promised that if a new war begins, the group’s forces will make Israel evacuate not only the settlements near the enclave border, but also some of its main cities, such as Ashdod, Ashkelon, Negev and Tel-Aviv.

“We are ten times stronger than we were in 2014 [Israeli-Gaza conflict],” he said.

At the same time, Sinwar noted that Israel “will only suffer” if the war is “imposed” against the Gaza Strip. He promised that in this case, Hamas would act as “shield and sword” for the inhabitants of the region.

In recent months, Israel has repeatedly bombarded Hamas positions in Gaza in response to missile launches from the enclave’s territory. Despite numerous ceasefire understandings reached, the conflict has been constantly restarted.

Stick with 'Bibi'? Israeli voters make their choice

Tamara Hacohen, 18, says she "grew up with Bibi," referring to Israel's brash prime minister who has dominated the country's politics for years.

But now she believes "nothing has improved" under Benjamin Netanyahu -- known by his nickname Bibi -- and is ready for change.

Benny Saville could not agree less. For the 49-year-old, Netanyahu "is the best".

Trump’s Neocons See Erdogan As Their Ticket To A Region-Wide Middle East War

Turkish troops and armored units are massed along Turkey’s southern border awaiting orders to invade northern Syria. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan wants to clear a ten mile-deep swath of land east of the Euphrates River in order to remove terrorist-linked militants (YPG) currently occupying the territory. The proposed offensive would put US Special Forces in the line of fire which significantly increases the likelihood of US casualties. If American troops are killed or wounded by the Turkish operation, Washington will respond in force leading to a potentially catastrophic face-off between the two NATO allies. The possibility of a violent clash between Turkey and the United States has never been greater than it is today.

On Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo warned Turkey that any unilateral action in Syria would have “devastating consequences.”>>>

China’s PLA Troops In Venezuela: A Watershed Moment In World Politics

The reported arrival of Chinese military personnel in Venezuela last weekend is undoubtedly a major event in world politics.

Unlike Russia, which has a history of force projection abroad, this is an extremely rare Chinese move. Although vital Chinese interests are at stake in the war against terrorist groups in Afghanistan and Syria, China refrained from publicising any such deployment.

The reports mention that the group of Chinese military personnel is 120-strong and arrived on the Margarita Island in the Caribbean Sea off the Venezuelan mainland on March 28 ‘to deliver humanitarian aid and military supplies to the government forces.’ After delivering the humanitarian supplies, the Chinese PLA troops were apparently transferred to a Venezuelan military facility.

Netanyahu, Trump and Putin: A love story

The Israeli prime minister has worked hard to grow his political bromance with the presidents of Russia and the US.

Call him a crook, call him a warmonger, but who other than Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could boast two successful summits with both US and Russian presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, all within two weeks of the Israeli elections?

His immediate motives are clear, but there is something beyond his obviously shrewd use of diplomacy for electoral gain. There are greater strategic implications of such high-powered statesmanship.

So how did a politically challenged, corruption-ridden leader of a tiny state get the world superpowers to do his bidding and on his schedule?

The answer lies in a three-way bromance that has been blossoming for some time, and could potentially shape the Middle East for years to come.

Lawyers Worldwide Urge International Court: Investigate Israeli Crimes

On the eve of the first anniversary of the “Great March of Return” at the Gaza border, lawyers and jurists around the world are calling on the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate and prosecute Israeli crimes against the Palestinians.

Today, the International Association of Democratic Lawyers presented a petition from the International Lawyers Campaign for the Investigation and Prosecution of Crimes Committed Against the Palestinian People to Fatou Bensouda, chief prosecutor of the ICC. The petition urges Bensouda to initiate a full investigation and prosecute violations of international humanitarian law and international human rights law committed by Israeli officials in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. The petition has garnered the support of tens of thousands of lawyers worldwide.

Israel is trying to maim Gaza Palestinians into silence

Earlier this year, the UN Human Rights Council's Commission of Inquiry released their report stating that during the Great March of Return, which commenced on March 30, 2018, Israeli snipers intentionally fired on civilians who presented no danger to them - they shot protesters, medics, journalists, disabled people, and even children.

The February 2019 Situation Report from the World Health Organization (WHO) states that 266 Gazans have been killed since the beginning of the march. But civilian deaths are only part of the story. The report also highlights the fact that in just under one year, 29,130 people - more than 0.01 percent of the population of the Gaza Strip - have been injured. Of those, 6,557 sustained live ammunition gunshot wounds and in 89 percent (5,183) of these cases, the lower limbs were affected.

Netanyahu doubles down: ‘Palestinian sovereignty…is dead’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Israeli media in an interview yesterday that he intends to annex West Bank settlements, “if possible with American support”.

According to the Jerusalem Post, Netanyahu told Arutz 7 that he intended to “apply Israeli law to the communities in Judea and Samaria [the West Bank]” during “the next term”.

Asked whether the Trump administration was aware of these plans, Netanyahu replied: “Sure”, adding: “They [the US] will react as they will react. We will see. These are my principles.”

The Likud leader also doubled down on his vow not to remove illegal settlements.

“If we do not tear out the settlers, then who are they going to live under? They are going to be under Palestinian sovereignty? That is dead,” he declared.

There are no fig leaves left to cover the uncomfortable and illegal facts about Israel

There is nothing left of the rotten fig leaves which have been used to cover Israeli Apartheid. On 19 July last year, Israel’s parliament and main democratic institution, the Knesset, passed the racist Nation-State Law, which gave the right to self-determination in Israel only to Jews. In the run up to tomorrow’s General Election, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pointed Israel’s Arab citizens to the 22 Arab countries to which they could move.

Emboldened by US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the illegally occupied Syrian Golan Heights, Netanyahu’s appetite for more land theft has turned to the West Bank. He declared that Israel must exercise security control west of the River Jordan and insisted that he will not move a single Jewish settler out of the illegal settlements, whether in the blocs or isolated areas.

Netanyahu Rules Out Palestinian State, Says He’ll Annex West Bank

Looking to continue his bid to court right-wing voters on the eve of the election, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took extra steps to announce that not only will the Palestinians never have their own state, but that he, assuming he is reelected, will immediately start annexing the occupied West Bank into Israel, starting with settlements.

Netanyahu ruled out ever evacuating any “community” built in occupied territory, and insisted that the realization of a Palestinian state would necessarily “endanger our existence.” He took credit for the last eight years of the Palestinians not getting a state, saying no one had ever had to withstand such pressure.

Whether this is just usual pre-election bluster or a statement of policy is unclear. Netanyahu claimed to have already informed Trump of his intentions, saying that he would prefer to do the annexations gradually, with US support, but would do it either way.

The One Jewish State Solution

Some of the more advanced Israel/Palestine commentators have agreed amongst themselves that the ‘one-state solution’ amounts to empty talk for the simple reason that Palestine is ‘one-state’ already: It has natural borders, one electric grid and even one international pre-dial number (+972). But this beautiful and historic land, stretched from the river to the sea, is dominated by a foreign and hostile ideology that is racially supremacist and vile towards the indigenous people of the land.

Some of those perceptive analysts have been bewildered following a peculiar shift in Israeli politics: while the so-called Israeli ‘Left’ has been advocating racial and ethnic segregation between Jews and Palestinians by adopting the two-state solution, it is actually the Zionist ultra-right that has been pushing constantly for an integration of the ‘land’ by means of Israeli annexation.

The Democrat was in Iowa over the weekend to drum up support for his run for president when a voter asked him to comment on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, CNN reported. In his response, O’Rourke criticized Netanyahu as a racist leader who had obstructed peace in the region.
