I Asked Israel's Only Journalist in Palestine to Show Me Something Shocking – This Is What I Saw

Show me something that will shock me, I told Amira Hass. So Israel’s only journalist in the Palestinian West Bank – or Palestine, if you still believe in so unorthodox a word – took me down a road outside Ramallah that I remember as a highway which led to Jerusalem. But now, just over a hill, it deteriorates into a half tarmac road, a set of closed, rusting shop doors, and garbage. The same old summer smell of raw sewage creeps up the road. It lies, green and gentle, in a pool at the bottom of the wall.

Russia's new missile defenses in Syria look likely to set off a shooting war against Israel

Russia announced on Monday it would send its advanced S-300 missile defense systems to Syria after it lost a spy plane to errant Syrian air defense fire— but the new set-up puts Israel at high risk of killing Russians and starting a war.

Russia blames Israel for Syria, its own ally, firing a Russian-made air defense missile that missed Israeli jets attacking Syria and instead killed 15 Russian servicemen on an Il-20 spy plane.

According to Russia, Israeli F-16s flew in low under the Il-20 to either shield themselves from air defense fire or make Syrian air defenses, which use outdated technology, shoot down the bigger, easier to spot Il-20 rather than the sleeker F-16s.

Whether or not Israel purposefully used the Il-20 to its advantage remains an open question. But it exposed a glaring flaw in Syrian and Russian military cooperation, which Moscow is due to close with the S-300.

Palestinians say one killed as Israeli troops fire on Gaza protest

Israeli forces killed a Palestinian who was among a group of Gazans throwing burning tires and fireworks during a protest along the border on Sunday, officials in Gaza said.

An Israeli army spokesman said “hundreds of rioters and demonstrators” had gathered along the border.

“The rioters were burning tires and hurling burning tires and firecrackers,” the spokesman said, adding that the soldiers “responded with riot dispersal means” and operated “in accordance with standard operating procedures.”

Israel uses occupied Palestinian lands for high-speed rail link

Israel is building a rail-link form Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem that passes through parts of the occupied West Bank, in a move that Palestinians believe is further institutionalising the occupation on their territories.
The scheme is a part of a $2 billion project to build a high-speed rail link between Tel Aviv's Ben Guirion Airport and Jerusalem within 40 minutes, with trains travelling at speeds of up to 160 kilometres per hour (100 mph).

The line will also run through parts of the occupied West Bank, such as the Palestinian village of Beit Surik, located on the outskirts of Jerusalem and in the Latrun Valley.

Despite the fact the rail link will illegally use Palestinian land, Palestinians will generally not be allowed to take advantage of the new form of transport.

Why Israel is a racist state

That Israel is a racsist state is a well-established fact. On July On July 19 2018, it enacted a quasi-constitutional nationality bill – ‘Basic law: Israel as the nation-state of the Jewish people’ – which has been widely condemned as institutionalising discrimination against Israel’s non-Jewish citizens. As many have observed, this law merely codifies and formalises a reality that long predates it.1) Within its pre-1967 borders, Israel is an illiberal semi-democracy. It defines itself as “Jewish and democratic”, but, as its critics point out, it is “democratic for Jews, Jewish for others”. In the territories ruled by it since 1967, Israel is a military tyranny, applying one system of laws and regulations to Jewish settlers and an entirely separate one to the indigenous Palestinian Arabs.

Pro-Israeli Terror Threat at Labour Conference Covered Up By MSM

A fringe venue at the Labour conference was evacuated last night after the screening of a film about my friend Jackie Walker was cancelled by a terrorist bomb threat. Jackie, a black Jewish prominent critic of Israel, is currently among those suspended from the Labour Party over accusations of anti-semitism which are, in her case, nonsense.

What is astonishing is that the state and corporate media, which has made huge play around the entirely fake news of threats to pro-Israel MP Luciana Berger leading to her being given a police escort to protect her from ordinary delegates, has completely ignored this actual and disruptive pro-Israeli threat – except where they have reported the bomb threat, using the big lie technique, as a further example of anti-semitism in the Labour Party!

Autopsy shows Palestinian beaten to death, PA says

Preliminary results of the autopsy on Muhammad al-Rimawi show that he died as a result of severe beatings by Israeli soldiers, Palestinian authorities are saying.

The Israeli army is disputing this.

The autopsy was conducted at Israel’s Abu Kabir Forensic Institute in the presence of Dr. Rayan al-Ali, the Palestinian Authority’s chief medical examiner.

Al-Rimawi, 24, died shortly after he was beaten by Israeli soldiers in his home in the occupied West Bank village of Beit Rima on 18 September.

“The martyr was subjected to a policy officially approved by Israeli political and military circles, which allows soldiers to act freely and at their own discretion with detainees,” the Palestinian Authority’s Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs stated, according to Quds News Network.

“This led Israeli soldiers to use beatings and assault in their worst forms.”

War criminal promoted to chief of Israel lobby group

War criminals are seldom out of work. The shrewdest can turn a bloodstained history to their advantage.

The career of Israeli military strategist Michael Herzog is a good case in point.

Herzog has been sued by human rights activists over his role in a 2002 attack on Gaza. Despite – or perhaps because of – his association with state violence, Herzog’s analysis has been much in demand.

Without fanfare, Herzog has been promoted lately. He is now heading the Forum of Strategic Dialogue, a group which arranges confabs between Israel and Europe’s movers and shakers.

Video: Obliterating Gaza’s cultural center

Israel bombed and destroyed a building housing the Said al-Mishal Establishment for Culture and Sciences in Gaza City on 9 August.

The cultural center was one of the few major venues in the besieged territory that housed performance and educational facilities for dance, music, theater and poetry.

One organization in the building was the Palestinian Culture Palace.

“We sent messages of peace through our activities,” Muhammad Baroud, artistic supervisor of the Palestinian Culture Palace told The Electronic Intifada.

“The targeting of the center was unbelievable,” Baroud added. “It shocked everyone.”

The destruction of the center left children and artists with no place to rehearse or perform.

“Everything we built was destroyed in one moment,” Fatima Mhawesh, a choir singer who practiced at the center, told The Electronic Intifada.

Amazon Bans Books of Leading US Scholar of Ugly Side of Jewish Religious Thought (Michael Hoffman)

A couple of months ago I did an interview with one of the foremost scholars of rabbinical Judaism, Michael Hoffman. The occasion was the release of his latest book “The Occult Renaissance Church of Rome”. At the time I did not expect to have to ask for a follow-up interview with him, but when I learned that Amazon had censored his books (please see Hoffman’s own account of this here).

Specifically, the ban is on three of his books. A complete ban (Kindle + printed book) on Judaism’s Strange Gods: Revised and Expanded, as well as The Great Holocaust Trial: Revised and Expanded, while his textbook, Judaism Discovered, has been removed from the Kindle. I felt that I had to talk to him again and he kindly agreed to reply to my questions. I submit to you the full text of our Q&A which I will follow-up with a short commentary.

Iran Threatens 'Regrettable' Reaction if Israel Bombs Syria Again

The secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council made the statement following recent Israeli attacks on facilities in Syria, which it believes supply weapons to Hezbollah.

A senior Iranian military official has warned Israel against attacks on Assad-affiliated forces in Syria on Thursday, citing a "regrettable" reaction if it goes ahead with military action.

"The Zionist regime is seeking to stabilize crisis in Syria and has taken measures in direct support of terrorist groups and for hitting the Syrian army and the forces fighting against terrorism," Ali Shamkhani, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, was quoted as saying by the Tasnim news agency as he met with Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev in Tehran.

Is Russia Being Betrayed by Its Own Intelligensia?

The Russian military refused to buy Putin’s excuse for Israel’s intentional murder of 15 Russian Air Force personnel. The Russian military knows precisely what happened and has not been hesitant to make completely clear Israel’s total betrayal of the Russian government’s naive and gullible trust in the criminal state of Israel.

American ‘Lone Soldiers’ reflect on fighting for Israel: they seek escape, devotion, or ‘just want to shoot’

Yosef explained, there are three broad categorizations of young people from abroad who chose to enlist in Israel: “Type A” he said are purely motivated by Zionism. They are not running from turmoil in their home countries and personal lives. This type of soldier is, “just coming to Israel to draft because he thinks that it’s the right thing to do,” he said.

The second, “Type B,” Yosef continued, are soldiers who have problems in their home lives and they “kind of like Israel.” To them, enlisting “sounds like a really cool experience.” This is more of a “why not?” group and Yosef said this classification applies to him.

“Then there’s ‘Type C’ which is like, ‘I’m crazy and I kind of just want to go shoot some stuff,’” Yosef stated bluntly.

Fascism, the Nazis and Israel

Are there valid comparisons to be made between Israel and Nazi Germany, or with other examples of fascist states in history? Just asking this question could get you into trouble as a British Labour Party member.

The party’s ruling national executive decided recently to do a U-turn on its code of conduct against anti-Semitism, and to embrace fully the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s discredited “working definition” of anti-Semitism. The highly criticised IHRA document includes a clause (an “example” of anti-Semitism) outlawing “drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.”

This is just yet another example of why the document is useless as a definition of anti-Semitism. It was created by pro-Israel groups – in close consultation with Israel itself – purely as a weapon against the Palestine solidarity movement.

Israel has killed 2 journalists, wounded 254 this year

Israeli occupation forces have killed two Palestinian journalists and wounded 254 in Gaza, and arrested 82 in the occupied West Bank since the start of the year, a report issued yesterday revealed.

According to Quds Press, the report, which was issued by the Journalist Support Committee (JSC), said that it had documented 638 Israeli violations against Palestinian journalists since the start of the year.

The JSC said that occupation forces killed journalists Yaser Murtaja and Ahmed Abu Hussein while covering the Great March of Return protests in the Gaza Strip.

Israel gets far more than $38 billion under the new deal

The AIPAC sponsored bill that guarantees $38 billion to Israel over the next ten years is a dramatic departure from the deal offered under President Obama’s 2016 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).[1] Passed by the House of Representatives on September 12, 2018, the United States-Israel Security Assistance Authorization Act of 2018 effectively rolls back every limitation that President Obama placed on the amount of aid we give to Israel.

In addition, the House version provides Israel even more perks than the version passed by the Senate on August 11.

Hundreds of Israeli Settlers Storm Al-Aqsa over Sukkot Holiday

Heavily armed Israeli soldiers escorted hundreds of Israeli settlers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, on Tuesday, to celebrate the Jewish Sukkot holiday, while the Israeli authorities prevented restoration work from being completed in the compound.

Firas al-Dibs, head of the Public Relations and Media Department at the Islamic Endowment (Waqf), said that at least 420 Israeli settlers stormed the compound from 7:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Al-Dibs added, according to Ma’an, that Israeli settlers stormed the compound in large successive groups through the Moroccan Gate, one of the compound’s entrances under full Israeli control.

Al-Dibs mentioned that the Israeli settlers were chanting the Israeli national anthem “Hatikvah” as they provocatively toured the entire compound.

The Path to World War III

Syrian air defenses were on high alert because Israel had attacked targets near Damascus on the previous day. On that occasion a Boeing 747 on the ground that Israel claimed was transporting weapons was the target. One should note in passing that Israeli claims about what it is targeting in Syria are never independently verifiable.

The Israelis for their part were using four F-16 fighter bombers to stage a surprise night attack on several sites near Latakia, close to the airbase being used by the Russians. They came in from the Mediterranean Sea and clearly were using the Russian plane to mask their approach as the Ilyushin 20 would have presented a much larger radar profile for the air defenses. The radar systems on the F-16s would also have clearly seen the Russian plane.

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – SEPTEMBER 26, 2018: RUSSIA BOOSTS ITS EW CAPABILITIES IN SYRIA

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) will continue striking targets in Syria as previously despite the IL-20 incident and a Russian decision to supply S-300 systems to the Syrian military, the Israeli top leadership declared on September 26 following a special security cabinet meeting.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the IDF is successfully working to prevent “Iran’s military buildup in Syria as well as its attempts to deliver lethal weapons to Hezbollah in Lebanon”. Additionally, the prime minister once again blamed Syria for the IL-20 shootdown ignoring the Russian statements that it was a result of Israel’s “hostile actions”.

No evidence a single Gaza protester killed by Israel was armed

Not one of the more than 140 Palestinian protesters, journalists or medics killed during the mass protests along Gaza’s eastern boundary since 30 March were armed when they were targeted by Israeli occupation forces.

That point was stressed by the Gaza-based human rights group Al Mezan during a meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva on Monday.

Human Rights Watch meanwhile told the council that it “has not documented instances where protesters posed an imminent threat to life.”

Israel has validated its unlawful conduct “after presenting a gross distortion of international law” to its high court, Nils Mollema, representing Al Mezan, stated. Its military’s “investigation into some of the protest deaths is expected to find that none of the incidents involved violations of open fire orders.”

In other words, such internal investigations merely rubber-stamp Israel’s war crimes.

Defying Israel lobby, Labour votes for arms freeze

In a historic move, the Labour Party’s annual conference on Tuesday voted to end UK arms sales to Israel.

But The Electronic Intifada has learned that Emily Thornberry, the woman who would become foreign minister were a Labour government elected tomorrow, had privately tried to scupper the motion.

Although Thornberry is a close ally of Labour leader and Palestine solidarity veteran Jeremy Corbyn, she is also a supporter of Labour Friends of Israel and opposes an arms embargo.

Amid a sea of waving Palestinian flags, and chants of “Free Palestine,” delegates debated a motion condemning Israel’s killing of Palestinian protesters – more than 140 to date – since the Great March of Return protests began on 30 March.

UK Labour enables assaults on free speech

On 28 August this year, the New Statesman published an interview with Jonathan Sacks, Britain’s former chief rabbi, in which he described Jeremy Corbyn, the country’s main opposition leader, as “an anti-Semite.”

By way of evidence, Sacks cited comments made by Corbyn in 2013, when the Labour leader and long-standing supporter of Palestinian rights allegedly criticized Zionists for failing to understand English irony. An editorial in the same issue of the London magazine claimed that “Corbyn’s remarks conflated a political position and an identity.”

Even the traditionally Labour-supporting New Statesman, then, was endorsing the anti-Semitism charge.

My initial reaction to these accusations was to dismiss them. How could anyone believe such nonsense?

China, Russia and Iran Lead the Way Towards a New Multipolar World Order

Tensions Grow as China, Russia and Iran Lead the Way Towards a New Multipolar World Order

With the province of Idlib ever closer to being liberated from terrorists by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), the tensions between the US and Syria (and Syria’s allies) are rising. Every significant military campaign by the SAA seems to be accompanied by the usual alarms and false reports emanating from the Western media and governments warning of an imminent (staged) use of chemical weapons by the SAA. Tensions are rising as several American voices, including that of the President, have expressed the desire to strike Syria over any alleged use of chemical weapons, without even waiting for any independent verification. Threats by the US, the UK and France to bomb Russian troops in Syria are voiced everyday on Western media. The insanity is reaching disturbing levels.

These developments in Syria appear to be accompanied by the persistent attempts of Ukraine and the United States to sabotage the Minsk agreements, re-igniting the conflict in order to blame it on Russia. The assassination of Aleksandr Zakharchenko, charismatic leader of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), killed a few days ago in a terrorist attack, should be seen in this light.

Israeli Media In Total PANIC Over Russian Transfer Of S-300 To Syria

The Israeli media is in a total frenzy over the forthcoming transfer to Syria of the Russian anti-aircraft missile system S-300. They recognize that these measures will lead to serious consequences for the Israeli Air Force.

However, as FRN notes, there is a less than even chance that Russia will not make good on the delivery, given its history with this question in the past, combined with patterns it has exhibited in the use of such announcements to win a concession from a third party.

But as the Jerusalem Post states , the appearance of the Syrian military S-300 will make it possible to modernize the air defense of the country profoundly and create a “threat to Israeli aircraft.”

Iran video threatens missile strikes on UAE, Saudi Arabia

An Iranian media outlet close to the hard-line Revolutionary Guard published a video Tuesday threatening missile attacks on the capitals of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, further raising tensions after a weekend militant attack on an Iranian military parade.

The video, in a tweet by the semi-official Fars news agency that was later deleted, comes as Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei blamed Riyadh and Abu Dhabi for the attack in the city of Ahvaz on Saturday, which killed at least 24 people and wounded over 60.

The threat amplifies the unease felt across the Persian Gulf, as Iran’s economy reels in the wake of America’s withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal and Saudi and Emirati forces are bogged down in their war against Iran-aligned rebels in Yemen.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This hit-piece reeks of an Israeli intelligence job, seeking to get more empathy by characterising itself (as it so frequently does) as "the victim" here, when the victims were Iranian soldiers of the Revolutionary Guards.

The fact that the statement from Khameni was excerpted from a far earlier speech, rather than being a statement on current events, is also another hit on its credibility and authenticity.

Look for a US/Israeli "false flag" to hit in some neighboring country, as the "justification" for the US and Israel to start pounding Iran militarily in the not too distant future.

Treasury Sanctions Foreigners for Israel

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) was ordered to register as an Israeli foreign agent on November 21, 1962 when it was part of the American Zionist Council. AIPAC has never complied with the order, and the Department of Justice has never enforced it. AIPAC’s associated think tank, the Washington Institute for Near East Policy (WINEP) was spun off from AIPAC as a survival tactic during a 1980s FBI investigation into AIPAC over economic espionage that produced America’s worst-performing bilateral trade agreement. Incredibly, decades later both organizations appeared to want to get into law enforcement and were instrumental lobbying President George W. Bush for the 2004 launch of the Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence (OTFI) Treasury unit.

US Vows to “Overthrow” Iran as Terrorists Target Iranians

The failure of the US and British governments to now wholly condemn the recent Ahvaz attack as an act of terrorism carried out by what is undeniably a terrorist organization, alone raises suspicions. However, US policy papers have revealed a long-term open conspiracy to back armed militancy in Iran, just as the US, UK, and their allies have been exposed currently doing in nearby Syria as well as Libya in 2011.

As Iran grieved in the wake of the Ahvaz attack, US politicians hosted MEK terrorists in New York, vowing to overthrow the Iranian government.

Reuters in their article, “Trump lawyer Giuliani says Iran’s government will be overthrown,” would report:

President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani on Saturday said that U.S. sanctions on Iran are leading to economic pain that could lead to a “successful revolution” contrasting with administration comments that government change in Tehran is not U.S. policy.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The use of hired assassins by the US government, as a tool of statecraft, is so morally repugnant to me that I do not know where to begin.

Was there ever a time in the history when the American government actually understood the concept of moral, hard-won negotiations, and used them as the way in which to achieve its geopolitical objectives?!?

IF there were times when the US government conducted itself this way, those days are truly long gone.

Her ministerial boss is Gilad Erdan, a key ally of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

They were last month revealed to have spent huge sums creating anti-BDS propaganda targeting social media and news media.

Rabbis for Human Rights in Solidarity with Bedouin Community, Celebrate Sukkot at Khan al-Ahmar

Rabbis for Human Rights (RHR) announced on that they have set up sukkah’s, which are temporary tents constructed for use during the week-long Jewish holiday of Sukkot, in the Bedouin village of Khan al-Ahmar, east of Jerusalem.

RHR decided to set up sukkah’s at the Bedouin village to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, also known as the Feast of Tabernacles, to show solidarity with the residents and as a protest against Israel’s planned demolition of the village.

RHR said, in a statement,

“We will express solidarity with our Bedouin brothers and we will live as they do for a little bit. We will remember that our forefathers lived as free human beings for 40 years in the Sinai Desert.”

“We will sit during Sukkot in the Judean Desert during the seven days of the holiday. We will live a life of confidence in our temporary quarters, together with members of the Jahalin tribe, who have been living in this vulnerable situation for years.”

The Path to World War III? Risky Israeli behavior threatens everyone

But there is another dimension to the story that the international media has largely chosen to ignore. And that is that Israel is now carrying out almost daily air attacks on Syria, over 200 in the past 18 months, a country with which it is not at war and which has not attacked it or threatened it in any way. It justifies the attacks by claiming that they are directed against Iran or Hezbollah, not at Syria itself. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has insisted that any peace settlement in Syria include the complete removal of Iranians, a demand that has also been repeated by the United States, which is also calling for the end to the Bashar al-Assad government and its replacement by something more “democratic.”

Bolton Slams Russia, Says S-300 Sale in Syria Is ‘Significant Escalation’

Speaking to reporters on Monday, National Security Adviser John Bolton slammed Russia for the announced sale of S-300 air defense systems to the Syrian government, demanding that they “reconsider” and warning that the US would view this as a “significant escalation” of the Syrian war.

Russia announced the move after a recent attack on the Syrian coast by Israel, during which a Russian Il-20 was shot down. Russia says the more advanced S-300s will be safer. Israel had insisted Syria deliberately attacked the Russian plane, while Russia says the Israeli jets were under fire from Syria and “hid” behind the larger Russian plane, getting it caught in the fire.

Bolton dismissed both of those explanations, however, saying that “really the party responsible for the shooting down of the Russian plane is Iran,” even though Iran had no involvement in the incident whatsoever.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am having a double-Picard face palm upon reading these statements, and one has to wonder; is being able to lie with impunity to the people with whom you are speaking the most significant requirement of America's National Security Advisor?!?

And please, how is Russia's sending in a defensive weapons system so that Syria can protect itself from attack, an "escalation", when the Syrians, with Russian help, have pretty successfully routed the rebels in their country?!? As my late grandmother would have said, "The horse is already out of the barn" here.

All of the above is because US intervention in Syria failed, miserably, and Bashar Al Assad has pretty much taken his country back. That why Bolton is at his hubristic, unhinged worst in these statements, and why the "next US-generated war" in the region will be engineered to change that outcome.

Advisor Bolton knows precisely where he wants this kind of intense anti-Russian demonization to steer the American people, and that most probably is into an horrendous war against Iran, Syria, and Lebanon, for good measure, with Russia, and possibly China lining up with these countries to defend them against the US onslaught.

And unfortunately, just as has happened with Iraq right before the US invasion/occupation, (Saddam, allegedly, had weapons of mass destruction, remember?!?), we are being force-fed a false narrative with which to "ease" the American public into the right mindset to allow for some kind of "false flag" against American interests, to be blamed on Russia, Iran,or Syria, or all of them, as the "justification" to proceed to war against them.

‘Steps everyone will notice’ – Syria to get powerful Russian S-300 system

TASS reported September 24th that Russia decided to install advanced S-300 anti-missile and anti-aircraft batteries in Syria. The older S-200 systems could not differentiate between friendly and unfriendly targets, which was how the Israeli fighters managed to not get shot down. They “framed” an IL-20, and the missiles intended to stop the incursion instead took out a Russian plane.

US Threatens War Against Iran If ‘American Interests’ Are Targeted

Tensions between the US and Iran have been on the rise in the past several days, with Iran blaming US-backed groups for a Saturday terrorist attack, and Trump aide Rudolph Giuliani vowing an impending US-imposed regime change against Iran the same day.

With talk of Iran doing something in retaliation for the terror attack, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is now leading US comments threatening war against Iran, if the Iranians target any sort of “American interests.”

“We will not let Iran get away with using a proxy force to attack an American interest,” Pompeo insisted, adding when asked about military options that “they’re going to be held accountable.” The S has been threatening to attack Iran for decades now.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Sides appear to be lining up for the next world war, as we are seeing the signs and symptoms of some great catastrophe, which would most probably have its start in the Middle East, somewhere.

What I see, in terms of the players, is that Iran will align with India, Syria, China, and Russia; the US will align with Israel, NATO, and Saudi Arabia.

As to when it is going to happen, I cannot tell you; but I would look at the "drop dead date" President Trump has given the rest of the world as the final date by which they can purchase Iranian oil without penalty, as most probably the trigger for something larger scale to happen.

That date, coming swiftly upon us, is Sunday, 4 November, two days before mid-term elections are held in the US.

I hope to heck that I am absolutely, completely, wrong on what I am interpreting by reading texts, and subtexts, of statements by government officials world-wide.

But looking at the unrelenting, on-going corporate presstitute demonization of Russia, Syria, China, and Iran, it is very difficult for me to reach an alternate conclusion that makes any sense at all.

US ANTI-IRAN SUMMIT COINCIDED WITH FOREIGN-BASED TERROR ATTACK IN IRAN KILLING 25

Terrorists in Iran launched an attack on a parade on Saturday killing 25 — including a four-year-old girl. Unsurprisingly, the group claiming responsibility for the massacre has links to foreign entities in Saudi Arabia and their allies.

Also on Saturday, Donald Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, spoke at an “Iran Uprising Summit” in New York City’s Time Square supporting efforts to overthrow Iran’s revolutionary government. The summit included supporters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and other groups that share Washington’s goal of overthrowing Tehran.

“The people of Iran obviously have now had enough,” Giuliani said on Saturday. “The sanctions are working. The currency is going to nothing … these are the kinds of conditions that lead to successful revolution.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

The timing of this attack reeks of setup from the "usual suspects", advocating for regime change in Tehran, (US, Israel, and Saudi Arabia) just the Saturday before President Trump was supposed to speak at the UN today, castigating Iran's government, which he did in spades.

The US National Security Advisor said Tehran should be held responsible for last week’s downing of a Russian military plane over Syria, and warned Monday that Russian plans to transfer advanced anti-aircraft missile systems to Syria represented a major escalation in an already tense region.

RUSSIA BEEFS UP SYRIA'S AIR DEFENSES - TELLS "HOTHEADS" TO COOL DOWN

The Russian Minister of Defense today announced some of the measures to be taken in Syria in response to last weeks destruction of its electronic warfare plane with 15 airmen on board. Yesterday the Russian MoD held Israel responsible for the incident.

Shortly after the event happened we noted:

On Netanyahu's personal request Russia had stopped the delivery of original Russian S-300 long range air-defense missiles to the Syrian military. These would have been less likely to veer off towards the wrong target. In consequence an Iranian 747 was damaged and 15 Russian soldiers were killed. Netanyahu can forget about any further such 'favors' from Moscow.
Yesterday we added:

The incident will have consequences on several levels. For one - the airspace along the Syrian coast will now be off limits for Israeli flights
...

Webmaster's Commentary:

What Russia has done in Syria, is to literally create a "no-fly zone" over Syria's borders, and whatever military dares come into this closed airspace does so at its pilots' peril.

Israel’s judicial system whitewashes the crimes of its soldiers

An Israeli military court in Jaffa extended the detention of two Israeli army corporals on Friday over allegations that they stole money from Palestinian travellers and sexually abused women during body searches at the notorious military checkpoint which is the only route for Palestinians to get from Ramallah to East Jerusalem and Israel itself. At first glance, this suggests something positive about the Israeli military and that its troops are committed to an ethical code of conduct which stipulates holding them accountable for crimes committed against the Palestinians. However, the facts on the ground shed a completely different light on the situation which allows Israeli soldiers to act with impunity in the way that they deal with Palestinians as they try to go about their daily business.

The blocking of Palestinian rights at an international level is endorsed by the PA

The illusion of two camps – Israel and the US purportedly opposing the Palestinian Authority and the international community – is being promoted by Abbas, and none of the political actors are averse to the gimmick. As US President Donald Trump surpasses the pro-Israel approach of previous US presidents, it has become easier to focus on the current contempt for international law and ignore the subtle manoeuvres which paved the way for the Zionist colonisation of Palestine. Yet it is impossible to ignore one main fact: Trump and Israel are holding themselves beyond any accountability whatsoever and are wilfully eliminating Palestinian rights, while the international community and the PA hold conferences and meetings, and give meaningless speeches, in which support is professed but action is withheld.

It’s official; Israel has armed extremists in Syria to extend its control of occupied Golan

The Jerusalem Post briefly published an article earlier this month stating that the Israeli army has now admitted “that it provided large amounts of cash, weapons, and ammunition to Syrian rebels in the Golan Heights.” I say “briefly” because it was not long before the article was summarily deleted from the newspaper’s website, without any editorial note or explanation. There are still some copies of the article online.

While both the Post and the Israeli army have refused to comment on the article or why it was sent hurtling rapidly down the Memory Hole, it seems likely that it was censored by the military.

World Bank warns Gaza economy is 'collapsing'

World Bank calls on Israel to ease restrictions on trade and movement of people to halt economic 'free fall' in Gaza.

The economy in the Gaza Strip is "collapsing" mainly due to the 11-year blockade on the coastal enclave in addition to cuts in donor aid, according to a new report from the World Bank.

The report described the economy as being in "free fall", shrinking by six percent in the first quarter of 2018, and warned of "further deterioration since then".

It said unemployment in Gaza had reached more than 50 percent, while 70 percent of young people are jobless.

Protect the right to speak against Israel

Campus fights about free speech and censorship tend to devolve into rage-filled deadlocks pitting "intolerance" against "political correctness," resolving nothing. One topic, though, has produced a depressing consensus: that it's acceptable to suppress speech advocating economic protests targeting Israel.
The pro-Palestinian movement promoting boycotts, divestment and sanctions to protest Israeli occupation of the West Bank and control of Gaza is being systematically targeted by campus authorities, and also by state governments and even Congress.

Israeli border guards arrested for ‘stripping & sexually harassing’ Palestinian women

A military court has extended the detention of two Israeli soldiers accused of forcibly stripping and sexually harassing Palestinian women, and of stealing money, at a checkpoint in the West Bank.

One combat soldier and one security observer from the Military Police’s Border Crossings Unit are accused of violating orders and sexually harassing women during their searches at the Qalandiya checkpoint next to Ramallah.

According to the allegations, the pair touched Palestinian women’s private parts during their frisking and sometimes forced them to strip. The two IDF servicemen also allegedly stole cash from Palestinians at the checkpoint.

Russian MoD: Israeli F-16 hid behind Russian Il-20 plane to avoid Syrian missile

Data captured by Russia’s S-400 system proves Israeli jets were responsible for the downing of the Russian plane, the Defense Ministry said, adding that the Syrian missile changed its course shortly before hitting the Il-20.

Data gleaned from the S-400 air defense system deployed at the Russian Khmeimim air base in Syria’s Latakia province has revealed that the Syrian anti-air missile was, in fact, targeting an Israeli F-16 jet before it abruptly altered its course and eventually hit the Russian aircraft. This, and the position of all the aircraft at the moment of the September 17 incident, proves that an Israeli jet was de facto using the larger Il-20 as a cover, the Russian Defense Ministry spokesman, Major General Igor Konashenkov told journalists at Monday's news briefing.

Autopsy shows detained Palestinian was beaten by Israeli forces

A Palestinian who died after Israeli occupation forces arrested him at his home was indeed assaulted, autopsy results have revealed, reported AFP on Sunday.

Mohammed Khatib, 24, died after being taken into custody during a pre-dawn raid on Beit Rima village in the occupied West Bank last Tuesday.

At the time, the family said occupation forces had “beaten [Mohammed] into an unconscious state” while still in the house; two hours after he was taken, his family was informed of their son’s death.

The latest findings, published by the Palestinian Committee of Prisoners’ Affairs, contradict claims made by Israeli authorities that there had been no violence by soldiers during or after the arrest.

Israeli-Americans call on Trump to stop Abbas entering the US

A group of Israeli-American families have called on President Donald Trump to stop Mahmoud Abbas from entering the United States, Israel Hayom reported on Sunday. The President of the Palestinian Authority is scheduled to attend the UN General Assembly in New York.

The newspaper described the families as “families of American victims of Palestinian terrorism.” They have, apparently, appealed to Trump to declare Abbas persona non grata because of the PA’s payment of stipends to relatives of their families’ “murderers”. One person, Micah Lakin Avni, whose father Richard Lakin was killed in 2015, described Abbas as “the grand wizard of incitement to violence and terror.”

In a letter sent to Trump, the families said that allowing Abbas to enter the US is a violation of the law and poses a threat to the American people.

Saudi plan to ‘accept Israel as a brotherly state’

“The plan is complete. It is based on unifying the bases of security, media, culture and education, including religion, in Egypt and all the Gulf States except Oman.”

15 Palestinians wounded as Gaza, Israel violence flares: Medics

At least 15 Palestinian protesters were injured as clashes between dozens of Palestinians and Israeli soldiers flared on Saturday night in eastern Gaza Strip, close to the border with Israel.

The clashes broke out when the Palestinian protesters from the unit of night confusion, part of the anti-Israel protests of the "Great March of Return," demonstrated close to the border with Israel.

Medical sources said the Israeli soldiers opened fire and wounded 15 Palestinians who were taken to hospitals for medical treatment. The sources said they were all shot by live gunfire and moderately wounded.

Between Fire & Sea: The Man Behind Gaza's Great March of Return

"What would happen if thousands of Gazans, most of them refugees, attempted to peacefully cross the fence that separated them from their ancestral lands?"

That was the question 33-year-old Palestinian poet and journalist Ahmed Abu Artema posted on Facebook earlier this year.

His post went viral.

It was a rallying cry that inspired a movement of peaceful protests known as the Great March of Return.

Frustrated by Israel's more than decade-long land, sea and air blockade of the Gaza Strip, upon which it has waged three wars in the past 10 years, and wanting to draw attention to the Palestinian right of return, Ahmed organised the marches as a cry for help.

Russia to Send S-300 Anti-Missile System to Syria After Il-20 Crash - DM Shoigu

The Russian Defense Ministry promised to take "adequate" measures to boost the security of Russian servicemen after the Israeli Air Force used the Russian Il-20 as a shield while attacking targets in Syria, which led to the downing of the aircraft by Syrian air defenses last week.

During a Monday briefing, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Moscow will deliver the S-300 air defense systems to Syria within two weeks as an adequate response to Israel's role in the downing of the Russian Il-20 plane last week.

"The Syrian Armed Forces will be supplied with the advanced S-300 air defense missile system within two weeks. It is capable of intercepting air threats at a range of more than 250 kilometers and simultaneously hitting several aerial targets," Shoigu said, adding that the S-300 would significantly boost Syria's combat capabilities.

U.S. History of Chemical Weapons Use and Complicity in War Crimes

The world is once again witnessing the height of U.S. hypocrisy as members of the U.S. State Department ratchet up anti-Russian and anti-Syrian rhetoric surrounding the use of chemical weapons in Syria and the UK. Ambassador Nikki Haley has warned Syria, Iran and Russia that they will be held accountable for their pre-determined use of chemical weapons in Idlib on innocent civilians. No evidence was provided to support her threats. The United States carried out cruise missile strikes on two previous occasions, and each time provided no evidence to prove their assertion that the Syrian government used chemical weapons in attacking civilians, nor was any rational reason given for such an obviously irrational decision on the part of the Syrian state. No evidence has ever been provided to justify the clear international crime of aggression committed by the United States on these two earlier occasions. Now, the UK and the U.S. are both attempting to accuse the Russian government of using chemical weapons in an alleged attempted assassination of a Russian national on UK soil. Once again, no real evidence has been presented, only assertions and hearsay.

Hungary’s Holocaust museum triggers bitter conflict between Jewish groups

The planned opening of a Holocaust museum in Budapest has triggered an acrimonious exchange between the European Jewish Congress and Chabad of Hungary. In a statement Monday, EJC President Moshe Kantor called the Hungarian Chabad affiliate EMIH a group with "no tradition and no historical roots in Hungary" that is favored by the government for its moral pliability but not by local Jews. EMIH fired back by calling Kantor a dodgy oligarch who is ignorant of Hungarian history. The unusually harsh exchange is an escalation in the controversy over the House of Fates state-funded museum ahead of its opening next year under the ownership of EMIH ... Gaza protests: All the latest updates

For more than five months, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have protested along the fence with Israel demanding their right to return to the homes and land their families were expelled from 70 years ago.

The Great March of Return rallies culminated on May 15 to mark what Palestinians refer to as the Nakba, or Catastrophe - a reference to the forced removal of 750,000 Palestinians from their homes and villages to clear the way for Israel's establishment in 1948.

The mass Friday demonstrations have continued since.

Since the protests began on March 30, Israeli forces have killed at least 174 Palestinians in the besieged coastal enclave and wounded more than 18,000 people, according to health officials in Gaza.

Palestinians were never at the table

This month marks the 25th anniversary of the beginning of the Oslo accords and the signing of the Declaration of Principles in Washington in 1993.

The accords were touted as the only way to reach a permanent peace between Palestinians and Israelis based on the “principles” of mutual recognition and “land for peace.”

An agreement was presented as one where Palestinians would end up enjoying freedom and self-determination on their own territory. What that territory would be in law, as well as the status of Jerusalem and a resolution to the plight of Palestinian refugees, would be addressed over five years of negotiations that were to culminate in 1998.

It was hoped that during this time, mutual trust and confidence-building measures would generate enough momentum to ensure that a final settlement would be unstoppable.

Not only did it not happen, it all turned out to be unworkable subterfuge.

Russia rejects Israeli findings on downed plane

Russia has rejected the findings of an Israeli investigation into the deadly crash of a Russian military aircraft in the Syrian province of Latakia, and called on Tel Aviv to launch a new probe into the matter.

The Israeli Haaretz newspaper said on Friday that the Russians had not accepted Israel's findings, which considered Russia and Syria responsible for the downing of a Russian Ilyushin 20 reconnaissance aircraft some 35 kilometers off the coast of ?Latakia as it was returning to a nearby Russian base earlier in the week. 15 Russian servicemen were killed in the incident.

Haaretz’ report came after an Israeli delegation led by Amikam Norkin, the regime’s air force commander, visited Moscow to brief Russian officials on Tel Aviv’s initial investigation of the incident.

The paper said the visit failed to defuse the crisis and the Kremlin rejected the Israeli conclusion that Syrian forces were to blame for the incident.

DOZENS DEAD IN IRAN AFTER GUNMEN ATTACK MILITARY PARADE, SAUDI ARABIA BLAMED

At least 25 people are dead and 53 wounded after an army parade in the southwestern Iranian city of Ahvaz came under attack by militants on Saturday, according to state media.

Nearly half of the dead are members of the Revolutionary Guards, according to state news agencies, making this one of the worst attacks ever on the elite force.

While the Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack, there are conflicting reports over who is behind it. A spokesman for Iran's Revolutionary Guards, Ramezan Sharif, said the attackers were funded by Sunni arch rival Saudi Arabia.

"Those who opened fire on civilians and the armed forces have links to the Ahvazi movement," Guards spokesman Ramezan Sharif told ISNA.

"They are funded by Saudi Arabia and attempted to cast a shadow over the Iranian armed forces."

Zarif vowed Iran would "respond swiftly and decisively in defence of Iranian lives". -France24

Webmaster's Commentary:

It appears that the "Usual Suspects" (read: the US, Israel, and Saudi Arabia) appear to be hell-bent on starting a war against Iran, and I am deeply concerned that this attack against the Revolutionary Guards being one of the opening salvos, other than economic, in that war.

I would like to strongly caution those who believe it would be such a "good idea" to do this, to remember the degree of Russia's assistance to Bashar Al Assad in Syria, where Russian intervention was successful in turning the tide against the rebels there.

So not believe for one moment, should Iran be attacked, that Russia (and ultimately, China) will fail to come to its aid, as evidenced by the following:

2015: Russia and Iran sign a military cooperation pact

And we need, also, to look at Russia's strengthening of ties to Iran this year, during the following meetings:

Russia and Iran deepen ties to challenge Trump and the United States

July, 2018: Russia and China have Tehran's Back

So, a global war against Iran, featuring the US, NATO, Israel, and Saudi Arabia on the one hand, and China, Russia, and Iran on the other?!?

The kind of devastation such a war would bring to this planet, is both unimaginable, and most probably irrevocable.

Analyst Blames France for Deadly Crash of Russian Fighter Jet in Syria

The Arabic-language website of RT quoted Russian military expert Mikhail Khodarenok as saying on Wednesday that the French frigate named Auvergne has intentionally or unintentionally played a role in the incident.

He noted that the French vessel fired cruise missiles at Syrian targets concurrent with the incident, and said that it further complicated the conditions in the airspace of Syria's Southern coasts and created more problems for the Syrian air defense system by its deployment in an improper place and time.

The Russian military said an Il-20 electronic intelligence plane was hit 35km off Syria's Mediterranean coast as it returned to its home base nearby. All 15 Russian crew members were killed.

Russian defense officials described maneuvers by Israeli fighter jets during the incident as "hostile" and said it had a right to retaliate.

Since March, Abu Kmail, his four daughters and three sons have been hit by an apparent Palestinian Authority decision – officially denied – to cut allowances for Gaza families of prisoners associated with Hamas and Islamic Jihad held in Israeli jails.

The PA has officially denied yielding to pressure from Israel and the US to end what are stipends to help support the families of prisoners where typically the main breadwinner has been incarcerated.

At a weekly protest at the premises of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Gaza City where Abu Kmail and some dozen other families are protesting the conditions their loved ones are held in, Abu Kmail explained to The Electronic Intifada how the reduction in the PA stipend he receives has affected him.

South Africa trade union president urges government to downgrade Israel ties

The newly-elected president of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU), Zingiswa Losi, has called on the South African government to downgrade its relations with Israel, the Afro-Palestine Newswire Service has reported.

Losi, the first woman to lead the country’s largest trade federation, made the comments at COSATU’s 13th National Congress in Johannesburg yesterday. She praised the fact that South Africa had withdrawn its ambassador from Israel indefinitely, but also called on the African National Congress (ANC)-led government to be “decisive” and fully implement a resolution made at the ruling party’s December congress that called for the immediate and unconditional downgrade of the South African embassy in Tel Aviv to a liaison office.

In new ‘political persecution’, Israel indicts Palestinian activist over alleged incitement

Israeli authorities indicted a prominent Palestinian activist on Thursday on charges of “incitement to terrorism” and “expressing solidarity with a terrorist organisation”, reported Haaretz. The decision to indict was slammed as “political persecution” by The Higher Arab Monitoring Committee.

Haifa District Prosecutor’s Office also extended the detention of Raja Agbariyeh, a 66-year-old resident of Umm al-Fahm, until 2 October. He was first arrested on 11 September.

According to the indictment, “between July 2017 and July 2018, Agbariyeh published posts in which he expressed solidarity with a terrorist organization, incited and supported terrorism”.

In one of the Facebook posts cited in the indictment, Agbariyeh marked the one-year anniversary of a July 2017 shooting by three residents of Umm al-Fahm outside Al-Aqsa Mosque compound by wondering whether the incident brought “news of a new phase inside 1948”.
