Not alone: New radar data indicates other jets on MH17 course before crash

New radar data indicating that military aircraft were in the air near Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 when it crashed in eastern Ukraine on July 17 has been released by a Russian air safety consultancy.

The consultancy provided a snapshot representing the readings taken by a radar station located in Russia’s Rostov, near the Ukrainian border, shortly before and about 20 minutes after the MH17 crash.

According to Sergey Melnichenko, CEO of Aviation Safety consultancy, there were one or two warplanes in the air close to the Malaysian airliner. The data casts doubt on the version of the tragedy favored by Western nations, which claims the plane was shot down from the ground by rebel forces with a sophisticated surface-to-air missile.

Putin "Prepares For Economic War", Buys Whopping 55 Tonnes Of Gold In Q3

Just as China is buying 'cheap' oil with both hands and feet, so Russia, according to the latest data from The World Gold Council (WGC) has been buying gold in huge size. Dwarfing the rest of the world's buying in Q3, Russia added a stunning 55 tonnes to its reserves, as The Telegraph reports, Putin is taking advantage of lower gold prices to pack the vaults of Russia's central bank with bullion as it prepares for the possibility of a long, drawn-out economic war with the West.

Russia bought more gold in Q3 then all other countries combined...

Vladimir Putin's government is understood to be hoarding vast quantities of gold, having tripled stocks to around 1,150 tonnes in the last decade. These reserves could provide the Kremlin with vital firepower to try and offset the sharp declines in the rouble.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Looking at the Western drum beat on both Russian and Putin demonization, and the the reality that the opening salvos have already rung out in the economic war against it, possibly leading to a shooting war, can you blame Putin or Russia's central bank for having made this move?!?

Putin: Russian Economy Won't Be Dominated by 'Dollar Dictatorship'

Russia is leaving the dictatorship of the market where oil goods are based on the dollar and won't back down in face of a drastic drop in world prices on energy resources, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Friday.

Russia plans to leave the “dollar dictatorship” of market oil prices and turn to using the country’s national currency and the Chinese yuan, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Friday.

“We are leaving the dictatorship of the market where oil goods are based on the dollar and will increase the possibilities of using [other] national currencies: the ruble and the yuan,” Putin said in an interview with the Russian state news agency TASS.

On a November 9 meeting on the sidelines of the APEC summit Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping discussed the possibility of using the yuan in transactions in fields of mutual cooperation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Methinks that President Obama may have shot himself in both feet by brokering a covert deal with Saudi Arabia to ratchet down oil prices, thus hoping to cripple Russia's oil infrastructure, which is a huge part of its economy.

If, in fact, President Obama does play chess, Putin is 20 moves ahead of him almost every time.

Russia Stations Warships Off Australian Coast Ahead Of G-20 Summit

In recent days, four Russian warships have entered international waters off the northeast Australian coast to coincide with Putin's visit to Australia for the summit that brings together the leaders of the world's 20 biggest industrialized and developing economies. Australia, in turn, sent three warships of its own to monitor them.

The Russian embassy said on Friday that Russia's Pacific fleet was testing its range, and could be used as security for Putin.

Abbott was not impressed.

"Russia is being much more assertive now than it has been for a very long time," he said at a press conference with British Prime Minister David Cameron, also in Australia for the summit. "Interestingly, Russia's economy is declining even as Russia's assertiveness is increasing."

The prime minister, who met with Putin earlier this week on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Beijing, aired details of his conversation with the Russian leader.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to Australian PM Abbott: your ego is attempting to write checks your country's military cannot cash.

And remember: these Russian warships are still in international waters, so provoking them is a big, fat, hairy diplomatic no-no.

Putin has said, publicly, that he is looking forward to having all the facts of the downing of Malaysian Flight 17 to come out.

Prime Minister Abbott, please think (for a moment): would a world leader with anything to hide on this issue actually say this?!?

And please remember that there has been intense reticence for those investigators with the evidence to come clean with all of it.

And why is this?!?

And sir, I really hope - and PRAY - that some of your intelligence folks are reading this right the heck now.

As reported on November 5th 2014 at globalresearch.ca:

This was a Ukrainian Government job. It was close-in. (No missile fired from the distance more than 30,000 feet down to the ground could have been that precise to target the pilot rather than the far larger target of the plane’s entire body.) It came from the Government that Obama installed there in February and that’s now carrying out an ethnic-cleansing campaign against the residents in Ukraine’s southeast, the places where Yanukovych’s voters live (to the extent that they still can and do live).Compare that picture with the following one, which I take from a propaganda-site for the U.S. regime, and so which is intended instead to support the Administration’s line on this, certainly not Haisenko’s explanation of how the airliner was downed, though it actually supports Haisenko’s case: As regards whether there were actually two fighter jets firing into the Malaysian airliner or only one, a proponent of the single-jet hypothesis, Bill Johnson, posted as a reader-comment to my article on August 4th, a series of extreme close-ups of the side-panel, in which he inferred that the explanation of the apparent left-side (pilot-side) bullets was probably the shape of the bullets. I then asked him why he declined to accept the possible existence of two jets. He said, “from what I could find Russian military radar detected only one Ukrainian fighter jet, not two. I have looked and looked for any type of radar confirmation of a second fighter jet and can not find it.” However, the most virginal, earliest, online evidence concerning the matter was on July 17th, within moments of the downing, headlined in the subsequent English translation, “Spanish Air Controller @ Kiev Borispol Airport: Ukraine Military Shot Down Boeing #MH17,” and it included, “@spainbuca’s TWITTER FEED,” which included his observation, only minutes after the downing, “2 jet fighters flew very close” to the plane. Furthermore, immediately before that, he had tweeted, “The B777 plane flew escorted by Ukraine jet fighter until 2 minutes before disappearing from the radar.” So, perhaps the second jet appeared distinct to him only immediately prior to the downing. The accompanying news-report, also on July 17th, said: “This Kiev air traffic controller is a citizen of Spain and was working in the Ukraine. He was taken off duty as a civil air-traffic controller along with other foreigners immediately after a Malaysia Airlines passenger aircraft was shot down over the Eastern Ukraine killing 295 passengers and crew on board. The air traffic controller suggested in a private evaluation and basing it on military sources in Kiev, that the Ukrainian military was behind this shoot down. Radar records were immediately confiscated after it became clear a passenger jet was shot down.” If this is true, then the radar-records upon the basis of which those tweets had been sent were “confiscated.”

Mr. Prime Minister, I beg you - in the interests of peace, and global economic prosperity - to have some of your military forensics people analyze this information, and someone, please tell me where, precisely, the logic flaws are, because I am listening with both ears.

One of the traits of great leaders is the ability to admit that perhaps, they possibly could have been wrong, because they didn't quite have all the pieces of an issue quite sorted, and analyzed.

But it appears that your demonizing of Russia and Putin are part of a larger PR strategy to "groom" the West for a war against it, to prevent the rise of the ruble, and the Russian economy in general.

Yes, Russia's economy will be hurt by Saudi Arabia's ratcheting down their oil prices, in a covert deal with President Obaman; but sir, that will only be temporary, barring an outright war against it.

Russian SU24 Bomber Faces Off Against US Aegis Destroyer– And Wins….12 Times.

US destroyer “Donald Cook” with cruise missiles “Tomahawk” entered the neutral waters of the Black Sea on April 10. The purpose was a demonstration of force and intimidation in connection with the position of Russia in Ukraine and Crimea. The appearance of American warships in these waters is in contradiction of the Montreux Convention about the nature and duration of stay in the Black Sea by the military ships of countries not washed by this sea.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The story is that a Russian bomber made 12 simulated attack runs against the Aegis ship. All 12 times the Aegis painted the incoming "threat" with targeting radars, and all 12 times the Aegis system shut down! Aegis was designed to (depending on the various ship designs) track and engage anywhere from 90 to 120 simultaneous aerial targets. And today it cannot handle just one!

America is no longer able to build effective weapons systems. But they do manufacture pretty targets!

Russia warns France over warship delivery

Russia has warned France of “serious” consequences should Paris fail to deliver a Mistral-class assault warship by the end of the month, a report says.

The Russian state news agency RIA Novosti published the report on Friday, quoting an anonymous high-ranking Moscow source.

The source told the state-run agency that “We are waiting until the end of the month, then we will lodge serious claims.”

The first of two Mistral helicopter carriers were supposed to be delivered on Friday; however, French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drain said a day earlier that “no delivery date can be fixed at this stage.”

When Henry Kissinger Makes Sense

The American public is faced with an information crisis as the New York Times and other mainstream U.S. media outlets have become little more than propaganda organs on behalf of the neoconservative agenda and particularly the rush into a new Cold War with Russia – so much so that even ex-Secretary of State Henry Kissinger has broken ranks.

MSM articles consistently reek of bias – and in some cases make little sense. For instance, Times correspondent David M. Herszenhorn, one of the leading propagandists, wrote an alarmist story on Wednesday about a new Russian “invasion” of Ukraine but curiously he had the alleged Russian tank column heading east toward the Ukrainian city of Donetsk which would be back toward Russia, not westward into Ukraine.

NATO 1949: The Origin of an Offensive, Expansionist, Imperialist Military Alliance

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization, NATO, was launched sixty five years ago following the signature of the Atlantic Pact in 1949. The original member states that came together under US tutelage claimed that their alliance was dedicated to the preservation of peace and to the defence of Western Europe against the supposed threat of military aggression. It is noteworthy that the launch of NATO coincided with the intensification of the Cold War, the political division of Germany and the first tentative steps by the US and Britain to rearm the new West German state.

Third Australian warship sent to halt Russian flotilla bound for G20 in Brisbane

A THIRD Australian warship has been dispatched to intercept a Russian flotilla steaming towards the G20 summit in Brisbane and a fourth navy vessel is ready to divert to the area.

The replenishment ship HMAS Sirius is heading into the Coral Sea to support the frigates HMAS Parramatta and HMAS Stuart and the frigate HMAS Sydney is preparing to divert from an exercise in New Zealand to join the mission, according to a government source.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am confused: why are you willing to have the Australian Navy confront Russian ships, when you yourself described this as follows:

"PRIME Minister Tony Abbott has described the convoy of heavily armed Russian warships cruising international waters towards Australia’s north as part of “freedom of navigation”.

And why, sir,do you appear to be hell bent on a military "interception"?!? If these ships stay within the boundaries of international waters, any miscommunication, any wrong move on the part of either the Australian or Russian side could spark a very grave military encounter.

Please tell me, and the world, that this is NOT your intention, and that this is not an "Abbott/Putin" male attribute member measuring contest!!

Azerbaijan Risks New Armenia Conflict as Military Chopper Downed

Azerbaijan shot down an Armenian helicopter that it said violated its airspace in an attack that may trigger fresh confrontations between the two countries over a disputed region.

The Mi-24 helicopter was “trying to attack” Azeri positions near a cease-fire line when it was hit, the Defense Ministry in Baku said on its website. Armenia’s Defense Ministry said the aircraft was unarmed and called its downing an “unprecedented provocation.”

“This is the worst military incident in more than 20 years since the cease-fire,” Thomas de Waal, senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, said by e-mail from Washington.

Armenia and Azerbaijan fought a war as the Soviet Union collapsed that claimed about 30,000 lives and displaced 1.2 million people. The latest rupture of the 1994 cease-fire marks a potentially dangerous turn in the Caucasus flashpoint located between Turkey, Iran and Russia, which has a mutual defense pact with Armenia.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is not just the chopper which got shot down, but its crew, which could be dead; there are no indications in this story that there were any survivors.

This could get nasty in a heartbeat, because Armenia and Azerbaijan have had rough relations over the years, due to Armenia having seized Nagorno-Karabakh, and the reality Russia has a mutual defense pact with Armenia.

To all the adults in the room in the bowels of geopolitics, wherever the heck you are, whatever the heck you are doing, please drop it, and see what you can do to hold this fragile peace together.

As you understand, the risks of a war in this region may well be a prelude to a much wider military confrontation.

Out of Cash, Kiev Offers to Pay Soldiers with Land

Kyiv – The families of the fallen servicemen, as well as wounded fighters, participants of the ATO, will be able to receive free land lots in Kyiv, stated city head Vitaly Klitschko on Tuesday. As such, the Kyiv City Council plans to create a special committee during the nearest session to accept applications and determine the queue for receiving land lots. However, the city officials are not ready to name exact terms in which according decisions will be made and the land lots allocated. So far Vitaly Klitschko has personally inspected 10 hectares of land in the village of Bykivnya, which is intended for 38 families of the fallen soldiers.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation: Ukraine is flat broke, and this is all they can do to compensate the families of their fallen, and those badly wounded....if, in fact, these people will accept the deal.

And what about having to do construction on their own?!? Where are the plans for these houses supposed to come from, along with the money for building materials?!?

My day job is marketing architecture, and I know, as well as I know my own name, that unless intelligent plans are created, then executed by reasonably skilled contractors, what you will have at the end of the day could well be titled identically to the current Top Gear series: "ambitious, but rubbish!!"

When people have no background in either architecture or construction, the end result of their efforts could well be unmitigated disaster.

Now however, as RT reports, Russia intends to have its own international inter-bank system up and running by May 2015. The Central of Russia says it needs to speed up preparations for its version of SWIFT in case of possible ”challenges” from the West. If successful, this would pose a further challenge to the USD's reign as sanction blowback reverberates once again.

Putin to Australian PM: Russia Hopes All MH17 Crash Data Will Go Public

Russian President Vladimir Putin in conversation with Australian PM Tony Abbott said he hopes all information about the crash of the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 in eastern Ukraine will be made public, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told RIA Novosti.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Putin is saying this with absolute certainty, because when the whole truth comes out, the world will learn that it was Ukrainian military which shot this plane out of the sky, and not Russia.

In confronting Putin in such an accusatory manner, the Australian PM Abbott looked more like the "Abbott" from the US's comedy series, "Abbott and Costello"; unfortunately, this is not funny, given the horrific reality of the situation. Abbott was simply "carrying the US's water" with this.

We are seeing a growing demonization of Russia, potentially ahead of a war between Russia and NATO, and I, for one, am not buying it.

Russia sends warships towards Australia before G20 meeting

Russia has sent a fleet of warships towards Australia in an apparent display of muscle-flexing ahead of the G20 meeting amid tensions between the two countries over the MH17 crash.

It stressed: "The movement of these vessels is entirely consistent with provisions under international law for military vessels to exercise freedom of navigation in international waters."

Ruble-yuan settlements will cut energy sales in US dollars – Putin

Doing away with the US dollar and switching to ruble and yuan payments will significantly increase Russia and China’s say in energy and financial markets, Vladimir Putin has said, adding that the first deals are already underway.

In short the President said the US dollar has no future, and that the ruble and the yuan have better long-term prospects.

“Payments in rubles and yuan are very promising. Switching to such a large-scale work means that the impact of the dollar on the global energy sector will objectively decline. Addicted to Lies: Kiev, CIA Still Pushing Fake Reports of ‘Russia Invading Ukraine’

On Friday, the Ukrainian military’s PR machine spun-up its latest episode of the illusive “Russian Invasion”, this time accusing Moscow of dispatching a column of 32 tanks and “truckloads of Russian troops” into the country’s eastern region.

The West are being very choosy with their language – in case they have to deny they ever said it later. Presently, the West and Kiev are stopping short of labeling the non-event as an invasion, instead calling it “Russian aggression”, and a “cross-border incursion” to aid separatists, with the all-important caveat of “unconfirmed report”, a PR system standardized by CIA media handlers currently in residence inside the US-backed Kiev regime.

Heaviest Shelling In A Month Hits Eastern Ukraine

East Ukraine's rebel stronghold Donetsk was pummel on Sunday by the heaviest shelling in a month, and the OSCE said it spotted an armored column of troops without insignia in rebel territory that Kiev said proved Moscow had sent reinforcements.

A two-month-old ceasefire to end a war that has killed 4,000 people has appeared shakier than ever in the past few days, with both sides accusing the other of having violated the terms of the peace plan.

Reuters journalists inside Donetsk, who have been there throughout the fighting, said the shelling sounded more intense than at any time since early October, a period when a playground was struck killing at least 10 people. Sunday's strikes appeared to come from territory held by both government and rebel forces.

Top Spymaster Explains How Russian Intelligence Sees the US

US Policy towards Russia today simply continues US Policy towards the USSR during the Cold War

…… if the catastrophe in Ukraine had not happened some other grounds would have been found to step up the policy of “containment” of our country. This course has been pursued unswervingly for many decades; only the forms and tactics of its implementation change.

As you know, after World War II the confrontation between the USSR and the West headed by the United States took the form of a “cold war”. The military-political component of this standoff was entrusted to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), formed on the initiative of the United States on 4 April 1949. An analysis of NATO’s practical activity indicates that in creating the alliance the United States was pursuing two main objectives.

First, a military bloc directed against the USSR was formed under American leadership.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The path the US government is following is, ultimately, a path to war with Russia.

And I would like to politely point out to those precious few adults in the room in that swamp known as DC, that at this time in its history, the US military does not have the troop strength, the money, or the manufacturing to insure a positive outcome to a conventional war with Russia; and that is what makes the military scenario so scarily dangerous, because it could go nuclear, from the US military's side, in a heartbeat.

Evidence Is Now Conclusive: Two Ukrainian Government Fighter-Jets Shot Down Malaysian Airlines MH17. It was Not a ‘Buk’ Surface to Air Missile

The reader-comments to my July 31st article, “First Examination of Malaysian MH-17 Cockpit Photo Shows Ukraine Government Shot that Plane Down,” provided links and leads to independent additional confirmatory evidence backing up that account, of retired Lufthansa pilot Peter Haisenko’s reconstruction of this event, to such an extent that, after exploring the matter further, I now feel confident enough to say that the evidence on this matter is, indeed, “conclusive,” that Haisenko is right.

Here is all of that evidence, which collectively convinces me that Haisenko’s conclusion there, is, indeed, the only one that can even possibly explain this wreckage:

“There have been two or three pieces of fuselage that have been really pockmarked with what almost looks like machine-gun fire, very very strong machine-gun fire.”

This remarkable statement comes not from Haisenko, but from one of the first OSCE investigators who arrived at the scene of the disaster.

he cause of the shooting-down of the Malaysian passenger plane MH-17 on July 17th (while that plane was flying over the conflict-zone during Ukraine’s civil war) is becoming clearer and clearer, despite the rigorous continuing attempts by Western ‘news’ media to cover it up and to hide from the public the evidence that clearly shows what brought down this airliner.

BEX ALERT - Tymchuk: Russia moves nuclear-capable missile systems up to Ukraine border, reinforces military presence in Donbas

Russia has moved six Iskander tactical ballistic missile units up to the Ukrainian-Russian border opposite Ukraine’s Donetsk region, military blogger and head of the Information Resistance group Dmytro Tymchuk wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.

Consensus a Compromise for Secret MH17 Investigation

But Australia has been judicially negligent in a murder investigation – and has imposed a possible compromise rather than going for the truth. They have signed a secret NON-DISCLOSURE agreement – that requires CONSENSUS on the investigation’s findings. This implies that all parties have to agree before the results are released.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, there is a dead body. Four police officers investigate but it is likely one of the four is the killer, so they all sign an agreement that no report will be issued if any one of them objects to the results.

Glaring Front Page Error by David Sanger, New York Times as Iran Nuclear Negotiations Near Deadline

Sanger appears to start off on the right track with his article:

Iran has tentatively agreed to ship much of its huge stockpile of uranium to Russia if it reaches a broader nuclear deal with the West, according to officials and diplomats involved in the negotiations, potentially a major breakthrough in talks that have until now been deadlocked.

Under the proposed agreement, the Russians would convert the uranium into specialized fuel rods for the Bushehr nuclear power plant, Iran’s only commercial reactor. Once the uranium is converted into fuel rods, it is extremely difficult to use them to make a nuclear weapon. That could go a long way toward alleviating Western concerns about Iran’s stockpile, though the agreement would not cut off every pathway that Tehran could take to obtain a nuclear weapon.

Ukraine’s Rada Elections Bring Society to Brink of All Out War and Economic Collapse

Ukraine is bankrupt and its economy is rapidly collapsing. It has been promised billions in aid from the IMF and EU in return for the most vicious austerity measures that will make Greece look like a picnic. Industry and agriculture are suffering steep declines in production while austerity measures will lead to huge cuts in wages and welfare benefits. At the same time the rapid immiserisation of the masses is worsening due to massive price increases in basic foodstuffs and essential utilities such as electricity, gas and water.

All of the capitalist politicians elected to the new Rada have no solution to these devastating economic problems. Their economic programme can be summed up in the slogan; ”Austerity, austerity and yet more austerity.” Western capitalism’s macro-economic reform progamme offers an extremely bleak future to the ordinary people of Ukraine.

Poroshenko Threatens to End Ukraine Truce After Eastern Elections

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has threatened to withdraw his government from a truce with eastern secessionist rebels today, a day after the easterners held an election for leaders of their breakaway republic.

Poroshenko insisted that the election was a “flagrant violation” of the agreement, and claimed to have already held talks with the defense ministry about the prospect of restarting the civil war.

The war wasn’t going particularly well for the Ukrainian government at the time the truce was reached, as the rebels had launched a counter-offensive chasing them out of key portions of the territory in the Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is very obvious that Poroshenko has been given his marching orders from Victoria Newland, on her last trip out to Kiev.

Poroshenko is doing his best to provoke Putin, and when he succeeds in doing that, all hell will break loose.

But Poroshenko's big problem is that he cannot sustain a war against these independence seeking republics because his government is flat broke, and new EU funds are not scheduled to be disbursed until next year.

How The Petrodollar Quietly Died, And Nobody Noticed

Two years ago, in hushed tones at first, then ever louder, the financial world began discussing that which shall never be discussed in polite company - the end of the system that according to many has framed and facilitated the US Dollar's reserve currency status: the Petrodollar, or the world in which oil export countries would recycle the dollars they received in exchange for their oil exports, by purchasing more USD-denominated assets, boosting the financial strength of the reserve currency, leading to even higher asset prices and even more USD-denominated purchases, and so forth, in a virtuous (especially if one held US-denominated assets and printed US currency) loop.

Breakaway Republics the New Normal for Ukraine

The Ukraine crisis is carrying on in much the same fashion it has been since it broke out in early 2014: for every gesture of diplomatic contrition, there are two moves on the ground pointing to further conflict.

The most recent dovish overture comes in the form of a gas deal reached between Moscow and Kiev, one that will also ensure the flow of energy supplies to Western Europe over the coming winter. The deal calls for Ukraine to pay out two tranches of $3.1 billion by the end of the year, covering both its outstanding debts with Gazprom and the 4 billion cubic meters of gas it will need through next March. High levels of EU and IMF assistance will be necessary to help the nearly bankrupt government in Kiev cover the cost of the deal.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Breakaway Republics should be the new model for the whole world, as a global response to the continued pattern of US covert overthrows and installation of puppet regimes.

The US Economy Runs Into A Problem If Oil Hits $75

US shale oil is now the marginal swing barrel in the new world oil order, and as Goldman Sachs warns (despite Larry Kudlow apparently knowing better), a decline in WTI to $75/bbl would start to significantly slow US shale growth (and thus employment, capex, and the entire US economy).

Putin to Western elites: Play-time is over

In this speech, Putin abruptly changed the rules of the game. Previously, the game of international politics was played as follows: politicians made public pronouncements, for the sake of maintaining a pleasant fiction of national sovereignty, but they were strictly for show and had nothing to do with the substance of international politics; in the meantime, they engaged in secret back-room negotiations, in which the actual deals were hammered out. Previously, Putin tried to play this game, expecting only that Russia be treated as an equal. But these hopes have been dashed, and at this conference he declared the game to be over, explicitly violating Western taboo by speaking directly to the people over the heads of elite clans and political leaders.

The Russian blogger chipstone summarized the most salient points from Putin speech as follows:

MH17 might have been shot down from air – chief Dutch investigator

The chief Dutch prosecutor investigating the MH17 downing in eastern Ukraine does not exclude the possibility that the aircraft might have been shot down from air, Der Spiegel reported. Intelligence to support this was presented by Moscow in July.

The chief investigator with the Dutch National Prosecutors' Office Fred Westerbeke said in an interview with the German magazine Der Spiegel published on Monday that his team is open to the theory that another plane shot down the Malaysian airliner.

Following the downing of the Malaysian Airlines MH17 flight in July that killed almost 300 people, Russia’s Defense Ministry released military monitoring data, which showed a Kiev military jet tracking the MH17 plane shortly before the crash. No explanation was given by Kiev as to why the military plane was flying so close to a passenger aircraft. Neither Ukraine, nor Western states have officially accepted such a possibility.

BEX ALERT - Ebola crisis rekindles concerns about secret research in Russian military labs

The 1996 incident might have been forgotten except for the pathogen involved — a highly lethal strain of Ebola virus — and where the incident occurred: inside a restricted Russian military lab that was once part of the Soviet Union’s biological weapons program. Years ago, the same facility in the Moscow suburb of Sergiev Posad cultivated microbes for use as tools of war. Today, much of what goes on in the lab remains unknown.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Oh yes, let's all blame the Russians. Let us forget that the US has a biological weapons program. Let us forget that US law allows the Department of Defense to conduct biological warfare tests on US citizens without their knowledge and that there have been several well-documented accidents involving deaths from such tests! Let us forget that according to Professor Francis Boyle, a US biological warfare expert, that the NIH was been experimenting with splicing Ebola with the common cold to create a powerful biological weapon. Let us forget that a vaccine to protect "the good guys" from that weapon was being tested at a secret biological warfare laboratory in the hospital in Kenema, Sierra Leone, where scientists from USAMRIID and Tulane University carried out research that is illegal in the US. Let us forget that last January the Kenema facility received $140 million, partly paid for by the US Department of Defense, to conduct human trials of that Ebola vaccine. Let us forget that vaccines made from attenuated viruses can and have reverted to full potency after injection, causing, rather than preventing the illness the vaccine is designed for. Let us forget that the US Government mandated swine flu vaccinations in 1976 killed fifty times more people than the flu itself did. Let us forget that the 1918 pandemic was called the "Spanish Flu" to obfuscate the fact that the illness erupted on a US military base at Camp Funston (now Fort Riley) during tests of an experimental vaccine. Let us forget about National Security Study Memorandum 200, a Nixon administration research project run by Henry Kissinger that set as official US policy the covert depopulation of resource-rich areas of the third world, in order to gain access to those resources. And let us forget that the government of Sierra Leone has concluded that the current Ebola outbreak centered on that lab at Kenema and has since ordered it closed. Let's just trust the same government and media that told us Saddam had nuclear weapons, and blame the Russians, blame the Russians, blame the Russians!

Putin: Russia’s plans to solve Ukraine’s debt problem rejected

President Putin said Moscow offered numerous solutions to Ukrainian gas debts which have been rejected by Kiev and the IMF as complicated and difficult procedures. He expects a solution to be found soon otherwise it could lead to a crisis.

Talking about Russian gas delivery to Europe at the Valdai international discussion club meeting on Friday the President explained all the concessions Russia has made and is ready to make to see gas flow into Ukraine and urged the Western partners to co-operate.

Ukraine’s debt to Russia is 5.6 billion dollars for gas delivery and 3 billion dollars of credit. Russia has revised the sum of the debt and now demands only 4.5 billion. In January Ukraine is to receive a tranche from the IMF. The final sum will be reconsidered by the IMF after October, 26.

Ukraine-Russia Gas Deal Still Possible Despite Setback

Negotiations over a natural gas deal between Ukraine and Russia have faltered since the spring, but the standoff has taken on a new urgency as winter approaches.

Following the overthrow of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich in February, Russia altered the terms by which it sells natural gas to Ukraine. Along with Yanukovich, favorable pricing went away. In April, Russia nearly doubled the sale price of natural gas to Ukraine, from $268.50 per thousand cubic meters to $485.50.

This was a price that the Ukrainian government said it could not meet. Even worse, Russian gas company Gazprom demanded upfront payment for gas supplies, an issue that kept the two countries at odds for months. Gazprom cut off gas supplies to Ukraine in June, saying Ukraine had failed to pay its debt.

US-Backed Ukraine Army Used Cluster Bombs Against Its Own People: Reports

The Ukraine Army, backed by both the U.S. and NATO throughout its military campaign against rebel factions in eastern regions of the country over recent months, appears to have fired cluster munitions on the city of Donetsk earlier this month, according to a Human Rights Watch investigation and independent reporting by the New York Times.

Citing the HRW report, physical evidence and its own interviews with both witnesses and victims, the Times reports:

Sites where rockets fell in the city on Oct. 2 and Oct. 5 showed clear signs that cluster munitions had been fired from the direction of army-held territory, where misfired artillery rockets still containing cluster bomblets were found by villagers in farm fields.

The two attacks wounded at least six people and killed a Swiss employee of the International Red Cross based in Donetsk.

Russia Won’t Accept Terms to End Sanctions Over Ukraine

Russia’s foreign minister said his country won’t accept conditions to end sanctions after talks in Italy failed to produce a breakthrough over the truce in Ukraine’s conflict-ridden east.

Russia has been told to comply with various criteria before the U.S. and its allies revoke the limitations, Sergei Lavrov said in a transcript of an NTV interview posted yesterday on the ministry’s website. The cease-fire in Ukraine’s easternmost regions, sealed Sept. 5, was broken several times during the past 24 hours, with two soldiers and 14 pro-Russian fighters dying, the military said today.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Russia did nothing wrong here.

When the legitimately elected government of Ukraine was overthrown in an EU/US/ECB putsch, Crimea, in what was considered a free and fair election, decided to join the Russian Federation.

Russia did not annex Crimea; this was Crimea's choice.

And Russia, to the best I can determine, is not egging on the Eastern Ukraine separatists, but is working hard to create an environment where they can get some sensible concessions from Kiev on wanting more autonomy here.

Russia is not the bad guy here, and I can understand Lavrov's position perfectly.

But what concerns me very deeply is what I see as a diplomatic war of words evolving toward a shooting war between the US and Russia.

Sanctions are almost always a prelude to war; and at this moment in its history, the US military cannot assure a positive outcome to such a military engagement, because it does not have the troop strength, the money, or the manufacturing to make that happen.

Just because something is the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing the US government could do is, unfortunately, absolutely no guarantee that it won't do it.

I would strongly caution those precious few adults in the bowels of power in US government that this action would be one of the most dumb things they could ever possibly support, particularly when the US infrastructure and economy are both in such peril, except for the one percenters.
