Russia is Showing Off Its Best Weapons; From AK-200 Rifles to T-90 Tanks

Since 2010, Rosoboronexport– Russia’s state defense export agency– has made great strides in breaking into the Southeast Asian arms market. However, parts of the Middle-East present a much more challenging landscape. In particular, Rosoboronexport has yet to make meaningful headway in the lucrative Persian Gulf market where major defense system contracts still tend to go to the United States.

As Russian arms exporters make a concerted push into the Gulf states, there is no better opportunity for them to give their sales pitch than at the largest arms show in the Middle East: IDEX, a biennial exhibition organized by the United Arab Emirates.

Congress silent as Trump extends national emergency – because it’s to sanction Russia

US President Donald Trump has informed Congress that he will extend the 2014 national emergency over Ukraine and sanctions against Russia, even as lawmakers look set to oppose his emergency declaration to protect the US border.

On Monday, Trump extended by one year the emergency declared by his predecessor Barack Obama in March 2014 with Executive Order 13660. It was set to expire on March 6. In the letter sent to Congress, Trump cited threats to Ukraine’s democracy, sovereignty and territorial integrity and “actions and policies of the Government of the Russian Federation, including its purported annexation of Crimea and its use of force in Ukraine” as continuing to present “an unusual and extraordinary threat” to US national security and foreign policy.

Russia will ‘respond’ to ‘new threats’ from Trump to make space US territory says official

Russian Armed Forces and First Deputy Defence Minister Army General Valery Gerasimov said Mr Trump’s actions may lead to the “escalation” of tensions between the two power nations as the American pushes ahead with his plans to make space US territory. Mr Gerasimov said: “The Pentagon has lately stated repeatedly that they intend to use space for their military purposes. For this, a new type of forces is formed—space forces, which creates a pretext for militarising space. “All these actions may lead to an escalation of the military-political situation and emergence of new threats, to which Russia will have to respond with reciprocal and asymmetrical measures.”

Russia will prevent US intervention in Venezuela: Official

A Russian official says Moscow will do all it can to prevent potential intervention in Venezuela by the United States, which has not ruled out the military option to overthrow the elected government of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

Valentina Matviyenko, the chairperson of Russia’s Federation Council — the upper house of the Russian legislature — made the comment at a meeting with Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez in Moscow on Sunday.

“We are very much concerned that the US could carry out any provocations to shed blood, to find a cause and reasons for an intervention in Venezuela,” Matviyenko said, stressing that Moscow “will do all in order not to allow this.”

Venezuela has been in political turmoil over the past weeks. The opposition has been holding widespread anti-government protests, blaming Maduro for an ailing economy, hyperinflation, power cuts, and shortages of basic items, and urging him to resign.

Moscow Monitoring Talks of US Military Intervention in Venezuela - Russian PM

Russia wants peace in Venezuela and supports efforts to foster dialogue between the government and the opposition amid the political crisis in the Latin American country, since this is the only way to stabilize the situation, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said.

"Russia opposes any and all interference in the internal affairs of other countries. In Venezuela, we support efforts – including those by representatives of the region – to foster dialogue between the government and the opposition. We continue to do so now… The result that Russia wants to achieve is peace in Venezuela. It can be achieved only through a respectful, inclusive, intra-national dialogue", Medvedev said in an interview with the Bulgarian newspaper Trud.

'Thank You, Vladimir': Modi Unveils Factory That Will Build 750,000 Kalashnikovs For Indian Military

Much the West's chagrin, Pakistan's decision to release a captured Indian fighter pilot did surprisingly little to de-escalate tensions with India. And as deadly shelling along the heavily militarized "line of control" continues, it's becoming apparent that the most anxiety-provoking outbreak of tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors isn't just going to resolve itself.

And as world powers jockey to mediate the conflict, the opening of a factory in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh where hundreds of thousands of AK-203s will be produced might portend an important development in the conflict: As Washington urges New Delhi to embrace a more peaceful tact, and other Western powers (like the UK) have tried to pressure Pakistan, Moscow is aligning itself closer to India.

Russia Will Pay $14,000 in Cash to Families Who Have 3 or More Children (Putin Video)

Russia is one of the few white countries, Hungary is another, which are taking a serious attitude to turning birthrates positive. These countries, unlike the US and Western Europe, understand that if they don't, they will cease to exist, overrun by immigrants who will replace their culture.

Media controlled by Jewish elites is busy convincing Western populations that this would be a good thing.

Maduro orders European HQ of Venezuelan state oil firm PDVSA to be moved to Moscow

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has ordered the European headquarters of state oil company PDVSA be relocated to Russia, Venezuela’s Vice President Delcy Rodriguez has said.

“President Maduro ordered to close the Lisbon office of PDVSA and move it to Moscow,” Rodriguez said on Friday at the joint news conference with Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, during her visit to the Russian capital.

The decision comes as Venezuela expands energy cooperation with Russia’s oil and gas giants Gazprom and Rosneft, according to the official.

“It’s the perfect time, as we are reshaping our relations,” said Rodriguez.

Trump Prolongs Anti-Russia Sanctions Over Ukraine - White House

PUTIN FORMALLY SUSPENDS RUSSIAN PARTICIPATION IN INF TREATY, NOTIFIES WASHINGTON

Russia has formally pulled out of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) after previously signalling that it would take this historic step after the White House announced last month that the US would suspend all obligations under the treaty. President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on Monday formally enacting and finalizing Russia’s suspension of the INF Treaty, which was set to expire in less than six months and subject of heightened tensions after both sides have repeatedly accused the other of having been in violation of its terms for years.

Webmaster's Commentary:

President Trump has behaved like an absolute, consummate, banana-ingesting orangutangue on this issue, thumping his chest in jubilation at having become the "Wreck-it Ralph" of the 21st century on weapons treaties.

This, in turn, has has placed Putin in the unfortunate position of having to take an offensive posture on this issue he absolutely did not want to take.

But we need to understand that this offensive posture has been totally created by the US withdrawing from this treaty.

The degree to which this President has been consumed by the Neocons and the Israeli lobby, and how quickly in his presidency it happened, has been total and complete.

Russia has absolutely every right to be concerned here, and has expressed its concerns very clearly:

Putin's warning on missiles in Europe pushes U.S. and Russia closer to new arms race

NATO chief says allies keen to avoid arms race with Russia

Putin says he is ready for a New Cuban Missile Crisis, if Donald Trump wants one.

One has to wonder just how soon the Russian/European border will become infested with weapons, the use of which which could make the future of life on planet earth .... impossible.

Russia suspends INF Treaty with US - Kremlin

President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree enacting Russia’s suspension of the INF Treaty, a move that was announced after a similar decision by the US. The weapons control agreement was set to expire in less than six months.

Russia is putting on ice the Cold War-era agreement, which resulted in significant demilitarization of the European continent. The US will be formally notified about the decision.

The INF Treaty may be revived if the US “eliminates its earlier violations of its obligations” under the deal, according to the decree published by the Kremlin on Monday. Otherwise it will simply expire and cease to exist.

The US has rejected a joint request by Moscow and Damascus to let them evacuate refugees stranded in the Rukban camp within the US-controlled zone in Syria to areas under Damascus' control, the Russian military said.

The first column of buses accompanied by Russian military police set off for the camp on Friday. They were supposed to enter through one of the two mobile checkpoints opened by the Russian and Syrian forces last month and ferry the refugees to other parts of Syria for permanent resettlement.

Lavrov to Pompeo: We can talk Venezuela, but US must stop threatening its legitimate govt

The US attempts to threaten Venezuela and meddle in the country’s affairs under the guise of supplying humanitarian aid have nothing to do with democracy, Russian FM Sergey Lavrov told his American counterpart, Mike Pompeo.

Venezuelan PDVSA moves HQ to Moscow to 'safeguard oil assets against seizure'

Venezuela’s state-run energy giant PDVSA will relocate its European office to the Russian capital because of high risks of potential confiscation of oil revenues amid US sanctions against the country’s energy sector.

Venezuela Orders PDVSA Offices Relocate To Moscow; Putin Affirms Support To "Friend" Maduro

A top Venezuelan official has announced that President Nicolas Maduro has ordered national oil and gas company PDVSA to close its current European headquarters in Lisbon, Portugal and move it to Moscow. The announcement came from Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez during a press conference standing alongside Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on Friday.

"President Nicolas Maduro instructed the Lisbon branch of PDVSA to close this office and relocate the office to Moscow," Rodriguez said, according to Russia's TASS news agency. It appears the relocation is already underway, and is part of the framework of "broadening cooperation" with Russian energy giants Rosneft and Gazprom, according to the statement.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would imagine that Putin thought that this might be a reasonable idea, and has put it into place, must probably just in time for the Venezuelan government

NATO Chief Says Eastern Enlargement Process Not Provocation Against Russia

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Thursday that the alliance’s enlargement to the east was not a provocation against Russia, dismissing such assessments as the concept of spheres of influence that should be left behind.

The statement was made at the GLOBSEC public event in Slovakia, which hosted talks of the Bucharest Nine group — the countries of NATO's eastern flank — earlier in the day.

"It is up for the 29 allies and an applicant country to decide if and when to join. No one else has a say because often I hear If Ukraine joins, If North Macedonia joins, if Georgia joins, that is a provocation against Russia, it is an aggressive action against Russia … This concept is totally wrong because I strongly believe every nation has the right to decide its own path, and NATO totally respects that regardless whether they work for membership in NATO or they say we are neutral," Stoltenberg said.

By the end of the year, Russian rocketers will receive Zenith systems S-350 - considerably more powerful than S-300

The first Zenith rocket systems S-350E "Vitez" will arrive at the Russian Armed Forces at the end of 2019.

They will be given the center of the Zenith rocket units in Gat?ina, in the Leningrad region.

The S-350E "Vitez" is a new-generation mid-range missile system.

It is made by a self-propelled launcher, a powerful radar with electronic scanning of space and a conduit checkpoint.

It needs to replace known S-300PS rocket systems (range of 75-200 kilometers) and Buk-M1-2 (range 45 kilometers in distance and up to 25 kilometers in height).

According to General Alexander Zelin, who commanded the military aviation of Russia, "Vitez" significantly exceeds the capabilities of the S-300 system. Among other things, because there will be 12 missiles on the trigger, and not four as S-300 systems.

In addition, it will be able to simultaneously track and hit a significant number of flying destinations.

NATO steps up naval presence on the Black Sea

Experts say the move sends a signal that the West won't tolerate Russia's expanding military footprint in the region. However, an 80-year-old treaty could limit the alliance's scope for action.

NATO steps up naval presence on the Black Sea

The background to this is an incident in the Kerch Strait at the end of November. Russian ships off the coast of the Crimean peninsula — which was annexed from Ukraine by Russia in 2014 — seized two Ukrainian Navy boats and a tug by force of arms. Deborah Sanders of King's College London told DW that Europe reacted "quite slowly" to the incident in the Kerch Strait via diplomatic channels, so a "more military" approach was chosen, meaning an increased naval presence. Sanders, an expert on defense and security in the region, said the US had taken on an informal leadership role, the aim being to send a clear signal to Moscow that the Black Sea is not Russian waters. She pointed out that the balance of power in the Black Sea has shifted in Russia's favor, and that Kyiv is worried about a blockade of Odessa, the country's most important port. Since the annexation of Crimea, the Ukrainian navy has been stationed in Odessa.

Webmaster's Commentary:

DW, you just lost your credibility - and my respect - with this bit of codswallop.

Are your English language editors so brazenly stupid that they would deliberately blink and miss on one of the most important stories of 2015?!?

You used the word "annexed" twice, indicating that this is how the Russian/Crimean relationship was formed; and that, as you know, is a complete, and utter lie.

President Obama admitted in a 2015 interview, that the US had brokered the deal to get Yanukovich, the duly elected Ukraine President, run over by the proverbial bus, leaving the door open in Kiev for Poroshenko to enter.

Washington Was Behind Ukraine Coup: Obama admits that US “Brokered a Deal” in Support of “Regime Change”

Sorry, DW, this is one doozy of a lie about how Crimea became a member of the Russian Federation, that I CANNOT UN-SEE!!

You owe you readers one hell of an apology for this, DW.

You're welcome!! :-)

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters he did not know how much truth there was to that media report.

A Clash Is Coming Over America’s Place in the World

In the past several months, a meaningful debate has finally started to emerge over America’s role in the world. Politicians and analysts — left, right and center — are conceding that longstanding mistakes have brought the United States to an uncertain moment. Provoked by President Trump, they are concluding that the bipartisan consensus forged in the 1990s — in which the United States towered over the world and, at low cost, sought to remake it in America’s image — has failed and cannot be revived.

But the agreement ends there. Foreign policy hands are putting forward something like opposite diagnoses of America’s failure and opposite prescriptions for the future. One camp holds that the United States erred by coddling China and Russia, and urges a new competition against these great power rivals. The other camp, which says the United States has been too belligerent and ambitious around the world, counsels restraint, not another crusade against grand enemies.

Ukraine Backs Out Of Eurovision Contest – Its Shameful Terms Exposed By

The European Broadcasting Union received official notice from the National Public Television of Ukraine (NOTU) that they will not be participating in the Eurovision contest this year.

Those winners were Maruv, Freedom-jazz in second, and Kazka Group in third.

KALASHNIKOV KAMIKAZE DRONE ‘KUB-BLA’ ALREADY BATTLE-TESTED IN SYRIA

A Russian defense contractor, Kalashnikov Concern, named after one of the most famous small-arms designers of all time, is now producing kamikaze drones designed to destroy remote ground targets.

The “high-precision unmanned aerial system” KUB-BLA was for the first time showcased at the International Exhibition of Arms and Military Equipment 2019 in Abu Dhabi. The drone delivers an explosive charge on the coordinates of the target, which are set manually or can be acquired automatically by uploading image of the target into the guidance system.

The KUB-BLA has a 3-kilogram payload, a flying time of 30 minutes, and a 80-130-kilometer-per-hour speed. It measures 1210mm wide by 950mm long and 165mm high. Typically, the payload is apparently a high-explosive charge. Kalashnikov Concern says that the advantages of the system are “hidden launch, high accuracy of the shot, noiselessness and ease of handling”.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There are many reasons for those in the bowels of power in DC , to eschew any kind of war with Russia right now, and this is one of them.

The US weaponry community has been chronically "coming up short", because of the "pork barrel relationships" of politicians with arms makers, contributing to their campaigns, both overtly and covertly, and this translates into a "knowledge and information gap" in Congress, meaning politicians in the US not asking the hard questions about weapons deliveries; weapons capabilities; and weapons costs.

That toxic lack of candid communications between those who allocate the funds, and those who make the weapons upon which the US military relies, has put this country behind the proverbial 8-ball, relative to Russia and China; that has to stop, and right the hell now.

To those who have been reading WRH for some time, you understand that I hate war as a means with which the US frequently resolves its geopolitical differences; having said that, however, when our military needs the best, most intelligently thought out, and future-looking weapons, they should have them, and our weapons manufacturers need to be making sure that they do; otherwise, they should not be allowed to bid for any future weapons contracts, period, end of discussion.

Israel will continue to act against Iran in Syria, Netanyahu tells Putin in Moscow

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel told Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Wednesday that Israel will continue to act against Iran’s attempts to entrench militarily in Syria.

Netanyahu shortened his trip and planned to return Wednesday night, the day of his meeting with Putin, reportedly so he could be in Israel on Thursday, when Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit may issue decisions on several criminal investigations against the prime minister.

The prime minister had postponed his meeting with Putin from last week because of “domestic political affairs,” the Kremlin announced at the time.

Prior to the start of their meeting, Netanyahu told Putin that Israel is “determined to continue our vigorous action against the attempts by Iran, which calls for our destruction,” according to the Israeli leader’s office

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation: Israel will continue to attempt to provoke a response leading to a real Iranian push-back against Israel in Syria, and now that the bribery charges aren't even cold, Netanyahu has given a stunningly apocalyptic, hubristic vision of how he sees the future of countries in the Middle East with which Israel doesn't get along very well.

It's going to be straight-out, never-ending war; of course, he expects that the costs in blood and money to be paid by (who else?!?) the American government, and ultimately the American people.

Were I a Jewish voter in Israel, I would be afraid of where he thinks he wants to lead this country, post-elections; very afraid, in fact.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed his concerns during his meeting with Indian Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj in Wuzhen, on the margins of the meeting of the RIC Foreign Ministers Council.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Lavrov has my absolute respect as a statesman; he is calling for calm, and listening to what might be possible, with the ultimate aim of moving India and Pakistan away from the brink of war.

Putin's Speech Shows an Unrelenting Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin's Address to the Federal Assembly this year was unique not only in its geographic setting but also in content as it laid down the direction the country is going to take and reaffirming its refusal to compromise on sovereignty in the midst of a standoff with the West.

The address on February 20 was delivered at the just opened Gostiny Dvor instead of the parliament building, indicating its unusual significance.

A week before the event, Putin's influential aide Vladislav Surkov published an article in the daily Nezavisimaya Gazeta. "We need to recognize, understand and describe the Putinist system of government… as the ideology of the future," he wrote, demonstrating the top administration's emphasis on Russia's state stature, international standing and political order in the post-Putin era.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I don't get where in the sam hill, this writer defines Putin's speech as "unrelenting".

Russia, far more than the US right now, is seen as a "good faith actor" on the international stage, and that is because Putin and Lavrov have been working the phones like crazy, to keep things from escalating beyond repair in situations like the Pakistan/India conflict this month, or Syria, earlier last year.

It is significant that he made this speech in a very lovely looking recently opened Gostinyi dvor (this is an historic Russian term for an indoor market or shopping centre.) This has to signal Russia's willingness to trade with other countries open to trading with it; of course, for many countries, US sanctions really stand in the way of this.

When the leadership of a country, like that of the US, makes miserably pathetic excuses for why they are sanctioning another country, like Russia, for things they never, ever did (like the alleged "annexation of Crimea from Ukraine, which never actually happened), the leadership of the accusing country appears to the rest of the world, as though it was being run by a bunch of complete morons who, unable to find something that Russia has done morally wrong, internationally, just decides to make stuff up.

Mr. President, it is time for the US to come to the table with Russia to re-negotiate the Arms Agreement, and work together for the reconstruction of both Syria and Iraq, two countries the US government helped to destroy.

It is time to put away the battering rams of hubristic accusations, (frequently followed by a deadly show of force), and attempt to get on with running this country successfully, and a big part of that will be by showing that we can be a fair partner in trade.

MAJOR REVELATION, FORMER NSA AND CIA: “WHY THE DNC WAS NOT HACKED BY THE RUSSIANS”

The FBI, CIA and NSA claim that the DNC emails published by WIKILEAKS on July 26, 2016 were obtained via a Russian hack, but more than three years after the alleged “hack” no forensic evidence has been produced to support that claim. In fact, the available forensic evidence contradicts the official account that blames the leak of the DNC emails on a Russian internet “intrusion”. The existing evidence supports an alternative explanation–the files taken from the DNC between 23 and 25May 2016 and were copied onto a file storage device, such as a thumb drive.

ANGLO 5CRIMEAA Delusional Pompeo ‘Demands’ That Russia Return Crimea To The Rightfully U.S Coup-Installed Government Of Ukraine

The United States recalled in connection with the upcoming celebration of the fifth anniversary of the reunification of Crimea with Russia, that they do not consider this step to be legal. On Wednesday, February 27, this was reported in the official statement of the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on the website of the US State Department.

The statement emphasizes that Russia, “occupying the Crimean peninsula, tried to destroy the international order, and also undermined fundamental human freedoms.”

“The United States recalls its unchanged position: Crimea is Ukraine, and it must return under the control of Ukraine … The United States also condemns Russia’s illegal actions in the Crimea and the ongoing aggression against Ukraine,” the agency’s website says.

Russian defense chief slams US efforts to undercut Moscow’s rights under Open Skies Treaty

Washington is trying to manipulate international law in order to make it more difficult for Russia to exercise its rights under the Treaty on Open Skies, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said at a meeting of the ministry’s board on Wednesday.

According to Shoigu, the current international situation is "characterized by mounting competition between the world’s power centers, growing uncertainty factors, an upsurge in instability and violence in different regions across the globe, along with the growing potential of conflict in the areas of Russia’s traditional interests."

"At the same time, the US views itself as a superpower, manipulates international law persistently seeking to alter the existing conventional arms control arrangement in Europe in its favor and also makes it more difficult for Russia to exercise its rights under the Treaty on Open Skies," the defense minister said.

‘I worry’: Top US nuclear general concerned about new Russian weapons, future of arms control

Head of the US Strategic Command cited new Russian hypersonic missiles and other weapons as reason US must invest billions in nuclear modernization, and hinted at scrapping the last remaining arms control treaty with Moscow.

Testifying before the Senate Armed Services Committee on Tuesday, US Air Force General John Hyten said that the new weapons systems unveiled by Russia last year were not covered by the New START arms control treaty, and that the US might have difficulties contending with such weapons in the future.

“I get concerned 10 years and beyond that with torpedoes, with cruise missiles, with hypersonic, that it can go completely in the other direction, that we would have a difficulty,” Hyten told the Senate. “I have no problem saying I can defend the nation today, and I think the commander after me can, but I worry about the commander after the commander after the commander.”

Final Steps Of The Multipolar Revolution: Containing The US In Europe

The United States has in the last three decades brought chaos and destruction to large parts of Europe, in spite of the common myth that the old continent has basked in the post-WWII peace of the American-led world order. This falsehood is fueled by European politicians devoted to the European Union and eager to justify and praise the European project. But history shows that the United States fueled or directed devastating wars on the European continent in Yugoslavia in the 1990s, with the conflict between Georgia and Ossetia at the beginning of the 1990s, with the war in Georgia in 2008, and in the coup in Ukraine in 2014, with the ensuing aggression against the Donbass.

Nuclear Weapons: Who Has What at a Glance

At the dawn of the nuclear age, the United States hoped to maintain a monopoly on its new weapon, but the secrets and the technology for making nuclear weapons soon spread. The United States conducted its first nuclear test explosion in July 1945 and dropped two atomic bombs on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945. Just four years later, the Soviet Union conducted its first nuclear test explosion. The United Kingdom (1952), France (1960), and China (1964) followed. REPORT: U.S Soldiers Arrive In Donbass – Ukraine ‘Too Corrupt’ To Wage War

U.S soldiers have reportedly just arrived in the Donbass, amidst an increase in tensions along the line of demarcation, according to numerous reports. Commenting on this, “NATO countries intend to turn Ukraine into a platform for sabotage warfare”, said Otaman of the Faithful Cossacks International Public Organization Alexei Selivanov.

According to him, American intelligence officers arrived in the area of ??the operation of the combined forces in the Donbass to audit and analyze the weapons brought from the United States. Such measures have been followed because of corruption among the Ukrainian military, explained Selivanov.

“As our sources in the Ukrainian military department tell us, the Americans were not satisfied with what they saw, and the officers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’s accompanying officers from the Center for Peacekeeping and Implementation of International Treaties informed about it,” he told REN TV .

Russian S-400 defense system purchase done deal: Turkey

Ankara's purchase of Russia's S-400 missile defense system is a done deal, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Tuesday, despite Washington's efforts to persuade Turkey to buy the U.S. Patriot system instead.

U.S. and NATO officials have warned Ankara that the Russian system cannot be integrated into the NATO air and missile defense system and that purchasing the S-400 system would jeopardize Turkey's purchase of Lockheed Martin Corp F-35 fighter jets and possibly result in U.S. sanctions.

Trump Threatens a Second Embargo of Cuba

he Trump administration is threatening to unleash a flood of lawsuits involving Cuba, which no U.S. president has ever done. It has set a deadline of March 2 to announce whether it will create, in the words of the National Lawyers Guild, “a second embargo” of Cuba — “one that would be very difficult to dismantle in the future.”

Trump may give current U.S. citizens standing to sue in U.S. courts even if they were Cuban citizens when the Cuban government nationalized their property after the 1959 Revolution. They would be able to bring lawsuits against U.S. and foreign companies that allegedly profit from the nationalized properties.

In accordance with international law, the Cuban government had offered compensation to U.S. nationals for the taking of their property, as I explain below. If Trump permits myriad new lawsuits to proceed, it would unleash a tsunami of litigation that would harm U.S. companies and punish the Cuban people even more.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. President, why in the name of heaven are you making an already insane US policy toward Cuba worse?!?

Sir, just in case you have blinked and missed it, we are trading extensively with a country with which we were at war, and that country is Vietnam, where you and President Kim Jung Un will be meeting in a summit soon.

Sir, forgive me, but engaging - rather than enraging - countries with which we have profound, fundamental disagreements, may do a lot more for a successful American foreign policy.

Why not start with inviting some gifted students, maybe at the highschool level, from Cuba, and have Americans who speak Spanish, go to Cuba for a year?!? Each kid could stay with carefully screened host families.

And Mr. President, and Mike Pompeo, please remember the following; IF we do what you are planning, you may well see Russia patrolling just out of US waters, to make certain that the US has no plans for a decap strike on Havana.

Gentlemen, if this is where the US country is thinking of doing, I would strongly caution patience, and some opportunity to allow for travel and trade. President Trump, please reconsider.

And there is a relatively short documentary I would like both you and SOS Pompeo to watch: Tuning with the Enemy

This will give you both a sense of what it is like to live in 21st century Cuba.

The gentleman doing the documentary is desperately trying to get pianos to Cuba, because many of the kids who play, have had their existing pianos eaten to dust by termites so they have no understanding of what the music they are playing should sound like.

and Senator Rubio, what gives you the right to throw terroristic tantrums at Maduro, warning him that he will wind up just like Libya's Gaddafi"?!?
Rubio tells Maduro that he will wind up like Gaddafi

Is a decap strike against Caracas already in play?!?

Putin's US nuclear hit list revealed: Russian state TV names Camp David as the top location the Kremlin would target with 'unstoppable' hypersonic nukes which can strike in just five minutes

Russian state TV has identified American military bases which it says Moscow could strike with hypersonic missiles in the space of five minutes if nuclear war broke out between the two countries.

The Pentagon and presidential retreat near Camp David, in Maryland, topped the list along with Jim Creek, a naval communications base in Washington state.

But the Vesti Nedeli television station also identified two targets - a training center at Fort Ritchie, Maryland, and McClellan Air Force base, California - which are both defunct, having been abandoned in 1998 and 2001 respectively.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I do not think Russia would make a mistake like that. It is more likely that the Russian TV station got "creative" and goofed.

US Moving Special Forces and Equipment to the Venezuelan Border

In a series of tweets posted in her twitter account a few hours ago Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the US government is moving special forces to the borders of Venezuela along with military equipment.

She also alerted that the same US government (and US companies) with the help of some NATO allies is seeking to buy arms and ammunition in east European countries to arm the Venezuelan opposition.

Vimmer: Kosovo is needed by the Americans as a carrier on the ground

Putin rattles sabre as nuclear pact collapses

President Putin’s state of the nation address to the Federal Assembly in Moscow this week was an extraordinary affair. While heavily focused on domestic social and economic development, Putin noted, predictably, the US decision to pull out of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty and clearly outlined the red lines in regard to possible consequences of the move.

It would be naïve to believe that there would not be a serious counterpunch to the possibility of the US deploying launchers “suitable for using Tomahawk missiles” in Poland and Romania, only a 12-minute flight away from Russian territory.

In itself, the weapon refers to weapons systems of high power, but has a nuclear munition. The structure and chassis of the mortar is quite simple, therefore it is not difficult to bring them into an absolutely working condition. The question is that modern automated guidance systems and fire control now allow to accurately take into account both meteorological conditions of shooting and ballistic characteristics of ammunition.

Fly on the Wall in Putin's Cabinet Meeting - 'Globalists Depressed Because of Recession and Yellow Vests'

Russian TV regularly broadcasts a few minutes from Putin's cabinet meetings, and they are sometimes a great insight into how his top team understands what is going on in the world.

US plans to buy weapons for Venezuelan opposition in Eastern Europe, warns diplomat

The US is considering the possibility of buying weapons for the Venezuelan opposition in one of Eastern European countries, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing on Thursday.

"We have information that companies from the US and its NATO allies are considering the possibility of buying a large batch of weapons in one of Eastern European countries in order to provide them to the Venezuelan opposition. The batch will reportedly include heavy machine guns, grenade launchers, portable missile launchers and ammunition for light weapons and artillery systems. So this is what they mean when they talk about delivering humanitarian aid," she said.

Zakharova also said that the US and its allies intended to use cargo aircraft belonging to an international freight forwarder to deliver several shipments of weapons to Venezuela in early March "through a neighboring country".

Russia's Envoy to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that a group of countries came together at the UN to support Venezuela's legitimate authorities and to defend international law

Moscow is ready to address the UN Security Council in case of an aggression against Venezuela by the United States during humanitarian aid delivery on February 23, Russia's Envoy to the UN Vasily Nebenzya told TASS on Friday.

"I hope that we will have no reason to do this. But if there is a reason, we will do it," Nebenzya said.

He added that a group of countries supporting Venezuela at the UN came together not only to support Venezuela's legitimate authorities, but also to defend international law. "It's not only about Venezuela. It is also about the approach to resolving international problems and different crises," he added.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza told TASS that Caracas is coordinating actions with Moscow. "Russia plans to call an emergency session of the Security Council in case of an aggression," Arreaza said.

Security in Europe only exists with Russia

Merkel’s applause was countered by the booming silence with which the traditionally brave transatlantic community in Munich reacted to the remarks made by US Vice President Pence. Not only did he demand dropping out of the Iran agreement, but threatened to deprive Europe of protection if it did not finally call it quits with Russia. For a long time, the federal government believed that it could just sit out Trump. A bitter mistake. The current US administration combines the erratic destructiveness of Donald Trump with the neo-conservative aggressiveness of Pence and Bolton. This is a toxic mixture. It endangers the security of Europe. After the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, the Iran Agreement and Unesco, the US has kicked the the next international agreement into the trash bin, with the INF Treaty – to Vladimir Putin’s secret joy. How substantiated the mutual reproaches are is secondary. Both have little interest in actually saving the contract in the remaining six months.

The number two man in the current US administration said that US allies should follow the orders of Washington, writes Stevens.

What Does Kiev Need? A Small But Victorious War In The Azov!

Kiev needs a small but victorious war in the Azov

The Ukrainian agenda has left the world media, which means that this topic does not interest the Western establishment. However, this does not suit Kiev and will not under any foreseeable authority, so a small but victorious war with Russia is needed.
The West is tired of Kiev’s ambitions
The consolidated West today has too many of its own problems — i.e, Brexit, the struggle for power in the USA, migration, the situation in Afghanistan, Venezuela, its own trade wars — to be searching for “Russian aggression” in Ukraine, especially since it is not there.

This is evidenced by the recent statement by the head of the OSCE Special Monitoring Commission in Donbass in the UN Security Council. In addition, there is no goal to make Ukraine a showcase of the “Eastern Partnership.” For this there is Poland, and there is no money for it – the US debts reach $ 22 trillion.

Putin Now Thinks Western Elites Are 'Swine'

An article I published close to five years ago, “Putin to Western elites: Play-time is over”, turned out to be the most popular thing I’ve written so far, having garnered over 200,000 reads over the intervening years. In it I wrote about Putin’s speech at the 2014 Valdai Club conference. In that speech he defined the new rules by which Russia conducts its foreign policy: out in the open, in full public view, as a sovereign nation among other sovereign nations, asserting its national interests and demanding to be treated as an equal. Yet again, Western elites failed to listen to him.

Instead of mutually beneficial cooperation they continued to speak the language of empty accusations and counterproductive yet toothless sanctions. And so, in yesterday’s address to Russia’s National Assembly Putin sounded note of complete and utter disdain and contempt for his “Western partners,” as he has usually called them. This time he called them “swine.”

‘Nosy Guest’: Washington ATTEMPTS To Spy On Crimea, Spectacularly Fails

The activity of foreign reconnaissance aircraft, particularly US aircraft, near Russian borders has increased lately.

Russian new hypersonic missile can breach any defense: expert

Russia's new hypersonic Tsirkon missiles can pierce any air defense systems or missile shields, Russian military expert and retired rear admiral Vsevolod Khmyrov said Thursday.

"There is no protection from it," Khmyrov told reporters, after President Vladimir Putin in his annual address to the Federal Assembly on Wednesday announced that Russia is successfully developing the new weapon.

Putin said the Tsirkon missile fired from surface ships or submarines can reach a speed of approximately Mach 9 (about 11,000 kph) and strike a target more than 1,000 km away underwater or on the ground.

According to Khmyrov, if a carrier with Tsirkon missiles is located at a distance of 500 km from the coastline, the missiles will be able to reach targets of at least 500 km from the coastal strip in five minutes.

During this time, it is possible to detect the missiles but not intercept them, Khmyrov said.

Putin Threatens US Soil If Missiles Deployed in Europe

Russian President Vladimir Putin, during his annual presidential address to the legislature Wednesday, criticized the United States for ignoring the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty by deploying missile launchers in Romania and Poland.

"First it started developing and using intermediate-range missiles it deceitfully called targets for missile defenses. Then it began to deploy the Mk-41 launchers in Europe, capable of using intermediate range cruise missiles Tomahawk for combat purposes," he said.

"By doing all this the United States blatantly ignored the provisions contained in articles 4 and 6 of the INF Treaty."

Russia will respond to any U.S. deployment of short or intermediate-range nuclear weapons in Europe by targeting not only the countries where they are stationed but the United States itself, Putin warned.

See For Yourself, 30 of the New, Modern, Amazing Airports of 'Stagnating Russia' (Great Pictures)

What prompted me to write this Awara Accounting report on the impressive development of Russia’s airports was to produce a cure for the but-beyond-the-MKAD syndrome. The MKAD is the 110 kilometer outer ring road around Moscow. And this syndrome refers to the habit of the detractors of Putin’s Russia to claim that any visible development of Russia, if any, has happened only within the limits of Moscow city – “just go outside the Ring Road and you’ll see there’s nothing but poverty and ruin.” Many of those who suffer from this syndrome live in a deep-seated cognitive dissonance where they just refuse to trust their lying eyes, while some of them are just peddlers of pure propaganda or victims of the latter.

So, let’s see what actually happens beyond the MKAD. Amazing airports have been built or reconstructed both in Moscow and across the vast country and many other impressive projects have been presented.

Russian Mediation: The Critical Messages of the Hamas-Fatah Talks in Moscow

The Russian-sponsored Palestinian unity talks in Moscow on February 11 were neither a success nor failure. Uniting Palestinian factions was not the main objective of the Moscow conference, in the first place.

Instead, the nature of the event, the host country and the clear messages sent to Washington and Tel Aviv were all meant to communicate something else entirely. And they did.

The head of the Fatah delegation to the conference, Azzam al-Ahmed, apologized to his hosts on behalf of Palestinians for failing to achieve political reconciliation.

But that apology could have been prepared in advance. It would not have been rational to expect that a conference organized in such haste, with few preliminary meetings or intense prior consultations, could have achieved the coveted unity.

Russia Will Respond To ANY U.S. Weapons Deployment In Europe

Russian president Vladimir Putin has vowed to use force against the United States should the U.S. deploy any missile weapons in Europe. Putin says the threat is necessary to protect Russia because U.S. weapons will be much closer to being able to destroy his country.

In what could be called Putin’s toughest remarks yet on a potential new arms race, the Russian president said Moscow was not seeking confrontation and would not take the first step to deploy missiles in response to Washington’s decision this month to quit a landmark Cold War-era arms control treaty. But Putin would take action against the U.S. if the decision is made to deploy weapons in Europe.

Russia Will Target US With New Hypersonic Weapons If It Deploys Missiles To Europe

In his first major public address since the US formally pulled out of the INF arms-control treaty, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned on Wednesday that Russia would point its new arsenal of hypersonic missiles - which can purportedly bypass NATO's ABM systems - directly at the US if it dares to reintroduce ground-based intermediate-range missiles to Europe.

According to Fox, Putin threatened to deploy Russia’s new Zircon missiles, which Putin said can fly at nine times the speed of sound and carry a range of 620 miles and are part of the country's drive to upgrade its defensive capabilities against an increasingly aggressive US and NATO.

Putin cautions if threatened, Russia could target US missiles ‘hosts’ and America as well

Russia will consider tit-for-tat and asymmetric measures if the United States deploys intermediate-range and shorter-range missiles to Europe, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in his annual State of the Nation address to the Federal Assembly on Wednesday.

"I’ve already said and I want to repeat - and this is vital - to repeat this specifically, that Russia is not planning to be the first to deploy these missiles to Europe. If they are indeed manufactured and sent to the European continent, and the US does have these plans, anyway, we haven’t heard other statements, this will sharply deteriorate international security and create serious threats to Russia since it takes up to 10-12 minutes for certain types of these missiles to fly to Moscow. This is a very serious danger to us. In this case, we will be forced, and I want to stress this, we will be forced to envisage tit-for-tat and asymmetric measures," Putin said.

The warning came from President Vladimir Putin, who announced Russia’s planned actions after the US withdraws from the INF Treaty – a Cold War-era agreement between Washington and Moscow which banned both sides form having ground-based cruise and ballistic missiles and developing relevant technology.

The US is set to unilaterally withdraw from the treaty in six months, which opens the possibility of once again deploying these missiles in Europe. Russia would see that as a major threat and respond with its own deployments, Putin said.

'Irritated' US admiral sends destroyer to Black Sea after Russia fires on Ukrainian vessels

An American destroyer is sailing to the Black Sea to conduct naval exercises with Ukraine to demonstrate “solidarity” in response to a clash with Russia that has a top U.S. admiral furious.

“The whole episode in the Sea of Azov was extremely bothersome to me,” Admiral James Foggo, commander of U.S. naval forces in Europe and Africa, told reporters on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference over the weekend.

Russian forces fired on three Ukrainian naval vessels that attempted to pass through the Kerch Strait, the narrow waterway that connects the Black Sea to the Sea of Azov, and arrested the sailors in late November. The maritime incident was the first public act of violence by Russian forces against Ukraine since 2014, when unmarked Russian fighters helped annex Crimea and invade eastern Ukraine. Since the takeover, Moscow has used control of the land on both sides of the waterway to restrict access to key Ukrainian ports in the Sea of Azov.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Admiral Foggo, and President Trump, a few words, please.

In 2014, there was a coup in Ukraine, sponsored by the US, NATO and the IMF, to oust the duly elected Yanukovich, and replace him, in an election more crooked than is a dog's hind leg, with Poroshenko.

President Obama himself confessed in a CNN interview, that he had been part of the group to have created "regime change" in Ukraine. Washington was behind Ukraine coup; Obama admits that the US brokered a deal in support of regime change.

Gentlemen, this next bit is very important: When the Ukrainian Putsch happened, the people of Crimea understood that there was no legitimate government in Kiev. So what the Crimean people did was a two step process.

In a free and fair referendum, the Crimean people were asked, post-putsch, if they wanted to stay as part of Ukraine, or petition the Russian Federation to join it. Overwhelmingly, the Crimean people requested to leave Ukraine, and to petition the Russian Federation to become a part of it, which happened. the A-word, as in "annexed" by Russia never, ever happened, period, end of discussion.

Now, let's fast forward to last Fall.

The Ukrainian seamen knew what the protocol was, to access the Sea of Azov, and that had everything to do with communication, and allowing the Russian sea patrollers to know in advance when another ship was coming in; they didn't follow the protocol, so got popped by Russian Navy.

I would like to hope (and pray) that your orders are not to create a confrontation.

I have a companion piece on this: Russia Shadows USS Donald Cook as it Heads to Black Sea Now why would the US Navy send the USS Donald Cook to the Black Sea, when we know that the following happened the last time it was there? Why did the US Pull back the USS Donald Cook from the Black Sea? Here's what the article said:

"US destroyer “Donald Cook” with cruise missiles “Tomahawk” entered the neutral waters of the Black Sea on April 10, 2014. The purpose was a demonstration of force and intimidation in connection with the position of Russia in Ukraine and Crimea. The appearance of American warships in these waters is in contradiction of the Montreux Convention about the nature and duration of stay in the Black Sea by the military ships of countries not washed by this sea.

In response, Russia sent an unarmed bomber Su- 24 to fly around the U.S. destroyer. However, experts say that this plane was equipped with the latest Russian electronic warfare complex. According to this version, “Aegis” spotted from afar the approaching aircraft, and sounded alarm. Everything went normally, American radars calculated the speed of the approaching target. And suddenly all the screens went blank. “Aegis” was not working any more, and the rockets could not get target information. Meanwhile, Su-24 flew over the deck of the destroyer, did battle turn and simulated missile attack on the target. Then it turned and repeated the maneuver. And did so 12 times.

The demonstration was original enough. A bomber without any weapons, but having on board equipment for jamming enemy radar, worked against a destroyer equipped with “Aegis”, the most modern system of air and missile defence."

So, Admiral, has the USS Donald Cook actually had its equipment repaired to the point where it can no longer have its radar utterly destroyed by Russian equipment?!? Did you look the leadership of this crew in the eye, before they deployed, and tell them that the ship is truly, utterly seaworthy?

And Admiral, one last question: has the President decided to make it, and its crew, the "Sacrificial Lambs" with which to start a war with Russia, because the flaw in their radar has not been fixed?!?

Please, Lord, sir, tell me no!!!!!

After the Trade War, a Real War With China?

Our sudden hostility to China reflects a consensus – at least within the Washington Beltway – that we need to wrestle China to the ground and pin it there. But what are the chances we can do that? What are the consequences of attempting it? Where are we now headed with China?

Realism is out of fashion in Washington even if it’s alive and well elsewhere in America. It should give us pause that our new enemy of choice is a very different, larger, and more dynamic country than any we have unbefriended before. China had a couple of bad centuries. But forty years ago, the Chinese Communist Party and government began to evolve what turned out to be a successful model of economic development that blended state capitalism with free enterprise. This unleashed the entrepreneurial talents of the Chinese people. The results have been staggering.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Folks, this is a very long read, but absolutely worth it, in terms of US/China/Taiwan relations, and how they might be bettered, or get completely nasty, if there is a war between the US and China over the future of Taiwan.

No joke! Ukraine’s presidential choice: an oligarch, a gas princess or a comedian

For some time, it was assumed that Yulia Tymoshenko would challenge Petro Poroshenko for the Ukrainian presidency in next month’s election. However, out of nowhere, Vladimir Zelensky has now emerged as the frontrunner.

For Ukrainians able to vote in next month’s presidential election, the choice is now pretty clear. There are three options: the incumbent oligarch anti-Russia hardliner, the femme fatale of Kiev’s political scene, or a comedian best known for playing a fictional president in a popular TV drama.

While his candidacy originally inspired much bemusement, nobody’s laughing now at Zelensky. Because the entertainer has surged into a nine-point polling lead with just six weeks left before the big day.

We Won't Allow a Color Revolution in Venezuela, Moscow Says

Russia’s position on Venezuela is to prevent American-backed regime change, the country’s Foreign Ministry has announced, amid a jostle for power among rival political factions in the crisis-struck Latin American country.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has accused the United States of backing a coup in his country after Washington recognized opposition leader Juan Guaido as president. Moscow and Beijing have continued to express support for Maduro, who retains control over key state institutions including the military.

After CNN Report, Facebook Censors Pages With Claimed Links to Russia

Facebook has suspended a number of accounts linked to Maffick Media following a report by CNN claimed the group is secretly linked with the Russian government. Maffick Media is based in Germany, and while it is partly owned by a Russian subsidiary, the company says it has full editorial independence.

CNN noted Maffick’s part-ownership by Ruptly, a Russian state media subsidiary, and accused them of not disclosing this ownership on Facebook, even though Facebook had never required any such disclosure, and no one is even accusing Maffick of spreading any disinformation on the pages.

Public documents show Maffick is 51% owned by Ruptly, a Germany-based news agency which is itself owned by Russia’s state television station RT.

Despite this, Facebook responded to the CNN report by taking down Maffick’s pages, accusing them of misleading the public “about who’s behind them,” and that in the future they will ask these pages to disclose “their Russian affiliations.”
