US Patriots Couldn’t Repel Attack on Saudi Oil Facilities Due to Low Efficiency – Russian MoD Source

Saudi Aramco refineries were hit hard in a drone attack, claimed by Yemeni Houthis, crippling Saudi crude output for several days. In the wake of the attack, US military command for the Middle East suggested sending more air defence missile systems to Saudi Arabia after existing ones failed to foil the strike.

Some 88 Patriot systems deployed in Saudi Arabia failed to repel attack on Saudi Aramco oil facilities, letting dozens of drones and guided missiles get through defences, a high-ranking source in the Russian Defence Ministry said. The source dismissed the excuse that the US Secretary of State gave to explain the Patriot fiasco, noting that in fact the American air defence system simply has low efficiency

Webmaster's Commentary:

Wait one minute, did I just read that correctly?!?

Then please answer this question; are our American military just as vulnerable as were the Saudis when these attacks happened?!?

And the best and brightest US engineers who have developed these US military systems got overwhelmed... by a bunch of allegedly "primitive drones"?!?

So, President Trump, what is wrong with this picture?!? ABSOLUTELY BLOODY EVERYTHING.

Mr. President, you and Vice President Pence, need to "work the phones" of all your contributors in the military defense industry, and there should be, immediately, (private) conferences on why the US had a 100% failure rate in Saudi Arabia, where the need for these damned systems is desperately critical in order to protect the oil infrastructure here, and the US failed...miserably.

This cannot, sir, cannot happen again, because if it did, any foreign buyer, thinking about buy US-made weaponry may well march right out of the negotiating room, and into either Russia's or China's embassy in their countries, to discuss buying weapons... which actually work.

GREATER IDLIB: IS SYRIAN ARMY ADVANCE INEVITABLE?

After over 8 years of war, the province of Idlib and its surrounding areas remain the key stronghold of radical militant groups in Syria. Over the past years, anti-government armed groups suffered a series of defeats across the country and withdrew towards northwestern Syria. The decision of the Syrian Army to allow encircled militants to withdraw towards Idlib enabled the rescue of thousands of civilians, who were being used by them as human shields in such areas as Aleppo city and Eastern Ghouta. At the same time, this increased significantly the already high concentration of militants in Greater Idlib turning it into a hotbed of radicalism and terrorism.

Russia allegedly gives Syria green light to use S-300 system against Israeli warplanes

The Russian Armed Forces have allegedly given the Syrian military the green light to use their S-300 system against Israeli warplanes that enter their airspace, the Russian aviation publication Avia.Pro reported.

“Against the background of how Israel was repeatedly seen striking at Syria despite the previously reached agreements between Russia and Israel, a source told Avia.pro that the Syrian military received permission to use its air defense systems in case of the slightest threat from Israel, provided that the Syrian side bears responsibility for such actions,” Avia.Pro said.

US-backed militants block evacuation of ‘death camp’ in Syria: Russia

Russia says the United States and its allied militants are blocking the evacuation of a refugee camp in southern Syria, where refugees are living in appalling conditions.

The Russian army said a UN-led operation to evacuate thousands of refugees from the camp is scheduled to start on September 27 and will take 30 days.

General Mikhail Mizintsev, however, said at a news conference on Wednesday that the evacuation was “on the verge of collapse because of provocations by rebels under US control.”

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday that the militants refused to ensure the safety of evacuation convoys.

Questions, Not Answers Surround U.S. Push to War with Iran

Moscow has had its fill of Netanyahu. He’s openly mocking Trump at international forums, first offering to sell the U.S. Russia’s hypersonic missiles at the G-20 and then offering to sell S-400 missile defense systems to the Saudis to protect their people from outside actors.
All with tongue firmly implanted in cheek, but like with all good comedy a core of undeniable truth.
Things look bad for the alliance between the U.S., Israel and Saudi Arabia, when your opponents are laughing at you openly. In that moment Putin exposed that the emperor truly was standing naked in front of the world.

US SUPPORTED SYRIA "REBELS" FIRE LIVE ROUNDS AT SYRIAN FAMILIES IN RUKBAN CONCENTRATION CAMP - GLOBAL RESEARCH

SOURCE: GLOBAL RESEARCH

Syrian families held captive by Trump Regime Forces and their ISIS affiliates of Maghaweer Thawra terrorists at al-Rukban Concentration Camp went out of their tents in the high heat of the desert to protest for food the day before yesterday, 11th of September, they were faced with live bullets by the US occupation forces.

Russian Coordination Center called on the US occupation forces in Rukban Concentration Camp to exert pressure on US-sponsored Maghaweer Thawra terrorists to stop their terrorist acts against the displaced Syrians held in the camp, these terrorist acts have exacerbated the already dire humanitarian situation of the families there.

Webmaster's Commentary:

President Trump, a word, please: our "allies", the ISIS affiliates of Maghaweer Thawra terrorists at al-Rukban Concentration Camp, are committing war crimes, in our name, with our tax dollars, and on your watch.

So the American people are asking: just what, please, do you intend to do about it?!?

Because, sir, this has to stop, and right the heck now: Mr. President, when, please, did we stop being a nation of laws, and become the nation of loot, pillage, and destroy, and expect no blowback?!?

I remember when I was a kid, absorbing all the propaganda about how great this Country was, I never, in my wildest imagination thought, that I would become a citizen of a country supporting war crimes; and yet, at 70, this is what the Unhinged Surveilled State of Amerika has become; a nation which tolerates, and even participates, in war crimes, done in its name.

And please don't get me started US-enabled, Saudi war crimes in Yemen; we will be here all week.

Israeli Attacks On Syria Halted After Russia Threatened To Shoot Down Jets

According to reports in both Israeli and Arabic regional media, Israel this past week was preparing to expand major airstrikes against "Iran-backed" targets in Syria, but Moscow imposed its red line. The Independent has published a story describing that Russia's military in Syria threatened to shoot down any invading Israeli warplanes using fighter jets or their S-400 system.

The Jerusalem Post, citing sources in the UK Independent (Arabia), writes just after the latest meeting in Sochi between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Russian President Vladimir Putin:

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – SEPTEMBER 12, 2019: RUSSIA RESUMES STRIKES ON TERRORISTS IN IDLIB

On September 11, the US-backed Revolutionary Commando Army claimed that it had repelled a Syrian Arab Army (SAA) attack in the 55km zone surrounding the US military garrison in al-Tanf. The militant group said that SAA units advanced using a Red Cross visit to civilians in the area.

A Syrian military source, stationed around the 55km zone, denied these claims. The source told SouthFront that no clashes happened in the area. There are about 300 Revolutionary Commando Army militants stationed in al-Tanf. They receive training, weapons and supplies from the US-led coalition despite multiple scandals surrounding this cooperation. Earlier in 2019, the group’s spokesperson, Mohamad Mostafa al-Jarrah, was caught raping a 10-year old girl from the nearby refugee camp.

Turkey cannot handle a new wave of migrants from northern Syria, President Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday, adding that Ankara and Washington needed to establish a “safe zone” in the region as soon as possible.

The NATO allies have agreed to establish a safe zone in northeast Syria along Turkey’s southern border, and to clear the area of Syrian Kurdish YPG fighters. On Sunday, Turkish and U.S. troops carried out their first joint military land patrol in the region.

DENMARK ANNOUNCES INCREASED MILITARY CONTRIBUTIONS AND NATO SUPPORT IN SYRIA AND BEYOND

SOURCE: ALETHO NEWS

BY SARAH ABED | SEPTEMBER 9, 2019
Denmark is recognized as one of the most socially and economically developed countries in the world, which enjoys a high standard of living as well as high metrics in national performance, protection of civil liberties, and the lowest perceived level of corruption in the world, has announced that it will be boosting military contributions to missions around the world, including joining the United States in its illegal and unauthorized deployment in northeastern Syria.

The sovereign and proud nation of Syria has neither invited nor does it accept any foreign invaders on its land and has repeatedly demanded that all foreign forces leave on their own before they are forced out. Syria is highly committed to liberating every inch of its land from terrorist control whether that be domestic or foreign, and protecting its territorial integrity.

Webmaster's Commentary:

WOW!

The only thing I can think right now is, which high Danish government official got "so badly compromised" that they felt compelled to promise these actions for the US and NATO?!?

Hundreds of Russian troops are being sent to the Idlib Governorate in northern Syria, the Russian publication Lenta.Ru reported this weekend.

According to the publication, hundreds of Russian troops belonging to the Yevgeny Prigoshin private military contractors were deployed to the Idlib Governorate, despite a pause in offensive operations.

Joint US-Turkish patrols in flagrant violation of Syria’s sovereignty: Damascus

Syria has censured a recent decision by Turkish and US military forces to begin joint ground patrols in a so-called safe zone east of the Euphrates in northeastern Syria, arguing that the move constitutes a blatant violation of the international law and the Syrian sovereignty.

“The Syrian Arab Republic condemns in the strongest terms the US administration and the Turkish regime for conducting joint patrols in the Syrian al-Jazirah region, which is in flagrant violation of the international law as well as the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria,” an unnamed official source at the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates told Syria’s official news agency SANA on Sunday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The one thing which concerns me here,is that private mercs are not, generally, held to the same moral standards as are soldiers, meaning there are things these people are willing - and able - to do, which no Russian military would very think of doing.

IF the jihadis here think that a final bloody battle will find them the winners of such a conflict in Idlib, they had really, honestly, had better think again.

HOW SYRIA DEFEATED THE 2012-2019 INVASION BY US & AL-QAEDA

SOURCE: STRATEGIC-CULTURE.ORG
On August 31st, the brilliant anonymous German intelligence analyst who blogs as “Moon of Alabama” headlined “Syria – Coordinated Foreign Airstrike Kills Leaders Of Two Al-Qaeda Aligned Groups”, and he reported that,“Some three hours ago an air- or missile strike in Syria’s Idleb governorate hit a meeting of leaders of the al-Qaeda aligned Haras-al-Din and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) aka Jabhat al-Nusra. Both were killed. It is likely that leaders of other Jihadist groups were also present. The hit completely destroyed a Haras al-Din guesthouse or headquarter. The Syrian Observatory says that more than 40 people were killed in the strike. The hit will make it much easier for the Syrian army campaign to liberate Idleb governorate.”

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – SEPTEMBER 5, 2019: SYRIAN ARMY PREPARES SECURITY OPERATION IN WESTERN ALEPPO

Late on September 3, Idlib militants carried out an attack on Russia’s Hmeimim Airbase with armed unmanned aerial vehicles. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the airbase’s air-defense forces intercepted all the UAVs. The attack caused no casualties or damage at the airbase.

The attack took place just a few days after the start of the ceasefire in the Idlib zone on August 31. It demonstrates that despite diplomatic efforts by the Syrian-Iranian-Russian alliance, Idlib militant groups are not very interested in a real de-escalation in the region.

On September 4, the Suqour al-Sham Brigades accused Russian special forces of attacking positions of its fighters near Ejaz in southern Idlib. The militant group said that two its members were killed and seven others were injured.

Erdogan: We'll Flood Europe With Syrian Refugees Unless 'Safe Zone' Established

We will be forced to open the gates. We cannot be forced to handle the burden alone," Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned on Thursday while demanding that European countries give political support to his controversial 'safe zone' plan in northern Syria.

Ankara is currently in tense negotiations with the United States over Erdogan's plan to militarily carve out a large swathe of territory along the Turkish-Syrian border which would serve as a buffer zone of sorts where US-backed Kurdish militias could not operate.

Erdogan said one million refugees could settle in the new buffer territory, thus alleviating the crisis on Turkish soil, and ultimately for Europe as well.
Turkey sees the YPG core of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) as a terrorist extension of the outlawed PKK. Turkey has of late vowed to carve out the proposed 'safe' territory on a unilateral basis if it can't make progress with Washington.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One Last Ceasefire Before Oblivion for Jihadists in Syria

If the battle is won, in essence, and the jihadists on the run, why call a ceasefire now?

Simple. Turkey needs to be able to recall its troops from the area and disengage with the rebels it has been backing there for years. That was what Erdogan bargained for in Moscow, the lives of his troops.

That should tell you how serious Putin is about retaking Idlib and how little patience he has now for Erdogan’s nonsense.

West’s “Humanitarian” Claims Struggle as Syrian War Nears Endgame

Op-Ed by Tony Cartalucci

Headlines emanating from the West regarding Syria’s ongoing war have a common theme – allegations of Syria and Russia’s “ruthless barrage” of the northern region of Idlib.

So often, however, has the US and its allies falsely invoked “humanitarian concern” that these headlines fall on informed and discerning ears who not only reject it, but have cemented in their minds a familiarity with this ploy that will make it all but impossible to use it again on whatever battlefield the US shifts its foreign policy to next...

Mattis swipes at Trump, warns of ‘storm clouds gathering’ amid fractured alliances

This War Criminal should talk! We need a non-intervensionist Foreign Policy and the US Military needs to be reduced to a true defensive force with only about $100 billion a year in spending. Most of the Officer Corps needs to be court martialed and imprisoned for life for their crimes against humanity,The American People and The Constitution of the United States. And they should be forbidden to write books for profit or to serve on the boards of defense contractors or to lobby for same. Disgusting war criminal. Remember Haditha and Falluja!

Former Defense Secretary Jim Mattis took several implicit swipes at President Trump’s leadership in an op-ed published Wednesday, warning about the fallout from fractured alliances and increasing divisiveness under the current administration.

Mattis’ comments were included in a lengthy essay adapted from a forthcoming book and published in The Wall Street Journal.

Lebanon's President Announces Israeli Attacks Are "Declaration Of War

After pro-Iran allies in Lebanon, Syria and Iraq were all hit in suspected Israeli strikes in the space of less than 24 hours, signalling a new aggression out of Tel Aviv and willingness to risk yet another major Middle East war, Arab capitals are now alerting their armed forces to be on a war footing.

Lebanese President Michel Aoun on Monday condemned the "Israeli assault on the southern suburbs of Beirut" and told the country's United Nations Special Coordinator, that the recent spate of drone strikes on Lebanon amount to a "declaration of war".

Webmaster's Commentary:

One had to be living under a rock, not to have seen this coming.

And the timing, in terms of Israeli elections, couldn't possibly be more transparent. As we understand, the next Israeli elections will happen as follows:
Israeli Elections will happen on 17 September, 2019, and all 120 Knesset seats are "up for grabs".

That's a whole 24 days from today, folks.

I'm almost surprised that Netanyahu didn't order Israeli media to livestream these attacks, with a heavy rock beat in the background, so the Israeli people would just fall on their knees in admiration of how "butch" he and the Israeli military are, and then loop them, with nothing else allowed to be shown on Israeli media, prior to September's election.

And I also have to wonder; was President Trump advised of these attacks beforehand; or only when they were already a "fait accompli"?!?

It very clearly appears that this hubristic megalomaniac, is perfectly comfortable in starting a regional, or world war, just to save his backside as Prime Minister.

People are generally reluctant to change leadership, in the middle of a shooting war, and that is the general reality, upon which Netanyahu is betting right now.

And do not think, for one millisecond, as the 2020 US campaign lurches forward, and devolves from Russiagate to "Racistgate", that President Trump, and the US will not be called upon to defend the allegedly "only democracy in the Middle East".

This is, of course, an absolute crock of codswallop, for those who unthinkingly wish to swallow it whole.

Russia has deployed Su-35 fighters to Khmeimi Airbase in Syria’s Latakia province since January 2016, following the Turkish downing of a Russian Su-24 strike fighter near the Syrian-Turkish border the previous year. While the Su-24 lacked an air to air capability, and jets previously deployed such as the Su-25 and Su-34 were designed primarily for an air to ground role and deployed for airstrikes against Islamist militants, the Su-35 has been equipped from the outset with air to air missiles and is intended to defend Russian and to a lesser extent allied forces in the theatre.

The maps show the progress between May 15 2019 and today (Red - government control; Green - jihadi control).

The current operation is a pincer movement on the western and eastern side of Khan Shaykhun. It is designed to envelope the jihadi held towns Al Lataminah, Kafr Zayta, Khan Shaykhun and Morek.

RUSSIA ACKNOWLEDGES ITS GROUND TROOPS ARE FIGHTING IN IDLIB

SOURCE: MIDDLE EAST MONITOR

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has acknowledged for the first time the presence of Russian military fighting alongside Syrian regime forces in the Idlib assault, confirming numerous earlier reports.

During a press conference he held following a meeting with Ghana’s Foreign Minister Shirley Botchway yesterday, Lavrov confirmed that “There are Russian soldiers on the ground in the Syrian province of Idlib,” stating that Russia would respond to any attack on its soldiers in Syria.

The acknowledgment by Russia of its direct military presence on the ground in the province is the first which has been made following months of speculation and reports of the troops’ presence over the past month, particularly after Syrian opposition forces sighted the deployment of Russian troops in July.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One cannot really blame Russia for this decision at this point in Syria's war against US trained/armed/funded jihadis.

An all-out decisive battle, with Syria and Russia winning, would most likely cut the heart out of any further support for future destabilization of Syria by the West, with two, local Middle East exceptions; and those would be Turkey, and Israel.
The following incident just happened a couple of days ago:

Turkey complains that one of its convoys got hit by a Syrian missile Strike

And Turkish President Erdogan, a word, please; if you invade a sovereign neighbor, against whom you have not declared war, nor has it declared war on you, I think you, and Turkey's military got off rather lightly, considering the circumstances. Additionally, it appears that the US government absolutely impotent to stop these incursions.

Additionally, Israel believes that it is justified in shelling Syria at any time they please, as indicated by this article, dated July 2019:

Israelis attack in Southern Syria

What really concerns me, is the very real eventuality of a US/Israeli dual pronged approach to preventing Syria's getting it country back, resulting in a potential decap strike on Damascus, which Russia, coordinating with the Syrian military, would have to happen at that point.

War with Russia... over Syria?!?

Folks, this is a lose/lose scenario for both the US, and Israel.

Turkey-Syria War On The Horizon: Airstrikes Target Invading Turkish Army Convoy

Pentagon Uses Report to Lobby Against Bogus Syria Pullout

The Pentagon was very public about how much they opposed President Trump’s plan to withdraw from Syria last year. They’re still very opposed to it, and are trying to spin it as a mark of failure in Syria.

There are big problems with this argument, the biggest of which is that the US never actually withdrew from Syria in the first place, so any report that suggests this mythical pullout caused other things to happen was necessarily flawed.

Still, that didn’t stop the Pentagon from issuing a report that claimed that ISIS is making a comeback in Syria because of Trump’s withdrawal, which never actually happened. This is a fairly cynical attempt to further pollute the idea of the pullout, and ensure a permanent US presence.

It is clear that there is indeed now a clear bi-partisan consensus in the US on China. Luce is surely right. But that is far from being the end of it. A collective psychology of belligerence seems to be taking shape, and, as one commentator noted, it has become not just a great-power rivalry, but a rivalry amongst ‘Beltway’ policy wonks to show “who has the bigger dick”.

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – AUGUST 9, 2019: MILITANTS ON RETREAT IN NORTHWESTERN HAMA

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and other militant groups in northern Hama are losing ground under pressure from government forces.

On August 8, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies liberated the village of Sakhar and the nearby hilltop. Pro-government activists said that SAA special forces overrun militants’ defense in Sakhar in the early hours of the morning, forcing them to withdraw from the village and its surroundings. At least 10 militants and 4 pieces of military equipment, including a battle tank, were eliminated in the recent offensive operation by the SAA.

The course of the ongoing offensive demonstrates that the SAA is likely seeking to outflank the militant-held town of Kafr Zayta from the northern direction before government troops will start the storm of this strong point. In this case, government forces will need to secure their flank by liberating the settlements of al-Habit and Kafr Ayn.

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – AUGUST 8, 2019: ARMY MAKES FRESH GAINS IN BATTLE FOR NORTHERN HAMA

On the morning of August 7, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the Tiger Forces advanced on positions of radical militants in northwestern Hama. During the day, units of the SAA and the Tiger Forces liberated the villages of Arbeen and al-Zakah.

Government troops also cut off the supply line between the militant-held towns of Kafr Zita and al-Lataminah and increased artillery and air strikes on positions in this area.

Kafr Zita and al-Lataminah are the key strong points of Jaysh al-Izza and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) in this part of the so-called Idlib de-escalation zone.

On August 5, the Syrian Armed Forces released a warning to militants that, if they continue to violate the ceasefire regime, the SAA would have to resume military operations. On August 6, violations continued. So, since August 7, the SAA has been conducting active actions to push radical militants out of the supposed demilitarized zone around Idlib.

PENTAGON WARNS IT WILL PREVENT "UNACCEPTABLE" TURKISH INVASION OF NORTHERN SYRIA

Turkey has for days been poised to unilaterally invade northern Syria over US objections, which Ankara officials say is to establish a 32 kilometer (20 mile) inside the war torn country, giving Turkey complete control of a region where the Syrian Kurdish YPG operates (People's Protection Units). Turkey has long considered the US-backed group, which forms the core of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), to be a terrorist extension of the outlawed PKK.

The Pentagon has condemned the impending Turkish unilateral move, with US Defense Secretary Mark Esper telling reporters early Tuesday that it would be unacceptable and thwarted by Washington, though it's unclear how far the Pentagon would be willing to go. "What we're going to do is prevent unilateral incursions that would upset, again, these mutual interests that the United States, Turkey and the SDF share with regard to northern Syria," Esper said.

AIR FORCE SET TO DEPLOY DRONE KILLING LASER WEAPON ON MILITARY DUNE BUGGIES

Raytheon published a company press release last week that detailed how it "will deploy two prototype high energy laser weapon systems" to the Air Force for a 12-month in-field operation against enemy drones.

The $23 million contract for two of Raytheon’s High Energy Laser Weapons Systems (HELWS) will be used by the Air Force in an unknown warzone overseas, most likely Syria for about one year.

"What we really want to do is figure out how we can deploy these systems in an environment where our warfighters work and train every day," said Evan Hunt, director of high energy laser and counter-UAS at Raytheon.

US, Turkey Reach Deal on Safe Zone in Northern Syria

The US and Turkey have reached a deal on Wednesday, according to both sides, which is intended to reduce the risk of Turkey invading northern Syria. The deal will establish an operations center for a “safe zone” in northern Syria.

The safe zone is intended to span 250 miles of northeastern border of Syria and Turkey, and will be carved more or less entirely out of Kurdish-held territory. The deal is meant to allow Syrian refugees to return through this “peace corridor.”

Video: Collapse of Ceasefire, Syrian Military Vows to Resume Operations Against Al Qaeda Militants

The new ceasefire agreement designed to cease hostilities in northwestern Hama and southern Idlib has just collapsed.

On August 3, the leader of Hay’at Tahir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra), Abu Mohammad al-Julani, announced that his group would not withdraw “a single fighter or a weapon” from the demilitarized zone and vowed to recapture the areas, which had been liberated by the Syrian Army. The withdrawal of radicals from this demilitarized zone had been the key demand behind the establishment of the ceasefire.

On the same day, Abu al-Walid al-Tunisi, a senior commander of al-Qaeda-affiliated Horas al-Din, was killed in an improvised-explosive device (IED) explosion in Taftanaz in eastern Idlib. Some pro-militant sources immediately blamed Damascus.

They are al Qaeda Jabhat al Nusra Wahhabi Salafists Talibans etc and the extremist jihadists sent by the West, the Saudis, Qatar and Turkey. Your Obama and whoever is behind him or above him are supporting al Qaeda and leading a proxy war on my country.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Let's see here; Turkey is a NATO ally, with one of the largest standing armies within the NATO band of brother/sister countries; Turkey has just spurned the US's F-35 in favor of Russia's S-400 defense systems; what could possibly go wrong here, other than the deaths of US service members, pledged to support the Kurdish military in Syria?!?

Everything, including an expulsion of Turkey from NATO, if they go ahead with this invasion; and Russia... has been "grooming" Turkey with an eye toward turning this country into a Russian asset, for quite some time now, and through several US administrations.

One of the most alarming aspects to this story, is that no one in DC appears to have seen this situation coming.

One of the most vile, and ill-kept secrets in DC is that those in the Bowels of Power, and their operatives, remain pathologically incapable of thinking a scenario through to its logical conclusion.; this is why we have Turkey breaking away from NATO in spirit, and perhaps, soon, in fact.

And Russia's President Putin is laughing himself to sleep over this potential Turkish invasion of Syria, potentially creating a really embarrassing situation for the the US and for NATO.

Erdogan announces military operation east of Euphrates river to push back Kurds, US urges him to reconsider

In what would be Turkey’s third cross-border military operation in Syria since the war began, in as many years, Erdogan announced on Sunday that he would be launching a military operation east of the Euphrates river, to push back Kurdish militias on Turkey’s southern border.

Although Erdogan did not set a timeframe, preparations have been underway for well over a month. Increased deployment of Turkish military forces along with weaponry, and tanks, etc. have been reported by various sources, on the Turkish side of the southern border with Syria.

Preparations are also underway by Kurdish militias, to counter any possible Turkish aggression. Both sides have said that if the other attacks they will be ready to respond.

Casualties reported as militants attack Russian air base in Syria’s Latakia

The Russian Defense Ministry says foreign-sponsored Takfiri militants have shelled the outskirts of the strategic Hmeimim air base in Syria's western coastal province of Latakia, injuring a number of people.

“On August 5 at around 2:30 p.m. Moscow time (1130 GMT), airspace control equipment at the Hmeimim airbase detected the launch of three rockets in the direction of the Russian air base coming from the north,” the ministry said in a statement released on Monday.

The statement noted that the barrage did not hit the airbase, and that the military site is continuing its operations as normal.

Russia is following through with the decisions it took after the Russian Il-20 plane was destroyed on 17 September 2018 during a joint British- French – Israeli attack. The Russian Minister for Defense is supplying the Syrian army not just with S-300 (superior system of anti-air defence), but also with all material for electronic warfare. At the same time, the Pentagon is withdrawing its Patriots from several countries in the region. The balance of forces is profoundly modified.

Any Turkish incursion into Syria ‘unacceptable,’ Pentagon chief warns

US Defense Secretary Mark Esper said on Tuesday any Turkish operation into northern Syria would be “unacceptable” and Washington would prevent unilateral incursions, Reuters reports.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday that Turkey, which already has a foothold in northwest Syria, will carry out a military operation in a Kurdish-controlled area east of the Euphrates in northern Syria.

“Clearly we believe any unilateral action by [Turkey] would be unacceptable,” Esper told reporters in Tokyo. “What we’re going to do is prevent unilateral incursions that would upset, again, these mutual interests… the US, Turkey and [the Syrian Democratic Forces] share with regard to northern Syria,” Esper said.

Another Failed Ceasefire in Syria

This time is following the earlier pattern. Once again, jihadists violated the agreement, surprising no one knowing how they operate.

Controlled by the US and its imperial partners, they salute and obey orders to prevent conflict resolution.

Achieving it would defeat Washington’s aim to transform Syria into a US client state, eliminate an Israeli rival, and isolate Iran — the scheme supported by both right wings of the imperial state’s war party, the human toll of no consequence.

On Friday, AMN News reported that al-Nusra jihadists in Idlib province attacked eastern Latakia city, breaching the fantasy ceasefire straightaway, citing a Syrian military source.

ERDOGAN PUBLICLY ANNOUNCES TURKEY INVASION EAST OF THE EUPHRATES

SOURCE: MIDDLE EAST MONITOR
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has publicly announced the decision to launch a long-awaited military operation in Syria, east of the Euphrates River, and said that the United States (US) and Russia have been warned and provided with the information necessary.

Speaking at an inauguration ceremony in the north-western city of Bursa yesterday, Erdogan stated that “We entered Afrin, Jarabulus, and Al-Bab, and now we’re going to enter east of the Euphrates,” adding that “We shared this with the US and Russia.”

The military operation has been highly speculated on in recent weeks following talks between Turkish military figures such as Minister of Defence Hulusi Akar and US Envoy to Syria James Jeffreys regarding a proposed safe zone in northern Syria. At the start of the talks in July, Turkey warned that it would conduct the operation if an agreement was not reached for the establishment of the zone.

Webmaster's Commentary:

My big question here is, what will Russia do, if this incursion goes ahead, as planned?!?

There had to be some kind of quid pro quo, at least with Russia, for them to allow this Turkish military operation to move forward; I am having a hard time believing that Russia would go along with this, without getting something back for Al Assad, but only time will reveal what that was.

Bellingcat unloads 4,000-word piece on Tulsi Gabbard over her questioning Syria chemical attacks

In case you’ve missed it all, Gabbard has been branded a ‘Russian’ spoiler for whichever candidate is eventually picked, and, once again, an apologist for Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Joining the chorus of bashers on Sunday was Elliot Higgins, the founder of the UK-based ‘citizen investigation’ outlet Bellingcat, who wrote a whopping 4,000-word piece attacking Gabbard’s negative attitude toward regime change wars. In particular, Higgins didn’t like her skepticism over chemical weapons attacks in Syria reflected on her campaign website. The attacks were used by Washington to justify missile attacks against the country’s government – and by extension continued illegal US military presence in the country.

The mammoth piece starts with screenshots featuring logos of RT and InfoWars (Russian propaganda, dear readers, conspiracy theories!) and goes on to criticize anyone doubting the US-favored narrative about what happened in Syria.

Peace guarantors ‘committed to preserving Syria's sovereignty’

The three guarantor states in the Syrian peace process have reiterated their commitment to preserving Syria’s sovereignty, at the end of the 13th round of talks for peace in the Arab country in Kazakhstan’s capital, Nur-Sultan.

In the final communiqué of the two-day talks issued on Friday, the guarantor states, namely Iran, Russia, and Turkey, reaffirmed their adherence to the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Syria.

They also stressed their determination to continue their cooperation until the complete elimination of all terrorist groups in the country.

The three countries also rejected the occupation of Syria’s Golan Heights by the Israeli regime.

They also expressed deep concern over the spread of activities by the so-called Jabhat Fateh al-Sham terrorist group, formerly known as Jabhat al-Nusra, across the northwestern province of Idlib.

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – AUGUST 2, 2019: IDLIB MILITANTS RESCUED BY ANOTHER CEASEFIRE

On August 1, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies continued their advance on militants’ positions in northern Hama liberated the villages of Mushairifah, Aziziah, Abu Raeida Gharbi and Abu Raeida.

According to local sources, SAA units also pushed towards al-Zaka and al-Arbaeen, but were not able to capture these strongpoints of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham.

The former Syrian branch of al-Qaeda and its allies, especially Jaysh al-Izza, have reportedly suffered from heavy losses as a result of the recent clashes and intensified bombing campaign.

At least eleven militants of the Turkish-backed Suqour al-Sham Brigades were killed on August 1 when pro-government fighters raided their position near Ejaz in southeastern Idlib. The attackers reportedly used silenced weapons to kill everyone that was inside the position before withdrawing to the SAA positions near Abu Duhur airbase.

In 2005, playwright Harold Pinter’s Nobel Prize acceptance speech sent shock waves around the ruling establishment. During the speech, Pinter described the US strategy of “low intensity” conflict:

“Low intensity conflict means that thousands of people die but slower than if you dropped a bomb on them in one fell swoop. It means that you infect the heart of the country, that you establish a malignant growth and watch the gangrene bloom.”

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – JULY 13-17, 2019: WAITING FOR NEW IDLIB OFFENSIVE

The situation in northwestern Hama and along the entire contact line around the Idlib de-escalation zone has remained stable but tense during the past week. The Syrian Arab Army, the Tiger Forces and their allies have repeatedly engaged in local clashes with Hayat Tahir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) and other radical groups. However, no side has undertaken any notable offensive operations.

Fresh satellite images of the Russian Hmeimim airbase showed the deployment of seven Su-24, four Su-25, seven Su-34 and four Su-35 warplanes as well as an A-50 airborne early warning and control, an IL-20 electronic intelligence plane, two IL-76 and an An-30 cargo planes.

The warplanes were all deployed on the airbase’s ramp. This indicates that the hardened aircraft shelters are still under construction. New revetments are being built in the northeastern section of the airbase. These measures are needed to prevent any damage that may be caused by repeated armed drone attacks by militants.

Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, which published the story said its claim was based on leaked documents. On his Facebook page, Kahana wrote that he opposes the Iranian presence in Syria, which he says belongs to the Syrian people.

TURKEY WILL GET A CHUNK OF SYRIA, AN ADVANTAGE OF BEING IN NATO

ERIC ZUESSE, ORIGINALLY POSTED AT THE SAKER
The success of Turkey’s takeover of Syria’s most pro-jihadist province, Idlib, is making less and less likely that Syria will be able to continue maintaining Idlib as being a part of Syria. (This is something I had predicted, back on 14 September 2018, to be possible or even likely, and now it is actually happening.) On July 10th, Reuters headlined “Assad hits a wall in Syrian war as front lines harden”, and reported that, “More than two months of Russian-backed operations in and around Idlib province have yielded little or nothing for Assad’s side. It marks a rare case of a military campaign that has not gone his way since Russia intervened in 2015. While resisting government attacks, the insurgents have managed to carve out small advances of their own, drawing on ample stocks of guided anti-tank missiles that opposition and diplomatic sources say have been supplied by Turkey.” It continues:

HOW ISRAELI-DESIGNED DRONES BECAME RUSSIA’S EYES IN THE SKY FOR DEFENDING BASHAR AL-ASSAD

How Israeli-designed drones ended up supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is a case study in the complicated relationship between Israel and Russia. Though Russia has been instrumental in protecting the Assad government, which appeared to be on the brink of collapse four years ago, it has also carefully cultivated a military relationship with Israel over the past decade.

After more than seven years of war, the skies over Syria are saturated with aircraft from multiple militaries and armed groups, each pursuing their own goals, including using the country as a weapons-testing ground. American airpower and Kurdish ground forces helped grind the Islamic State’s caliphate down to a tiny pocket before it dramatically collapsed this past spring. Meanwhile, Turkish occupation forces and their proxies are conducting a brutal campaign of repression in the Syrian-Kurdish canton of Afrin.

Video: Syrian Army Repelled Large Attack in Northern Hama. UK Claims Iran Attempted to Capture Its Tanker

On July 10, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) and its allies launched a surprise attack on positions of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in northern Hama and captured the town of al-Hamameyat and the nearby hill.

According to the group’s news agency, Iba’a, militants destroyed a battle tank and a Shilka self-propelled gun belonging to the SAA. The loss of al-Hamameyat became the first serious SAA setback since April, when pro-government forces launched a limited operation in the area.

On July 11, the SAA and the National Defense Forces, backed up by Russian and Syrian warplanes, launched an attack to take back the town. According to pro-government sources, SAA and NDF units successfully broke the militants’ defense and recaptured al-Hamameyat.

Iran To UK: We'll Continue Oil Exports "Under Any Conditions" As Detained Tanker Crew Released

As the "tanker wars" continue Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif warned his British counterpart Jeremy Hunt in a telephone call on Saturday that Iran plans to continue its oil exports "under any conditions".

Zarif also repeated Iranian demands for the UK to release the Grace 1 oil tanker, seized over a week ago after it was boarded by Royal Marines off Gibraltar. It had been carrying 2 million barrels of Iranian oil and was alleged to have been bound for Syria, in violation of EU sanctions; however, Tehran has accused the UK of fundamentally doing the United States' bidding.

In a public statement posted to Twitter, Hunt informed Zarif that the UK would release the tanker if it received guarantees it would not go to Syria.

Russia calls for withdrawal of foreign troops from Syria

Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko yesterday stressed that any prospective political reconciliation in Syria should include the withdrawal of foreign troops from the country.

In a press release, Grushko said that the Russian military is the only foreign force based in Syria by invitation, which is in keeping with international law, Al-Sharq Al-Awsat reported yesterday citing Russia Today (RT).

This came after US news reports that France and Britain have agreed to send troops to replace US troops, which plan to leave Syria after US President Donald Trump in December announced he would withdraw his forces from the country.

UK & France Accept Trump's Call For More Troops In Syria As Germany Rebuffs

Amid an awkward diplomatic row between the UK and US following leaked cables sent from Britain's ambassador to the United States back to London which described President Trump as "inept," "insecure" and "incompetent," the United Kingdom joined France Tuesday in being among the only US allies to heed the administration's call to bolster forces in Syria.

Notably Germany has rebuffed the US request to deploy additional troops as part of the "anti-ISIS coalition" primarily in Syria's north and east after US special envoy James Jeffrey told Die Welt’s Sunday edition that,"We want ground forces from Germany to partially replace our soldiers." This as the Pentagon plans a draw down in line with Trump's longtime promise to the American public of a "full" and "complete" withdrawal which has been long delayed since last year over concerns that either pro-Assad and Iranian forces or Turkey could fill the vacuum.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Forgive me, but I do not see any drawdown in Syria, until the required "regime change" comes about in Damascus; and that is going to take a great deal of time, well beyond a year, if the US can actually pull it off.

Berlin said on Monday it had no plans to send ground troops to Syria, refusing a US request for Germany to ramp up its military involvement in the fight against Islamic State (IS).

US special representative on Syria James Jeffrey had told German media, including the Die Welt newspaper, on Sunday that Washington wanted Berlin to put boots on the ground in northern Syria.

Germany has turned down a request from Washington to deploy ground forces in Syria as the US military looks to scale back its presence in the region, describing the proposal as inconsistent with Berlin’s “well known” policy.

US Special Representative for Syria Engagement James Jeffrey confirmed on Sunday that he had asked the German government to provide troops to replace a portion of US forces currently stationed in Syria. He said the request was part of Washington’s preparations for an eventual US military withdrawal in the country.

Berlin didn’t wait long before issuing a curt “nein” to its transatlantic ally.

Gibraltar court extends detention of Iranian tanker for 14 days: Attorney general

A top court in the British overseas territory of Gibraltar has ruled that an Iranian supertanker illegally seized in the Strait of Gibraltar can be detained for up to 14 more days.

“The Supreme Court has issued today’s order on the basis that there are reasonable grounds to consider that the detention of the Grace 1 is required for the purposes of compliance with the European Union (EU) Regulation 36/2012 on sanctions on Syria,” Gibraltar’s government said in a statement on Friday.

The Only Strategic Rationale For America's Involvement In Syria Finally Revealed

Authored by Elias Samo via The Strategic Culture Foundation,

“Washington lacks a clear strategy in Syria “; those were the recent words of Robert Ford, the last American ambassador to Syria who served prior to and during the first few years of the Syrian uprising from 2010 to 2014. A man of Ford’s intricate knowledge of the Syrian/American political dynamic is surly knowledgeable enough to assess America’s policy towards Syria. He goes on to say, “It is hard to explain the fundamental American mission in Syria… Is it to fight Daesh? Or is it to help promote a Kurdish autonomous district in Northeastern Syria… Or is it to resist Iranian encouragement?” It is partially all three; however, oddly enough, Mr. Ford avoids the obvious top priority and strategic rationale for America’s involvement in Syria: The Protection of Israel.

Mysterious blasts off Syria's coast disrupt Iran oil delivery

A mysterious attack on pipelines off Syria’s coast, which a Syrian official said was conducted with the help of a foreign state, disrupted an Iranian crude oil delivery.

On June 22, explosive devices damaged underwater pipelines used to deliver crude oil from tankers to the Baniyas refinery, in the western Syrian governorate of Tartus, causing an oil spill, the official Syrian news agency Sana reported.

The sabotage was “qualitative and professional”, the deputy head of the Syrian Company for Oil Transport told a local radio station, adding that a foreign state co-ordinated with the perpetrators to send a message to Damascus.

TankerTrackers.com, a US company that closely follows Iranian oil shipments to Syria, saw the Iranian-flagged Stark I oil tanker arriving off the Baniyas coast a day after blasts disabled the pipelines.
