Was UK paying White Helmets to produce Syria ‘chemical weapon’ PR as cover for Jaish Al Islam?

As controversy rages over the alleged April 2018 Douma “chemical weapon attacks” that signaled the end of Jaish Al Islam’s occupation, life in the Syrian city gradually returns to peace and stability.

The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons’ (OPCW) interim report and final report have thrown the Western media community into disarray. Already scrambling to salvage their loss of face after the “no sarin” conclusions were drawn by the OPCW in July 2018, they are now trying to convert an inconclusive OPCW report into a definitive claim regarding chlorine use, in order to reassert their declining narrative supremacy.

A “chemical weapon” narrative that has effectively sustained the criminalization of the Syrian government and thus the continued unlawful aggression, direct and through Takfiri proxies, by the US coalition against Syria.

Helping Netanyahu: Why Lindsey Graham declared occupied Golan as Israeli

The Israeli prime minister has picked a good moment to pitch his bid 'to keep Golan as part of Israel' and keep himself in office for another term

US Senator Lindsey Graham, a close ally of President Donald Trump, has a theatrical turn of phrase and a ham actor’s sense of timing. He enjoys rhetorical outbursts and dramatic flourishes and is always on the hunt for an appropriate stage.

What better one to reaffirm his undying support for Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu than the occupied Golan Heights?

US Duplicity over Golan Demolishes Posturing on Crimea

In a controversial snub to international law, the United States signaled last week that it is moving to officially recognize the Golan Heights as part of Israeli territory. If the US does so, then it forfeits any moral authority to sanction Russia over allegations of “annexing Crimea”.

Syria, Russia: Washington gives millions to White Helmets terrorists while preventing aid from reaching al-Rukban camp

The Syrian and Russian coordination committees for the return of displaced Syrians said that while the United States is forcefully detaining displaced Syrians in al-Rukban camp in disastrous conditions, it allocated millions of dollars to support the White Helmets organization.

In a joint statement on Tuesday, the committees said the United States allocated “aid” during the recent conference in Brussels which will not go to the Syrian people; rather they will be given to the White Helmets terrorists to fund their acts of fabricating incidents involving toxic chemicals.

The US State Department announced on March 14 that it will give USD 5 million to the White Helmets which is affiliated to Jabhat al-Nusra terror organization, while Qatar gave the organization USD 2 million on February 3.

Oil profits grease Trump administration’s move to recognize Israeli annexation of Golan

Washington last week gave another sign that the Trump administration is moving towards declaring the Golan Heights to be Israeli sovereign territory. At the heart of the move are huge anticipated US-Israeli oil profits.

In an annual human rights report, the State Department referred to the Golan Heights as “Israeli-controlled,” dropping the international norm of citing the contested area as “Israeli-occupied.” The change in wording is significant.

The Golan Plateau is considered to be Syrian territory under international law, according to UN resolutions. Israel has occupied the strategically important area overlooking the Jordan Valley since the 1967 Six Day War. In 1981, Israel formally annexed the land, but the self-declared claim has never been recognized internationally.

Hence, the normative term “Israeli-occupied Golan” in UN terminology, not “Israeli-controlled.”

Top US General Denies Plans to Leave 1,000 Troops in Syria

US Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Joe Dunford issued a statement Monday denying weekend media reports that the US plans to leave around 1,000 troops in Syria, saying the reports are “factually incorrect.”

Dunford presented the current planned “residual force” as 200, saying that this hadn’t changed since February. The US announced 200 would stay on February 21, but on February 22 officially increased that number to 400.

It’s not clear from Dunford’s statement where the “incorrect” aspect of the new report, which came out of a Wall Street Journal, exists. That report suggested that the 1,000 figure was not yet finalized, but was being discussed. Dunford’s comments didn’t include any details on what is actually being discussed, but just that nothing was finalized.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I think the multiple troop numbers being given, are simply a way of creating confusion about how many US troops the US does have in Syria.

Attempt to prosecute Assad at ICC is aimed at undermining Syrian peace process

Historian John Laughland explains why the International Criminal Court's attempt to indict President Assad of Syria reveals its dictatorial and warmongering tendencies.

The announcement that “a group of Syrian refugees and their London lawyers” have found “a neat legal trick” to press for an indictment against Syrian President Bashar Assad by the International Criminal Court demonstrates, yet again, the dangerous corruption of international justice, against which I have been warning for over a decade.

US denies report it is leaving up to 1,000 troops in Syria

The United States strongly denied Sunday a report that it intended to leave almost 1,000 troops in Syria, adding plans for a residual force of around 200 troops had not changed.

The Wall Street Journal had reported Sunday that as talks with Turkey, US-backed Kurdish forces and European allies have failed to produce a deal on a "safe zone" in northeastern Syria, the US now intended to keep working with Kurdish fighters in the country.

It quoted US officials as saying the plan could see up to 1,000 US forces spread across the country.

"A claim reported this evening by a major U.S. newspaper that the U.S. military is developing plans to keep nearly 1,000 U.S. troops in Syria is factually incorrect," General Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said in a statement.

Damascus Accuses US and Its Allies of War Crimes in Syria

The Syrian Foreign Ministry responded to the statement issued by the US-led coalition partners that refused to take part in the reconstruction of Syria noting that these states are not invited to contribute to the reconstruction after those war crimes committed against the Syrian people.

"These countries that killed and destroyed have never been interested in the reconstruction [of Syria] and they are not invited to contribute to the reconstruction. These states should only pay compensations for the killing and destruction committed as a result of their heinous crimes and stop their blatant interference in internal affairs", the statement obtained by Sputnik read.

The ministry noted that counterterrorism methods of the US-led coalition constitute war crimes and violations of the international law.

US Military Now Planning To Keep 1,000 Troops On The Ground In Syria

President Trump ordered complete US withdrawal in December; in February he said 200 would remain; and now...

The US military is now making plans to keep almost 1,000 troops in Syria, officials said, a shift that comes three months after President Donald Trump ordered a complete withdrawal, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday, citing unidentified US officials.

Talks with Turkey, European allies and US-backed Kurdish fighters have so far failed to secure an agreement to create a safe zone in northeastern Syria, part of Trump’s plan for leaving Syria, the Journal said.

The US now plans to keep working with Kurdish fighters in Syria despite Turkish threats to cross the border and attack the Kurds, the US officials said. The proposal may keep as many as 1,000 American forces, spread from the north of Syria to the south, they said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

More proof, if anyone needed it, that President Trump is not at all in charge of US foreign policy when it comes to Syria.

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – MARCH 18, 2019: RUSSIA DEPLOYS SU-25 ATTACK AIRCRAFT TO CONTAIN IDLIB MILITANTS

Government forces and the Russian Military Police have kicked off a joint security operation in the Eastern Ghouta region near Damascus. In particular, the operation targeted Jisreen, Mohammedia, al-Aftaris, al-Nashabiyah and Marj al-Sultan where a notable number of weapons and equipment was abandoned by militants after the defeat suffered from the Syrian Army in 2018.

According to reports, locals, many of them former members of militant groups, who opted to reconcile with the Damascus government, are assisting the operation with information about possible locations of hidden weapon caches.

The Trump Regime Considers the West Bank, Gaza, and Syria’s Golan Israeli Territory

The West Bank and Gaza are illegally occupied Palestinian territories. There’s nothing “disputed” about them.

Expanding Israeli settlements on stolen Palestinian land flagrantly violate Fourth Geneva’s Article 49, stating:

“Individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory to the territory of the Occupying Power or to that of any other country, occupied or not, are prohibited, regardless of their motive.”

“The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.”

The International Committee of the Red Cross affirmed Fourth Geneva, saying “international humanitarian law prohibits the establishment of settlements, as these are a form of population transfer into occupied territory.”

US announces more support for ‘heroic’ White Helmets in Syria

The Trump administration is doubling down on backing the White Helmets, the self-proclaimed civil defense group with often controversial activity in militant-held areas of Syria, pledging a $5 million donation at a conference.

The contribution was announced by ambassador James Jeffrey, US special envoy to the anti-Islamic State (IS, formerly known as ISIS) coalition, at the third Conference on Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region, held in Brussels.

The $5 million will fund both the “vital, life-saving operations” by the White Helmets and the work of the International, Impartial and Independent Mechanism (IIIM), a UN body created in late 2016 to investigate – but not prosecute – alleged atrocities in Syria after 2011.

There is a very solid reason why President Trump has not pulled completely out of Syria, as he told the American people he would; and I do not know under what guise, or cover, he is working, and why they are still there, but they are.

So one has to wonder; are us troops going to be the "sacrificial lambs" for a phoney "false flag" (possibly executed by the White Helmets) which to blame on Hezbollah, or Iran, as the "excuse/justification" for going into Syria, and potentially, Iran, with a full force militarily decap strike?!?

Ashrawi: US Human Rights Report Meant to Whitewash Israeli Occupation

The US Human Right Report is intended to whitewash the Israeli occupation and excuse human rights violations against the Palestinian people, Dr. Hanan Ashrawi, member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), said today.

“After the release of the so-called Human Rights Report, by the US State Department, it is now abundantly clear that the Trump administration is gearing all branches of the government to whitewash the Israeli occupation and its pervasive violations of human rights,” said Ashrawi in a statement. “The ‘report’ also decontextualizes the reality by omitting the inescapable fact of Israeli occupation of Palestine, reflecting this administration’s infatuation with an alternative yet fallacious version of reality and legality.”

RUSSIA REINFORCES ITS AIR GROUP IN SYRIA WITH SU-25 WARPLANES

The Su-25 Grach is a single-seat, twin-engine, close air support warplane developed in the USSR by Sukhoi. The warplane’s latest upgrade, the Su-25sm3, is equipped with the advanced tactical EW suite Vitebsk-25, the SOLT-25 day\night electro-optical targeting system, a new encrypted communications system and an updated navigation system.

This type of warplanes was deployed the Hmeimim airbase several times since 2015 to provide the SAA with close air support during its battles against ISIS and other radical groups throughout Syria.

The redeployment of the Su-25 suggests that the Russian Aerospace Forces are about to step up their operations in Syria, likely against the remaining militants in the governorate of Idlib.

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – MARCH 15, 2019: RUSSIAN WARPLANES RAIN HELL ON IDLIB

On March 13, warplanes of the Russian Aerospace Forces delivered a series of airstrikes on infrastructure of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham in the city of Idlib and in its southeastern countryisde. According to reports, at least 16 strikes hit weapon depots, HQs and a jail belonging to the terrorist group.

Opposition sources said that hundreds of prisoners, including dozens persons allegedly linked with the Syrian and Russian intelligence managed to escape the prison after the airstrike. Hayat Tahir al-Sham responded with a wide-scale security operation to trace and capture these people. This operation is still ongoing with varying results.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the strikes in Idlib and said that they were coordinated with Turkey. According to the Russian side, the strikes hit depots in which the terrorist group was storing armed unnamed aerial vehicles. The eliminated UAVs were reportedly prepared for an attack on Russia’s Hmeimim airbase.

The Assad Regime Won Syria's Civil War. Can It Survive an Israeli Attack?

Syria’s descent into the living hell of civil war has had mixed ramifications for Israel.

Syria’s armed forces, the primary threat against which the IDF was built and trained for decades, have been devastated and, with the partial exception of its air defenses, no longer constitute a major military challenge to Israel.

With Egypt and Jordan having long ratified peace and the demise of the "eastern front" following the second Gulf War, Israel no longer faces any neighboring state with the capability and desire to wage war against it, a dramatic improvement in its strategic position.

According to IAI, the weapon is electrically powered, weights 45 kg and carries a shaped charge weighing about 8 kg. However, one of the most interesting things is that the Mini Harpy promo includes an animation showing how the weapon destroys an apparent Russian all-altitude surveillance radar 96L6, which can be used in both S-300 and S-400 air defense systems, something what has never happened in reality.

SYRIA READY FOR WAR TO REGAIN OIL-RICH GOLAN HEIGHTS

There is, however, a more practical and less ideological reason for annexing the Golan Heights—oil.

In early 2013, Israel granted the American corporation Genie Oil and Gas a permit to explore for oil and gas on a 153-square mile radius in the southern part of the Golan Heights. Genie Energy is advised by Dick Cheney and its shareholders include Jacob Rothschild and Rupert Murdoch.

Bestselling author and strategic risk consultant F. William Engdahl writes in Golan Heights, Israel, Oil and Trump:

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF true, (and it concerns me that this story goes to a single source as reference, World Israeli News), the Middle East is about to get into another bloody conflict, over the Golan oil and reserves here.

I have not read any confirmation in any Syrian news in English, that this was actually what Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister said.

This could well be Israeli propaganda, to give Netanyahu time to do something to make him look like " a leader" to his people, ahead of the 9 April elections in Israel.

The Middle Eastern Leadership knows that Netanyahu's hanging on to power by a very fine thread, and with a 56 page indictment against him, may well not win the next election.

I would expect things to get very nasty, if Netanyahu's internal pols don't show him winning the race for Prime Minister; cornered animals, and cornered politicians are at their most dangerous; and right now, Netanyahu is cornered, geopolitically, so it is difficult to foresee what he is willing to do at this point.

US-led airstrikes claim dozens of civilian lives in Syria’s Dayr al-Zawr

Dozens of civilians, including women and children, have been killed after the US-led coalition purportedly fighting the terrorist Takfiri Daesh group carried out a series of aerial assaults in Syria’s troubled eastern province of Dayr al-Zawr.

Local sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Syria’s official news agency SANA that 50 people were killed and scores of others injured on Monday when US-led warplanes targeted families fleeing the last vestiges of Daesh's territorial rule in the besieged village of Baghouz near the Iraqi border.

The sources added that the death toll was expected to rise as some of the wounded were in critical condition.

The development came a few days after US-led coalition warplanes dropped white phosphorus bombs on Baghouz, leaving a number of citizens, mostly women and children, dead.

SYRIA READY FOR WAR TO REGAIN OIL-RICH GOLAN HEIGHTS

Resolutions introduced by staunchly pro-Israel advocates in the US Senate follow a pattern. Venezuela, with the largest reserves of oil in the world, and Iran, with oil reserves coming in third behind Venezuela and Saudi Arabia, are now suffering under US-imposed economic sanctions. The Trump administration argues Venezuela is a brutal socialist dictatorship and Iran is secretly building nuclear weapons and testing missiles that will be used against Israel.

WHY IRAN, NOT VENEZUELA, IS THE LIKELIEST U.S. SHOOTING WAR

Despite growing Trump administration tensions with Venezuela and even with North Korea, Iran is the likeliest spot for Washington’s next shooting war, says Bob Dreyfuss for TomDispatch.

The Trump Administration is Reckless Enough to Turn the Cold War With Iran Into a Hot One

Here’s the foreign policy question of questions in 2019: Are President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, all severely weakened at home and with few allies abroad, reckless enough to set off a war with Iran?

Could military actions designed to be limited — say, a heightening of the Israeli bombing of Iranian forces inside Syria, or possible U.S. cross-border attacks from Iraq, or a clash between American and Iranian naval ships in the Persian Gulf — trigger a wider war?

Webmaster's Commentary:

Yesterday, in an article from amn.com, the following headline appeared:

Israel to go to war in Syria, if Netanyahu's leadership is in jeopardy

And I have to wonder: is THIS the reason President Trump has not ordered our military completely out of the country?

Are they to be the "sacrificial lambs" to get hit from an Israeli false flag mission, claiming it was Syrian (or Russian troops) who did the deed?

This, of course, would not be the first time that the Israeli government ordered our troops to be murdered; and if your mouth is gaping in outrage right now, you need to cage the rage, and read about the bombing of the USS Liberty here: The USS Liberty: If Americans Knew

And of course, there is the threat from Al Assad, that if Israel's IDF does not leave the Golan Heights, Syria will attack them militarily, to get them out. Syria notifies israel that it will attack the IDF in the Golan Heights

So, in summation, there are 4 scenarios which may be playing out here: you have a potential Israeli strike against Iran, if Netanyahu feels his days as prime minister are numbered; you have a potential Israeli strike against alleged Iranian outposts in Syria (and/or against US forces there), potential Syrian strikes against Israel in the Golan, or potentially, US strikes against Iran

It is very infuriating, seeing how many people want the spectre of death and destruction to continue its rampage in the Middle East; this may well involve both Russia and the US, if any of these scenario unfold or some of them unfold simultaneously.

Misled on the Wall, Trump Must Hold Firm Against the Wars

President Donald Trump’s first veto will now likely be of the resolution seeking to block his use of emergency powers to build a border wall. Whatever the merits, that’s better politics—and more “America First”—than vetoing Congress’s attempt to stop U.S. support for the Yemen war.

Trump promised during the 2016 campaign to guard America’s borders rather than police the world. The reason he finds himself in the position of fighting for a national emergency declaration is that he listened to lawmakers, including some influential members of his own party, whose priorities ran in the opposite direction.

Late last year when Trump began his ill-fated wall showdown and called for winding down two wars—one that had gone on too long, the other that was never authorized by Congress or our business to fight in the first place—it appeared he had belatedly learned this lesson.

Speaking to a mobile phone camera, she described her interpretation of the Quran as a justification for the rape and murder of Yazidi women taken prisoner as sex slaves, saying because the Muslim holy book defines prisoners of war as 'property' they can be treated as objects.

But when pressed on if it does actually states in the Quran that prisoners can be treated this way, the woman replied she 'did not know much' about the Islamic text.

Raqqa: US Army Choppers Rescue ISIL Commanders Holding Valuable Intel

The US-led coalition helped four senior ISIL commanders to escape Raqqa province in a heliborne operation that included six helicopters flying in al-Rafedin region in al-Tabaqa town in Southwestern Raqqa, local sources in Raqqa said.

The sources, meantime, noted that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) had besieged the region where heliborne operations were conducted.

Meantime, the Arabic-language service of the Russian Sputnik News Agency said that the relocated ISIL terrorist commanders had previously fled to Raqqa after the Syrian and Russian armies conducted military operations to set free the city of al-Qoryatayn in Homs province.

It noted that the ISIL commanders most probably have secrets of the US Army troops with them.

In a relevant development last month, a source close to Kurdish forces said that the US Army was taking ISIL's gold treasure that is estimated to weigh around 50 tons from Eastern Syria to America.

SYRIA VOWS TO ATTACK ISRAEL UNLESS IT WITHDRAWS FROM THE GOLAN HEIGHTS

Syria vowed to attack Israel unless it withdraws from the Golan Heights, World Israel News reported on Thursday.

Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad submitted an official warning to the head of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO) Kristin Lund, in what seemed to be an attempt to prevent official US recognition of Israeli sovereignty in the Golan.

Blue and White party politicians Gabi Ashkenazi, Yair Lapid, Benny Gantz and Moshe Ya'alon visited the Golan Heights on Monday and vowed never to give it up.

"We will increase the numbers of residents in the Golan, sending a resounding message to all - we will never relinquish the Golan Heights," Gantz said.

Syria Notifies Israel It Will Attack If IDF Doesn't Leave Golan Heights

In a surprising and provocative ultimatum, Syria has notified Israel through United Nations diplomatic channels that it is prepared to go to war if Israel does not leave the Golan Heights.

Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mikdad reportedly sent the message through the head of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO), Christine Lund, this past week, according to a World Israel News report and later picked up other major Israeli sources, including The Jerusalem Post. “Syria will attack Israel if it does not leave the Golan Heights,” Mikdad told the UN representative.

Swedish ‘Islamophobia Expert’ Turned ISIS Fighter Arrested in Syria

Swedish-Norwegian “Islamophobia” expert turned Islamic State jihadist Michael Skråmos has been arrested by Kurdish forces in Syria, with sources claiming Norway wants to prosecute the extremist.

The 33-year-old, born in Sweden to Norwegian parents, was captured this week in the village of Baghouz in one of the very few remaining areas under any form of Islamic State control, Swedish newspaper Expressen reports.

Skråmo had been one of the hundreds of Islamic State terrorists still fighting Kurdish forces and attempting to defend the village. He was also not the only foreign fighter, with most of the last surviving holdouts being foreigners.

Syria Preparing Its Missiles for Next Battle With Israel

Syria and its allies are preparing their missiles for a forthcoming battle with Israel if Tel Aviv decides to open fire against significant military positions under the control of the Syrian army.

Well informed sources say that “it all depends on the direction the Israeli elections will take. If Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu estimates his chances are high enough to win a second term, then he will not venture any time soon into a new confrontation with Syria and its allies. The date of the next battle will be postponed. But, if he believes he will lose the election, then the possibility of his initiating a battle becomes very high. A serious battle between Israel on one hand and Syria and Iran on the other would be sufficient enough to postpone the elections. Netanyahu doesn’t have many choices: either he wins the election and postpones the corruption court case against him, or he goes to jail”.

Assad’s Tehran Visit Signals Iran’s Victory in Syria

For the first time since war broke out in Syria in 2011, Syrian President Bashar Al Assad has travelled to Iran to meet Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

President Assad had only travelled outside of Syria on two other occasions during the war – both times to Russia.

The significance of the trip cannot be understated – it was a message sent to those who orchestrated the proxy war against Syria that Damascus has prevailed and instead of driving a wedge between it and its allies in Moscow and Tehran – it has only drawn these regional powers closer together.

Russian OPCW Mission Holds Presser on Chemical Weapons in Syria

Alexander Shulgin, Russia's permanent representative to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), is holding a press conference on "Chemical weapons in Syria" in The Hague.

No traces of the use of neuroparalytic phosphorus-organic agents have been found in Douma, Deputy Chief of Russia’s NBC protection troops Sergei Kikot stated during the conference.

Earlier this year, the organisation sent a fact-finding mission (FFM) to Syria in order to gather information on an alleged chemical weapons attack in Aleppo that occurred in November, reportedly injuring at least 46 people.

At the same time, Moscow has accused the Western-backed White Helmets of carrying out provocations in the region and collaborating with jihadists.

Whose Interests Are Served by the US Occupation of East Syria: America's or Israel's?

The location of these bases is unimportant, what is important is that there has been no indication that Washington has any plan to close these bases down or to withdraw American troops. In fact, as the New York Times reported just weeks ago, the number of US troops has actually increased by roughly 1,000 since Trump made his withdrawal announcement in mid-December. We think that is especially significant in view of Trump’s surprising comments last week, that he now agrees “100%” with maintaining a military presence in Syria. His sudden reversal shows that the opponents of the “withdrawal plan” have prevailed and the US is not going to leave Syria after all. It’s also worth noting that Trump administration has made no effort to implement the “Manbij Roadmap” which requires the US to coordinate its withdrawal with the Turkish military in order to maintain security and avoid a vacuum that could be filled by hostile elements.

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – MARCH 9-11, 2019: SYRIAN ARMY HUNTS DOWN ISIS CELLS IN DESERT

3 US service members were killed in an ISIS suicide bomber attack on a joint convoy of the US-led coalition and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) near Manbij in northern Syria on March 9, the ISIS-linked news agency Amaq claimed.

A suicide vehicle-borne improvised explosive device reportedly exploded near the convoy on a road in the outskirt of the town.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) also reported that the suicide bomber targeted two vehicles of US and SDF forces, but said that only two SDF fighters were injured in the attack.

Less than two months ago, an ISIS suicide bomber blew himself inside a restaurant in Manbij town center killing four US personnel. This was the biggest casualty of the coalition since the beginning of its operation in Syria.

The US-led coalition and the SDF have not commented on the March 9 incident yet. Both sides avoid reporting such attacks, unless US personnel are injured or killed.

US Commanders Once Again Warn Syria, Iraq at Risk of Daesh Resurgence

As Daesh loses its final sliver of territory in Syria, US and Iraqi leaders are warning the militant group isn’t gone for good, and some think tanks are warning that the group could reemerge powerfully in Iraq. Those dangers, however, seem nearly as overblown as those the Pentagon is employing to keep US troops in Syria.

Outside the town of al-Baghuz Fawqani, the US-allied Syrian Democratic Forces, composed primarily of Syrian Kurdish militias, have captured hundreds of Daesh militants fleeing from the onslaught. Baghuz is only a couple of miles from the Syrian border with Iraq, across which the roughly 2,000 US forces in Syria will soon withdraw as the war draws to a close.

Report: Female Palestinian refugees repeatedly raped in Syria prisons

Families of female Palestinian prisoners in Syrian jails have said that their daughters were repeatedly raped and severely tortured, but their plight is being ignored.

According to the Task Group for Palestinians in Syria, the families sent a message to international bodies and rights groups criticising the negligence surrounding the issue, Shehab reported yesterday.

The Task Group – which received a copy of the message – said that the families called for international bodies and rights groups to work towards stopping torture and violations inflicted on their daughters inside Syrian intelligence services prisons, as well as to do their best to release them.

Ex-female prisoners have said that they were subject to “all form of torture inside Syrian prisons, including electrocution, hanging, being beaten with iron poles and whips, as well as being repeatedly raped by their jailers”.

Abu Khalid al-Shami threatened that the SAA and Russian forces with “long dark nights” and “black days stained with blood.”

This statement came in response to a recent resumption of SAA strikes on terror infrastructure of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and its allies in the province.

An acute humanitarian crisis is developing in the Rukban refugee camp, which is located near the US military garrison in al-Tanf. On March 5, the Russian Defense Ministry released satellite images showing the real living conditions in the camp.

Thus, what was supposed to be a morale-boosting quickie regime-change operation to cheer up the rank and file on the road to Tehran – the overthrow of Nicolas Maduro’s sanctions-starved socialist state in Venezuela, the oil-rich fly in the ointment of “our own backyard” – has become just another entry on a long list of ignominious failures. Even the truest of true believers can no longer pretend that the US is in the business of spreading democracy – not when all the evidence and information available points the other way. Turkey says to conduct joint raid with Iran against PKK

Turkey says it is planning to carry out a joint attack with Iran against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militant group, which has waged a three-and-a-half decade armed campaign against Ankara for independence.

"God willing, we will carry out a joint operation against the PKK together with Iran,” Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu told Anadolu news agency Wednesday.

He did not specify which PKK positions were going to be targeted in the planned operation or when the attack would take place. However, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has in the past indicated that he would order the military to attack militant hideouts in Iraq.

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – MARCH 6-7, 2019: ARMY DELIVERS MASSIVE STRIKE ON TERRORIST INFRASTRUCTURE

On March 6, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) delivered a massive rocket strike on positions of the Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP) in Jisr al-Shughur in the northwestern part of Idlib province. This was the first such strike in this area in five months.

The strike reportedly came in response to the recent increase in militant shelling of government-held areas in northwestern Hama, which has been causing civilian casualties on a regular basis.

Separately, the SAA carried out a rocket strike on the headquarters of Jaysh al-Izza near the town of Khan Shaykhun in southern Idlib. The HQ was fully destroyed and 7 militants, including the group’s prominent field commander Majid al-Said, were eliminated.

Netanyahu: Israeli Navy Could Target Iranian Oil Tankers in International Waters

Since dishonoring the P5+1 nuclear deal, the Trump Administration has made clear their goal is to bring Iranian oil exports to zero through sanctions. That’s wholly impractical, with many nations, including P5+1 deal signatories, saying they intend to keep buying from Iran despite US sanctions.

But Israel does have a navy and a burning desire to pick fights with Iran. In comments Wednesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel’s Navy could soon be ordered to target Iranian oil tankers to prevent them selling oil abroad.

Netanyahu is trying to prevent Iran selling oil to nations like China without American permission as “smuggling,” and potential military attacks on oil tankers in international waters as enforcement of US sanctions. It’s not clear anyone else in the world, the US included, would generally consider that the case.

US shifts weapons from Iraq to Syria

The Pentagon rerouted millions of dollars’ worth of weapons and vehicles from Iraq to Syria in the second half of 2018, Al-Monitor has learned, as US-backed forces cornered the last remnants of the Islamic State (IS).

In a series of notifications to Congress reviewed by Al-Monitor, the Defense Department said it had determined that a bevy of supplies purchased by the Pentagon for the Iraqi military would instead go to the Kurdish-dominated Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The Pentagon sent lawmakers its last reprogramming notification for 2018 on Dec. 31, 12 days after President Donald Trump announced his decision to withdraw US troops from Syria.

The stock of equipment includes nearly 50 Humvees, 20 mine-resistant vehicles, 40 enhanced armament carriers and nearly 700 light anti-tank weapons. The Pentagon also approved the transfer of more than 2,400 mortar rounds, 25 mine rollers and dozens of charges used to destroy mines and other explosives, the letters indicate.

Video: Al Qaeda Strikes Back. Major Escalation in Syria’s Northern Hama

In the morning of March 3, fighters of the al-Qaeda-affiliated group Ansar al-Tawhid carried out a major attack on several positions of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) near the town of Masasneh in northern Hama. A military source told SouthFront that more than 16 SAA soldiers were killed in the attack. 6 Ansar al-Tawhid members were eliminated.

The Ansar al-Tawhid attack was launched from the Idlib demilitarized zone, which had been established under a Russian-Turkish agreement in September 2018. According to the agreement, such groups should not be deployed within the zone and heavy weapons belonging to militants should be withdrawn from the area. However, these terms have never been met.

Both Syrian foreign and defense ministries have commented on the attack by warning that the Damascus government is not going to tolerate terrorists attacking SAA positions and civilians.

Cowardly West too weak to punish its ISIS recruits – so hands dirty work off to Third World justice

By refusing to repatriate citizens who fought for the failed caliphate, France, UK and the US are admitting the impotence of their legal system, and betraying the principles of fair justice on which their societies were built.

Emmanuel Macron has allowed 13 French Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) fighters to be tried in Iraq, the UK government will not take back ‘jihadi bride’ Shamima Begum, an example that was followed by Donald Trump’s administration with New Jersey-born Hoda Muthana, who is set for a lengthy court battle to return from Syria.

US THROWS TERRORISTS FROM SYRIA TO LIBYA

Experts break their heads: where are the terrorists fleeing from Syria?

And here's the answer: to Libya!

In the north of which is rich in natural resources Libyan territory.
Ahead - Europe, the future theater of war of terrorists, in the south - the African continent, where they can always, unfortunately, find bastards for dollars, ready to kill anyone anywhere.

Libya is a huge country at the crossroads of Europe and Africa. The “Sahel belt” of African and Arab countries stretches from Mauritania to Somalia. This is where the American AFRICOM is preparing new ranges for the war.

And the main question asked by the experts: WHO CONTRIBUTES TO THEIR MOVEMENT?

Answer: American and European intelligence services of the NATO alliance. That same "peacekeeping" alliance that bombed the Libyan Jamahiriya in 2011.

And again the questions ...
Who is trying to legalize the Islamic State in Libya?

Who is trying to do this through future elections in Libya?

US Attempting to Prevent Revival of Adana Agreement Between Turkey, Syria

The US is attempting to block efforts to revive the Adana agreement signed between Ankara and Damascus in 1998 days after Turkey did not oppose Moscow’s proposal for deployment of the Russian forces at the bordering areas between Syria and Turkey.

The Arabic-language al-Watan newspaper quoted the UAE’s ‘The National’ as reporting that the administration of US President Donald Trump is after creation of an international force consisting of 2,000 NATO soldiers instead of the safe zone desired by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Northern Syria.

Trump Move on US Troops In Syria Does Not Bode Well For US-Turkey Relations

News recently that President Trump has once again done a U turn on his Syria policy – and will keep US forces in the north with their SDF (mainly Kurdish) allies – couldn’t have been more felt than in Turkey. Trump’s decision to listen to his military advisors and even titans in Congress like Lindsey Graham to keep a contingent of US troops in the north with the SDF and in the south east at Al Tanf is hugely important in that it keeps other allies there – namely France and the UK – on board and retains America’s barrier to Iran taking the east of the country as a key corridor all the way to Lebanon. It also keeps Saudi Arabia and Israel happy who were particularly vexed by the hasty decision which would have dramatically changed the Syria War chequers board.

US Coalition Fires White Phosphorus Shells Into ISIS Village in Eastern Syria

US-led coalition forces have fired white phosphorus shells into the farmland surrounding the ISIS-held village of Baghouz, in eastern Syria. Reports suggest the shelling began overnight.

Syrian state media agency SANA confirmed the attack, saying the US strikes and ensuing fires in the farmland had killed a number of women and children who were trying to flee Baghouz.

The US has yet to comment on the matter. The use of white phosphorus is legally problematic under international law. It is technically allowed for illumination purposes, but are prohibited for use near civilians, or for attacks on forces co-located with civilians, which the village of Baghouz certainly is.

The timing is likely to fuel some questions as well, as the use of the WP comes amid claims by President Trump that ISIS has already been 100% defeated. This makes the point of further attacks around Baghouz unclear.

US denies Russia-protected buses access to Syria's Rukban camp to evacuate refugees – Russian MoD

The US has rejected a joint request by Moscow and Damascus to let them evacuate the refugees stranded in the Rukban camp within the US-controlled zone in Syria to areas under Damascus' control, the Russian military said.

The first column of buses accompanied by Russian military police set off for the camp on Friday. They were supposed to enter through one of the two mobile checkpoints opened by the Russian and Syrian forces last month and ferry the refugees to other parts of Syria for permanent resettlement.

However, the planned operation was apparently aborted after the US military, which controls the 55km area around the US military base at Al-Tanf, which also includes Rukban camp, refused to grant permission for the buses to proceed, Sergey Solomatin, head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Warring Parties in Syria, said on Saturday.

Moscow, Damascus Kick Off Rukban Refugees Evacuation to Prevent 'Catastrophe'

Russia and Syria have sent bus convoys to the Rukban refugee camp to evacuate people seeking to leave the US-controlled territory, with no response received from the United States to guarantee the safety of the operation, head of the Russian Center for Syrian Reconciliation Lt. "In accordance with the 1 March decision made at the meeting of the Russian-Syrian Joint Coordination Committee for the return of refugees, in order to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe in the Rukban refugee camp, bus convoys were formed and sent to the Jleb checkpoint for the voluntary and unhindered return of Rukban camp residents from at-Tanf to the places of their permanent residence", Solomatin said.

US forces responsible for humanitarian crisis at Rukban refugee camp: Syria

A Syrian official has held US military forces and their allied militants responsible for the humanitarian crisis affecting thousands of internally displaced people at a refugee camp near the Jordan-Syria border, saying American troops are preventing residents from leaving the site toward government-controlled areas.

“The responsibility for the humanitarian crisis of our people at al-Rukban camp falls solely on US occupation forces and their stooges, as they have been preventing civilians’ departure by means of force and threats. This is while safe corridors have been opened for those who are willing to leave the camp,” the unnamed official at the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates was quoted by official SANA news agency as saying on Thursday.

He stressed that the Damascus government is prepared to take responsibility for securing a safe and decent return of displaced people to their hometowns.

KALASHNIKOV KAMIKAZE DRONE ‘KUB-BLA’ ALREADY BATTLE-TESTED IN SYRIA

A Russian defense contractor, Kalashnikov Concern, named after one of the most famous small-arms designers of all time, is now producing kamikaze drones designed to destroy remote ground targets.

The “high-precision unmanned aerial system” KUB-BLA was for the first time showcased at the International Exhibition of Arms and Military Equipment 2019 in Abu Dhabi. The drone delivers an explosive charge on the coordinates of the target, which are set manually or can be acquired automatically by uploading image of the target into the guidance system.

The KUB-BLA has a 3-kilogram payload, a flying time of 30 minutes, and a 80-130-kilometer-per-hour speed. It measures 1210mm wide by 950mm long and 165mm high. Typically, the payload is apparently a high-explosive charge. Kalashnikov Concern says that the advantages of the system are “hidden launch, high accuracy of the shot, noiselessness and ease of handling”.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There are many reasons for those in the bowels of power in DC , to eschew any kind of war with Russia right now, and this is one of them.

The US weaponry community has been chronically "coming up short", because of the "pork barrel relationships" of politicians with arms makers, contributing to their campaigns, both overtly and covertly, and this translates into a "knowledge and information gap" in Congress, meaning politicians in the US not asking the hard questions about weapons deliveries; weapons capabilities; and weapons costs.

That toxic lack of candid communications between those who allocate the funds, and those who make the weapons upon which the US military relies, has put this country behind the proverbial 8-ball, relative to Russia and China; that has to stop, and right the hell now.

To those who have been reading WRH for some time, you understand that I hate war as a means with which the US frequently resolves its geopolitical differences; having said that, however, when our military needs the best, most intelligently thought out, and future-looking weapons, they should have them, and our weapons manufacturers need to be making sure that they do; otherwise, they should not be allowed to bid for any future weapons contracts, period, end of discussion.
