VA Sending Veterans’ Mental Health Information to FBI to Restrict Gun Ownership

Patrick Howley of the Daily Caller has written that mental health information collected by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is being transferred to the FBI so patients can be added to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) list of individuals restricted from owning or possessing guns.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So the government sends kids into wars to "protect our rights", then declares the stress they suffered from that war grounds to deny those very same soldiers their Second Amendment rights. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense!

The real agenda is to disarm the veterans since they are an already-trained segment of the population the government fears may be a problem in the event of an uprising.

‘Dying, but won’t surrender’: Brest Fortress resists the Blitzkrieg

The doomed defenders of Brest Fortress, caught unprepared, outmanned and outgunned, held their bastion for over a week. The showcase of courage and sacrifice became the first serious engagement on the Eastern Front setting a blueprint for the entire war.

As the Germans rapidly crossed into Belarus on June 22, 1941, the border garrison was caught unaware under heavy artillery shelling. In a matter of hours, just under 10,000 Soviet troops were encircled by the Germans guns, and outnumbered, with no communication lines and no order to withdraw coming from the center.

Jeb Bush: ‘Our enemies need to fear us again’

At the South Carolina Republican convention, Jeb Bush, the former Florida governor, called the president’s international stewardship “an unmitigated disaster. Former Pennsylvania Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina called the president “feckless” on the world stage. And Graham and Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas echoed each other as they accused Obama of “leading from behind.”

All five pledged loyalty to Israel and expressed varying levels of disdain for Iran.

US Wars Kill Mostly Civilians

Post-9/11 alone, millions of civilians perished in US direct and proxy wars. They were either in harm's way, deliberately targeted, or perished from war related violence, preventable diseases or deprivation.

Washington, like Israel, considers noncombatant civilians legitimate targets. International law calls killing them a war crime.

Planning Chaos in the Middle East: Destruction of Societies for Foreign Money Control

If one wonders how a desert-crawling line of Japanese open-back trucks gifted by the US filled with countless irregular fighters in plain view could ever have ever made it overnight to the point where Western military and political leaders are saying “the war against ISIL may be interminable”, one begins to see through the game. ISIL is a construction financed and trained by covert US and oil-king allies that ruins every place it enters, like Syria once the regime began to win the civil war. Al-Nusra/Al Qaeda was not enough. ISIL is a step up in the US-led control of the Middle East by terror, chaos and social devastation. “The Salvador option” was the first name for the post-war death squads in Iraq, but “Islamic State” stirs much more apocalyptic passions pro and con. Best of all, the ruling foreign war machines of the US, Israel, Saudi Arabia and NATO are now far better justified to “fight the barbaric terrorists”. Saudi Arabia with US support is now even projecting the “terrorist” and sectarian “Shiite” labels on the popular uprising of the poor in Yemen against a corrupt US-Saudi puppet government. One object alone is achieved. Peoples and resources of the region can be predated without sovereign social defences or unity of collective life purpose, the ultimate target of every US-led aggression. As long as all evils can be blamed on an ever-shifting Enemy, there is no overcoming recognition.

Clawson proudly and publicly proclaimed at a Washington Institute event in 2012:

US wants control of Iran’s natural resources: American writer

The longstanding American and Western aggression against Iran is aimed at taking control of Tehran’s wealth and natural resources, a writer and researcher in Florida says.

Some Republican lawmakers in Congress are aggressively trying to forestall a nuclear agreement that can potentially bring peace instead of bloodshed between Iran and the West, said Walt Peretto.

“There is an underlying agenda here of aggression by the United States and other Western nations in the name of those interests who wish to take de facto control over Iran's money supply and natural resources,” Peretto told Press TV on Friday.

US Republican Senators Tom Cotton and Marco Rubio are attempting to toughen a bill with amendments including adding a requirement that Iran recognize Israel as an independent state as part of any potential nuclear agreement.

Islamic State crisis: US-led Syria strikes 'kill dozens of civilians'
Air strikes by the US-led coalition targeting Islamic State militants have killed more than 50 civilians in northern Syria, activists say.

Earlier this month, the Observatory said the US-led air campaign had killed more than 2,000 people in total, including at least 1,922 IS fighters.

Seven children were killed, and 13 people were still unaccounted for, the group said.

Is Merkel an asset for American intelligence, serving the geopolitical interests of Washington rather than the good of her own nation, or the wider good of Europe?

The claims that Merkel’s government knew about German state intelligence spying on behalf of the Americans against the country’s own industrial interests raise disturbing questions about the integrity of German government leaders.

The apparent betrayal of German national interests by Chancellor Angela Merkel is not only evident over the recent industrial spying scandal on behalf of America, the slavish pursuit by Merkel of Washington’s anti-Russian policy over Ukraine — in contradistinction to her country’s national interests — also cogently suggests that the chancellor is serving a foreign master.

U.S. Navy escorting American ships in Strait of Hormuz amid Iran tension

The Pentagon is asking Congress to approve the purchase from Russia already ordered the RD-180

The U.S. Department of defense requests the U.S. Congress to authorize the purchase of the RD-180 from Russia, which is already booked in 2014 but not paid for in full at the time, said Deborah Lee James.
She urged members of Congress to approve proposed by the Pentagon an amendment to a previously adopted law, which prohibits the air force to use the RD-180 from 2019. In its present form, this law carries the risk that "we will not be able to achieve the intended objective, namely to 2018" to begin to sign contracts for orbital launches using the new American engine, which will be set instead of the RD-180, recognized James, speaking at the hearings before the Committee on armed services of the Senate of the Congress.
At the same time she stressed that the Pentagon agrees with the legislators: "We should (in the future) to abandon the use of Russian rocket engines RD-180.

America’s Police Will Fight the Next Riot With These Stink Bombs

As protesters and police officers clash on the streets of divided cities such as Baltimore, Maryland, and Ferguson, Missouri, some police departments are stockpiling a highly controversial weapon to control civil unrest.

It’s called Skunk, a type of “malodorant,” or in plainer language, a foul-smelling liquid. Technically nontoxic but incredibly disgusting, it has been described as a cross between “dead animal and human excrement.” Untreated, the smell lingers for weeks.

The Israeli Defense Forces developed Skunk in 2008 as a crowd-control weapon for use against Palestinians. Now Mistral, a company out of Bethesda, Maryland, is providing it to police departments in the United States, including the Ferguson PD.

Webmaster's Commentary:

JUST great: instead of dealing with the situations which led to the protests in first place (like police brutality, which is a national embarrassment here in the US), police departments are going to control crowds with stink bombs developed to be used by Israelis against Palestinians; and then to address any issues the Palestinian people have with them constructively.

“Abusive” CIA Manager Removed for Creating “Hostile Work Environment” Now Promoted to Lead Role in Drone Program

When I came across this story I’ll admit my first thought was, just how “abusive” does a person have to be and what exactly does it take to create a “hostile work environment” at the CIA of all places?

Jonathan Bank, a man who was reportedly removed from his position as head of the Iran operations division at CIA headquarters due to abusive leadership practices which led to a hostile working environment for his underlings has now not only been reinstated at the agency, but given a position as deputy chief for counterintelligence at the Counter Terrorism Center (CTC).

House Republicans Want To Block Predatory Lending Protections For American Troops

House Republicans are pushing legislation to block predatory lending protections for American soldiers, under pressure from the banking lobby.

GOP lawmakers tucked the deregulation item into the National Defense Authorization Act -- a major bill setting the military's funding, along with a number of other controversial terms on Guantanamo Bay and other issues. If the banking item is enacted, it would impose a one-year delay on new Department of Defense rules meant to shield military families from abusive terms on payday loans and other forms of high-interest credit. The bill is being considered Wednesday before the House Armed Services Committee.

Missile Defense Agency Spent $10 Billion on 4 Projects that were Cancelled

The Department of Defense started, then discarded, four massive missile defense projects, wasting $10 billion on technology that wasn’t capable of protecting the United States from foreign attack.

An investigation by the Los Angeles Times identified four programs developed by the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) that did not work as advertised:

The Sea-Based X-Band Radar (SBX), an enormous floating radar ship, was supposed to be able to detect even tiny incoming objects into U.S. airspace from thousands of miles away. SBX, built by Boeing and Raytheon, was going to guide rocket interceptors to enemy ballistic missiles before they could reach U.S. soil. But after a $2.2 billion investment, MDA realized SBX couldn’t distinguish between missiles and decoys. The technology has been mothballed at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.

The Air Force will send some perfectly fine fighter jets to the boneyard or delay its F-35 Lightning II rollout for a year if Congress blocks retirement of the A-10 Thunderbolt, according to a document recently provided to military oversight committees.

The tradeoffs would occur at Hill Air Force Base in Utah, due to limited number of personnel to maintain the A-10s, F-16 Fighting Falcons and the first advanced F-35 joint strike fighters slated to arrive later this year, the service told lawmakers.

How Long Would the US Navy Survive in a Shooting War?

Back in the 70s, Admiral Rickover, the “father of nuclear navy,” had to answer the question before the U.S. Senate: “How long would our aircraft carriers survive in a battle against the Russian Navy?” His response caused disillusionment: “Two or three days before they sink, maybe a week if they stay in the harbor.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

The actual weakness of our naval forces was hammered home by two recent incidents. The first involved the USS Donald Cook, an Aegis ship, which in theory can detect, track, and engage 90 aerial targets simultaneously, which was totally paralyzed by the electronic warfare systems of a single Russian aircraft. The Aegis system is the main air-defense system for a carrier battle group. If it is not working, missiles will find their main target; the carrier itself. As a side note, another Aegis ship, the USS Chancellorsville, was put out of commission for six months and suffered $30 million in damage when struck by one of its own drones!

The second incident happened during war games in the Atlantic in which the French submarine Saphir successfully penetrated a carrier battle group centered on the USS Theodore Roosevelt and succeeded in "sinking" not only the carrier but several of the screening ships without being detected, not even by the Los Angeles class attack sub that was part of the defensive screen. Coupled with the known problems with the Independence class Littoral combat ships, the F-22, the F-35, etc. it is clear that US weapons are visually impressive, very expensive, and as hopelessly out of touch with the reality of war in the 21st century as traditional battleships were in WW2.

Finnish military fires depth charges at suspected submarine

The Finnish military fired on Tuesday handheld underwater depth charges as a warning against a suspected submarine in waters near Helsinki, an incident that comes amid growing military tensions with neighboring Russia.

The navy said it noticed an underwater target on Monday and again on Tuesday morning and fired some warning charges - the size of grenades.

Finland, which shares an 833 mile (1,340 km) border with Russia, has been increasingly worried about its powerful neighbor after a year of Russian air force sorties and military border exercises.

Embracing the Saudi War on Yemen

Saudis have been helped by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who has relied on the powerful Israel Lobby and his own rhetoric to divert the U.S. Congress from a focus on Al-Qaeda and its hyper-brutal spinoff, the Islamic State, to Iran, which both Saudi Arabia and Israel have designated their primary regional enemy.

Fearful of further offending the powerful Saudi-Israeli alliance, President Obama is deploying the U.S. Navy to seal off poverty-stricken Yemen so the Saudi air force has free rein to pummel its regional rivals from the air while the population faces a humanitarian crisis on the ground, reports Robert Parry.

The Message of Anzac: Put Out More Flags, or Shut Up

Ray loathed warmongering and would approve of my second hero. This is Scott McIntyre, a young SBS soccer journalist who, in four now famous Tweets, set out to counter the authoritarian sludge that demands that Australians celebrate the centenary of a criminal waste of life in the British imperial invasion of Turkey a century ago — in which Australians and New Zealanders, the “Anzacs”, took part — rather than recognise unpalatable truths about the past and present.

Opportunistic politicians and journalists have turned this melancholy event into a death cult that puzzles foreigners. Federal governments have spent almost $400 million promoting it as a fake patriotism – more than Britain, France, Germany and Canada combined: countries that lost many more men in the 1914-18 bloodfest. Today, the military and venal militarism are virtually off-limits for real public criticism.

Why? Australia, a nation without enemies, is now spending $28billion a year on the military and war and armaments in order to fulfil a tragic, entirely colonial and obsequious role, now as Washington’s “deputy sheriff” in the Asia-Pacific.

To bolster is bargaining position, the Pentagon is undertaking some large scale moves against China. Pentagon sources say last week’s earthquake in Nepal was generated using high energy electronic waves. The aim was to send a message to both China and India prior to US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter’s planned trip to India next month, the sources say. The basic message was “only the Pentagon can defend India against China.”
