Turkish parliament readying bill to allow sending troops to Libya

ANKARA (Reuters) - Turkey may need to draft a bill to allow for troop deployment to Libya and its parliament is working on the issue, Presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said on Tuesday, after Ankara signed a military cooperation agreement with Tripoli last month.

“There might be a need for an authorisation in line with the developments over there. The parliament is conducting work on this issue,” Kalin told a news conference in Ankara.

“We will continue to support the internationally recognised Libyan government. This support may be in terms of military training, or other areas, such as political support,” Kalin said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder just what Erdogan's ploy may be here; possibly to revitalize a very fractious relationship with NATO, which appears to be fraying at the edges, and rapidly?!?

Mercenaries flock to Libya raising fears of prolonged war

A new wave of mercenaries from Sudan is fighting in Libya, deepening concerns that the conflict in the north African state has descended into an intractable international war that could destabilise much of the region.

Leaders of two different groups of Sudanese fighters active in Libya have told the Guardian that they had received hundreds of new recruits in recent months. Both groups were fighting with the Libyan National Army (LNA) led by General Khalifa Haftar against the internationally recognised government in Tripoli.

“A lot of young men [are coming] … we even do not have the capacity to accommodate these big numbers,” said one commander who is based in the south of Libya.

The commanders said that there are at least 3,000 Sudanese mercenaries now fighting in Libya, significantly more than most previous estimates.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Cheese Louise, Guardian, playing fast and loose with the facts yet again?!?

Jason Burke and Zeinab Mohammed Salih, are you two collectively suffering from a lousy case of SMD (Selective Memory Disorder), as this article appears to reflect?!?

Well, gentlemen, as just a little bit of fact checking would have saved you from the embarrassment of getting Gaddafi's assassination so completely wrong, here is the truth of what led to Gaddafi's assassination, and I will assure you that the folks here got it correctly.

Hillary’s War Crime: The Murder of Muammar Gaddafi. “We Came, we Saw, he Died.”

The article goes on to state: "Gaddafi’s independence from Washington is what brought him down. Earlier in life Gaddafi’s goal was to organize Arabs as a bloc that could withstand Western depredations. Frustrated, he turned to Pan-Africanism and refused to join the US Africa Command. He wanted to introduce a gold-based African currency that would free Africans from American financial hegemony.

Washington organized mercenaries, termed them “rebels” as in Syria, and sicced them on Libya. When it became clear that Gaddafi’s forces would prevail, Washington tricked naive and gullible Russian and Chinese governments and secured a UN no-fly zone over Libya to be enforced by NATO. The express purpose of the no-fly zone was to prevent Gaddafi from attacking civilian targets, which he was not doing. The real reason was to prevent a sovereign state from using its own air space so that the Libyan Air Force could not support the troops on the ground. Once the gullible Russians and Chinese failed to veto the Security Council’s action, the US and NATO themselves violated the resolution by using Western air power to attack Gaddafi’s forces, thus throwing the conflict to the CIA-organized mercenaries. Gaddafi was captured and brutally murdered.

Ever since, Libya, formerly a prosperous and successful society, has been in chaos, which is where the Obama regime wanted it.

All sorts of lies were told about Gaddafi and Libya, just as lies were told about Saddam Hussein and are told today about Syria and Russia. A British Parliamentary Report concluded unambiguously that the Western peoples were fed lies by their governments in order to gain acceptance for the destruction of Libya, and that Libya was destroyed because Gaddafi was regarded as an obstacle to Western hegemony."

But there was a further reality for which Gaddafi was assassinated, and this article also comes from globalresearch.ca:

Hillary Emils Reveal that NATGO killed Gaddafi to stop Libyan Creation of a Gold-Backed Currency

First published on June 13, 2017

Hillary’s emails truly are the gifts that keep on giving. While France led the proponents of the UN Security Council Resolution that would create a no-fly zone in Libya, it claimed that its primary concern was the protection of Libyan civilians (considering the current state of affairs alone, one must rethink the authenticity of this concern). As many “conspiracy theorists” will claim, one of the real reasons to go to Libya was Gaddafi’s planned gold dinar.

One of the 3,000 Hillary Clinton emails released by the State Department on New Year’s Eve (where real news is sent to die quietly) has revealed evidence that NATO’s plot to overthrow Gaddafi was fueled by first their desire to quash the gold-backed African currency, and second the Libyan oil reserves.

The email in question was sent to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by her unofficial adviser Sydney Blumenthal titled “France’s client and Qaddafi’s gold”.

So gentlemen who so studiously avoided the real reasons for Gaddafi's death; if I am able to access this information, why were you unable to do this?!?

Or did you just not want to go there?!?

I would politely suggest that the later better reflects the truth.

Saudi Artillery Strikes Kill 17 at Yemen Border Market

Cross-border shelling by Saudi Arabian forces against a popular marketplace on the Yemeni side of the border killed at least 17 people, according to locals. Indications are that everyone killed was a civilian, and the Saudis have not commented on why they attacked.

The sources said 12 Ethiopian migrants were among those killed in Yemen, and that 15 people were wounded and taken to hospitals for treatment. The market has been attacked several times by Saudi forces.

The market doesn’t seem to have any military significance, but it is in Saada Province, which is the main province of the Houthi movement. This seems to be reason enough for the Saudis to regularly attack them.

Webmaster's Commentary:

When I was a kid in public school, I never imagined, in my wildest dreams, that the US was anything but the "good guy" in its dealings with other countries.

Then came the insanity of the Vietnam War, and that.... was an industrial-strength wake-up call that challenged my former evaluation of the US government's actions internationally forever.

Fast forward to the Trump Administration, and here is what we see; the US government, in collusion with Saudi Arabian government in their war crimes, to bomb Yemen to back beyond the stone age; military interventions in countries around the world, in order to expropriate their resources, to which we have no moral right; and threatening the awakening economic and military powerhouses of Russia and China with a shooting war, because it's just great for the US military/industrial complex.

I have a friend who once confided that she believed we were actually living through the "End Times" of Biblical prophecy; and looking at the pathological inability from the US government to do something remotely intelligent, as in learning from its mistakes over the decades, I have to wonder if she doesn't have a valid point here.

Israel says filing error to blame for strike that killed nine members of al-Sawarka familyIsraeli army says the home of the Palestinian family was not a military compound as it was previously categorised

In November, Israel conducted a series of air strikes on the Gaza Strip after it assassinated a senior Islamic Jihad commander and his wife.

The Palestinian armed group retaliated to the assassination by launching a barrage of rockets into Israel, before the two parties agreed on a ceasefire following joint Egyptian and UN mediation.

‘All that’s left are their school uniforms’: Israeli air strike kills eight Palestinian relatives
Read More »
During the two days of air strikes, at least 34 Palestinians were reported killed and more than 100 wounded.

No Israelis were killed during the same time period.

The deadliest of these attacks was carried out on the home of the al-Sawarka family, killing eight members of the family, including children.

A week after the strike, a ninth member of the family, Mohammed al-Sawarka, died from injuries sustained in the bombing.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This was no "computer error"; this was "genocide by increments", wiping out a few Palestinian families, and their children.

It is a favorite tactic of the IDF, who, after the slaughter, say, "Geewhiz, gang, our bad! It was a clerical error which caused the slaughter of these innocent families, really, you have to believe us, honest, it was just a mistake!"

This is why the peaceful, non-violent course of BDS is the right, and moral course, for the rest of the world to follow against Israel for these horrific assassinations; Most Israelis speak Hebrew, and some may speak some English; but all Israelis are very bi-lingual when it comes to economics.

US Defense Secretary Eyes Pullout From West AfricaRedeployment from region would be first in moves aimed at Russia and China

US Defense Secretary Mark Esper is interested in seeing a substantial reduction in troops and operations ongoing in Western Africa, with the troops being redeployed to areas closer to Russia and China.

This comes, ironically, amid speculation about the Islamist factions in the Sahel, and suggestions this might be a growing priority for the US. Esper, however, has made much of wanting to have more troops directly lined up against Russia and China for “Great Power” competitions.

Among the pullouts in West Africa would be ending US operations in Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso. The end of US involvement in Niger would include abandoning the $110 million drone base that the US just got finished building and bringing into operation.

After West Africa, the plan is that the US will also draw down forces in Latin America, and subsequently then cut troop levels in Iraq and Afghanistan, all as part of a new pivot to Eastern Europe and the Pacific.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is madness, writ large, represented to the American people as logical foreign policy; But to me, however, this "repositioning" of American troops, ever closer to Russia and China, is just a couple of steps short of creating a situation where we will be dealing with a shooting war with Russia and/or China.

I looked at Esper's background, both personal and professional, to find a motive for this, to see if he, like Secretary of State Pompeo, was someone with a personal belief in a the Rapture; it is not, but there us another avenue of Esper's background which suddenly caused his thought process come completely into focus.

In an article from rollingstone.com, we have the following made clear;
Trump’s Pick for Defense Secretary Is as Swampy as You’d ExpectThe article goes on to state: "The president officially conferred the nomination to Esper on Monday. The following day, Esper testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee, where another entry on his resume was pulled into the spotlight: the seven years he spent as the top lobbyist for Raytheon, the defense contractor that does billions of dollars of business with the government every year."

When it comes to these contracts, there is nothing like a "former lobbyist" in a position to do a corporation good, as is Esper, in his current position as Secretary of Defense.

This makes his "vision" (and his "logic") crystal clear, to anyone who is paying attention. The issues of him wanting perhaps to get as close to war as possible, eating up billions of Defense Department dollars, without actually going to war, can then be seen in its proper perspective.

The USMCA, Virginia & Possible Deployment Of UN Troops Against Gun Owners

Just remember Trump pushed the USMCA which is nothing more than UN Agenda 21/30 in new clothes.

As the situation in Virginia continues to escalate the possibility that they are deliberately trying to lure patriots into committing acts of violence must be considered. It is the Hegelian dialectic at play ? create the problem by criminalizing legal gun owners, provoke the reaction and offer the solution. The final solution is, the merging of the United States into a one world order headed by the United Nations. As crazy as that sounds the groundwork for such a merger is well established as the United States committed itself to United Nation objectives with the signing of the United Nations Participation Act in 1945.

THIS IS AMERICA: 10 EXAMPLES THAT SHOW HOW DRAMATICALLY THE U.S. HAS CHANGED AS WE APPROACH 2020

SOURCE: MICHAEL SNYDER, GUEST POST
One thing that you can count on in life is that things are going to change. And these days the pace of change in America is absolutely breathtaking. Our culture is in the process of being radically transformed, and the direction of that change has not altered very much at all no matter which political party has been in power in Washington. Many of the values that are now embraced by a solid majority of the population run directly counter to the values that once dominated our society, but only a small minority of Americans seem alarmed by that fact. It appears to be exceedingly unlikely that there will be any deviating from the path that our nation has chosen, because at this point the American people seem quite satisfied with the dramatic “progress” that is taking place.

So what do you think?

Are we on the right track as a nation?

Webmaster's Commentary:

My short answer to this question about "Are we on the right track as a nation?" would be a resounding "HELL, NO!!!!!!!

And the primary (but governing) reason is the following; pro-peace, national candidates from both parties will never see daylight as President or Vice President, because their pro-peace stances will translate into billions lost by the military industrial complex; so our alleged "choices" for President and Vice President are orchestrated by this lewd tango between the military industrial complex and the US deep state, both of which have nearly never seen a potential war, or potential regime change they didn't just love, no matter the horrific costs to our men and women in uniform.

The paupacity of true education and true understanding in this country, is embarrassingly amazing, but it is done purposely: programs like Common Core, are enabled to keep people from thinking, and using their God-given common sense.

Because when people are numerate; literate; and capable of true critical thinking, that huge ooze of codswallop we are supposed to swallow whole, courtesy of the corporate Presstitutes whose almost every word is dictated by this country's deep state, to support a war-centric agenda, very much falls apart, under even the most casual scrutiny.

This leaves US citizens easily confused, and torn apart to the point where we cannot even talk about political issues without that devolving into a real shouting match, in many families and friendships.

A house divided against itself cannot stand; so while we are distracted by every single, possible distraction, including those provided by our media, and arguing among ourselves, the US Deep State and military industrial complex provides us with enemies du jour, and wars we, of course, MUST fight to "contain (fill in country's name here) that country's alleged "aggression" against us.

So here is the process; regime change any governments not to the US government's liking; install a puppet regime which will enable US-centric multinational companies, to come in and expropriate that country's natural resources, to which this government, and these corporations have no moral right; ; and only sell those resources in US dollars.

Follow the money; follow the resources, and it is pretty easy to see how this happens, and is happening seemingly endlessly, on the part of this government.

What do we need to do to change this?!?

First, we need to have a peaceful, reasonable, and national conversation about these endless wars, and why our military is fighting in them in the first place.

The first of these which comes to my mind, is our governments'partnering in war crimes and the biggest humanitarian disaster in recent history in Yemen, by supporting Saudi Arabia against the Houthi rebels here. Every single rational article I have read about this conflict, indicates that it has to be resolved not by more bullets and bloodshed, but by moral, intelligent, and hard-won negotiations.

So we have to ask our leadership; is there no other way than wars with which to obtain those geopolitical concessions which the US seeks from other countries?!? I am convinced that there is; but there has to be a will in the Bowels of Power in DC, to make that happen, which currently does not exist.

I want to see this country go back to hand-written ballots which cannot be electronically altered.

I want to see a "none of the above" on every Presidential ballot, so ultimately, We the People will have actual choices on candidates, not candidates "pre-digested" by the military industrial complex, and the US Deep State.

And finally, I would like to see an amendment to the Constitution, stipulating that any national candidate who wins the Presidency, Vice-Presidency, or Congressional race, must have their kids enlisting in the military, if they are of appropriate age, and must be trained with combat units most likely to see action on the front lines of whatever war the US government has decided we are fighting.

Now, I understand, as well as a grown person, that such an amendment might only happen when pigs discover that they are aerodynamic; that being said, however, I wouldn't bet against such an Amendment slowing down the US Government's lust for wars, when the people ordering those wars understand that it most probably will be their kids who may well die in the first stages of those wars.

Can China Dethrone The US Dollar As Global Reserve

As a result of this ‘trade war’ China has let the yuan slide versus the USD which is a warning to Trump, specifically Mnuchin, popularly known as one of the most slippery dealers (IndyMAC and One West) to ever walk the earth (and China knows that). China is hoping that a lower yuan will offset tariffs just as the US has ‘weaponized’ the dollar and has imposed sanctions and tariffs on China. Because the sums are so vast with China holding so much US debt, and because China depends on exports to the west, China is somewhat boxed in.

The Christmas Truce Of WWI Paused The Murderous Demands Of The State

As December waxed, the combat ardor of the frontline troops waned. With Christmas approaching, the scattered and infrequent gestures of goodwill across enemy lines increased. About a week before Christmas, German troops near Armentieres slipped a “splendid” chocolate cake across the lines to their British counterparts. Attached to that delectable peace offering was a remarkable invitation:

We propose having a concert tonight as it is our Captain’s birthday, and we cordially invite you to attend – provided you will give us your word of honor as guests that you agree to cease hostilities between 7:30 and 8:30…. When you see us light the candles and footlights at the edge of our trench at 7:30 sharp you can safely put your heads above your trenches, and we shall do the same, and begin the concert.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is a terribly under-reported episode of World War I, but one which needs to be examined and cherished, because of the human decency these soldiers shared with one another, even though they were allegedly "sworn enemies".

Turkey Can't Handle New Refugee Explosion & Greece Will Be First To Feel Impact: Erdogan

At a moment Erdogan has his hands dirty in Syria and is preparing to get more militarily involved in Libya, Turkey's president has yet again threatened Europe with a refugee horde so large no country will be able to handle it. He's now specifically threatened Greece as being among the first to bear the brunt of the first waves of refugees unleashed by Turkey.

His threats are now centering on the major uptick in airstrikes by Russia and Syria on Idlib province, said to number in the "hundreds" since a new operation began on Dec.16. Since then, tens of thousands of civilians living under al-Qaeda's Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) have reportedly fled.

"Turkey cannot handle a fresh wave of migrants from Syria, President Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday, warning that European countries will feel the impact of such an influx if violence in Syria’s northwest is not stopped," Reuters reports.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The people for whom I feel sorry the most, in this whole, sordid mess, generated by the US in a continuing (and failing) bid to unseat Al-Assad, are the people displaced by the fighting.

What is happening to them, should not be happening at all, but to the US government, these folks are simply "collateral damage", with no real human value at all.

This Texan Fighting with the Ukraine Rebels Thinks the West Will Force a Big Confrontation in April

First, I do not think Putin and Russia will abandon the Republics. It would be cowardly, unprincipled and futile to do so, and these are adjectives that simply do not apply to Putin or to Russia.

And Putin has also said, and I quote, "I learned on the streets of Leningrad as a kid, if a fight is inevitable, it is better to hit first." I am quite certain that Vladimir Putin will stand by his words, by his promises and his principles, and the Russian People will back him 100%.

Putin has promised that if Russia is attacked, he will destroy the places the attacks come from, and also the places where the orders for the attacks come from. And Vladimir Putin don't lie.

If you allow your corrupt and bloodthirsty rulers to attack us, understand that we will hit back, hard, where you live, and understand that you will have it coming.

Otherwise, your masters will proceed with this diabolical scheme and the whole world may well come crashing down around your heads.

'Some crimes speak for themselves': ICC probe brings back raw memories in Gaza

Palestinian survivors of the 2014 war welcome the International Criminal Court's investigation into Israel, but ask why it has taken so long.

They wouldn't bring back our children'
Ahed Bakr, a father, grandfather and uncle of four children who were killed on a Gaza beach in a deadly attack on 16 July 2014, says it is "promising that there are finally international steps taken to at least recognise Israel's crimes against Palestinians after all this silence".

"What have they been waiting for, for more than five years, to finally take action? Everything was already documented by cameras," he says.

Ahed Atef Bakr, 10, Zakariya Ahed Bakr, 10, Mohammad Ramiz Bakr, 11, and Ismail Mahmoud Bakr, aged nine, were killed when Israeli forces shelled a beachfront in the west of Gaza City, during Operation Protective Edge.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The question I have, is how are the ICC members supposed to get into Gaza, other than fly into Ben Gurion, where they are almost certain of getting kicked off the flight, and placed in a flight right back to where they came from?!?

“America the Shrunken”

In May of 2014, Frank Bruni wrote an article for the NYT titled ‘America the Shrunken’, in which he detailed what he called “the downward arc of a diminished enterprise” that was the USA, quoting friends who claimed their children would live in a more impoverished America, that the reign was over and the slide was inevitable. The optimism and the arrogant swagger are mostly gone.

One American commenting on an article in the Wall Street Journal, wrote the following:

China might soon shift the world naval balance and unseat the US as the modern master of the seas. The process appears to already be under way, and there is little that Washington can do about stopping it.

Visibly shaken by what it has seen on a photo showing just one of China's military shipyards near Shanghai, the business magazine Forbes recently told its readers an alarming story about the "impressive rate" and "vast scale" of Chinese naval modernization.

Top US General Denies That US Troops Died in Vain in Afghanistan

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley sought to defend the Afghan War on Friday, despite the Afghanistan Papers showing systematic official lies about the failed conflict, insisting that the documents were a “mischaracterization” of the war, and that there was no unified decision to deceive the public.

Rather, the position here seems to be that hundreds of Pentagon officials took it upon themselves and each individually decided to deceive the public a little bit, culminating in a colossal lie which couldn’t be explicitly blamed on anyone.

Gen. Milley insisted the war had been a success in that there hadn’t been any specific terror attacks out of Afghanistan for the war’s duration, and particularly objected to the idea that anyone had died “in vain” in the conflict.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Gen. Milley, I will not allow my great respect for the American military be destroyed by one man's solipsistic, and arrogant rant about "no one having died in vain"; this war was simply unwinnable, and those in civilian government did not hesitate to put our brave men and women in uniform in harm's way, thinking that the Afghani people could actually be "pacified" to the point where Afghanistan's great embarrassment of resources could be expropriated, with very little "fuss" from the locals.

Their premises, to even believe that such a feat was doable, were completely unhinged from reality; and the sooner you, and your colleagues in places of high command, understand this, the better you are going to be able to advise leadership, both present and future, about the limits to what "military muscle and equipment" alone can accomplish, if you cannot change the hearts and minds of the people whose country you have just invaded, who must now live through the misery of their country's occupation.

JAPAN BRIEFS IRAN ON PLAN TO SEND FORCES TO MIDDLE EAST

SOURCE: MIDDLE EAST MONITOR
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Friday briefed Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Tokyo’s plan to send naval forces to the Middle East to protect Japanese vessels, a Japanese official said, Reuters reports.

Rouhani said in response that he understood Japan’s intention to contribute to navigational safety, the official told a media briefing after the two leaders met in Tokyo.

“I’m highly concerned about tensions running high in the Middle East,” Abe told Rouhani at the start of the meeting.

Friction between Tehran and Washington has increased since last year when US President Donald Trump pulled the United States out of Tehran’s 2015 nuclear deal with six nations and re-imposed sanctions on the country, crippling its economy.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I think Abe's intentions are good and pragmatic; but I hope that there is no "false flag" against any of these Japanese vessels, so as to make them, and their crews, the "sacrificial lambs" to be used by the US and Israel in their desire to regime change Iran.

ISRAEL SET TO BE INVESTIGATED FOR WAR CRIMES IN PALESTINIAN TERRITORIES, ICC ANNOUNCES

A full investigation into alleged war crimes in the Palestinian Territories is to be launched by the International Criminal Court’s chief prosecutor, prompting a fierce backlash from Israel.

Fatou Bensouda said the probe could result in charges against both Israelis and Palestinians.

“I am satisfied that ... war crimes have been or are being committed in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip,” she said in a statement on Friday.

Bensouda added that because the Palestinian Territories had requested the intervention of the court she did not need to request approval from judges to start an investigation.

However, she has asked the ICC’s pre-trial chamber to rule on what geographical location it can investigate. The probe will be launched pending a decision on geographical jurisdiction.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The question she needs to ask, and have answered, is how is she, and/or her associates, actually going to be able to get to Gaza, East Jerusalem, or the West Bank, without having to travel through Israel?!?

In looking at the borders here, that is going to be very difficult to do, without going through "IDF-enhanced" customs at Ben Gurion Airport, and potentially getting thrown right back on the plane she came in on, to wherever she normally resides.

IF she thinks that her status as a member of the ICC will cut her some slack with Israeli officials, I am deeply concerned that she is headed for an absolute world of hurt, even before the moment her plane lands at Ben Gurion.

THE REAL LESSON OF AFGHANISTAN IS THAT REGIME-CHANGE DOES NOT WORK

SOURCE: NICOLAS DAVIES VIA COUNTERPUNCH

The trove of U.S. “Lessons Learned” documents on Afghanistan published by the Washington Post portrays, in excruciating detail, the anatomy of a failed policy, scandalously hidden from the public for 18 years. The “Lessons Learned” papers, however, are based on the premise that the U.S. and its allies will keep intervening militarily in other countries, and that they must therefore learn the lessons of Afghanistan to avoid making the same mistakes in future military occupations.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The only place here, where Davies misses the mark, is in not crediting the role the independent media has played, in working assiduously, to get the truth out there, for those who would actually take the time to read, and/or listen to it.

This nearly 20 year horrific and catastrophic failure, on the part of the US government, no matter who was in charge, caused many a person holding even a slightly unconventional view on this war, based on what facts emerged, to be branded as "an idiot", or worse.

Folks, the butt-ugly truth about Afghanistan is the following; the only guy who was able to conquer, and hold, this region through a series of dynastic alliances and marriages, was Alexander the Great; and that was only for a relatively short time.

Yes, the country sits over an embarrassment of riches, between the pipelines, and rare earth elements; but the Afghani people have got to have the opportunity to create a new country and a new society from within.

The sorry state of corruption in which the US has left this country, not to mention our ex-military who are dying with cancer, because their housing was occasionally placed right on top of chemical dumpsites, with zero thought to their safety, has to be remedied.

But instead of billions for war, the US government should be spending money on treating our Vets, and focusing on allowing Afghanis the opportunity to emerge as whole as possible, given a chance to educate their kids, and sleep in peace.

The bottom line here is, this was "unwinnable" from its very inception, and it is high time for Americans to come home, permanently.

At Least 61 US Veterans Who Guarded 'Contaminated' Ex-Russian Base Died Or Have Cancer

At least 61 US special operations forces who were deployed to a former Soviet base just a few hundred miles from the Afghanistan border have either died or have cancer, according to a new report by McClatchy DC's Tara Copp.

The deployment, which began shortly after the 9/11 attacks, were to a military site in Uzbekistan called Karshi-Khanabad, known as K2. It was leased by the United States from the Uzbek government weeks after the 2001 terrorist incident, as it was in close proximity to al Qaeda and Taliban targets.

The US troops were greeted by "radiation hazard" warning signs, 'black goo' oozing fro the ground, and pond water that glowed green, according to the report.

K2 was contaminated with chemical weapons remnants, radioactive processed uranium and other hazards, according to documents obtained by McClatchy.

Video: Military Intervention in Libya and Turkey’s Grand Game in the Eastern Mediterranean

During the past week, the situation significantly escalated in Libya, with Turkey expanding its military involvement in the conflict.

In late November, Turkey signed with the Government of National Accord (GNA), which controls only a small part of northern Libya, deals on security cooperation and maritime jurisdiction. By this move Ankara, the main backer of the GNA and pro-GNA militants, tried to legalize its economic zone claims in the eastern Mediterranean and thus legalize its controversial drilling activities in the region. At the same time, Turkey sees its involvement in the Libyan conflict as a tool of expansion of its own influence in the entire region.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There is a companion piece to this, written early December, from the independent.co.uk, which sheds a little more light on this story.

Putin has turned his attention to the war in Libya as part of his aim to undermine Nato, by Ahmed Abdoulouh

The article goes on to state: "Whatever the morals over such a push, President Putin has played his hand right. The Benghazi attack on the American diplomatic compound in 2012, which resulted in Ambassador Christopher Stevens’s death, left a psychological scar in the US policy towards Libya, and Washington seems unable to find a way out of it.

This along with the chaos caused by numerous factions fighting for their own ends, shaped a perfect environment for Russia to step in. Libya, after Syria, is further proof that the policy of inaction that the Trump administration looks to employ is the biggest strategic asset Putin has. He is trying to make sure Moscow fills the gaps in leadership left behind."

Putin seems to always be thinking light-years ahead of both US leadership, and NATO. This seems to be one of those moments when his outlook is nothing short of brilliant.

The Hidden Military Use of 5G Technology

The possibilities offered by this new technology are explained by the Defense Applications of 5G Network Technology, published by the Defense Science Board, a federal committee which provides scientific advice for the Pentagon –

“The emergence of 5G technology, now commercially available, offers the Department of Defense the opportunity to take advantage, at minimal cost, of the benefits of this system for its own operational requirements”.

In other words, the 5G commercial network, built and activated by private companies, will be used by the US armed forces at a much lower expenditure than that necessary if the network were to be set up with an exclusively military goal.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And of course, the other "dark side" of this technology is probably much more, and more intense surveillance against perfectly innocent people, who are doing absolutely nothing wrong.

US Will `Curb Malign Iranian Behavior' if It Doesn't Stop

By EDITH M. LEDERER, Associated Press

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The United States renewed its offer to engage in talks with Iran on Thursday but warned it will do everything in its power “to curb malign Iranian behavior” if Tehran continues to destabilize the Middle East.

"Their Obsession With Weapons Is Crazy" - Gorbachev Warns US Is Bent On "Absolute Military Supremacy"

Authored by David Brennan via Newsweek.com,

Former Soviet premier Mikhail Gorbachev has urged President Donald Trump's administration to re-engage with Russia on landmark arms control treaties, warning that the collapse of Cold War-era nuclear weapon limits threatens global catastrophe.

Russia has also since suspended participation in the INF Treaty, prompting concerns of a new arms race. The infographic below, provided by Statista, shows the estimated global nuclear weapons arsenals as of December 2017.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Gorbachev is entirely correct in his assessment here; but I think the real reason President Trump wanted out of this most recent walkaway, was understanding just how far ahead Russia and China are ahead of us, in terms of advanced weaponry.

"You Should Not Get Closer To Our Borders" - Russia Deploys Hypersonic Missile Fighters To Arctic

Russia has deployed hypersonic missile fighters along the Arctic and Pacific coasts to protect its maritime borders, reported Izvestia.

Mikoyan MiG-31 supersonic interceptor jets have been outfitted with the Kh-47M2 Kinzhal ("Dagger"), a nuclear-capable air-launched ballistic missile, and deployed to the Kola Peninsula and Kamchatka regions of the country, a powerful move that will send shockwaves through Washington as Russia is now prepared to take control of the Arctic.

The air-launched hypersonic missile is one of the most advanced weapons in the world, even sophisticated air defense systems have difficulty defending against its Mach 10 to Mach 12 speed.

With the deployment of the hypersonic missile fighters, one fleet in the Arctic and another in the Pacific, Russia will be able to deploy a rapid response countermeasure or even defensive maneuver across the Arctic and the North Pacific.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would politely suggest that, until the US has weaponry which can exceed what this fighter can do, that this country's leadership NOT try something stupid with either Russia, or nations it has (Syria) or may (Iran) well defend in the near term.

Is It Time to “Duck and Cover” in the Eastern Med?

How badly does Washington want NATO to survive? Bad enough to betray the Greeks again and to reignite the Cyprus killing fields, that’s how bad. News the US Congress is expected to approve a bill lifting an arms embargo on Cyprus, which has been in place since 1987, can mean only one thing.

According to the news from Washington, the embargo on arms sales will be lifted once Congress passes the National Defense Authorization Act for 2020. Once President Trump signs the bill, US exports to the Republic of Cyprus of “defense-related” materials will add guns to what has always been a volatile situation. Recent Turkey-Greece friction already signaled a rekindling of old war fires, and now the US comes out and flatly admits that the Republic of Cyprus needs to be part of the “Partnership for Peace” NATO program.

The US-NATO-Israel Sponsored Al Qaeda Insurgency in Syria. Who Was Behind the 2011 “Protest Movement”?

Almost nine years since the beginning of the war on Syria in March 2011, so-called “progressives” have supported the so-called “opposition”, which is largely made up of Al Qaeda affiliated mercenaries. A US-NATO led war of aggression is portrayed as a “civil war”.

President Bashar Al Assad is casually described as a dictator who is killing his own people. The millions of deaths resulting from US-NATO led wars are not an object of concern.

The anti-war movement died in the wake of the Iraq war (April 2003). Responsibility to Protect (R2P) and counterterrorism prevail.

The war on Syria started more than nine years ago in Daraa on the 17th of March 2011.

The following article first published in May 2011 examines the inception of the jihadist terrorist insurgency.

It recounts the events of March 17-18, 2011 in Daraa, a small border town with Jordan.

The Coup Becomes a Civil War – Trump Impeached

The Democrats declared war yesterday. Not on Donald Trump but on the United States and the Constitution.

What started as a coup to overturn the 2016 election has now morphed into a Civil War as Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-San Fran-feces) presided over the passage of a bill which creates a clear Constitutional Crisis.

And that means we have multiple factions vying for control of our government, the definition of a Civil War.

In passing these articles of impeachment against President Trump Congress has arrogated to itself powers it does not have.

High Noon For Trump: The Impeachment Charade

The Trump deception has been one of the Jews’ most brilliant accomplishments. And it seems they’ve induced across the land a debilitating cognitive dissonance. “How can Trump possibly be a bad guy,” many across America are now asking, “if the likes of Nancy Pelosi can’t stand him?”

ARCH STANTON : Trump has just given Israel the international green light to do whatever it deems necessary to protect its interests in the Near East — and the Near East its getting nearer all the time. He has armed the Jewish House of Saud with nukes and other high tech weapons. Those nukes, combined with Israel’s nukes, make the Jews not only a monstrous regional threat, but a global menace as well.

The Afghanistan Fiasco and the Decline and Fall of the American Military

A devastating investigative report was published in the Washington Post on December 9th. Dubbed the “Afghanistan Papers” in a nod to the Vietnam War’s famous “Pentagon Papers,” the report relied on thousands of documents to similarly expose how the US government at the presidential level across three administrations, acting in collaboration with the military brass and civilian bureaucracy, deliberately and systematically lied repeatedly to the public and media about the situation in Afghanistan.

The story should have been featured all across the US as Afghanistan continues to kill Americans and much larger numbers of Afghans while also draining billions of dollars from the United States Treasury, but the mainstream media was largely unresponsive, preferring to cover the impeachment saga.

Shock Video as Russians Enter Syria’s Raqqa, a ‘2nd Dresden’ After US Saturation Bombing

More US War Crimes.

The CIA and Mossad created and funded ISIS, which they used to invade Syria, and then, when the jig was up and they had to pretend to be on the right side, they bombed a few Syrian cities back into the stone age, not to destroy ISIS, which fled well in advance with ample warning from their friends, but to make sure the Syrians had nothing left. The infrastructure of Raqqa is non existent, they’d be better off if it was just sand. That’s how Israel plays the game. Time for the Western voters to wake up and realize who has them by the tail.

Nothing can hold back arms race if Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty with US is not renewed – Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that a global arms race is inevitable if the US and Russia do not agree to extend the ten-year Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START), which is due to expire in early 2021.
Speaking at a Q&A session with reporters in Moscow on Thursday, Putin said that Russia stands ready “to simply renew the existing New START agreement,” even if it happens as fast as by the end of this year.

They can send us the [agreement] tomorrow, or we can sign and send it to Washington. Let their designated official sign it too, including the president, if they’re ready to do so.

“But so far our proposals have been left unanswered” by the US, Putin stressed.

If the New START ceases to exist, nothing in the world will hold back an arms race. I believe this is bad.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Putin is entirely correct in his assessment here; I think President Trump wants out of the treaty because right now, the US weapons manufacturers are collectively not providing weapons which can not even begin to compare with the new weaponry coming out of Russia and/or China.

A new arms race is the last thing the US, Russia, and China should be doing, because it puts the people of this planet at increased risk, that those horrifically destructive weapons will, ultimately, be used.

A world at peace has no need for this; and I have to wonder just what is going to convince world leaders to at least try for a little lessening of international tensions in 2020; unfortunately, looking at how geopolitical squabbles are getting sorted at the moment, I do not see this coming to fruition any time soon.

There is no 19 year old American who has not lived during a time of continuous war, most usually generated by the Unhinged, Surveilled State of Amerika, and that .... is a pretty damned depressing statistic.

AFGHANISTAN WAR – THE CRIME OF THE CENTURY

Congress and especially Congressional leadership of both parties are all as guilty as the three lying Administrations. They were part of the big lie, falsely presenting to the American people as “expert” witnesses only those bought-and-paid-for Beltway neocon think tankers.

What is even more shocking than the release of this “smoking gun” evidence that the US government wasted two trillion dollars and killed more than three thousand Americans and more than 150,000 Afghans while lying through its teeth about the war is that you could hear a pin drop in the mainstream media about it. Aside from the initial publication in the Washington Post, which has itself been a major cheerleader for the war in Afghanistan, the mainstream media has shown literally no interest in what should be the story of the century.

SAUDI OIL ATTACK AND CHOREOGRAPHED PROTESTS IN IRAN-ALIGNED COUNTRIES:

In order to bring home the significance of the Persian Gulf’s oil in the energy-starved industrialized world, here are a few stats from the OPEC data: Saudi Arabia has the world’s largest proven crude oil reserves of 265 billion barrels and its daily oil production is 10 million barrels; Iran and Iraq each has 150 billion barrels reserves and has the capacity to produce 5 million barrels per day each; while UAE and Kuwait each has 100 billion barrels reserves and produces 3 million barrels per day each; thus, all the littoral states of the Persian Gulf, together, hold 788 billion barrels, more than half of world’s 1477 billion barrels proven oil reserves.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The government of Iran may be many things; stupid, however, is not one of them.

They understand that anything which even looks like some kind of attack against American/Israeli assets in the region, would be followed by a counterattack which would turn Tehran into molten glass.

This is also why, when any kind of attack happens in the Middle East or beyond, against American/Israeli assets (and I wouldn't bet against this, right now), you will know for certain, that Iran had no part in it.

THE TURKISH INTERVENTION IN LIBYA MIGHT LEAD TO A WAR WITH EGYPT

A week ago Erdogan said that he was ready to deploy troops to Libya on short notice. Today rumors appeared in Arab media, still unconfirmed, that Turkish special operations forces landed in Tripoli.

The Libyan war between two Libyan parties will now become a very different beast. Egypt will not tolerate a Muslim Brotherhood led Libya as its neighbor. Before the Turkish support allows the GNA government to defeat Haftar Egypt will intervene. The situation can thereby soon develop into an intense war during which Turkish troops fight on Libyan grounds against the Egyptian military.

Both countries have rich Arab sponsors who can finance a long and intense conflict. Both have lots of material and many many soldiers who they can throw into the fight. The Egyptian side has one advantage. Its long land border allows for easy resupply while Turkey will have to rely on supplies that come by sea and air and can be cut off or at least interrupted.

Webmaster's Commentary:

With NATO still fuming over Erdogan's recent behaviour, coupled with his threat to close down the NATO base at Incirlik, Edrogan is playing with fire in this situation, because no matter how he tries to paint such an intervention, I would rather suspect that the rest of NATO will simply attempt to ignore it with dignity, for as long as it reasonably can.

But the real question is, who and what will support Egypt against Erdogan, and who will support Erdogan militarily, should such a conflict start?!?

There is a sister companion story, out of zerohedge.com, with the following, very unsettling headline: Turkey To Establish Military Base In Libya As Egypt Threatens Its Own Intervention

The article goes on to state: "Turkey's involvement in the ongoing Libyan war between Benghazi-based General Khalifa Haftar and the UN-recognized Tripoli GNA government is set to grow.

Following a recent military agreement between Turkey and Tripoli, and as Haftar's forces threaten attack on any Turkish plane or ship, it's expected the Turkish military will set up a base in the war-torn country. Middle East Monitor reports of the latest developments:

Turkey is set to establish a military base in Libya, according to Turkish media reports earlier this week, as President Recep Tayyip weighs up the possibility of intervention in the country’s civil war.

Yeni Shafak reported on Monday that the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Turkish parliament had approved a recent agreement between Turkey and Libya on military cooperation. It also includes provisions for launching a “quick reaction force” if requested by the Libyan government."

Turkey just "kicked it up a notch" with this agreement with Libya to provide Turkish troops, if asked, against General Haftar's potential advance against Tripoli; look for this to get very ugly, very quickly; Russia is supporting Haftar, both openly, and covertly.

If a shooting war continues, look for Russia's support of Haftar to be the key for deal-making, to bring Hafter; Turkey; and Tripoli into an accord which will start with an immediate cease-fire.

NEW YORK FED PLANS TO THROW $2.93 TRILLION AT WALL STREET’S TRADING HOUSES OVER NEXT MONTH

SOURCE: RIGGED GAME
PAM MARTENS AND RUSS MARTENS OF WALL STREET ON PARADE.
One has to wonder how much money it would take for the New York Fed to throw at Wall Street before the New York Times reports to its readers on the biggest Wall Street bailout by the Fed since the financial crisis.

Last Thursday, December 12, the New York Fed announced that over the next month it would shower the trading houses (primary dealers) on Wall Street with a total of $2.93 trillion in short-term loans. The money is for a Wall Street liquidity crisis that has yet to be explained in credible terms to the American people and yet the New York Times does not appear to have an investigative reporter assigned to investigate what’s really going on just 11 years after those same trading houses blew themselves up in the biggest financial crash since the Great Depression and took the U.S. economy along for the ride.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As an individual who really tries to be frugal, the numbers being thrown around here, are almost dizzying, both in terms of magnitude, and what they mean for the American economy as a whole.

I am very deeply concerned about two issues here; first, the real possibility of a financial crash which would dwarf that which caused the American Great Depression of the 30s, and secondly, the reality that so far, the US government has gotten out of its financial straits through wars.

And have you noticed all the potential "boogie-man countries" recently against which the US media has been waving its collective warmongering digits ?

Let's see; there is China; Iran; Russia; and North Korea.

I would like to hope that all who want President Trump's first term in office to succeed, will share with him the following, butt-ugly reality here; The US military does not have the money; the weaponry; the manufacturing; or the troop strength, with which to win a war with any of the above-mentioned countries.

A war with North Korea almost guarantees a war with China; a war against Iran almost guarantees a war with Russia.

President Trump needs, desperately, to understand these very dark realities, and craft a foreign policy which moves as far away from war, as the American answer to these challenges, as he can possibly move that foreign policy.

Turkey calls US ending of Cyprus arms embargo ‘dangerous escalation’

Turkey has warned that the United States’ decision to end a decades-old arms embargo on Cyprus would be a “dangerous escalation.”

In a statement issued late Tuesday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said the US decision “will have no outcome other than hampering efforts toward a settlement on the island and creating a dangerous escalation.”

The US Congress voted Tuesday to lift the arms embargo on Cyprus, which has been in place since 1987. The measure has passed both chambers of Congress as part of a massive defense spending bill, with President Donald Trump likely to sign it.

The bill comes at a time of tensions between Turkey and the US over such issues as Ankara’s purchase of the Russian S-400 system and Washington’s support for Kurdish-led militants in Syria.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This ... could get very ugly, very quickly, and someone with some "male Attributes in NATO", has GOT to start working, very hard, and very intelligently, to prevent two NATO members, Greece and Turkey, from assaulting each other, militarily.

That’s what the man says: Kremlin backs top general’s assessment that NATO is drilling for large-scale war

The Kremlin has said that it trusts the opinion of a senior Russian general, who has said that NATO's intensified drills this year are an indication that the military bloc is preparing for a major conflict.

Valery Gerasimov, the chair of the Russian General Staff, shared the wary view that the Russian military have about NATO's maneuvers on Tuesday as he gave a year-end briefing to foreign military attaches in Moscow.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the opinion was based on analyses of data collected by the Russian military and should not be dismissed.

"In this case the professional opinion may be the only correct one, so the presidential administration is in no position to put forward its own military assessment," he said.

Gerasimov said the increased number and scale of military exercises conducted by NATO members this year indicates that the alliance "is purposefully training its troops to be engaged in a major military conflict."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Russian leadership may be many things; stupid, however, is not one of them.

I would like to very politely, but strongly, urge caution, on the part of NATO, to please define what it believes are its "enemies" with a great deal of care and consideration.

Missile-Toe? US General Frets Pyongyang’s ‘Christmas Gift’ Could be Long-Range Test

With North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s New Years’ deadline for resuming negotiations quickly approaching, some Pentagon leaders are fretting that Kim may send the US a “Christmas gift” or possibly ring in the new year with a new long-range missile test. Kim announced a unilateral moratorium on such tests in April 2018.

“A long-range ballistic missile” test is expected before year's end, according to Gen. Charles Brown, commander of Pacific Air Forces and air component commander for US Indo-Pacific Command.

“What I would expect is some type of long-range ballistic missile would be the gift. It’s just a matter of does it come on Christmas Eve, does it come on Christmas Day, does it come after the New Year,” Brown told reporters at a breakfast roundtable on Tuesday, according to The Hill.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What does "negotiation" really entail?!?

We could, reasonably, say, that the process of negotiation demands a "quid pro quo" vision, where if the other country takes steps to negotiate, and provides tangible results to ratchet down tension, the country wanting the other country to take those steps, must then logically take steps of its own to ratchet down the tension.

And here has been the crux of the problem; President Trump has been, essentially telling North Korea that it must do everything the US demands, before it will even think about what the US government "just might" do in return.

President Kim Jung-Un did take some concrete, very visible steps, right after the first summit between himself and President Trump; but the US has done nothing demonstrable to even begin to prove that it is serious, by taking any further steps to lessen the tensions here.

Unfortunately, no matter the advice he may have been given to help shape his foreign policy on North Korea, no one in the bowels of power in DC has been able to successfully educate him on the concept of "face", which is critical to Asian countries and key to successfully deal with Asian leadership.

So President Trump, I am very sorry, but you have brought the current and potentially deadly developments with North Korea, upon your own head.

Because what we are looking at, should North Korea feel sufficiently threatened by your current course of action, will most probably be a war with both North Korea and China.

And that, sir, may just not be a winnable war for the US side.

"Use Extreme Caution": Boaters Warned Of "Unsafe, Erratic" Russian Spy Ship Off Carolina Coast

A Russian spy ship which had been been sailing off the coast of South Carolina and Florida for the past few days has been a source of alarm for US authorities who say it's been operating in an “unsafe” and “erratic” manner.

It prompted an unusual US Coast Guard alert which warned boaters off South Carolina and Georgia to "use extreme caution", especially given the Russian ship, the Viktor Leonov, is avoiding any communication or direct contact with other ships alerting them to its passage, CNN reports. Though not unusual, the ship also turned off its locator when it got near the US coast.

"The United States Coast Guard has received reports indicating that the RFN VIKTOR LEONOV (AGI-175) has been operating in an unsafe manner off the coast of South Carolina and Georgia," the Coast Guard bulletin said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder if this is not "payback" for some rather odd maneuvers US ships have done in the vicinity of Russian ships.

Implausible Denials: The Crime at Jabal al Tharda. US-led Air Raid on Behalf of ISIS-Daesh Against Syrian Forces/By Prof. Tim Anderson Global Research, December 17, 2017

On 17 September 2016 a carefully planned US-led air raid on Jabal al Tharda (Mount Tharda), overlooking Deir Ezzor airport, slaughtered over 100 Syrian soldiers and delivered control of the mountain to DAESH / ISIS. After that surprise attack, the terrorist group held the mountain for almost a year, but did not manage to take the airport or the entire city. US-led forces admitted the attack but claimed it was all a ‘mistake’. However uncontested facts, eye witness accounts and critical circumstances show that was a lie. This article sets out the evidence of this crime, in context of Washington’s historical use of mercenaries for covert actions, linked to the doctrine of ‘plausible deniability’.

The Crumbling of America

In June of 2013 an Interstate bridge on a main commercial corridor between Seattle, Washington and Vancouver, Canada, collapsed and fell into the river below after being hit by a truck. This was not a high-speed collision; the truck simply bumped one of the main support pillars at low speed, but the weakened and dilapidated pillar broke from the strain and, without that extra bit of support, the entire bridge immediately collapsed. In prior examinations, the heavily-travelled bridge had not only been rated as functionally obsolete but structurally deficient and requiring replacement.

This is only one of thousands; the great majority of the physical infrastructure of the US is in a similar condition, involving roads, dams, bridges and more. More than 160,000 bridges in the US are officially categorized as dangerous, at risk of collapse, with such collapses now regularly occurring. (1) (2) (3)

The Richest Country’s Empty Plates. 50 Million Hungry Americans

When Reagan came to power in 1980, there were 200 food banks in the US; today there are more than 40,000, all overwhelmed with demand and forced to ration their dispersals. Before 1980, one out of every 50 Americans was dependent on food stamps. Today, it is one out of four.

That 50 million hungry Americans today includes the 25% of all children in the US who go to sleep hungry every night. About 25% of the American population today cannot buy sufficient food to remain healthy, with most of these being hungry for at least three months during each year. It is so bad that many college students have resorted to what we call “dumpster-diving” – looking in garbage bins for edible food.

Perhaps even more alarming was the release of study data in the middle of 2014 documenting that 25% of the US military members are also dependent on food stamps, food banks and other civilian welfare projects for their survival.

Brain Dead Congress Doesn’t Realize It’s Trying to Finish Off NATO

After what can only be termed a terrible NATO Not Summit two weeks ago it was clear the alliance has serious fissures forming in its facade.

It seems that the depths of our Congress’ cravenness before the desires of Israel knows no bottom. Erdogan has been explicit in his antipathy for Benjamin Netanyahu’s continued regional provocations to eke out a win in Syria.

Erdogan, Putin and Rouhani in Iran all know that Trump doesn’t have the stomach or the stupidity for war. So they have allowed the political forces in the U.S. to over-commit to a policy they can’t back up.

The Russia/China/Iran axis has simply played the ultimate game of attrition, reading the economic and political tea leaves perfectly while executing a pan-Eurasian strategy of integration through disengagement from U.S. and U.K. financial institutions. That strategy has failed. Trump knows it, but his State Dept. and CIA, as well as those of the U.K., France and Germany, refuse to accept defeat.

Bashar Assad Reveals How US Forces Can Be Driven From Syria's Oil Fields

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has explained in an interview with Chinese broadcaster Phoenix Television that two goals must be achieved in order to make American military forces finally withdraw from the country, where they have been stationed without the government's authorisation or a UN mandate.

Firstly, all terrorist groups on Syrian territory must be eradicated, as the fight against them is being used by the US government as a pretext to keep its forces present in the Arab Republic, Assad stated. The Syrian president said that the second step would involve convincing Washington's allies among the local population, presumably referring to Kurds, to unite their forces with the Syrian government instead of the foreign forces.

"These groups must be persuaded, one way or another and particularly through dialogue, that it is in all our interests in Syria that they embrace the homeland and join the Syrian state’s efforts to liberate all its territories", Assad said.

It is almost as though he realizes... that Afghanistan may well prove to be the US's 21st century Vietnam war.

RECENTLY RETIRED USAF GENERAL MAKES EYEBROW RAISING CLAIMS ABOUT ADVANCED SPACE TECHNOLOGY

Lt. Gen. Kwast most recently served as Commander of the Air Education and Training Command (AETC) at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA), but retired in August. According to some reports, Kwast was prematurely relieved of his duties at JBSA and blacklisted for promotion after speaking out on space-related issues despite a service-wide gag order. Kwast declined to comment on the reports and retired on September 1, 2019.

Despite the controversy surrounding his removal from his post at AETC, some defense analysts and Lt. Gen. Kwast’s own supporters within the Armed Forces were suggesting prior to his retirement that he should be appointed as Commander of the Pentagon's budding Space Force. Kwast has published several op-eds in recent years pushing for the U.S. military to take on a greater role in space in order to ensure American economic dominance and what he sees as the continued proliferation of American values.

Army’s Secret Flights Over Washington Now an ‘Enduring’ Mission

The U.S. Army has made permanent a classified aviation mission over Washington and disclosed that it’s aimed at responding to a terrorist attack or natural disaster. The mysterious operation -- which generated complaints from local residents for excess noise at night -- was mentioned in a Pentagon request to Congress in July asking for approval to shift fiscal 2019 funds to different purposes.

‘ATROCIOUS’: 188 DEMOCRATS JOIN GOP TO HAND TRUMP $738 BILLION MILITARY BUDGET THAT INCLUDES ‘SPACE FORCE’

“It is Orwellian for Congress to hand over billions of dollars worth of weapons and bombs to a president waging a horrific, unconstitutional war in Yemen—and call that progressive.”

More than 180 House Democrats joined a nearly united Republican caucus Wednesday night to pass a sweeping $738 billion military spending bill that gives President Donald Trump his long-sought “Space Force,” free rein to wage endless wars, and a green light to continue fueling the humanitarian catastrophe in Yemen.

Greece To Help Tripoli 'Block Turkish Ships' As Libyan War Spills Into Mediterranean

The years-long war for post-Gaddafi Libya now threatens to spill over into the Mediterranean as Turkey and Greece line up on either side of the conflict. Each side is now threatening the others' allied ships in southern waters after a controversial maritime deal expanded Turkish claims off Libya's coast.

On Thursday Benghazi-based General Kalifa Haftar declared his Libyan National Army has begun its "final decisive battle" to wrest control of the capital of Tripoli from the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA).

"Zero hour has come for the broad and total assault expected by every free and honest Libyan," Haftar said in a televised address, reports Al Jazeera. "Today, we announce the decisive battle and the advancement towards the heart of the capital to set it free... advance now our heroes." Beginning eight months ago Haftar launched a siege of Tripoli, which has been stalled in recent months.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This could spin out of control horrifically rapidly; prayers for all the innocent Libyans impacted, or who will be impacted.

Pentagon chiefs say US troops to stay in Syria for years

Barely two months after US President Donald Trump’s demagogic announcement that he was pulling US troops out of northeastern Syria to fulfill his campaign promise to bring a halt to Washington’s “endless wars,” the senior civilian and uniformed Pentagon chiefs told a House panel Wednesday that there is no foreseeable end to the American presence there.

Defense Secretary Mark Esper and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Mark Milley maintained in their testimony to the House Armed Services Committee that the US military was staying in Syria to assure the “enduring defeat” of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), and that the fulfillment of that goal is likely years away.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Forgive me, Defense Secretary Esper and Joint Chiefs Staff Milley: But has Russia's President Putin received the memo, that this is continued, endless occupation of Syria, is coming?!?

Just asking, gentlemen; just asking.

Clashes erupt in Delhi over citizenship law; Japan PM cancels visit

Violent clashes erupted in Delhi between police and hundreds of university students on Friday over the enactment of a new citizenship law that critics say undermines India’s secular foundations.

Police fired tear gas and used baton charges to disperse scores of students demonstrating at Jamia Millia Islamia university in the heart of Delhi over the law.

Protesters attacked cars in the capital, and several people were injured and taken to hospital.

Zakir Riyaz, a PhD student in social work, said the new law made a mockery of India’s religious openness.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, now it's "open season" on India's Muslims, in terms of denying citizenship to them?!?

What else will be denied them, beside the right to vote, under this law; will they not be able to attend the finest schools in India because of this?!? Will they have to present a pass, every time they work?!? Are there going to now be some jobs forbidden to them?!? And will housing become completely segregated by faith, driving Muslim families out of the marketplace?!?

I would politely suggest to the Indian government, that going the way of Israel's apartheid, is not going to help empower India in a positive, and moral direction.

That huge Thumpa-thumpa we are all hearing right now... is the sound of Mahatma Gandhi, whirling in his grave, at warp-drive speed.

Pompeo warns Iran of 'decisive response' if harm in Iraq

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Friday warned Iran of a "decisive" response if US interests are harmed in Iraq, after a series of rocket attacks on bases.

"We must... use this opportunity to remind Iran's leaders that any attacks by them, or their proxies of any identity, that harm Americans, our allies or our interests will be answered with a decisive US response," Pompeo said in a statement.

"Iran must respect the sovereignty of its neighbors and immediately cease its provision of lethal aid and support to third parties in Iraq and throughout the region," he said.

The United States has expressed mounting concern about the flurry of attacks on Iraqi bases used by US troops, several of which it has blamed on Iranian-backed Shiite paramilitary groups.

Two rocket attacks this week targeted a compound near Baghdad International Airport, which houses US troops, with an incident Monday wounding Iraqi troops.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There are so many possibilities for a false flag before the end of the year, that one hardly knows were to start; that being said, however, Iraq is certainly one of those places where a false flag against an American entity could be done, blamed on Iran, and off we would be going.

However, as someone who doesn't walk in the halls of power in DC, I must shudder at what appears a huge "gap of awareness" which makes itself known, when Secretary State Pompeo, hauls off with threats like these.

Has he not been made privy to the following article ( and the article was written in English; you didn't even have to read Russian to read i)t, and here is what it said:

Iran won't be alone, if the US attacks it. The statement was made by Zamir Kabulov, the Foreign Ministry’s special envoy for Asian countries including Iran, said at a Russian-Iranian policy forum in Moscow.

And I am stunned here; if I know about it as just a plain-Jane citizen of this country, why do you, Secretary Pompeo, apparently not know that this was said publicly by a Russian official?!?

And sir, were I you, I would take Kabulov at his word; and at the moment he made this declaration he was channeling Putin.

It has been said, that some people this close to Putin don't even FART without asking his permission.

Mr. Secretary, I am imploring you as politely as I can, please do not go to war with Iran, because it will, most likely mean war with Russia.

Please do not "get drunk on the cork" of any "victory is ours" scenarios,
being "curated" for you by any of our governmental agencies at the moment; the track record of the US government's having signed off on these concepts,
for at least the past 20 years, stinks with the wretched, fetid odor of a badly conjured, dart-board foreign policy, where the people who created these scenarios were pathologically incapable of seeing them through to their logical conclusion.

Israel bars Gaza’s Christians from visiting Bethlehem, Jerusalem at Christmas

Christians in the Gaza Strip will not be allowed to visit holy cities such as Bethlehem and Jerusalem to celebrate Christmas this year, Israeli authorities said on Thursday.

Gazan Christians will be granted permits to travel abroad but none will be allowed to go to Israel and the occupied West Bank, home to many sites holy to Christians, a spokeswoman for Israel’s military liaison to the Palestinians said.

Israel tightly restricts movements out of the Gaza Strip, territory controlled by militant group Hamas.

The spokeswoman said that following “security orders,” Gazans would be allowed to travel abroad via Israel’s Allenby Bridge border crossing with Jordan but not to visit cities in Israel or the West Bank.

Gaza has only around 1,000 Christians - most of them Greek Orthodox - among a population of 2 million in the narrow coastal strip.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to speculate if this is telegraphing that the IDF is planning some sort of "special mission" against these three key cities which are so important to the Christian faith and narrative, in order to create false flags in them, saying that it was the Palestinians who did such a thing, to get Christians generally annoyed with Palestinians as the IDF goes into Gaza with an alleged "countermeasure", to justify killing more innocent Palestinians.

Cheney warns US against Middle East pullout as even Washington Post digs up proof his War on Terror was ‘UNWINNABLE’

Ultra-hawk former vice president Dick Cheney has reprised his role as head cheerleader for the never-ending war he kicked off nearly 20 years ago. But has the prodigious conflict dragged on too long even for the war-happy MSM?

Cheney warned a rapt Dubai audience that “American disengagement” from the Middle East would play right into the hands of Iran and Russia, serving up “power voids” on a silver platter to any US rival willing to take the initiative. “Russia is always on standby to fill power voids,” he insisted on Monday, framing the Trump administration's move to wind down its military presence in northeastern Syria as a national embarrassment sure to set the stage for a resurgence of the Evil Empire coupled with a nuclear Iran.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Can this war criminal, with a name so vile it can barely be spoken in the homes of decent people, not possibly, please, shut up, and go home?!?

Continuing to lie to the world, about what "has been accomplished" in places like Iraq and Afghanistan, only makes the excrement of those lies flow higher and deeper, until, sir it has taken over the entirety of the ventilation system with a vengeance, and starts squirting it, gleefully, back out over those designer clothing you love to wear.

The cold, hard, and butt-ugly fact of the matter, sir, is that history will not treat you, or President Bush, or your and his minions, with much kindness.

History's mirror will see you, and the people who surrounded you professionally, precisely for what you are; soulless monsters, hell-bent on war, to drive the military industrial complex's revenues to incredibly high profits, in the process of destroying those countries, the natural resources of which, you and your team coveted greatly.

Trump Wants Criticism of Israel Equated with Anti-Semitism

Anti-Zionism and anti-Israel are unrelated to hostility and bias toward Jews.

Israel is a nation-state, Judaism a religion. Some of Israel’s fiercest critics are Jews, clearly not self-hating ones.

Calling Jewish state critics anti-Semitic is a long-ago discredited canard.

The same goes for criticizing Zionism, tyranny by another name. The ideology is extremist, undemocratic, hateful, ruthless, racist, destructive, and hostile to peace, equity and justice.

It’s contemptuous of fundamental legal, moral and ethical principles, Jews unacceptably considered a chosen people superior to others.

As expected, the Dems impeached Trump for winning an election he was supposed to lose, for wanting improved relations with Russia, and other issues unrelated to phony charges against him.

His real high crimes of war and against humanity were ignored. The same goes for betraying the public trust by serving monied interests exclusively at the expense of ordinary people.

Why? Because the vast majority in Congress share guilt, so Dems invented phony politicized reasons to charge him.

The House version of the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) set aside an irresponsibly large amount of money for military spending, but it also added some antiwar amendments and other very basic limitations. Saker message: a thank you, a “state of the blog” report and a “perfect storm” warning

Some housekeeping by the Saker and at the bottom of the page some interesting stuff.
Next, my dire warning:
A look into 2021 – brace for impact as a perfect storm is forming on the 2020 horizon

My friends, I am sorry to say that I think the next year will probably be a perfect storm! I have explained in many articles why I think that, so I will just summarize it all here:

In the USA the next Presidential election will most likely be a disaster. The Dems are dead set to use any and all lies and tricks to try to remove Trump, while the GOP hopes that by selling out to Israel it will remain in power.
The US is tanking on so many levels that I will only mention a few crucial ones: politically, socially, economically and militarily. The Trump-disaster has shown beyond doubt that this is not about personalities or who gets to sit in the White House. It is about a system which is profoundly 1) corrupt 2) dysfunctional and 3) unreformable.

A Recipe For Civil War

A Recipe For Civil War
There is a war between red states and blue states, between gun-right rubes and confiscating-jews.

In blue state California, (once the go-to state for free spirit creatures), people are leaving and fleeing in droves en route to red state Texas.

And New York ‘values’ aren’t keeping its people in, with more leaving the state than any other.

For when sovereignty is pressurized into slavery, and freedom of speech is maligned as a medium of ‘hate,’ then a recipe for civil war is a sure and settled fate.

Breaking up is hard to do.

But with repressive laws out of DC, and a coerced culture too, it’s time we bid this tyranny adieu.

Just say “Nullify.”

Predictive Programming --- US Civil War?

(henrymakow.com)

There are too many articles predicting America is in for another Civil War. Since the beginning of 2019, there's a new one every week.

I've come to see these stories as PREDICTIVE PROGRAMMING which is psychological conditioning provided by the media to acquaint the public with planned societal changes.

When these changes are put through, the public is already be familiar with them and will accept them as natural progressions, thus lessening public resistance and commotion. For example, March 2, 2019, The Washington Post:

"At a moment when the country has never seemed angrier, two political commentators from opposite sides of the divide concurred recently on one point that was once nearly unthinkable: The country is on the verge of "civil war."

The Warfare State Lied About Afghanistan, Iraq, & Syria. They Will Lie Again!

Authored by Tho Bishop via The Mises Institute,

This week saw the Washington Post published a bombshell report titled “The Afghanistan Papers,” highlighting the degree to which the American government lied to the public about the ongoing status of the war in Afghanistan. Within the thousands of pages, consisting of internal documents, interviews, and other never-before-released intel, is a vivid depiction of a Pentagon painfully aware of the need to keep from the public the true state of the conflict and the doubts, confusion, and desperation of decision-makers spanning almost 20 years of battle.

Webmaster's Commentary:

At 70, I have a very clear memory of the Vietnam war; many of the young men drafted, who were my friends and sometimes brother and sister musicians, never made it back alive, or were mentally, or physically, or both, shattered beyond repair, for the rest of their lives.

I understood, that the premise under which this horrendous, genocidal war was being fought, had utterly no relationship to what we were told by the TV; Radio, and government-owned writers.

In short, what this US government does, is lie; obfuscate; and throw up smoke screens, so that the US citizens will not, clearly, be able to look at the long view, and see what is really going on.

It is generally the alternative media which does this, although kudos to WaPo, for having published this article, because it states, very clearly, what many Americans have suspected for quite some time now; politicians, in order to keep their buddies in the military industrial complex happy, is "arrange" for this country to be in almost perpetual war. Earnings boom for those companies, allowing them to give even more support to candidates who see the world as they do, financially, and this is their perspective, and philosophy:

1. Destabilize an existing, not-pro-US government with one which is.

2. Make sure that the resources of that country are expropriated by companies with which they are "embedded", for this kind of work, with the people living over or around those resources, getting precious little compensation for them, if any.

3. Insure that the funds in which these resources are sold, are only US dollars.

When Karl Marx made the observation that all wars are economic in their origins, the man was absolutely correct.

NATO Secretary General Targets "Rising China": Why Cold War Newspeak Never Went Away

Authored by Cynthia Chung via The Strategic Culture Foundation,

On December 3rd, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced that NATO must address the “security implications” of China’s rise as a “military power”, and in true Orwellian doublespeak, insisted that he did not want to make an adversary out of Beijing but rather was interested in analysing how best to respond to the challenges China poses in a balanced way…by announcing it a ‘security threat’.

But we know this is not the whole story.

Of course no bully likes it when their victim suddenly learns the art of self-defense, and who would be more paranoid of aggression than those who have been practising it for years on others only to increasingly find the tables turned.

This western paranoia of the communist boogeyman has its roots in Churchill’s Iron Curtain speech which ushered in the Cold War.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In the identification of China as a "security threat", NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has created this state between NATO and China, which was one of the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly profoundly stupid things he could have said.

And forgive me, but isn't the acronym for NATO, supposed to be NORTH ATLANTIC TREATY ORGANISATION?!?

I know that NATO has been keen to re-invent itself, post world-war II, but ...THIS?!?

There is one thing you can still observe about the Chinese people today; the love of trade, and competition is still in their DNA, and I say that as a very positive, complementary observation.

The Chinese do not want a world war; they want world trade, and there is no better testimony to that, than President Xi's "Belt and Road" concept, which streamlines getting goods back and forth from Asia to Europe, in record time, cutting costs, and cutting red tape.

I just wish that Stoltenberg would have not identified China as a threat, but as a great potential business and economic partner; I firmly believe that the road to peace, is economic empowerment; excellent education; and healthy competition.

So Jans (and BTW, we never talk any more!! :-(), in this characterization of China as a threat, you have thrown the country back into the orbits of Russia; the Middle East; and South America; PLEASE don't tell me that this was the "design intent" of your statement here?!?

Because, unfortunately, you 've just "stepped in it", big time, sir.

North Korea Says US Has Nothing To Offer If Nuke Talks Resumed

A week after North Korea resumed its "dotard" insults at President Trump and their ambassador to the United Nations said further denuclearization talks are no longer needed, Reuters reported Thursday via Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) that, even if denuclearization talks resumed between both countries, the Trump administration has nothing to offer:

North Korea's foreign ministry criticized the Trump administration for meeting with officials at the UN Security Council and suggested that it would be ready to respond to any corresponding measures that Washington imposes.

"The United States said about corresponding measure at the meeting, as we have said we have nothing to lose and we are ready to respond to any corresponding measure that the US chooses," said KCNA citing a North Korean Foreign Ministry spokesperson.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The real problem, to which President Trump appears to be utterly tone-deaf, is that issue of "quid pro quo", meaning, "If YOU do something, I will reciprocate by doing something."

But the American posture appears to be, to both Kim Jung Un, and North Korea; the following; "You ... do everything we have asked; then we will consider doing something for you."

This is the absolute antithesis of true negotiations ; and what President Trump may reap from this, is more nuclear North Korean tests, greater North Korean Nuclear capabilities, and more protection from China.

Amazon Ring’s Data Maps Surveillance Network; Jeff Bezos Embraces Fascism with Amazon Military Support

“Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power.”? Benito Mussolini

Jeff Bezos has embraced fascism, criticizing Silicon Valley for employees of companies like Google who don’t wish to work with the military. Bezos made the comments during a Department Of Defense contractor meetup on Saturday at the Reagan National Defense Forum, Defense One reported.

“One of the things that’s happening inside of technology companies is there are groups of employees who, for example, think technology companies should not work with the Department of Defense,” Jeff Bezos said Saturday at the Reagan National Defense Forum. “People are entitled to their opinions, but it is the job of a senior leadership team to say no,” he said.

“My view is, if big tech is going to turn their back on the Department of Defense, this country is in trouble,” he said. “That just can’t happen.”...

Turkey May Close Incirlik Air Base for US Over Sanctions Against S-400 Purchase - Foreign Minister

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Ankara will not abandon the Russian S-400 air defence systems in order to buy American Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said in a statement that Ankara may insist that the US leave Incirlik air base if Washington goes ahead with the sanctions it has threatened in response to Turkey's purchase of S-400 missiles.

"We will assess the worst-case scenario and make a decision. If the US imposes sanctions against Turkey, then the issue of the Incirlik and Kurecik bases may be on the agenda," Cavusoglu said.
The missile attack early warning radar, which is part of the NATO missile defence system in Europe, deployed in the Kurecik region of Malatya province in southeastern Turkey, was put into operation in early 2012. Its functioning is provided for by the US military.

White Helmets Boost Presence in Idlib, Potentially Preparing a Provocation - Russian Special Envoy

Syria Civil Defence, better known as the White Helmets, is a non-governmental organisation registered in the United Kingdom. The group and its activities are widely endorsed by Western governments. Damascus, however, accuses the organisation of extremism and propaganda dissemination.

The White Helmets are ramping up their presence in Syria's Idlib, potentially readying a provocation, Russian President's Special Envoy Aleksandr Lavrentyev, said on Wednesday at a press conference following talks in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.

Lavrentyev added that Moscow is calling on all its partners to carefully assess the information about the potential provocation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

We are barely two weeks away from the Christmas holiday in this country; we may well see a false flag (most possibly concocted by the IDF or Shin Beit) to be blamed against Syria, and ... off we go.

I would like to politely, and strongly, caution President Trump; Secretary of State Pompeo, and Defense Secretary Ester, that fighting against Russia in Syria, would be one of the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly dumb things this government and military could possibly do right now.

Gentlemen, we do not have the weaponry; the troop strength; or the money; or the manufacturing to prevail in a conventional war against Russia in Syria.

And I am issuing a very urgent plea to all three of you; please, really listen to the people you trust to tell you the pure, unvarnished, butt-ugly truth, rather than the people who will tell you "Yes; it can be done", when something cannot be done.

Stage-Managing the Pensacola Naval Base Shooting: Mollycoddling the Face of Evil

As should be expected, the government is attempting to stage-manage the shooting at the Pensacola Naval Base. The Pentagon said sailors killed by a Saudi student reportedly angry over the serial murder of Muslims by the US government “showed exceptional heroism and bravery in the face of evil.”

The alleged shooter, Mohammed Alshamrani, shot dead by police, was a Saudi national said to be enrolled in pilot training the Florida naval base. It is the same naval base linked to the supposed 9/11 hijackers.

Sources told ABC News that investigators are working to determine if the shooter was acting out because of religious or ideological reasons or if there was some sort of problem or hostility that developed in the course of the training at Pensacola.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I have a great appreciation for Nimmo's work, and link to it frequently.

But I think Nimmo may have missed the mark in this article, and let me explain why, and I may tread on more than a few toes, but here it goes;

As long as many innocent Middle Eastern citizens get gunned down on a daily basis, to support US hegemony and the US government continues to give Israel an incredible pass in its pathological inability to "work well with others" in the region, it creates, in and of itself, the potential for this kind instability within this country, allowing violent reactions to these behaviours, to happen.

And please, don't get me started on the US enabling Saudi war crimes in Yemen; I will never finish this post if I go there.

It is exceedingly difficult to "grow up", geopolitically, and discover, surprise, surprise, that the country in which you hold citizenship, has been perpetrating war crimes for resources, for a very, very long time.

I can never, ever condone this type of behaviour from the shooter, but understand how it came about.

I want all who are so inclined, to offer prayers for all who died, and the family and friends of those people, no matter the name of their faith, be they be my Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, or Muslim brothers and sisters who want peace.

And please, as the winter festivals of Christmas and Passover approach, let us, collectively, watch out for each others' backs.

As everyone knows who reads this blog,I am a Christian pacifist activist, and I abhor violence, and never advocate it, at all.

But that being said, that being said, I am very concerned at the US's actions in the Middle East, and beyond, which can be characterized by:

1. Destabilizing what are perceived as "anti US governments", so that US-centric governments can replace them.

2. Expropriating resources to which the US has no moral right, making sure that our "friendly companies" are making the profits from these resources, which rarely - if ever - go back to the people of the country of their origin.

3. Insuring that these resources are only sold in US dollars.

We, in this country, need to have a reasoned, honest, and difficult, conversation, about how we behave toward the rest of the world, and how that behaviour might very well affect our collective safety in the future.

Do people randomly shoot at people from Lichtenstein?!? No.

Do people randomly shoot at people from Andorra?!? No.

Do people randomly shoot at people from Monaco?!? No.

And why?!? Yes, these are small countries, with minor economic clout; but they make deals, rather than wage wars, to get what they want; and that, my friends, is the difference.

Gabbard knocks Trump over handling of Pensacola air station shooting

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) ripped the Trump administration on Tuesday over its handling of last week's deadly shooting by a member of the Saudi military at a naval air station in Pensacola, Fla.

The Democratic presidential hopeful, who has been a vocal critic of the Saudi kingdom, knocked President Trump in an interview on Hill.TV, saying that his administration needs to call the shooting "for what it is."

”This was a terrorist attack that took the lives of three American service members and injured eight others,” Gabbard said during an appearance on Hill.TV's “Rising.”

“We need to call it for what it is instead of what President Trump has done with his own remarks, with Secretary [of State Mike] Pompeo basically putting out messages as though they are the spokespersons for the Saudi Kingdom rather than standing up for our country’s national security and what’s in the best interest of our country.”

The only thing she, apparently, blinks and misses here, is that both Al Qaeda and ISIS.... were themselves created, funded, and trained by US-sponsored entities.

Money, Power, and Turf: Winning the Middle East Media War at Any Cost

Of the 180 countries classified by Reporters Without Borders’ annual report on press freedom, seven Middle Eastern countries are listed at the bottom 10% category of the world’s worst violators.

In 2018, Israel, which often prides itself on being "the only democracy in the Middle East", ranked 88th, a hardly shocking realization, considering its constant targeting, killing, wounding and arresting of Palestinian journalists. The Palestinian Authority achieved an even worse rank, at 137th place. It is telling that not a single Middle Eastern country has made it to the top 30% rank.

In countries like Egypt, Libya, Syria, and Yemen, where independent monitoring of government behavior is almost entirely absent, hundreds of journalists simply disappear in the black hole of brutal prison systems – malnourished, medically neglected, and routinely tortured.

Oklahoma Bill Would Block Unconstitutional National Guard Deployments

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Dec. 10, 2019) – A bill prefiled in the Oklahoma Senate would prohibit unconstitutional foreign deployments of the state’s National Guard troops. Passage into law would effectively restore the founders’ framework for a state-federal balance regarding the state militia.

Sen. Nathan Dahm (R-Broken Arrow) prefiled Senate Bill 1101 (SB1101) last week. The legislation would require a congressional declaration of war before Oklahoma National Guard units could be deployed into combat in a foreign country. The legislation reads in part:

US No Longer Considers Yemen’s Houthis an Iranian Proxy

The Trump Administration has announced a policy change that looks like it could be a major turning point in US policy toward Yemen, announcing that they no longer consider the Shi’ite Houthi movement in Yemen to be a proxy of the Iranian government.

That stance is one initially pushed by the Saudi government to justify the Yemen War, and the US was only too willing to mirror it. This was in spite of the Houthis having substantial ideological differences with Iran, little direct contact, and not being the same type of Shi’ites.

The US did not explain their change in stance, but it may reflect Saudi Arabia’s ongoing peace talks with the Houthis, as the US couldn’t possibly support a peace deal that involved an actual Iranian-linked faction.
