CNN's Chris Cuomo: Trump treats Ilhan Omar's bigotry differently because she's Muslim

CNN anchor Chris Cuomo blasted President Donald Trump for his swift condemnation of Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn while keeping “silent” on Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa.

On Tuesday, the president called on Omar to resign after she suggested on Twitter that Republicans who support Israel are bought by groups like AIPAC.

Cuomo criticized Omar’s tweets and called the question whether House Democrats should do more to punish the freshman congresswoman a “legit question.” He then dismissed the “futile” comparison of her remarks versus King’s, who was stripped from his committees after he defended the terms “white supremacist” and “white nationalist.”

Trump orders government to prioritize artificial intelligence

President Donald Trump on Monday ordered the US administration to give greater priority to artificial intelligence, a move seen as firing up a battle for leadership with China.

The American AI Initiative executive order calls for the administration to "devote the full resources of the federal government" to help fuel AI innovation.

"Americans have profited tremendously from being the early developers and international leaders in AI," a White House statement said.

"However, as the pace of AI innovation increases around the world, we cannot sit idly by and presume that our leadership is guaranteed."

Hands off ‘our hemisphere’ or Venezuela pays the price: US Senator warns Russia

This is pathetic. Without Venezuela and their gold the district of criminals is finished!

The US staked a claim on half the world, as Senate Armed Services Committee chair Jim Inhofe said Washington might have to intervene in Venezuela if Russia dares set up a military base not just there, but “in our hemisphere.”
“I think that it could happen,” Inhofe (R-Oklahoma) told a group of reporters on Tuesday. “You’ve got a guy down there that is killing everybody. You could have him put together a base that Russia would have on our hemisphere. And if those things happen, it may be to the point where we’ll have to intervene with troops and respond.”

ICJ to rule on Iran's legal claim to recover $2bn frozen in US

Tehran says it owns $2bn in frozen assets, but US court ruled cash must be given to victims of attacks blamed on Iran.

On Wednesday, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) is set to decide reach a verdict on a bid by Iran to recover $2bn in frozen assets that the United States says must be paid to victims of attacks it blamed on Tehran.

The ruling threatens to further escalate the dispute between the two former allies and comes after a decision in October when the same court ordered the US to lift sanctions on humanitarian goods for Iran.

Tensions between Tehran and Washington are already high around the anniversary of the 40th anniversary of the Islamic Republic revolution as well as Wednesday's Middle East summit in Poland, which observers say is aimed at isolating Iran.

Trump Calls on Rep. Ilhan Omar to Resign Over Anti-Semitic Tweets

President Donald Trump slammed Rep. Ilhan Omar’s apology for publishing anti-Semitic tweets, saying it was “lame” and called on her to resign from Congress.

Omar went on an anti-Semitic twitter rant over the weekend, prompting a backlash from prominent politicians on both sides of the political aisle. She used a stereotype about Jews being motivated by money, then accused a prominent lobbying group, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), of paying members of Congress to support Israel.

Upon getting heat from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi over the remarks, Omar issued an apology that amounted to ‘sorry, not sorry.’

Adam Schiff Is Trying To Delegitimize Trump by Investigating His Finances

On a Sunday morning talk show, Rep. Adam Schiff, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, vowed to continue investigating President Trump’s finances and foreign connections for as long as it takes.

So, let me get this right: Hillary Clinton, a politician, or to be more specific, a former secretary of State, can sell the Russians our uranium but Donald Trump, a businessman, cannot conduct business in a foreign country, like any other American entrepreneur?

It is evident that the left will not be satisfied until Trump is gone. They must be worried he will win in 2020. How anyone can not see their motivation for launching intensive investigation after investigation is beyond me.

Making Globalism Great Again - Did Trump Fold To The Deep State?

Maybe Donald Trump isn’t as stupid as I thought. I’d hate to have to admit that publicly, but it does kind of seem like he has put one over on the liberal corporate media this time. Scanning the recent Trump-related news, I couldn’t help but notice a significant decline in the number of references to Weimar, Germany, Adolf Hitler, and “the brink of fascism” that America has supposedly been teetering on since Hillary Clinton lost the election. I googled around pretty well, I think, but I couldn’t find a single editorial warning that Trump is about to summarily cancel the U.S. Constitution, dissolve Congress, and proclaim himself Führer. Nor did I see any mention of Auschwitz, or any other Nazi stuff … which is weird, considering that the Hitler hysteria has been a standard feature of the official narrative we’ve been subjected to for the last two years.

‘Russians at the doorstep’: US says Germany must ‘use its leverage’ to keep Kremlin in line

The US ambassador to Germany says Berlin needs to escalate its stand-off with Russia by investing more in weapons, and pressuring it over energy links. Moscow believes that Germany won't submit to American "blackmail.”

“The Germans have the leverage with Russia. Imagine if Chancellor Merkel stood up and said: Because of the Russian behavior, because of the malign activity in the increased offense, we cannot give you more influence by buying your energy,” Richard Grenell, a career diplomat who was assigned to Germany last year, told Welt am Sonntag newspaper.

Capitol Hill Cowards: Why Congress Is Trying to Undermine Trump’s Troop Withdrawal Plan

Afghanistan is America’s longest war, at seventeen years and counting. It has run longer than the Mexican-American War, Civil War, Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, and Korean War combined. Yet Congress has conducted minimal oversight and done nothing as the executive branch’s aim devolved into pushing failure onto the next administration.

In Syria Washington chose to enter a civil war of minimal security concern to America. Syria was allied with the Soviet Union during the Cold War. Washington’s previous forays in similarly imploding Middle Eastern nations—Lebanon and Libya—turned out badly. The executive branch concocted ever more outlandish duties for American military personnel: extirpate ISIS, exclude Iran, confront Russia, pacify Turkey, protect Kurds, and pressure Damascus. Yet Congress never voted on the continual usurpation of legislative power.

US Blockade on Venezuela Has Cost US$350 Billion

According to the study, these economic and financial attacks "are usually the prelude to military intervention."

The Economic Debates Unit of the Latin American Geopolitical Strategic Center (CELAG) released a report on "the economic consequences of the boycott against Venezuela," on Friday, in which it is proved that the "international financial blockade to Venezuela since 2013 is the main responsible for the economic crisis."

According to CELAG's report, the financial and economic blockade that was mainly promoted by the United States, and enforced by its allies, would have cost Venezuela around US$350 billion "in the production of goods and services between 2013 and 2017."

Blocking a country financially is paramount when trying to asphyxiate the national economy. The external attacks are able to undermine the economic and productive capacity of the country, and therefore, destroy the economy. According to the study, these economic and financial attacks "are usually the prelude to military intervention."

KEEPING UP WITH THE KIMS

NORTH KOREA’S LEADER HAS CHARMED TRUMP, XI AND MOON. BUT ARE THEY ALL JUST KEEPING UP WITH THE KIMS?

When Kim Jong-un delivered his annual New Year’s address last month, the scene was unrecognisable from his first speech as leader of North Korea six years prior. Gone were the Maoist suit and lapel pin featuring the images of his father, previous ruler Kim Jong-il, and grandfather Kim Il-sung, who founded the country.

In their place was a suit and tie that would be at home in any office in London or New York. Rather than sheltering behind a podium in an austere auditorium, his voice faltering intermittently as it had before, Kim sat composed in an armchair in a wood-panelled office.

Washington’s Perilous Regime Change in Venezuela Won’t Work Out as Planned

The United States government led by President Donald Trump has entered a dangerous moral universe.

As the cult of regime change in Washington walks farther and farther down a destructive path where they see one another only, and as their new adventure in Venezuela points for yet another geopolitical and humanitarian disaster, just like what happened in Syria and Yemen, they will end up having abandoned some of their self-styled fundamental claims about morality, human rights, respect for fundamental norms of international law.

In making their pitch, they have forced more than a dozen European countries to recognize the head of Venezuela’s National Assembly, Juan Guaidó, as the country’s legitimate president. In lockstep with the US, Guaidó has asserted that the time for dialogue is over. His intransigent opposition to negotiations is perhaps another reason to question his motives. This comes despite continued United Nations, Chinese and Russian support for Nicolás Maduro’s government and national dialogue.

There is no question that Venezuelans are suffering and some even want to see a change in governance. But that has to come through national dialogue and democratic means and not foreign-instigated regime change>>>

Today’s administration would seem unwholesome in a New York bus station at three in the morning. They are not normal American politicians.

In particular they seem to be pushing for war with Iran, China, Russia, and Venezuela. And–this is important–their behavior is not a matter of liberals catfighting with conservatives. All former presidents carefully avoided war with the Soviet Union, which carefully avoided war with America.

Pinkerton: Cuomo & Northam vs. Trump — the Democrats’ Abortion Extremism Brought the Life Issue Back to Life

To put it mildly, throughout his public career, Donald Trump has not always been seen as a champion of the pro-life cause. However, his career is not over yet—and in fact, a sudden cascade of events is making him into a pro-life stalwart, as the Right to Life movement makes its biggest comeback in decades.

Ironically, the renewed prominence of the anti-abortion cause has been the doing of pro-abortion Democrats. On January 22, New York governor Andrew Cuomo signed into law the Reproductive Health Act, which fully allows for abortions after 24 weeks of pregnancy; that is, right up to the moment of birth. Critics dubbed the bill “infanticide,” recalling the words of former New York’s former Democratic senator, Daniel Patrick Moynihan, who, back in the 1990s, said that such a procedure “is as close to infanticide as anything I have come upon.”

Secret Service ‘Aware’ of Former ESPN Host Jemele Hill’s Assassination Tweet

On Tuesday night, former ESPN host and current Atlantic writer Jemele Hill, tweeted an assassination reference during President Trump’s State of the Union Address. On Wednesday, we found out the Secret Service is “aware” of Hill’s tweet, and stands by their obligation to “investigate all threats related to our protectees.”

“While the Secret Service is aware of the subject’s comments, we cannot confirm or comment on the absence or existence of specific investigations. We can say, however, the Secret Service investigates all threats related to our protectees,” the Secret Service told the Washington Examiner in an email.

The trouble began when Hill responded to remarks from another Twitter user during the SOTU.

Trump’s at War with U.S. Intelligence – and (for Once) He’s Right

In the TV show Designated Survivor, Kiefer Sutherland plays a neophyte president, Tom Kirkman, who tries to bring decency and common sense to the Oval Office after a terrorist attack has wiped out most of the US government.

In one episode in the second season, President Kirkman is dealing with the loss of someone close to him. As a result, he has become distracted and indecisive. After a rebel force seizes a US trade delegation in a foreign country, the president vacillates about using military force to free the hostages. He decides, against the recommendations of all his advisors, to pay a ransom to get the Americans released.

“The old Tom Kirkman would have advocated military force,” one of his advisors says. “In the last six months, he’s withdrawn 50 percent of our troops from Iraq and Syria. He’s introduced a bill to double the budget for Homeland Security. And now ransom.”

The Ministry of Defense (MOD) summoned the US military attaché in Moscow on Wednesday to hand him the treaty-related memo.

The Russian side suggested that the Americans “return to strict compliance” with the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty before it expires in six months.

Pelosi Vows No Government Shutdown, Will Work With Trump on Everything Except Wall

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi vowed that come February 15th, the deadline for funding the federal government, House and Senate lawmakers would work out a deal to avoid another government shutdown.

Pelosi engaged in a half-hour interview with Politico on Wednesday, confidently predicting there would not be a shutdown, even as President Trump continues to dig his heels in on demands for funding a wall at the southern border.

“There will not be another shutdown,” she insisted. “No, it’s not going to happen.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Pelosi is letting her ego get the best of her. She is out to prove that she and not Trump, runs the administration!

US Plans to Approach Iranian Borders in Cooperation with ISIL

Hashd Al-Shaabi Commander: US Plans to Approach Iranian Borders in Cooperation with ISIL
A senior commander of Hashd al-Shaabi (Iraqi popular forces) warned that the US in collaboration with the ISIL terrorists has hatched plots to approach the strategic bordering regions with Iran.

***
Al-Ma'amouri said that the ISIL has increased efforts to infiltrate into regions near Khaneqein at the Iraqi-Iranian borders after Trump declared withdrawal of forces from Syria, adding that the US forces want to find a foothold in certain parts of Hawz Hamrin by creating tensions in the region.

He stated that all Iraqi groups have voiced opposition to this measure, noting that Hashd al-Shaabi will not allow the US to deploy in Diyali and Cobra base.

In relevant remarks last month, a senior commander of Hashd al-Shaabi in al-Anbar province warned that the US forces are attempting to provoke the Iraqi popular forces into starting war against them.

Trump Fears Schiff Is Recruiting White House Employees for Probe

Donald Trump believes House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff is trying to hire White House employees to gain an edge in his investigation of foreign attempts to influence the president, people familiar with the matter said.

Schiff has hired one former career official at the National Security Council, Abigail Grace, who left the White House last year, the people said. She has a congressional email address and is listed in a directory as working for the Intelligence Committee’s Democratic majority.

A second career employee detailed to the Trump White House is also considering joining Schiff’s staff, according to people familiar with the matter. They didn’t identify the person.

‘Neo-con wine in an America First bottle’: Foreign policy analysts rail against Trump’s SOTU address

Donald Trump’s State of the Union speech sent mixed messages about where the president stands on foreign policy, analysts told RT, as his anti-intervention views clash with his threats against Iran and Venezuela.

While the commander-in-chief praised US troops serving in Afghanistan and Syria as having “fought with valor,” he gave little indication of a timeline for a possible pull-out from the region, despite previous sentiments to the contrary. The omission did not sit well with analysts.

Michael Maloof, a former Pentagon official, told RT that Trump’s failure to provide specifics about a withdrawal timeline from the warzones was disappointing – especially because the president had earlier indicated that troops would be returning home in the near future.

US blocks UN statement criticising Israeli expulsion of monitors from Hebron

The United States has blocked a draft United Nations Security Council statement on Wednesday that would have expressed regret at Israel's decision to eject a foreign observer force from the Palestinian city of Hebron, diplomats said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said last week he would not renew the mandate of the Temporary International Presence in Hebron (TIPH), accusing the observers of unspecified anti-Israel activity.

Norway, which has headed the multi-country observer mission for the past 22 years, said: "The one-sided Israeli decision can mean that the implementation of an important part of the Oslo accords is discontinued."

The Hill's Morning Report - House Dems prepare to swamp Trump with investigations

As one investigation around President Trump appears to be winding down, others are ramping up, all but ensuring that a cloud of investigations will hang over the administration for the entirety of Trump’s first term in office.

CNN reports that criminal prosecutor Scott Meisler is departing special counsel Robert Mueller’s team, the latest sign that “the special counsel is winding down the investigation,” although speculation is swirling around several “uncharged individuals” referenced in court filings (CNN).

Over the past two weeks, acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), who was closely tied into the investigations as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee in the last Congress, have indicated that a final report from Mueller could be coming soon.

Enter Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the new chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, who has been staffing up with lawyers and investigators.

Israel paper: US interfering in polls to help Netanyahu?

An Israeli paper speculates that the administration of US President Donald Trump could be meddling in Israel’s elections to help secure a win for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In a report on Tuesday, The Jerusalem Post raised the suspicion after Trump shared a photo directly from Netanyahu’s Instagram account, which showed an election poster made by Netanyahu’s ruling Likud party of the two shaking hands and smiling.

The advertisement captioned “Netanyahu: In a different league” prompted similar criticism after first showing up in Tel Aviv.

It has now turned up elsewhere across streets in the Israeli-occupied territories, said Arutz Sheva on its website.

The Jerusalem Post further pointed to the large numbers of likes and comments under Trump’s share, saying this raised “concerns about election interference.”

Trump’s Absurd Claim that Americans Are Free from Government Coercion

By James Bovard

In his State of the Union address Tuesday night, President Trump received rapturous applause from Republicans for his declaration: “America was founded on liberty and independence — not government coercion, domination, and control. We are born free, and we will stay free.” But this uplifting sentiment cannot survive even a brief glance at the federal statute book or the heavy-handed enforcement tactics by federal, state, and local bureaucracies across the nation.

In reality, the threat of government punishment permeates Americans’ daily lives more than ever before...

Stone-faced Nancy Pelosi READS her way through Trump's State of the Union as he lectures Democrats on Mueller, illegal immigration and 'socialism'

Speaker Nancy Pelosi was visibly unamused during President Donald Trump's State of the Union speech Tuesday night, frowning, biting her cheeks, rolling her eyes and pursing her lips throughout the night when he mentioned ideas her party disagrees with.

At other times she read along with the president's remarks, holding up her print out of his speech in view behind him as he spoke on the dais before her.

She smiled at times as she read along but also kept her poker face firmly in place at others. Her jaw shift multiple times during the night as her eyes darted around the House chamber instead of focusing on the president before her.

White House Sees No Need to Balance Pro-Israel Bias on Peace Plan

While the details of President Trump’s “deal of the century” peace plan for Israel and the Palestinians are still secret, officials offered some spoiler alerts, saying that the White House feels no need to try to offer a balanced plan, or do anything to show themselves to be honest brokers.

Instead, they say the administration wants to underscore that it is “proudly supportive of Israel,” and feels no need to balance the peace proposal with anything that the Palestinians might want, because they don’t see an “equivalency” between the two.

Trump SOTU Post-Mortem: "Tonight, I Ask You To Choose Greatness"

As expected, his tone has been largely conciliatory, despite delivering the speech to a divided Congress for the first time since his inauguration. And the bonhomie could be felt across the aisle, as lawmakers from both parties stood and delivered a standing ovation to the president as he walked up to the House rostrum. For roughly one-third of the lawmakers in attendance, this is the first SOTU they have ever attended.

Trump started his speech by saying he stood ready to work with both parties to fulfill our nation's "unlimited potential", and that he hoped "we can work together not as two parties, but as one nation." As telegraphed ahead of the speech, Trump described his agenda "not as a Republican agenda, or a Democrat agenda, but as an agenda for the American people."

And that agenda is...

Reduce the costs of health care and price of prescription drugs.
Immigration that is safe lawful and secure
And pursue a foreign policy that puts Americans first.

Trump’s State of the Union Earned Monster Positive Reviews

It’s not often we get to say President Donald Trump earned rave reviews for anything – but Trump earned near-universal praise for his State of the Union speech Tuesday evening.

Despite a media that will no doubt quibble over every word and phrase, and even revise their take and the general feeling of the American people days afterward, Trump earned high marks for the speech before Congress.

The address earned ovation after ovation from his Republican colleagues but was probably most notable for actually getting Nancy Pelosi to applaud several times, for Democrat women standing up and celebrating the successes of their gender under this administration, and even an off-script moment where the entire chamber sang Happy Birthday to a Holocaust survivor, conducted by the President himself.

US support of ‘dictators, butchers & extremists’ ruined Middle East – Iranian FM on Trump’s SOTU

Takeaways From Trump’s 2019 State of the Union Address

For more than a month, Mr. Trump has threatened to invoke a state of emergency along the southern border with Mexico, in an attempt to circumvent Congress, which has refused to give him $5.7 billion for a border wall.

But it was not until this week that Senate Republicans — many of whom vehemently oppose the idea on the grounds that it tramples legislative prerogative — made it clear that diverting funding from other projects for a wall, in the name of a national emergency, was a nonstarter.

For the moment, Mr. Trump heeded their wishes. The emergency declaration was not among his demands for increased border security.

It was, to a significant degree, an act of political self-protection.

US Revives Cold War "Arms Race" With Russia And China After Abandoning INF Treaty

As we previewed below, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has announced that the US will withdraw from the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces treaty immediately, prompting threats of a Russian "response" from Moscow.

“The United States needs to stay out of Venezuela,” Gabbard tweeted.

Quitting INF: US Likely to Develop New Missiles to Counter China – Scholar

The US’ seeming unwillingness to turn a sympathetic ear to Russia's reasoning with regard to the 1987 INF Treaty could be not connected with Moscow's alleged violations of the pact, scholars told Sputnik, commenting on the Russian Ministry of Defence's presentation of the 9M729 missile, which was snubbed by NATO officials.

The primary motivation behind Donald Trump's decision to pull out of the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty is that China is not a participant of the pact, says Rajeswari Pillai, senior fellow? and head of the Nuclear and Space Policy Initiative? Observer Research Foundation.

Speaking to Sputnik, Pillai pointed out that both Russia and the US have repeatedly accused each other of violating the treaty. However, "the real problem with the INF is not so much about the violations by Russia and the US, but that China is outside the treaty", he suggested.

Democrats Are in a Blind Panic Over Schultz White House Run That Would Re-Elect Trump

Democrats are beginning to panic over a presidential run by Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz because it would almost guarantee Donald Trump’s re-election in 2020.

With Dems increasingly becoming the party of radical leftism, Schultz says that he is seriously considering running so that he can represent “moderates,” with the CEO asserting that both major parties are being taken over by extremists.

This isn’t just an idle threat – Schultz has already spent many months preparing to announce his campaign, “deploying more than six national polls and laying the groundwork for paid advertising that could debut in the next two months,” according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Trump would only have to capture around 40% of the vote if Schultz ran as an independent because a well funded campaign by the Starbucks CEO could see him net 10-20% of the vote, the vast majority of whom would otherwise have voted Democrat.

Executive time is a blanket phrase used to allow flexibility for whatever the President may feel is of importance at the moment, but the mainstream media likes to imply it means he’s sitting around “tweeting, phoning friends and watching television.”
