Escobar: How The Houthis Overturned The Chessboard

Authored by Pepe Escobar via The Saker blog,

The Yemeni Shiite group’s spectacular attack on Abqaiq raises the distinct possibility of a push to drive the House of Saud from power.

Houthi striking capability – from drone swarms to ballistic missile attacks – has been improving remarkably for the past year or so. It’s not by accident that the UAE saw which way the geopolitical and geoeconomic winds were blowing: Abu Dhabi withdrew from Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman’s vicious war against Yemen and now is engaged in what it describes as a “peace-first” strategy.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That it was not expected that the Houthis could ever fight back, and in such an intensely destructive fashion, may have been the most spectacular failure of imagination, on the part of both American, and Saudi, intelligence.

Unfortunately, this moment of awareness has not stopped the US and Saudi Arabia from continuing to blame Iran (a convenient whipping boy, due to its oil wealth (and a product which they refuse to sell in US dollars) and general stability in the region.

I would like to politely suggest that both countries examine the statement of a Russian diplomat at the end of a consortium, stating the following:

Iran won't be alone if the US attacks it

This was stated by Iranian diplomat Zamir Kabulov, the Foreign Ministry’s special envoy for Asian countries including Iran, at a Russian-Iranian policy forum in Moscow.

I would strongly caution both the US and Saudi Arabia that this came down from the "big guy" himself, in Russian Politics, President Putin; I would also strongly caution both countries, that Putin meant what Kabulov stated.

How a war between Russia and the US would kill 34MILLION in hours: Horrific simulation shows countries obliterated by carpet of atomic bombs

Researchers have developed a terrifying simulation that shows how an escalating nuclear war between the United States/NATO and Russia would play out.

The model — based on realistic data on nuclear force postures, targets and causality estimates — predicts that 34.1 million people would die within hours.

The catastrophic conflict would leave another 55.9 million injured — figures which do not include subsequent deaths from nuclear fallout and other effects.

In the first three hours alone, Europe would be devastated and an estimated 2.6 million people would be either killed or injured.

The following 90 minutes would see key cities in both the US and Russia hit with 5–10 nuclear bombs each, leaving another 88.7 million dead or injured.

Blunders eroded US military edge in Pacific

The United States Studies Center at the University of Sydney recently issued a report: “Averting Crisis: American Strategy, Military Spending and Collective Defense in the Indo-Pacific.” Averting Disaster would be a better title. The crisis is already here.
Much of the press coverage focuses on the PLA’s ability to launch a sudden, devastating missile strike against vulnerable US bases in the region. But the problems go beyond China’s formidable missile force. Rather, Chinese advances are across the military spectrum: surface ships, fighters and bombers, submarines and anti-submarine warfare, cyber and outer space warfare. Beijing is figuring out how to put it all together – and operating far from Chinese territory.
In simple language: The US could have a hard time in a fight – and might not win. A far cry from years of assumed American superiority over the PLA.

HomeWorld NewsPutin to Saudi Arabia: Our air defenses can protect you, like they do Turkey and Iran

Russian President Vladimir Putin has suggested Saudi Arabia should buy Russian air defense systems to protect its oil facilities from drone attacks, pointing to Iran and Turkey, who operate S-300 and S-400 missiles, respectively.

“Saudi Arabia needs to make a smart decision, as Iran did by buying our S-300, and as Mr. Erdogan did by deciding to buy the most advanced S-400 Triumph air defense systems from Russia,” Putin told reporters in Ankara on Monday. “These kinds of systems are capable of defending any kind of infrastructure in Saudi Arabia from any kind of attack.”

Putin was answering a question about the recent drone attack on Saudi Arabian oil facilities, which Washington has blamed on Iran, though Yemen’s Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility. A coalition led by Saudi Arabia invaded Yemen in 2015 and has fought the Houthis there since.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Putin has got to be laughing himself to sleep these days; not only has he one-upped Trump, in terms of his engineers producing weaponry far superior than that which the US works to sell, but also, in reaching out to disaffected former "friends" of the US, against which this country has turned, he is creating a power and economic base, such as the world has never seen.

3 US Targets in Region Attacked If IRGC Downing of Spy Drone Responded – IRGC Commander By wmw_admin on September 16, 2019

As tensions mount over alleged Iranian involvement in the attack on the Saudi oil facility, the statements from the IRGC commander below are meant as a warning to America. In other words General Amir Ali Hajizadeh is saying to Trump, mess with us and you will pay a heavy price.

US Bases surrounding Iran. All within easy reach of Iran’s surface-to-surface missiles. Click to enlarge

Will Trump heed these warnings? Or will he comply with the demands of the Saudis, the Zionists and U.S. hawks and sacrifice more U.S. lives needlessly?
We write that because things are not unfolding quite as Anglo-American-Zionist elite had planned. So instead of an apocalyptic conflict, which would enable them impose martial law across the West and expand their global dominion, a military clash with Iran might entail a series of limited, lesser engagements.

Donald Trump's Neocon Conversion was Predictable

During the election, I wrote a little ebook titled “Donald Trump’s War on Islam.” In addition to pointing out Trump’s pandering to Islamophobia, I wrote about his association with a number of neocons, including Frank Gaffney and John Bolton, who is now his national security adviser. “I think John Bolton’s a good man,” Trump told the Hugh Hewitt Show.

“I watched him yesterday, actually, and he was very good in defending me in some of my views, and very, very strong. And I’ve always liked John Bolton. Well, we are thinking about it, Hugh [nominating Bolton as secretary of state]. I will say that. We are thinking about it. I mean, the negative is what I told you. But we are seriously thinking about it.”

TRUMP IS A NEOCON WARHAWK 'RAPIST'

Trump's foreign policy advisers are Neocon warhawks.

Donald Trump - A NeoCon War Hawk.

Like most conmen politicians, Trump is all things to all men.

Trump tries to appeal to the non Neocons, but, Trump is a Neocon.

The Neocon's current policy is to get their assets to pretend to admit that Iraq was not a wild success.

But, secretly, the Neocons are going to continue to destabilise countries such as Iraq.

Trump's five-member foreign policy team is in bed with the military industrial complex.

FLASHBACK: TRUMP IS A NEOCON

I went to bed at 9:30 last night and woke up to this bullshit. I was disappointed in Trump adding all those Goldman Sachs scumbags as his advisors. I was disappointed he supported Obamacare lite rather than repealing and replacing it. His tax plans look to be dead on arrival. Now, the guy who ran as a non-interventionist, like his two predecessors, has been co-opted by the neo-cons and the military industrial complex. Syria has never posed a threat to the security of the United States. They posed a threat to the Saudi pipeline to Europe. Assad didn’t gas those people. This was a false flag by the “moderate” rebels.

Imran Khan sends ominous warning he would be willing to use nuclear weapon on India if Pakistan were losing a conventional war

Imran Khan says there is 'every possibility' that India and Pakistan could end up in a nuclear war as the arch-enemy neighbours square off over the disputed Kashmir region.

The Pakistani prime minister insisted that he would never start a war, but added that if war broke out his countrymen would never accept surrender to India either.

'When a nuclear-armed country fights to the end, to the death, it has consequences,' he said.

Nuclear War With Russia "Winnable" Said Trump's Incoming National Security Advisor

Incoming National Security Advisor, Charles Kupperman, made the claim Nuclear War With USSR Was Winnable.

He made those statements in the 1980s. I do not know his views today, but let's review what he said then.

President Donald Trump’s acting national security adviser, former Reagan administration official Charles Kupperman, made an extraordinary and controversial claim in the early 1980s: nuclear conflict with the USSR was winnable and that “nuclear war is a destructive thing but still in large part a physics problem.”

Kupperman, appointed to his new post on Tuesday after Trump fired his John Bolton from the job, argued it was possible to win a nuclear war “in the classical sense,” and that the notion of total destruction stemming from such a superpower conflict was inaccurate. He said that in a scenario in which 20 million people died in the U.S. as opposed to 150 million, the nation could then emerge as the stronger side and prevail in its objectives.

Trump says 'not fair' that U.S. can't sell F-35s to Turkey

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday it is “not fair” to either Turkey or the United States that Washington cannot sell Ankara billions of dollars worth of F-35 fighter jets after it bought a Russian air defense system.

Turkey started taking delivery of Russia’s S-400 air defense system last week in defiance of U.S. warnings that doing so would mean the Pentagon would kick it out of the F-35 stealth fighter program and that it could be subject to sanctions.

Washington’s concern is that deploying the S-400 with the F-35 would allow Russia to gain too much inside information of the stealth system.

Buying military equipment from Russia also leaves the NATO member liable to U.S. sanctions retribution under a 2017 law known as the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act, or CAATSA.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. President, please, stop with the bloody whining, already!!

And talk to your good buds at the major defense departments companies who love your administration, in light of the reality that you have so vigorously taken up the mantle of "Merchant of Death in Chief" in their behalf, and tell them to fix the problems, which make US weaponry less competitive than that of Russia and China, OR ELSE!!!

Of course, Mr. President, you have utterly no desire to do this, nor will you, against your campaign contributors, who most likely will arrange for your 2020 victory as a "slam dunk".

So, the problems with American weapons will never, really get fixed; and it will be our kids in uniform who may well suffer and die because of this.

Were I the President, sir, I would never want this on my conscience or soul, that I had done nothing to protect American military from weaponry which should have been fixed, but was not; and yet, these people are the most likely going to be victims of flawed US weaponry.

US, Israel negotiating mutual defense treaty: Trump

This is very dangerous. This is how WW1 and WW2 got started.

US President Donald Trump has confirmed on Twitter that he has spoken to his Israeli counterpart Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the prospects of signing a mutual defence treaty.

Saying such a pact would “further anchor the tremendous alliance between our two countries,” Trump said he looked “forward to continuing those discussions after the Israeli Elections,” during a meeting at the upcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Nuclear War With Russia "Winnable" Said Trump's Incoming National Security Advisor

Authored by Mike Shedlock via MishTalk,

Questioning “mutual assured destruction,” Charles Kupperman called nuclear conflict “in large part a physics problem.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Forgive me, but is being barking-dog mad, science-challenged, and pig-headedly wrong, now three prerequisites for attaining the US's office of National Security Advisor?

And if one will note, his school background Bio: Charles Kupperman shows absolutely no studies in nuclear physics, or nuclear energy. He has been, in previous administrations, in various positions where he should have had the scientific knowledge necessary to really handle the positions to which he was assigned, which included the following: 'Kupperman was a foreign policy adviser to Ronald Reagan's presidential campaign.[7] After Reagan was elected, Kupperman joined the Reagan administration. He was Executive Assistant to the Acting Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and then the Executive Director of the General Advisory Committee on Arms Control[8] of the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency, before becoming the Executive Assistant to the Director of the Office of Personnel Management.[6] In July 1986 he became Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of the Office of Administration.[4]

Kupperman worked at two defense contractors, Lockheed Martin and Boeing; he was the vice president for business development for missile defense systems for Boeing and the vice president of Washington Space Operations for Lockheed Martin Corporation.'

And I have to ask, as a person very concerned about the trajectory of US foreign policy, why is it that, when someone leaves the administration in a huff, they tend to get replaced by an individual who is even more to the right of Attila the Hun regarding Russia,China, and Iran than was their predecessor?!?

So Mr. President, I would like to politely suggest that the US needs a Director for a US Department of Science, to advise your Advisors, particularly Kupperman.

I do not know what the brilliant American scientist Michio Kaku is doing right now; Bio: Michio Kaku
but this guy is absolutely solid on the science of nuclear war, and would be a great person to have in your cabinet.

And another person with whom you want Kupperman to consult, is the highly respected physician, Dr. Helen Caldicott. Bio: Dr. Helen Caldicott

Mr. President, please: these are two people who will not tell you "Yes, Mr. President", if both their logic and scientific grounding, tells them that a particular move by this country, would put it on dangerous ground.

And Mr. President, if there was ever a time during your first Administration when you desperately needed people like Kaku and Caldicott, who are invested in telling you the truth, the time for such people to be included, and listened to, is right the hell now, President Trump.

You are welcome!

US ENERGY HEAD TO DISCUSS NUCLEAR POWER WITH SAUDIS ON MONDAYPublished: September 13, 2019Share | Print This

SOURCE: ALJAZEERA.COM
US Energy Secretary Rick Perry said on Friday he will meet the new Saudi energy minister on Monday and likely discuss plans Saudi Arabia has to build nuclear reactors.

Perry did not say where he would meet Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, who took over from Khalid al-Falih on Sunday. But a US official said the meeting would likely take place on the sidelines of an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) meeting in Vienna next week.

The kingdom has so far resisted agreeing to standards that would block its ability to enrich uranium and reprocessing of plutonium, possible pathways to making an atomic weapon. On Monday, Prince Abdulaziz said the kingdom wanted to enrich uranium for its nuclear power programme, potentially complicating talks with the Trump administration on the atomic pact and the role of US companies.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Secretary Perry, a word, please; you cannot deny to the world that Saudi Arabia wants nuclear energy for nuclear bombs, particularly vis a vis Iran.

You have to make whatever agreement the Saudis want stick, because if you do not, Saudi Arabia will get whatever it needs from nuclear-armed Pakistan, no questions asked.

Ah yes, this is JUST what the Middle East needs right now; yet another despotic theocracy with nuclear weapons!!

other markets.Chinese Combat Drones Are Invading Europe To Protect Belt and Road

Serbian Armed Forces have reportedly bought Chinese-built armed drones, could receive the drones in the coming months, Stars and Stripes reported Tuesday, citing local media reports and officials.

Serbia is expected to take delivery of nine Chengdu Pterodactyl-1 drones from now until February 2020. Media reports in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, said follow up orders in 2020 could exceed 15 more.

Stars and Stripes said the sale "marks Beijing's most significant foray into a continent where armed forces have traditionally relied on US and European weapon-makers."

Earlier this year, Serbian President Aleksander Vucic signed several agreements with Beijing to expand the Belt and Road in the country.

Under the agreement, China is expected to construct new power plants, lay transmission cables, and fiber optics, build new railways, and ports in the country.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Serbia wants to join the Belt and Road, and are buying Chinese drones as a gesture of good faith. (Not to mention that Chinese drones may, just, be slightly better than those they could buy from the US.)

So, the Chinese are making deals to get what they want, geopolitically and economically.

And what is the US doing to achieve their geopolitical and economic goals? Waging wars of conquest, leaving the conquered country in shock, awe, and horrific emotional, and financial pain.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?!? Bloody EVERYTHING.

PAM ANDERSON, MEGHAN MCCAIN, AND WAR CRIMES

SOURCE: KURTNIMMO.BLOG

Thanks to “public” education (indoctrination) and the corporate media, far too few Americans understand the founders designed a constitutional republic. Instead, we’re told America is a “democracy”—the ideal of mob rule—and we all have a role to play in deciding who will lead the nation.

This is, of course, nonsense. We are spectators in the bleachers of the three-ring circus of national elections. The state is run by and for the sake of the financial class and transnational corporations. The election of handpicked yesmen (and women) every four and eight years is routinely portrayed as the will of the people.

This is why Donald Trump is a big problem—he went around the political class and made grandiose promises (deep-sixed after the election) and this is why so many Americans voted for him and why the state and its professional careerist class of politicians hate him and want him impeached, even dead.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The pattern, here, has been crystal clear and painfully obvious; destabilize a government not to the US government's liking; replace that government with one that is to the US government's liking; invite corporations the US government likes (and from whom top US political leaders get overt, and covert support for their campaigns); allow those corporations to expropriate resources to which they, nor the US government ,have any moral right; and sell those resources only in American dollars.

Wash; rinse; repeat. I mean, folks, could this be any simpler?!?

Julian Assange was simply "the messenger", about the absolute, metastasizing, core-deep rot at the center of the bowels of power in this government, which is why so many people in power hate him, and want to see him dead.

That said, I do not believe that the deep state in this country will "Epsteinize" him; perhaps, as most likely happened with Jack Ruby, Assange may find himself fighting an "incurable disease", and he will die right before any legal process can begin.

And if you are shaking you head that this could not be possible, kindly read the following: Biological Warfare: Is it possible to weaponize cancer? 3 Answers

The article goes on to state: 'Luckily for us, cells that don't play by the rules as per the above can be killed off by natural killer (NK) cells, which can easily lyse (under normal conditions, anyway) cells lacking MHC proteins.

However- and this is where the potential for weaponization in humans comes in- recent research seems to indicate that NK cells can't just lyse something that doesn't display MHC proteins- they also need stimulation from at least one of a wide variety of surface ligands. If someone was able to make a cancer cell line that selectively knocked out both components in the MHC display system and a wide variety of these NK-activating ligands, that cancer cell line would probably be invulnerable to a human immune system.

Of course, you'd still have to go around injecting people with these cells, which is why it'd make for an awful weapon of mass destruction.'

But... what if you only needed a few dead, and to make the origins of their disease... untraceable?!? Please be aware that US alphabet soup agencies are already light years ahead of other civilian research in areas like this.

NETANYAHU ACCUSES IRAN OF SECRET NUCLEAR WEAPONS SITE

SOURCE: ALJAZEERA.COM
Iran was clandestinely developing nuclear weapons but destroyed a secret site after Israel discovered it, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu alleged on Monday.

Tehran had been developing atomic arms at a facility in Abadeh, south of Iranian city of Isfahan, said Netanyahu. It was the first time the prime minister identified the site after publicly accusing Iran of building a bomb last year while citing a trove of Iranian documents allegedly stolen by Israeli agents from an Iranian warehouse.

"In this site, Iran conducted experiments to develop nuclear weapons," Netanyahu said, adding after Israeli intelligence found out about it, "they destroyed the site. They just wiped it out".

The prime minister did not provide further details on the alleged experiments, or say when they purportedly were held.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. Prime Minister Netanyahu, a word, please.

You have been consistently tossing out absolutely wildly unsubstantiated claims over the past several years, at every forum you could find, in which you have accused Iran, over and over, of having secret nuclear weapons labs.

So please, let the IAEA do its job, and it will; period, end of discussion.

I, and the world, understand that it is precisely 7 days from now, when Israel will have its next General Election, with every seat in the Knesset up for grabs; and this is not lost on people who understand that, due to corruption charges and other issues, you are fighting for your political life, during this period.

And if, sir, you and the IDF are planning any kind of a decap strike against Tehran, to make you look absolutely "war-centric" to the Israeli electorate, I would strongly caution you all to not do this.

I don't know if you, or any of your advisors happened to read the following story, but think you, and your advisors, need to perhaps take another look at it, so I am doing you the courtesy of re-posting: Iran won't be alone, if the US attacks,Russian official says

A US/Israeli decap strike on Iran, with Russia coming in on Iran's side?!?

Sir, I certainly hope that I am not the only one on this planet who cannot sleep at night, considering how such a potential scenario, conveniently right before the Israeli elections, might well unfold.

The other possibility, which would absolutely stun the world, is that you and Iran's Hasan Rouhani, cobble together a peace, trade, and cooperation treaty, forestalling a war between Israel and Iran; of course, that will only happen when pigs discover they can fly, because Israel's government has become superb at manipulating its "fear dynamic" against their own people, so that everything, from killing an unarmed Palestinian child, to creating World War III,can always be justified by that government.

SAUDI ENERGY MINISTER CONFIRMS PLAN TO ENRICH URANIUM

SOURCE: ZEROHEDGE
Among the most underreported but explosive stories of the past six months has been growing signs of Saudi Arabia's nuclear ambitions. But now there are new questions over whether the kingdom's future planned two nuclear power reactors will be limited to purely energy-related and peaceful purposes.

On Monday the kingdom's nuclear energy minister said Saudi Arabia wants to enrich uranium for its nuclear power program, Reuters reports — an announcement likely to hinder talks with Washington over American companies' potential help in establishing its atomic energy program.

"The world’s top oil exporter says it wants to use nuclear power to diversify its energy mix, but enrichment also opens up the possibility of military uses of uranium," Reuters noted.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Golly Gee, Whillakers!!! What could POSSIBLY go wrong with that!

JUST what the US government desperately (doesn't) need more of right now; yet another Middle Eastern despotic autocracy, in the possession of nuclear weapons!! To potentially use against whom, I wonder?!?

Are the Saudis going to sign the NNPT before they begin this development?!? I sure as hell wouldn't hold my breath on that one. Will they allow IAEA specialists to monitor their work in this direction?!? Again, I would not hold my breath on it.

And even though toward the end of this March, President Trump authorized a secret nuclear power project for Saudi Arabia, US Approves Secret Nuclear Power Deal for Saudi Arabia apparently, it was too little, too late, because an already nuclear-armed Pakistan was in serious dialogue with the Saudis about assisting the Saudis with their nascent nuclear program.

We have a story, datelined March of this year, which sheds some light on this possibility:

How Cash-Strapped Pakistan could get Sucked into Saudi/Iran Rivalry

This article goes on to state:

'Saudi Arabia announced $20 billion in infrastructure and energy investments for the cash-strapped country of 200 million, which is currently on the brink of financial crisis.

Many of the projects are located in Pakistan’s impoverished and restive Balochistan region, which lies along the 565-mile border with Saudi arch-rival Iran.'

Pakistan certainly had the means, the motive, and opportunity here to create a nuclear armed nation in Saudi Arabia.

I sense that President Trump absolutely did not see this coming, and has been totally blindsided by Saudi Arabia's desire for both nuclear energy, and a nuclear bomb; I mean, the Butcher of Yemen, AKA Prince Salman, is one of Trump's BBFs in the Middle East, (along with the Israeli Butcher of Gaza, Prime Minister Netanyahu), right?!?

Mr. President, I am sorry, but with the US government's giving so much military and monetary aid to Israel when it is illegal, under both the Symington Amendment and The Mann act (requiring that every nuclear nation become a signatory to the NNPT, and have their nuclear sites inspected, as has Iran), demonstrates to the world, incontrovertibly, that US foreign policy in the Middle East, has made an absolute, necrotic hash of their nuclear proliferation doctrine.

This... is a flustercluck, writ large, Mr. President.

I think that the American people have the right to know, just how you intend on "fixing" this, sir; because it appears to me that the nuclear "Genie" has well and truly left the bottle, and cannot be convinced to return.

US preparing to take on Russia, China by quitting INF: Analyst

The US government’s withdrawal from the INF Treaty arms control mechanism and its push towards upgrading its nuclear weapons shows it is planning to take on Russia and China militarily, an American scholar has warned.

Dennis Etler, a former professor of Anthropology at Cabrillo College in California, made the remarks after the US Navy test-fired four Trident II submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs).

The test launches were carried out by the Ohio class ballistic missile submarine USS Nebraska this week from an unspecified location off the coast of Southern California.

The USS Nebraska received the first series of improved Trident missiles in 2013. Dubbed D5 Life Extension, the missiles have improved range and electronics and would remain in service until 2040s, the report said.

Hezbollah Shoots Down Israeli Surveillance Drone Over South Lebanon

Two weeks after the first significant Israel-Hezbollah exchange of fire since the 2006 war, Hezbollah announced Monday it has downed another Israeli drone in southern Lebanon, The Washington Post reports.

A Hezbollah media statement said the group had "confronted" the Israel drone with "appropriate weapons" near the southern town of Ramiyeh, indicating the small drone was shot down. The paramilitary group now has the drone in its possession.

However, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) denied its surveillance drone was shot down, only saying it had crashed in the pre-dawn hours of Monday morning. The IDF affirmed it had been conducting a reconnaissance mission in the area.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It appears that Hezbollah is gaining quite a large degree of sophistication in terms of taking out Israeli drones; one has to wonder just what Israel's next move here will be, because they have always stated that their military superiority over Hezbollah cannot be overcome.

It appears that Hezbollah... has proven Israel wrong.

US ARMY AWARDS TWO KEY HYPERSONIC MISSILE CONTRACTS

SOURCE: ZEROHEDGE

The race for hypersonic missiles heated up last week when the US Army awarded two key contracts to catch up to Russia and China. After a decade of experimental prototypes, the Army is expected to get its hands on hypersonic missiles that will be fielded in the next four years, reported Breaking Defense.

Dynetics won the first contract to produce 20 Common Hypersonic Glide Bodies (C-HGB) for both the Army and the Navy.

Lockheed Martin won the second, with a $347 million contract to upgrade eight of the C-HGBs with guidance systems, rocket boosters, protective canisters, and a missile battery that can house four Long Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW) launchers.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Upon reading this, I am reminded of a little sign on the wall, of the Band Director's Studio, at Hillsdale, Highschool, which read: "RESULTS: NOT EXCUSES!!"

I hope these companies collectively understand, that time is NOT on their side, in this endeavor.

Duke Compagna, the Band Director at Hillsdale High in San Mateo, was an inspiration to hundreds of kids over the years, as their band director; a gentle, caring Alpha male, who created a really fine band ensemble.

Big Tech, Russia and U.S. Under Fire for A.I. Weapons Programs; Campaign to Stop Killer Robots Coalition Doubles in Size

By Nicholas West

Renewed attention over artificial intelligence for use in warfare (“killer robots”) is being brought to the forefront with the recent Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW) held this past week in Geneva, Switzerland.

The meeting coincidentally comes just one day after a Dutch NGO, Pax for Peace, released a report about Big Tech’s involvement with supplying A.I. systems to the military. Their report, “Don’t be evil?” (PDF), examined 50 companies across the world that are involved. They ranked 21 of these companies as “high concern” with Microsoft and Amazon leading the way...

The New Arms Race Begins: Putin Orders Military To Respond In Kind To Post-INF US Missile Launch

After last Sunday's first ever Pentagon test of a previously banned ground-launched cruise missile with a range of over 500 km in a post-INF treaty world, Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday said he has ordered a reciprocal response, meaning the Kremlin will likely soon conduct its own highly visible land-based missile test.

In his remarks before Russia's Security Council on Friday, Putin was scathing in his reaction to the US missile test as well as American Defense Secretary Mark Esper's recent signalling of a possible missile deployment to Asia "sooner than later". Putin said any planned Asia-Pacific region US deployment "affects our core interests as it is close to Russia's borders".

"All this leaves no doubts that the real intention of the United States (in exiting the INF pact) was to... untie its hands to deploy previously banned missiles in different regions of the world," Putin said.

A US–Russia nuclear war could 'plunge Earth into a 10-year winter' causing plummeting global temperatures and constant darkness, scientists find

Were the United States and Russia to engage in full-out atomic warfare, the consequences would plunge the Earth into a 10-year nuclear winter.

Fires ignited by nuclear detonations would likely inject around 147 million tons (150 billion kilograms) of soot into the atmosphere.

Winds in the stratosphere would cause these soot aerosols to encircle the entire globe within weeks, plunging the Earth into an enduring nuclear winter.

Blotting out the light of the sun, the soot clouds would cause average surface temperatures to drop by almost 16.2°F (9°C).

The experts predict that it would take around seven years for the curtain of soot to begin to visibly clear — and three more for light to return to normal levels.

Pakistan Mobilizing Forces At Kashmir Base Near Line Of Control: Report

India's Business Standard is reporting a major mobilization of Pakistani military forces underway along the border with India, citing government sources which talked to Asia's ANI news agency.

The contested Kashmir region is on edge following India last week taking the unprecedented step of revoking Muslim-majority Jammu and Kashmir's (J&K) autonomous status amid a military crackdown involving deployment of tens of thousands of Indian troops to the region.

"Three C-130 transport aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force were used on Saturday to ferry equipment to their Skardu air base opposite the Union Territory of Ladakh. The Indian agencies concerned are keeping a close eye on the movement of Pakistanis along the border areas," sources told ANI.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Pakistani Prime Minister Khan, I beg you not to do this.

And there are millions of reasons why, including the following reality:

Nearly one million Indians left homeless by landslides and floods

You, and your country, have an opportunity to appear magnanimous, and helpful right now.

Please, re-establish your, and your country's, relations with the Indian government.

For Pakistan to appear helpful, under these circumstances, would be a way to go down a better path to peace and understanding between India and Pakistan; I am asking you to pick the "high ground" here, right now.

And yes, I know it will take a lot of courage on your part, and on the part of your government, to walk down this path; but the alternative, a nuclear exchange between Pakistan and India, is utterly unthinkable, sir.

And I would gently and politely ask you to remember, that in the Chinese language, the ideogram for "crisis" and "opportunity" , are one in the same.

You and your government, as you and your cabinet decide what to do now, in light of these horrific natural disasters India is experiencing, can choose to do some good; please take this opportunity to show kindness to people who really need it right now; and sir, the world is waiting to see what you will do next.

And as a Christian pacifist activist, I am waiting, and watching patiently, to see what your government decides to do next.

Please tell me that it is not more death and destruction; the people of Kashmir have suffered enough, and they need to be granted the right to peaceful self-determination, a concept enshrined in the UN Charter, to which your country, India, and the US are signatories.

Militants Continue Accumulating Manpower, Hardware in Syria’s Idlib - Russian Military

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Terrorist groups continue boosting their presence in the south of the Idlib de-escalation zone in Syria, having recently dispatched there about 470 militants and additional military hardware, the head of the Russian centre for Syrian reconciliation said on Saturday.

"There has been recorded a transfer of about 120 militants of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham* [terror group, formerly known as Jabhat al-Nusra], three armoured vehicles and four pickups with mounted heavy machine guns from the area near the town of Hesh," Maj. Gen. Alexei Bakin said at a briefing.

In addition, the Ajnad al-Kavkaz* terrorist group has sent to the contact line about 200 militants, five armoured vehicles, 10 pickups mounted with weapons and two trucks filled with bombs.

Near the settlement of Knedde, militants have, meanwhile, deployed 150 members of the Islamic Party of Turkestan* and 13 pickups with mounted mortars, multiple launch rocket systems and heavy machine guns.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder; are these militants being funded, armed, and trained by the US government?!?

Because who else has the power, the money at their command, to do this kind of thing?!? Very few state actors, that is for sure.

JEFFREY EPSTEIN TAKES HIS OWN LIFE IN HIS PRISON CELL

SOURCE: RT

Millionaire financier and convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein has died in a Manhattan jail, with law enforcement sources saying he killed himself. Epstein was in custody pending trial for child sex trafficking and for conspiracy.

The incident comes two weeks after the 66-year-old was found “injured and in a fetal position” on the floor of his cell, with injuries to his neck. Epstein had been placed on suicide watch as a result.

Law enforcement sources told multiple news outlets that Epstein had committed suicide on Saturday morning, with his body wheeled out and taken to a New York hospital around 7:30am.

Epstein was arrested on July 6 and charged with sex trafficking and conspiracy. The charges against the millionaire allege that he'd abused dozens of young girls at his properties in Manhattan and Palm Beach, Florida, some of them as young as 14. Aside from the offenses alleged, rumors circulated of further child abuse at Epstein’s private Caribbean island.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Suicide, my ASTROLABE!!

So allegedly, his lifeless body was taken out of his cell, and taken to a New York Hospital, which remains unnamed in this article?!?

Forgive me, but if the guy was already dead, theoretically, why take him to a hospital?!? To cover up how he died, because the US government knew that this particular hospital, would be completely subservient to its wishes, and would not present any evidence, ever, of how the man really died?!?

Apparently, there were enough Russians in Epstein's rolldex (or computer files), to make those in the Russian Deep State sweat, that they characterized this as a suicide.

And one has to wonder; will there be an autopsy, and will the results of the autopsy be made public?!? Not one chance in hell; and let me share why with you; Jewish Morning

The article goes on to state the following:

'Why do Jewish funerals usually take place so soon after the death, and is it OK to wait longer to allow family members to travel?

"Traditional Jewish law requires that a person be buried within 24 hours."

Ever since the assassination of President Kennedy, in an incredible and complex dance between power and debauchery, the US, and Global Deep State, have shown their hands, time after time, because they have, over many years, earned their PH Ds (Washingtonese for: " crud piled higher and deeper") in "public misdirection", both nationally and globally.

And for those ready to swallow this codswallop whole, I have some of Saddam Hussein's (non-existent) weapons of mass destruction to sell you!!

But there may be those who will be sleeping a little more soundly, now that Epstein has been "neutralized"; perhaps the Gruesome Twosome, Bill and Hil?!?

Clinton's presidency, has been the only Presidency to date with a known body count; and please remember: Hillary mightily advocated for the assassination of Moamar Ghadaffi for having had the temerity to think about introducing a gold backed dinar, which would have wiped the floor with the US dollar.

Nuclear threat looms 74 years after Hiroshima, Nagasaki

Aug 09 10:24

The scorched corpses of Nagasaki should be a grim restraint to the chest beating in India, America and Iran

Hiroshima was atomic-bombed 74 years ago on Tuesday, Nagasaki 74 years ago on Friday. Given the extent of the casualty figures, you’d think they’d be unforgettable. But we don’t quite know (nor ever will) what they were.

USA: THE TYRANNY OF THE POLICE STATE DISGUISED AS LAW-AND-ORDER

SOURCE: TRUEPUBLICA
By John W Whitehead – US Constitutional attorney, Charlottesville, Virginia: Enough with the distractions. Enough with the partisan jousting. Enough with the sniping and name-calling and mud-slinging that do nothing to make this country safer or freer or more just. We have let the government’s evil-doing, its abuses, power grabs, brutality, meanness, inhumanity, immorality, greed, corruption, debauchery and tyranny go on for too long. We are approaching a reckoning.

This is the point, as the poet W. B. Yeats warned, when things fall apart and anarchy is loosed upon the world.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As a Christian Pacifist Activist, I find Whitehead's work very definitive of how I feel, about what is going on right now, in terms of how the"kleptocracy", at every level of government, has turned the governing of this "democratic republic", literally on its head.

I refuse to resort to, or advocate, violence in my quest to perhaps awaken some of the people around me; hurting has never been an option for me, as long as I have been able to post to Mike's blog.

But all of us, united, need to bring this country back, peacefully, to the kind of nation our founding fathers (and the women who loved them) envisioned, even with our wizbang, incredible technology which they might not have been able to imagine, in their time.

Truly representative democracy, has never been so critical to this country, as it is today.

The lies of both the past, and the present, cannot be allowed to stand, as the basis for US foreign or domestic policy; every kid in this country deserves the kind of education they would get is they lived in Beverly Hills, or Hamilton New York.

We understand how kids succeed and how and why kids fail; why are those lessons not experienced in a vast majority of schools which do not give kids the tools to succeed?!?

If I ruled this country (not a concept I would ever seriously entertain at 70), logic, and critical thinking, would be introduced in kindergarten, and go from k to 12th grade.

This is not a time for division; it is a time to stand together, as one people, and, realize what a lousy hand this country has been dealt, by its leadership, for far too long.

It is time for the change the politicians in this country do not want to see happen; it is time that this government to actually take care of the people they govern, in a positive, enlightened, minimally invasive, and kind way; it is time for the "feudal warlordism ", which has informed US foreign policy for way too long, to dissolve, and be replaced by a pragmatist policy, which treats all nations with both respect and logic.

And yes, as I type this, I hear a number of our readers groan, and say that I am asking for the impossible; but sometimes, the impossible is actually within reach, if humankind goes about asking for it in the right way; and I am hoping (and praying) that my brother and sister Americans, understand this.

My two great heroes of the 20th century, are Mahatma Gandhi, and Dr. Martin Luther King; they could have chosen violence, as their way to get their voices heard, but both chose peaceful confrontation over violence in a consistent manner. That is why I respect the legacy of these men.

We who support both peace and prosperity, as the best possible outcomes to this nation's future, need to do the same.

The atomic cloud over Nagasaki, 1945

This is believed to be the earliest photograph from the ground, 15 minutes after the plutonium bomb detonated over Nagasaki. The destruction was so incredible that there is no count on how many people died that day. The atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki will forever live in the pages of history as two of the most significant turning points in modern history, initiating the world into the nuclear age.

US Clings to Nuclear Weapons, Despite Worldwide Opposition Since Before Hiroshima

The tragic anniversary of the United States’ detonation of two nuclear weapons over Japan's Hiroshima and Nagasaki is an annual reminder of the short-sighted bombing orders and the normalization of dehumanization. Despite lessons and warnings throughout history, the reliance on and proliferation of nuclear weapons continues to trump diplomacy.

Kevin Kamps, the radioactive waste watchdog at the organization Beyond Nuclear, joined Radio Sputnik’s Loud and Clear on Wednesday to review some lesser-known tidbits of anti-nuclear history on the anniversary of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Why did the US exit INF Treaty? What you’re not being told

Having only just been sworn into the job on July 23, the aim of the tour is mainly to recruit anti-Chinese and anti-Iranian allies that the US can rely on heavily to defend its interests in the Asia-Pacific region. I would even venture to bet that the recent mass shootings in the US, in light of the Christchurch terror attacks in March this year, barely attracted a mention behind closed doors between Esper and New Zealand government officials. Quite a risky contention, but I will find out if my assertion is true in about twenty working days as I have already requested the briefing notes from the meetings.

Merton’s Message Resonates as Nuclear Holocaust Looms

The days of the fallout shelters with their supplies of long-lasting food to nurture us after the bombs had dropped and the school drills with children taking cover under their desks are long behind us. That was back during the height of the Cold War, in the late 1950s and early 1960s, when world Communism was still on the march and only the assurance of Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) was believed to prevent a hot war between the United States and the Soviet Union. Then, in 1964, the great Stanley Kubrick movie, Dr. Strangelove, or How I Stopped Worrying and Learned to Love the Bomb, came out, and we began to come to our senses. We were shown graphically how, through a series of misunderstandings, the nuclear hair-trigger could be pulled and the world annihilated.

ODE TO HIROSHIMA

MacArthur “…no military justification for the dropping of the bomb. The war might have ended weeks earlier, if the United States had agreed, as it later did anyway, to the retention of the institution of the emperor.”

“Albert Einstein…President Roosevelt would have forbidden the atomic bombing of Hiroshima had he been alive and that it was probably carried out to end the Pacific war before Russia could participate.”

THE HIROSHIMA LIE

On this day in 1945, the US military under the direction of President Truman dropped a nuclear bomb on a civilian target killing over 80,000 people instantly.

"New Cold War" Unleashing "Geopolitical Chaos": China Reacts To US Offensive Missiles In Asia

China's Global Times — the communist country's hawkish, belligerent state tabloid — has responded to the Pentagon's Friday announcement stating the US is looking to deploy intermediate range ballistic missiles to Asia "within months," warning "it will certainly trigger an intense arms race in the region."

Its editorial board, long understood as a mouthpiece of the state, has slammed remarks made by US Defense Secretary Mark Esper outlining the new mid-range ballistic missile deployment plans, crucially which came immediately on the heels of the formal collapse of the landmark US-Russia INF treaty, saying American greed and naked drive for hegemony will spark a dangerously unprecedented arms race which will fuel further "instability" across Asia.

The US Should Never Start a Nuclear War

Today, the Doomsday Clock is at just two minutes to midnight – the closest we’ve been to nuclear conflict since 1953, at the height of the Cold War. And unlike in 1953, we know ducking under a school desk isn’t going to save us.

My organization, Physicians for Social Responsibility, was founded to raise the alarm about the health impacts of nuclear weapons and the risks of nuclear war. We’ve researched everything from nuclear winter to what a nuclear war could mean for human health.

So, let us be the first to tell you: The US is playing an elaborate, high-stakes, screwed-up game of chicken with other nuclear-armed countries.

Fort Detrick lab shut down after failed safety inspection; all research halted indefinitely

All research at a Fort Detrick laboratory that handles high-level disease-causing material, such as Ebola, is on hold indefinitely after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found the organization failed to meet biosafety standards.

No infectious pathogens, or disease-causing material, have been found outside authorized areas at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases.

The CDC inspected the military research institute in June and inspectors found several areas of concern in standard operating procedures, which are in place to protect workers in biosafety level 3 and 4 laboratories, spokeswoman Caree Vander Linden confirmed in an email Friday.

The CDC sent a cease and desist order in July.

Defense Chief Sees ‘Rising’ Support for US Fleet in Strait of Hormuz

Speaking to reporters over the weekend, Defense Secretary Mark Esper claimed that he believes there is “rising support” for the US-led naval fleet in the Strait of Hormuz

The US has been pushing that plan for over a month, on the idea that the US would get access to a large fleet to confront Iran, and would only have to contribute about 10-20% of the fleet themselves. So far they’ve gotten no commitments to join the fleet.

Despite Esper’s optimism, the US still has no commitments to join the fleet, though he suggested that some countries might sign up soon, citing 30 nations attending a meeting last week in Florida to talk about it.

Australia seems like a likely candidate, though why Australia would join the US fleet and not the British alternative is unclear. Even then, most nations have flat out rejected the scheme, and Australia’s willingness to consider it at all is still something.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Forgive me for having to ask the obvious, but has Defense Secretary Mark Esper gone completely barking-dog mad, to make a statement like this?!?

France, Germany, and Spain have given a resounding "NO" against this, as reported as follows:

European nations give a resounding "NO", to Esper's suggestion of joining a US coalition

"U.S. Lobbies Oil Buyers and Producers to Secure Gulf Against Iranian Threat
India, U.K. boost ship escorts while France and Spain refuse to join U.S. coalition".

Australian parliament is "thinking about it", but so far, that is the best Esper has been able to conjure.

US Officials Say ISIS a ‘Global Threat,’ But Focus on Africa

US officials are continuing to emphasize that ISIS poses a “global threat,” even though it lost all its territory in Syria and Iraq. While that continues the narrative of an open-ended fight across the planet, officials are also clear the focus right now is on Africa.

It’s not clear exactly why ISIS is being chosen as the immediate focus for US anti-ISIS operations, with so much of a deal being made previously of the group in Afghanistan and Pakistan, but the US is hoping to get global support for the Africa fight.

US officials are emphasizing the substantial number of ISIS-affiliated factions inside Africa in their narrative, though of course, not all ISIS are created equal, and nowhere is that more apparent than in Africa.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Isis is a construct of the US and Israel.

ISIS Is a US-Israeli Creation. Top Ten “Indications”

ISIS : A CIA Creation to Justify War Abroad and Repression at Home

Secret Pentagon Report Reveals the the US created ISIS as a tool to overthrow Syria's President Assad

The more quickly you can get your head around that "bit", the sooner the clarity will come about why the US government is requesting/demanding an international "response" to "the ISIS threat".

When Karl Marx made the observation that all wars are economic in origin, history keeps proving this true.

What the US and its Western powers have been doing, very concretely ever since 2001, is destabilise countries with tremendous resources (oil, natural gas, gold, platinum, molybdenum, etc.), regime change their governments; expropriating resources to which it has no moral right; and insuring that these resources are only sold for the US dollar.

Rinse; wipe; repeat.

Anyone who cannot see this pattern, in the wars of conquest against Iraq; Afghanistan; Libya; Yemen; and various other Middle East and African countries, has not been paying attention.

And when you query bing.com, about Africa's riches, here is the answer you get:
The Natural Resources of Africa, and the article goes on to state:

"Which Continent Is The Richest In Natural Resources?

Oil. It is estimated that 12% of the oil produced in the world comes from Africa.
Precious Metals. Africa has the richest reserves of precious metals such as gold, cobalt,...
Timber. Timber is an essential resource in the construction industry and furniture making.

So is it any wonder that the US is "pushing" the alleged "ISIS threat, pertaining to Africa, as a reason to invade it, and do what it has done to so many other countries around the world?!?

No wonder at all.

It is very, painfully, uncomfortable to recognise that one's government, has consistently committed war crimes, against the people with the gall who happen to live over, or adjacent to, the resources the US government wants to control; but that is the stark reality of 21st century America.

As US Officially Exits INF Treaty, Gorbachev Warns Of "Chaotic Developments"

The Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces treaty (INF) signed in 1987 by President Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev has now officially ended, six months after President Trump issued Moscow an ultimatum to cease its alleged violations.

“Decades ago, the United States entered into a treaty with Russia in which we agreed to limit and reduce our missile capabilities,” the President said during his February State of the Union address.

“While we followed the agreement to the letter, Russia repeatedly violated its terms. That is why I announced that the United States is officially withdrawing from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, or INF Treaty.”

The clock on that timetable has just run out, with the US announcing it has ripped up the landmark agreement.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And can anyone in the US government, please enumerate those alleged "Russian violations?!?

Can ANYONE in the US government spell out for me, just what those violations were?!?

My gut is telling me, that Americans making these accusations cannot even get close to explaining what Russia did, because, perhaps, the President and Military understand how "behind the 8-ball" the US is, even with obscene amounts of money thrown at our weapons developers, regarding the evolution of US weaponry, relative to that of Russia.

U.S. NUCLEAR ARMS PLANT FILES REPORTED MISSING

SOURCE: ECOWATCH

The U.S. Department of Justice won't turn over 60 boxes of files about a nuclear arms plant in Colorado because it says it can't find the files. The missing documents were presented to a grand jury during a two-year criminal investigation that looked into environmental crimes committed at Rocky Flats, which produced plutonium triggers for the nation's nuclear arsenal throughout the Cold War, as the Denver Post reported.

The nuclear plant, just outside of Denver, operated from 1952 to 1989 when it shut down amid the grand jury investigation. While running, it had a history of fires, leaks and spills. Files about the plant, however, have remained a state secret since the grand jury investigation concluded in 1992.

Webmaster's Commentary:

They have most probably been destroyed, and are a sitting heap of ashes on a landfill somewhere.

THE PENTAGON SPENT MILLIONS ON VULNERABLE CHINESE TECH IN 2018, WATCHDOG SAYS

SOURCE: NEXTGOV
The Pentagon last year purchased thousands of Chinese tech products that contained known cybersecurity vulnerabilities, and officials have yet to enact policies to stop it from happening again, an internal watchdog found.

In 2018, the department bought more than 9,500 commercial printers, computers and cameras despite warnings that adversaries could use the products to infiltrate networks and spy on personnel, according to an inspector general audit. The procurements, which totaled roughly $33 million, expose significant shortcomings in the department’s supply chain security policies that persist to this day, auditors said in a redacted report published Tuesday.

Specifically, the Army and Air Force purchased more than 8,000 printers from Lexmark and 1,500 computers from Lenovo, two Chinese companies that national security officials previously linked to the Communist Party’s espionage operations.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The question I have to ask, is why did this keep happening, when the Pentagon knew that there were known vulnerabilities in this equipment?!?

What's wrong with this picture?!?

US-Russian New START Treaty Unlikely to Be Extended - Bolton

The New START treaty was signed in 2010 and is currently the only Russia-US arms control treaty.

Cold War nuclear weapons warped Earth’s magnetosphere – revealing what the true fallout could be if World War 3 broke out

Detonating explosives at heights of between 16 and 250 miles above our planet's surface temporarily distorted the Earth’s magnetic field line.

This directly impacted satellites by damaging onboard electronics and disrupting communications and navigation signals.

Utility companies in Hawaii were strained and several satellites near test sites stopped working.

For years, extra radiation - which is what caused the satellites and electronics to fail - lay trapped inside Earth's magnetosphere, a region surrounding Earth that defends us from solar flares.

The nuke tests were behind some very strange sights in our skies, too.

One triggered an aurora similar to the Northern Lights to appear over the Equator instead of the poles.

The findings, published in Space Science Reviews, is a chilling prediction of what a nuclear conflict might have in store for humanity.

North Korea Fires "Unidentified Projectile", South Korea News Agency Reports

Just as Lighthizer and his band of merry trade-deals-men prepare to head to China for face-to-face talks, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reports that North Korea has fired an unidentified projectile.

South Korea's joint chiefs of staff have confirmed the unidentified projectile's firing from the Wonsan region of North Korea. The launch took place “early morning” today, according to the statement.

Bloomberg reports that South Korean military are monitoring movement and preparing for additional launches.

As a reminder, at the G20 summit in Osaka, Japan in June, Xi urged US President Donald Trump to show "flexibility" and act in a "timely" fashion to ease sanctions on North Korea, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said earlier this month.

Secret Files on UK’s Porton Down Chemical Warfare Base Found in Trash Bin – Report

If the documents ended up in the hands of a malefactor, they would have gained a vast, if somewhat outdated, knowledge of the facility’s security system, including home addresses of the guards and computer passwords.

Top secret documents related to the notorious UK chemical weapons facility at Porton Down were found discarded in a trash bin in a north London car park, according to a Thursday report by The Daily Star.

After the edition was tipped by an undisclosed source about the documents, thousands of pages were retrieved from a public dumpster, reportedly containing highly-sensitive information regarding the chemical facility security, including details of equipment carried by the guards and their home addresses, details about the responsibilities of patrols and even passwords to computers, written in plain text, the Daily Mirror report says.

DEFENSE CONTRACTORS ARE TIGHTENING THEIR GRIP ON OUR GOVERNMENT

SOURCE: ZEROHEDGE

Authored by William Hartung via TomDispatch.com,

When, in his farewell address in 1961, President Dwight D. Eisenhower warned of the dangers of the “unwarranted influence” wielded by the “military-industrial complex,” he could never have dreamed of an arms-making corporation of the size and political clout of Lockheed Martin.

In a good year, it now receives up to $50 billion in government contracts, a sum larger than the operating budget of the State Department. And now it’s about to have company.

Webmaster's Commentary:

When Karl Marx made the observation that all wars are economic in their origin, the guy was absolutely, entirely correct.

Through wars, the military industrial complex makes obscene profits, even with products which are inferior; late to market; and have an incredible, unjustifiable markup; so it is, also, with the banks which loan money to governments to keep the wars going, with loans which are generally usurious in their interest rates.

The only people for whom wars are horrendous, are those who are "press-ganged" into fighting them.

I cannot say, with any certainty, that the US government will reinstate the draft; but were I a betting woman, I would not bet against this happening, particularly if there is another horrific false flag (to most probably be blamed on the "villian du jure", these days, Iran).

And please understand; wars are not about honor, glory, or protecting or preserving the "American Way of Life.", however that translates to you.

Wars are about regime-changing governments, to create governments which are Western/US centric; expropriating resources to which the US Government has absolutely no moral right; and insuring that those resources are only sold in US dollars.

If you take a look at all the wars from President Bush's attacks against Afghanistan and Iraq; President Obama's regime change in Libya ( because Ghadaffi was about to institute a gold-backed dinar, which would have utterly wiped the floor with the US dollar); and President Trump's threats against Iran (for regime change, and its oil wealth), this is absolutely, painfully, obvious.

In my world, patriotism consists of honoring the good that people do for their country, which may, or may not be something they do for money; the polar opposite of patriotism, is milking a government for every cent you can, in the name of defense, when what the military industrial complex generally creates is very expensive "junk" which completely under-serves our men and women in uniform.

As those of you who read this blog consistently understand; I am a Christian Pacifist Activist, who believes that the US government should use its entire range of options, including moral, hard-won, reasonable negotiations before declaring war against another government.

Unfortunately, with the military industrial complex, which needs wars and conflict to survive, and the Deep State so stunningly in control of US foreign policy, this is only likely to happen...when pigs discover that they are aerodynamic!!

The Pentagon’s new nuclear doctrine is scary as hell

The Pentagon is actively contemplating the use of nuclear weapons to win wars that need not be fought in the first place. As expected, opposition to the US nuclear doctrine is almost non-existent in the mainstream media.

DARPA To Put Nuclear, Biological And Chemical Detectors In Public Venues

By MassPrivateI

Can you imagine living in a country that puts surveillance devices in every city and public venue? What would be the first country that comes to mind? China or the United Kingdom, right? What if I told you that the United States has joined their ranks?

A recent news release by the Defense Department's Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency(DARPA) and Homeland Security reveal that they are installing nuclear, biological and chemical sensors everywhere...

Pentagon Chief’s Confirmation Hearing Avoids Any Questions About Wars

As the nominee for Secretary of Defense, Mark Esper is set to inherit just a whole slew of US wars around the world. His long hearing at the Senate Armed Services Committee, however, didn’t spend a lot of time talking about wars.

Or indeed any time. Esper was faced with questions about his history as a lobbyist for a major arms maker, and how that was going to fit in to his potential new job. He was asked exactly zero questions about ongoing wars.

Esper assured Senators that he sees “the big picture,” and his focus was heavily on the need for the Senate to spend vastly more on weaponry for the US military, which would be his job as Defense Secretary, and largely just a scaled up version of his lobbying past.

Webmaster's Commentary:

No one in Congress wants to talk about these endless wars, which President Trump has insisted are critical for the survival of this country, and the reality here, is that NO ONE in Congress wants to talk about these wars, as a way to skip responsibility for them.

Bikini Atoll has 1,000x radiation of Chernobyl decades after nuclear testing – study

Radiation levels in the Marshall Islands, where the US government tested its nuclear arsenal during the Cold War, are even higher than those found in Fukushima and Chernobyl, according to a newly released peer-reviewed study.

The research, published by scientists at Columbia University in New York, found that tests of soil samples taken from four of the islands contain radiation levels that are “significantly” higher than those found at the sites of the two worst nuclear power plant disasters in history, in Japan and Ukraine. On one of the islands, the concentrations of radioactive particles were found to be higher by a magnitude of 1,000.

One particularly disturbing find was the presence of plutonium-238 on Naen, an island in the Rongelap Atoll, some 100 miles away from the test sites on Bikini, Enjebi and Runit. That isotope is not a product of fallout, but is generally associated with nuclear waste, raising the possibility that Naen was used as a dumping ground.

HOW ISRAELI-DESIGNED DRONES BECAME RUSSIA’S EYES IN THE SKY FOR DEFENDING BASHAR AL-ASSAD

How Israeli-designed drones ended up supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is a case study in the complicated relationship between Israel and Russia. Though Russia has been instrumental in protecting the Assad government, which appeared to be on the brink of collapse four years ago, it has also carefully cultivated a military relationship with Israel over the past decade.

After more than seven years of war, the skies over Syria are saturated with aircraft from multiple militaries and armed groups, each pursuing their own goals, including using the country as a weapons-testing ground. American airpower and Kurdish ground forces helped grind the Islamic State’s caliphate down to a tiny pocket before it dramatically collapsed this past spring. Meanwhile, Turkish occupation forces and their proxies are conducting a brutal campaign of repression in the Syrian-Kurdish canton of Afrin.

A lawmaker wants to know if the Pentagon ever exposed the American public to ticks infected with bioweapons

If you've ever wondered if the Pentagon has ever exposed the American public to ticks infected with biological weapons, you're not alone.

Rep. Christopher Smith (R-N.J.) authored an amendment to the House version of the Fiscal 2020 National Defense Authorization Act would require the Defense Department Inspector General's Office to find out if the U.S. military experimented with using ticks and other insects as biological weapons between 1950 and 1975.

If such experiments took place, the amendment would require the inspector general's office to tell lawmakers if any of the ticks or other bugs "were released outside of any laboratory by accident or experiment design."

Were the Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki a War Crime and a Crime Against Humanity?

Was President Harry Truman “a murderer,” as the renowned British analytic philosopher Gertrude Elizabeth Anscombe once charged? Were the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki indeed a war crime and a crime against humanity, as she and other academic luminaries have publicly claimed? A Distinguished Professor of Philosophy and Ethics at Oxford and Cambridge, who was one of the 20th century’s most gifted philosophers and recognizably the greatest woman philosopher in history, Dr. Anscombe openly called President Truman a “war criminal” for his decision to have the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki leveled by atomic bombs in August 1945 (Rachels & Rachels 127). According to another academic critic, the late American historian Howard Zinn, at least 140,000 Japanese civilians were “turned into powder and ash” in Hiroshima.

‘Comical & tragic’ when US officials say arms sales to Saudis are about ‘exporting human rights’

It was truly baffling to hear a grilled US official claim during a Senate hearing that the sales of weapons to Saudi Arabia are a ‘manifestation’ of exporting human rights and open society, an anti-war activist told RT.
R. Clarke Cooper, the US State Department’s assistant secretary for political-military affairs, was grilled during a hearing at the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday. Defending arms sales to Saudi Arabia, he said that the deal itself means more than just selling weapons.

“Our policy is not just limited to arms transfers. It is a manifestation of what else we export: open society, human rights. That is a part of our policy,” he said. The official added that Washington does not cut security ties with partners like Riyadh that carry “so much weight for our interests.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Let me translate this for you, as someone who is reasonably literate in State Departmentese: "Because Saudi Arabia, is, of course, such a resolute haven for human rights, the US government cannot reasonably stop selling US weapons to them."

Upon reading this, I don't know whether to laugh or cry; does this man take every American who reads this for a fool?!?

Let's see how that plays out for real in Saudi Arabia, shall we?!?

Saudi Arabia: Events in 2018

Human Rights in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia laws and punishments.
Featured snippet from the web:

the article goes on to state:

"Criminal law punishments in Saudi Arabia include public beheading, hanging, stoning, amputation and lashing. Serious criminal offences include not only internationally recognized crimes such as murder, rape, theft and robbery, but also apostasy, adultery, witchcraft and sorcery."

Witchcraft?!? Sorcery?!?!

Forgive me, but what century are we in now, please, the 21st?!?

That these laws are still on the Saudi books, is more than a little bit frightening.

For people like R. Clarke Cooper, being able to say such thoroughly stupid things, and not acting as though his hair is on fire, but he cannot smell the smoke, is a real asset in his line of work.

But Clarke, sorry; the "lipstick on a pig analogy" holds very true here, and no matter how much you are trying to spin this as though it were the most moral thing the US could do, this statement reads like codswallop.

U.S. NAVY AND LOCKHEED MARTIN OFFICIALLY INTRODUCE DIRECTED ENERGY WEAPONS INTO WARFARE

By Nicholas West

Nearly 4 years ago, I wrote an article entitled, “Lasers and Electronic Warfare To Be Used in New World of Drones and Anti-Drones,” wherein I detailed the trend toward using directed energy weapons in warfare. Unfortunately, it appears that much of the speculation at that time about whether or not this was merely the military-industrial complex looking to fund more boondoggle projects that would never see the light of day actually has become reality.

Fox News reports:

If swarms of enemy small attack boats armed with guns and explosives approached a Navy ship, alongside missile-armed drones and helicopters closing into strike range, ship commanders would instantly begin weighing defensive options – to include interceptor missiles, electronic warfare, deck-mounted guns or area weapons such as Close-in-Weapons System.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Sounds all well and good, doesn't it?!? Well, it would be, except for the following grim realities:

2019: China deploying directed energy weapons

Images, 2019: Russia is deploying directed energy weapons

So folks, for all the money given to the US military industrial complex, to develop various types of weaponry, why is our weapons community consistently behind Russia and China on these developments by at least one year?!?

As those of you know who read this blog consistently, I loathe war as the answer for the US's geopolitical issues; but when war happens, I would want our military to have weapons much better than those of Russia or China; why is this so damned impossible for our weapons manufacturers to do?!?

And don't tell me, they will need more money to make this possible; China and Russia spend far less on their weaponry than the US government does, and gets far better outcomes.

AMAZON PLANS NATIONWIDE BROADBAND—WITH BOTH HOME AND MOBILE SERVICE

SOURCE: ARSTECHNICA.COM

Amazon is seeking government permission to launch 3,236 broadband satellites that would cover nearly all of the United States and much of the rest of the world.

Amazon subsidiary Kuiper Systems filed its application with the Federal Communications Commission on Thursday last week, saying it intends to cover all of the US except most of Alaska.

"The Kuiper System covers the area between 56°N and 56°S latitudes," the Amazon subsidiary told the FCC. "Accordingly, customers throughout [the] continental US, Hawaii, and all US territories will have access to Kuiper System services. So too will customers in many other countries within the coverage area. The Kuiper System will not provide FSS [fixed-satellite service] in the majority of Alaska, however, because the state's high latitude is outside of the coverage area."

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF Amazon gets the green light on this, it will mean even more surveillance/harassment of American users by Amazon's systems and technology.

NETANYAHU THREATENS IRAN WITH ISRAELI PLANES THAT CAN ‘REACH EVERYWHERE’ IN THE MIDDLE EAST

SOURCE: RT

As tension mounts over Iran’s nuclear program, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned Tehran that Israeli warplanes can strike anywhere in the Middle East, “including Iran and Syria.”

“Iran has threatened recently to destroy Israel,” Netanyahu said in a video clip posted on Tuesday. “It is worthwhile for them to remember that these planes can reach everywhere in the Middle East, including Iran and Syria.”

Netanyahu delivered his stern lecture while standing in front of an F-35 fighter jet at Nevatim Airbase in central Israel. The Israeli Air Force has used its warplanes to strike supposed Iranian and Hezbollah targets in Syria numerous times, most recently pounding the cities of Damascus and Homs at the beginning of July – attacks that left multiple civilians dead. Last year, Israel became the world’s first military power to use the next-generation F-35 in a combat operation, reportedly against Iranian targets in Syria.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These threats, and counter-threats, are absolutely the last thing this region needs.

Netanyahu is pushing, and hyping, the Iranian threat, as though war was something Iran wants, or needs, militarily, which is absolutely not the case here.

Netanyahu understands this, but has been using the "fear card" against his own people for so long, that his behaviour has simply become pathological, at this point.

But faced with a snap election mid-September, his hope is that he can persuade/trick the US and possibly Saudi Arabia, to attack Iran, without personally, or nationally, having to pay either a political, or financial "price", and that he will appear to have "done something" to get him re-elected, no matter the costs to American and Saudi troops in blood and money spent.

We ran a story yesterday, from zerohedge.com, titled UAE's Yemen Exit is a Preparation for Confronting Iran Closer To Home

The fact that this repositioning is happening at all, telegraphs that the the Ziohawkonoids are attempting to move heaven and earth to start this war with Iran just as soon as possible.

There is, however, one 6,000 lb gorilla, napping, draped across the Bosendorfer Grand in this scenario, and that is the presence of Russia.

On 26 June, Foreign Ministry Diplomat, Zamir Kabulov, made the following statement: Iran won't be alone, if the US attacks

Were I any member of President Trump's Cabinet, or Advisory staff, I would definitely take this man at his word.

Netanyahu Compares Iran's Uranium Enrichment 'Small Step' With Nazis' March Into Rhineland in 1936

Tehran announced Sunday that its uranium enrichment levels would soon surpass limits set in the 2015 nuclear deal, and said that Iran would continue to reduce its commitments to the nuclear deal every 60 days until the deal's other signatories meet their commitments.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has blasted Iran's decision to raise uranium enrichment levels beyond the 3.67 per cent limit outlined in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), saying the only possible reason for such an action is the creation of a nuclear bomb, The Jerusalem Post has reported.

Commenting on a report in US media about Iran's uranium enrichment decision on Sunday, Netanyahu said the report seemed to suggest that the move was "not terrible, because it is just a 'small step'."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. Prime Minister Netanyahu, a word, please; this idiotic analogy was absolutely DOA upon delivery.

I would like to politely remind you that when looking at the movement of the Nazis, this was to gain physical territory; not to create a bomb.

And I would like to also politely remind you, that so far, Iran has been within the levels acceptable covered by the P5 +1 agreement.

It appears, to some political analysts in Israel and abroad, you have become a geopolitically "wounded animal", with all the corruption charges placed against you, and you have had to call a snap election, to happen 17 September, because your party was unable to create a quorum.

And nothing is more dangerous than is a wounded animal, or human being.

There are a number of of political pundits professing that you desperately need something major, to plunge into the minds of the Israeli voting public like a knife, before that 60 days is finished, to "seal the deal" of your return to power.
A
And what would be more major than a "false flag", perhaps to be perpetrated against some sort of US military asset, just like Israel tried to do with the USS Liberty, where good men died, because Israel wanted the US government, and the world to believe that it was Egypt which attacked this ship, in order to get the US to declare war against Egypt?!?

What I have just stated, is an historical fact, and not some fanciful work of fiction. 52nd ANNIVERSARY OF ISRAEL'S ATTACK ON THE USS LIBERTY

If it has happened before, there is a precedent; I would like to hope that your "Bromance" with President Trump, is not that of a "Frenemy" in this instance, getting ready to make his move at the expense of both President Trump, and the USA.

Only time.... will answer that question.

Germany, UK Call on Iran to 'Immediately Stop and Reverse All Activities' on Uranium Enrichment

Earlier in the day, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Tehran will in 60 days announce further nuclear obligations it will discontinue as the third step of scaling down its commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Germany is extremely concerned about Iran breaching the limit set for uranium enrichment and urges it to reverse this decision, the foreign ministry said on Sunday.

“Germany – like our E3 [UK, France, Germany] and EU partners – is extremely concerned by Iran’s announcement that it has begun enriching uranium beyond the concentration of 3.67%,” it said in a statement.

Germany will wait for the confirmation from the IAEA nuclear watchdog.

“As E3 and EU we have repeatedly called on Iran not to take further measures that further undermine the nuclear deal. We strongly urge Iran to stop and reverse all steps that are inconsistent with Iran’s commitments,” it continued.

Webmaster's Commentary:

OK, folks, if you didn't know the deal here before; the amount of enrichment the Iranians are talking about is to enrich their nuclear capacities to a level consistent with a nuclear energy plant, and NOT consistent with developing a nuclear weapon. Please check with a science person, familiar with the process, because... this is reality.

And I am hoping that someone around President Trump, with this kind of understanding, will speak directly to him, about the differences in enriching uranium for a power station, and building a weapon; it is HUGE AND MAJOR.

And to President Trump, and Iranian President Rouhani, please; no more insults, no trying to make the other leader look bad and wrong, with some rather inflammatory language getting used along the way.

You are both capable of quite a bit better than that.

Nuclear weapon material worth $72mn seized in a car in Turkey

Turkish police have taken five people into custody over the smuggling of a highly-radioactive substance used to build nuclear weapons and power nuclear reactors. The 18.1-gram haul was found in a car.

Police discovered a vial of the material after they pulled over a car in the northwestern Bolu province. The substance, believed to be californium, was found stashed under the gear stick wrapped in a bag. Officers had to cut the upholstery to get to the parcel, which is estimated to be worth US$72 million.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am grateful that Turkish police made the right call, and apprehended those people who may have responsible for its transport.

But the bigger, uglier picture, is where, and for what, was this material intended?!?

THOUSANDS of pages of docs from UK’s secret lab at Porton Down found in dumpster – media

Files from the UK’s top-security chemical lab at Porton Down were allegedly found in a public dumpster. A former MI5 agent told RT that, if true, it could have been done by a spy or whistleblower.

British tabloid the Daily Star claimed to have discovered thousands of pages of documents from the Defense Science and Technology Laboratory at Porton Down inside a simple wheeled trash bin in a London car park. The publication said that it was initially alerted about the stash of documents last week by “a member of the public.”

The paper shared a photo of its reporter holding a thick pack of white paper as he was standing next to a green garbage container. The documents are dated from the early 1980s to 2017. To back up the potentially bombshell find, the DS provided what appears to be a screenshot of one of the documents, which contains rubberstamp marks signed ‘duty station officer’ and ‘Ministry of Defence’.

Russia Warns US Buildup Risks Repeat of Cuban Missile Crisis

The US withdrawal from the Intermediate Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty is raising concerns in Russia that it would lead to the deployment of land-based US missiles along their borders in Eastern Europe. Russian officials warn this could create a crisis comparable to the 1962 Cuban missile crisis.

This is not a totally unfounded concern. The INF treaty’s dissolution, and the expansion of NATO all the way to Russia’s border indeed would create such a possibility. Russian officials have made clear they would respond to try to maintain deterrence, and prevent NATO having an overwhelming nuclear advantage. Though there are no formal plans for such deployments by NATO announced publicly yet, the Eastern European members are overwhelmingly hostile to Russia, and would endorse such deployments.

Israel will do 'everything' to stop Iran going nuclear: Netanyahu

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday his country will do "everything" to prevent arch-rival Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, during a visit by a senior Russian security official.

"Israel will not allow Iran, which calls for our destruction, to entrench on our border; we will do everything to prevent it from attaining nuclear weapons," Netanyahu said.

He was speaking alongside Nikolai Patrushev, the head of Moscow's powerful security council, whose visit followed weeks of simmering tensions between Tehran and Washington in the Gulf.

NATO Tells Russia To Destroy New Missile Or Face Consequences

NATO defense ministers will hold talks on Wednesday over their next move if Russia doesn't destroy a new missile system that could allow for short-notice nuclear attacks throughout Europe, which the United States has said violates the 1987 Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF), according to Reuters.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg
"We call on Russia to take the responsible path, but we have seen no indication that Russia intends to do so," said Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg at a news conference, adding "We will need to respond."

While he declined to go into further detail, diplomats have said their defense ministers will consider allowing more flights over Europe by nuclear-capable US warplanes, as well as more military training and the strategic repositioning of US sea-based missiles.

A winnable nuclear war? New Pentagon document shows US military thinks so

“Nuclear Operations,” or Joint Publication 3-72, was dated on June 11 and made private since, but not before it was downloaded by Steven Aftergood, an activist at the Federation of American Scientists (FAS). It is currently available on the FAS website as a PDF.

The publication “provides fundamental principles and guidance to plan, execute, and assess nuclear operations.” The rest of it is in the same matter-of-fact tone, even when discussing practical consideration of potentially world-ending weapons.

US wants low-yield nukes to blackmail dissident countries, not to deter Russia – Moscow

US generals are well aware that there’s no way of limiting the use of nuclear weapons in a war between superpowers, so the claim that some “low-yield” nukes are needed to match Russia is an outright lie, the Foreign Ministry said.
Moscow’s statement comes in response to the vice-chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Paul Selva, who vehemently promoted the modification of the warheads on Trident missiles, which are carried on Ohio-class submarines, in order for them to be able to carry low-yield nuclear weapons.

'Alarm bells': Saudi Arabia's nuclear ambitions cast shadow over the region

In sharp contrast to Iran, its revolutionary identity and revisionist tendencies, Saudi Arabia has traditionally been a proponent of the prevailing order and status-quo balance of power in the Middle East.

This seems to be changing under Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, who continues to receive extraordinary support from US President Donald Trump's administration.

Whether it is an attempt to revise the status quo in favour of Riyadh, or prevent it from being revised by others, Saudi Arabia's nuclear and missile programmes are bound to have significant regional implications.

200 Israeli Nuclear Weapons Targeted against Iran

The decision by the United States to exit the Iranian nuclear agreement – signed in 2015 by Teheran with the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany – causes a situation of extreme danger not only in the Middle East.

To understand the implications of such decision, taken under pressure by Israel that describes the agreement as “the surrender of the West to the axis of evil led by Iran”, we must start from a precise fact: Israel has the Bomb, not Iran.

For over fifty years, Israel has been producing nuclear weapons at the Dimona plant, built with the help mainly of France and the United States. It is not subject to inspections because Israel, the only nuclear power in the Middle East, does not adhere to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, which Iran signed fifty years ago.

Deterrence works both ways: Russian diplomat says Pentagon needs to get a grip on reality

The creation and possible deployment by the United States of low-yield nuclear weapons in order to ‘contain’ Russia may actually result in using nuclear weapons, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told reporters.

The senior diplomat expressed concerns over the growing trend in the US, where the term "strategic stability" is used in a very loose way. He pointed out that strategic stability means that the emergence of preconditions for becoming the first to use nuclear weapons is unacceptable.

Israel has 80-90 nukes, SIPRI report says, as Tel Aviv continues to accuse Iran of nuclear obsession

Israel, which routinely accuses Iran of trying to obtain nuclear weapons and pledges to use force to stop Tehran, maintains its own undeclared nuclear arsenal estimated at 80 to 90, according to the latest report by SIPRI.

There are nine nations in the world that currently have nuclear weapons, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) says in its newly released yearbook on the state of armaments and international security. The world nuclear stockpile went from 14,465 at the beginning of last year to about 13,865 this year, the report estimates, as the US and Russia were delivering on their promises under the New START Treaty signed in 2010.

SIPRI: Israel owns 80-90 nuclear warheads

The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) said in a report that despite maintaining a long-term policy of not commenting on its nuclear arsenal, Israel is believed to own between 80 and 90 nuclear warheads.

By the start of 2019, nine countries, namely the United States, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, China, India, Pakistan, Israel and North Korea possessed as many as 13,865 nuclear heads, of which 3,750 are operational and an estimated 2,000 are being kept in a state of alert, the report added.

"THE COUNTDOWN HAS BEGUN:" IRAN WARNS IT WILL BREACH URANIUM STOCKPILE LIMITS IN 10 DAYS

SOURCE: ZEROHEDGE
Iran certainly isn't planning on backing down in the face of Washington's accusations about the country's role in last week's tanker bombings, and as a result, the possibility of a boots-on-the-ground military conflict in the Islamic Republic cannot yet be ruled out. Making an already tense situation infinitely more precarious, Iran on Monday reminded the world that it's preparing to violate the terms of the Iran deal during the next ten days.

By increasing its stockpiles of enriched uranium, Iran is bound to elicit accusations that it's once again working on a nuclear bomb.Tehran has always maintained that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes, but American neocons like John Bolton have warned that this was merely a ruse, and that Iran could target American allies like Israel with a missile.

Webmaster's Commentary:

(Sigh) For a second, I had hoped that this was the polar opposite from what the Iranian government had said; unfortunately, bopping over to www.presstv.com, the pr outlet the Iranian government, this was precisely what they had stated.

Iran's enriched uranium stockpile to surpass 300 kg from June 27: AEOI spokesman

It goes on to state: "Tehran has said it may go even further by July 8 unless remaining partners to the deal -- Britain, China, France, Germany and Russia -- help it circumvent US sanctions and especially enable it to sell its oil.

Kamalvandi said there is still time for European countries to save the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), as the nuclear deal is officially known.

Folks, this is an attempted "power squeeze play" to attempt to insure that Iran's oil gets paid for and distributed, in spite of US sanctions. Europe can either fold to the Americans, and not buy Iranian oil, which will kick this upgrade to uranium enrichment into high gear, or figure out how to buy Iranian oil, with full US sanctions in place.

And remember: the enrichment upgrade about which they are talking, is symbolic only, to demonstrate that they have been playing by the rules all along, as the IAEA has attested, in their reports; because it takes 90% + enrichment to create a nuclear weapon.
Source: Popular Science (Mar, 1950) via Modern Mechanix.

This article goes on to state: "In order to build a nuclear bomb, you need “enriched” uranium. That’s a simple way of saying that you need to use uranium that is 90% or greater made up of the U-235 isotope, whereas natural uranium is 99.2% U-238, which is useless for making things go boom.

Will someone, preferably, someone with a science background, please gently mention this to President Trump, and quickly?!? Because right now, I am reasonably certain the the phone line for his direct-connect to Netanyahu, has Trump spinning, like a turbo-charged, industrial strength top, to advocate in favor of an invasion of Iran.

But Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, a word, please: you have just handed the US, and Israel, the "smoking gun" through which they are going to justify an attack against your country; and trust me, they are most probably not even going to begin to wait until either 27 June or 8 July.

And unfortunately, sir, most Americans have no clue as to what is happening here, because their background in hard sciences has been deliberately dumbed down by an educational system which doesn't want, or encourage, critical thinking, or questioning of the official government narrative. And, unfortunately, this makes the likelihood of positive US support for such an action, increase.

I understand that your economy is really hurting, because of the US sanctions on the sale of your oil; but sir, even though this is largely symbolic, this was absolutely the worst, officially horrible decision you could possibly have made under these circumstances; therefore, I am asking you to please reconsider.

US must show evidence if it wants to claim Russia breached nuke test treaty – Moscow

If the United States accuses Russia of violating a crucial nuclear test treaty, there should be robust evidence backing up those claims, the Russian Foreign Ministry official has said.

Washington on Thursday “assessed that Russia has conducted nuclear weapons tests,” Ambassador Mikhail Ulyanov tweeted. “This allegation was earlier disregarded by CTBTO Prepcom on the basis of data of international monitoring system. Interesting: 2 weeks ago US said ‘probably.’ Now it’s affirmative. Did the US get new evidence?,” he wrote.

F-35 Hit With Cluster Bomb Of Damning Reports As Pentagon Eyes Full Rate Production

Less than 48 hours after Lockheed Martin and the Pentagon reached a handshake agreement on the purchase of a whopping 480 F-35 Joint Strike Fighters, an absolute cluster bomb of stories has dropped detailing significant technical issues with the jets.

Webmaster's Commentary:

To go into full production with a product as flawed as is the F-35 right now, is a really bad decision for Lockheed-Martin to take; as flaws continue to become known, the company's reputation will be well and truly shredded.

CHINESE COMPANY MAKING F-35 PARTS?! EMBARRASSING ‘DISCOVERY’ FURTHER ERODES ‘HUAWEI SPYING’ HYSTERIA

SOURCE: RT
After a Chinese company was found manufacturing circuit boards for the F-35 jet, the UK Ministry of Defense insisted there is nothing to worry about, rendering the fuss over omnipresent Beijing spies increasingly silly.
Exception PCB, a Chinese-owned company based in Gloucestershire, England, manufactures the circuit boards that control the engines, lighting, fuel and navigation systems of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, the most expensive weapons system ever made. While the UK’s Ministry of Defense insists the company is an established supplier to the defense industry and presents “no risk,” months of flogging the China-spying narrative have done their job, and UK media and politicians are up in arms over this “shocking revelation.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

LORD, PLEASE MAKE ... THIS IDIOCY STOP, AND I MEAN THE US PERSECUTION OF HUAWEI .

House Panel Approves $733 Billion Military Bill, Drops Low-Yield Nukes

The House Armed Services Committee has passed a $733 billion version of the annual military spending bill. The vote was 33-24, largely along party lines, and will send this version to the House floor for a vote.

Once the House passes a version of this bill, it must be reconciled with the Senate version. That’s going to be a big job this year, as there are some major differences in the bills on some key subjects of debate.

One of the biggest issues is the question of low-yield nuclear weapons. The House bill ends funding for the low-yield nuclear missiles, and bars their deployment. A last minute Republican amendment in committee to preserve the weapons failed.

F-35 Program Is "F***ed Up", Puts American Pilots In Severe Dogfight Disadvantage

Two of the three versions of Lockheed's beleaguered F-35 fighter jet suffer from previously unreported problems that could put the Joint Strike Fighter at a serious disadvantage in a dogfight with an adversary, according to documents obtained by Defense News.

If left unresolved, the following 'category 1' glitches will be icing on the cake of Lockheed's $400 billion quagmire (partial list via Defense News);

When the F-35B vertically lands on very hot days, older engines may be unable to produce the required thrust to keep the jet airborne, resulting in a hard landing.
After doing certain maneuvers, F-35B and F-35C pilots are not always able to completely control the aircraft’s pitch, roll and yaw.
Supersonic flight in excess of Mach 1.2 can cause structural damage and blistering to the stealth coating of the F-35B and F-35C.
Cabin pressure spikes in the cockpit of the F-35 have been known to cause barotrauma, the word given to extreme ear and sinus pain.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This makes absolutely zero sense, and why the Pentagon is putting up with these failures... is beyond me, completely.

The only explanation I can find, is that of the fact that Lockheed-Martin is a huge campaign contributor to both sides of the aisle, so its executive board believes that it can create fighter jets with multiple strings of interlocking problems, and it doesn't have to raise a finger to fix these issues.

As most of you know who frequent this blog, I absolutely abhor war, as the only way for the US government to resolve its geopolitical differences with other countries; but that being said, when war happens, I believe that all who wear an American uniform, should be given the best this country has to create in terms of weaponry.

And right now, that just isn't happening. Russia and China are far beyond what the US can produce, in terms of weaponry capability and reach.

So please, engineers at Lockheed Martin; fix this; your country needs you to be making the best in terms of our weaponry you can create.

Lira Slides After Turkey Vows It Will Retaliate To US Sanctions Over S-400

Two weeks ago, when Trump started rolling out tariffs left and right as a political punishment weapon for any sovereigns who presented hurdles to
Next on Trump’s train of terrifying tariffs: Turkey.

The reason is simple: Turkey's now official stance that it would proceed with concluding the Russian S-400 missile deal despite vocal opposition from both the US president and Congress. And now, Turkey, too, is bracing for what now appears inevitable as it refuses to budge on its commitment to the Kremlin.

Overnight, Turkey said it would hold firm in its commitment to honor its purchase of Russian air defense systems, warning the US that it is prepared to take "reciprocal steps" in reply to any sanctions imposed by Washington, effectively admitting that sanctions by the White House are only a matter of time.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. President, a word, please; the more you inflame a country, in terms of attempting to punish it for its choices of weapons defenses, the more that country will turn toward other countries whose policies it feels are more in line with its own.

What you have done here, is make Turkey ripe for acquisition by a Iranian/Russian sphere of influence. So sir, I must ask: was this your design objective?!?

Or is this yet another of the "unintended consequences" of your foreign policy failures with the tariffs so far?!?

Pence Goes to War: America Will be Fighting Forever

Most media commentary on the speech was either shocked or pleasantly surprised by Pence’s prediction that the graduating officers would soon be at war. He said

Webmaster's Commentary:

In order to feed soldiers into these upcoming wars, a draft will almost certainly have to be reinstated in the US.

And this time, the US military will not be coming only for your sons; they will be coming for your daughters as well.

I don't know what the Vegas odds are on this, but I would imagine, that they are getting higher by the hour.

Russia Sees Through Trump’s Iran Bluster, but Has Middle East Problems of Its Own

By trying to isolate Russia and Iran, the US is only isolating itself.

President Donald Trump won’t go to war with Iran. That was the prediction of Russian experts I interviewed in Moscow during the height of the US-Iran crisis in May. They were right.

To date, Trump has threatened military action against North Korea, Venezuela, and Iran. But, while he has caused tremendous damage to ordinary people with tariffs and economic sanctions, he hasn’t started any new wars. Countries around the world can now, after two years of Trump, distinguish between genuine military aggression and bluster.

But Ivan Konovalov, head of the Center for Studies of Strategic Trends, notes that each country has its own political, military, and economic interests in the region.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If Netanyahu pushes a "false flag" in the Persian Gulf or beyond against Iran, Trump's hands may well be tied in trying to get out of it, without a war against it.

Low-yield nukes are intended by the Pentagon to be more usable, tactical weapons, that would have a much lower threshold for deployment. This was the source of support among hawks, but also the source of much opposition, concern that more usable nukes would usher in an era where nuclear warfare is more routine.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Normalizing the use of ANY nuclear weapons, is utterly obscene.

US gives Turkey ultimatum on Russian missiles

Turkey has been given a deadline of the end of July to choose between buying US fighter jets and Russian anti-aircraft missile systems.

Acting US Defence Secretary Patrick Shanahan set out the ultimatum in a letter to his Turkish counterpart, Hulusi Akar.

Turkey, he said, could not have both America's F-35 advanced fighter jets and Russia's S-400 systems.

The two Nato allies have been locked in a row over the S-400 for months.

America argues that the Russian systems are both incompatible with Nato defence systems and pose a security threat, and wants Turkey to buy its Patriot anti-aircraft systems instead.

Turkey, which has been pursuing an increasingly independent defence policy, has signed up to buying 100 F-35s, and has invested heavily in the F-35 programme, with Turkish companies producing 937 of the plane's parts.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If Shanahan's intent was to push Turkey to buy the Russia products, he has done a great job so far!

MILITARY-INDUSTRIAL BLOCKBUSTER: UNITED TECHNOLOGIES TO BUY RAYTHEON, CREATING ONE OF WORLD'S LARGEST DEFENSE FIRMS

SOURCE: ZERO HEDGE
United Technologies has agreed to buy Raytheon in an all stock deal, forming one of the world's largest aerospace and defense companies with more than $74 billion in revenue and $13.5 billion in EBITDA, through one of the industry’s biggest deals ever.

In a statement release on Sunday afternoon, the new entity will be called Raytheon Technologies Corp., the companies said. The combination, which is being presented as a merger of equals, will take place in the first half of 2020 after United Technologies’ planned spinoff of its Otis elevator and Carrier air-conditioner businesses.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is going to be huge, and will have an incredible impact on US defense, in the future, if the deal is allowed to move forward.
