California priest is arrested after being accused of 30 counts of child sex abuse against one victim over an 18-month period

A priest in California has been arrested on 30 counts of suspected child sex abuse involving one child, according to police.

The Alameda County Sheriff's Office said Father David Mendoza-Vela, 42, was arrested on 30 counts of suspected child sexual physical abuse that occurred over an 18-month period on March 30.

Authorities said that the investigation revealed that one child victim had allegedly been abused during the period while Mendoza-Vela was working at St. John's Catholic Church in San Lorenzo, California, between 2016 and 2017, according to a statement posted on Facebook.
