Military unit reactivated in East Texas ceremony

Always made up of hometown volunteers, the 19th Regiment of the 3rd Battalion Texas State Guard was reactivated. Deactivated in the mid 2000s, the guard was reactivated in a flag ceremony at the Kilgore armory.

"When you get to be part of a reactivation, it's a great joy. You bring back the lineage, you bring back the heritage of that unit. All the men and women that fought in that unit, some gave their lives. There's a romantic quality to reviving the unit and taking command of the unit," says new regiment commander major Sidney Loggins.

With the unfurling of the regimental flag, the unit lives again.
