Feds gone wild: DOJ's stunning inability to prosecute its own bad actors

One was caught red-handed engaged in nepotism. Another, a lawyer no less, admitted to shoplifting at a Marine barracks store. A third leaked sealed court information to the news media. And a fourth engaged in fraud by turning a government garage into a personal repair shop.

Four cases, all solved in the past month, with suspects who cost taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars and significant breaches of public trust.

But these weren’t your everyday perps.

All were U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) employees who are supposed to catch other criminals while working for the FBI, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and U.S. attorneys’ offices. Instead, they broke the law or violated the rules. And all managed to escape prosecution, despite their proven transgressions.

US Senate Upholds Arms Sales to Bahrain and Qatar

In two surprising votes held on Thursday, the Senate rejected bills by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) to block US arms sales to Bahrain and Qatar. The Bahrain vote was 43-56, and the Qatar vote was 42-57.

Sen. Paul has been leading pushes against selling US arms to countries with authoritarian governments. In Thursday’s comments he declared that “dumping more weapons into the Middle East won’t get us any closer to peace.” He also urged the US to “stop sending arms to people who abuse human rights.”

The Senate leadership dismissed such concerns, saying that Bahrain and Qatar would find arms somewhere even if the US didn’t sell them. Emphasis on the importance of the two nations centered on them hosting America’s 5th Fleet and Central Command headquarters, respectively. The White House had threatened to veto either of the measures if they’d passed.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What absolutely sickens me, here, is that the US Government, headed by our Merchant of Death In Chief, President Trump, in its weapons sales orgy, has decided that it is simply a financial deal, and who the heck cares about who gets killed or maimed for life, from these dictatorial regimes.

To those who fully understand President Kennedy's quote in 1962; "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.", this country is in "deep kim-chee" (trouble) with these sales of weapons to the heads of brutally autocratic states in the Middle East.

This country is making enemies out of those people who have peacefully demonstrated, and found themselves at the receiving end of all the brutality their countries can dish out.

Let is take a look at one of the most recent outrages with one of President Trump's BFFs in the Middle East, the Butcher of Yemen, aka Prince Mohammed Bin Salman.

Saudi teen faces execution for crimes allegedly committed when he was ten

This article goes on to state:

"There have already been at least 104 executions in Saudi Arabia in 2019, with ESOHR putting the number at 107 and Amnesty at 104.

“The Saudi Arabian authorities have a chilling track record of using the death penalty as a weapon to crush political dissent and punish anti-government protesters - including children - from the country’s persecuted Shia minority,” Amnesty International’s Middle East Research Director Lynn Maalouf has said in a statement.

She has added that “There should be no doubt that the Saudi Arabian authorities are ready to go to any length to crack down on dissent against their own citizens, including by resorting to the death penalty for men who were merely boys at the time of their arrest.”

News.com.au, got the story almost straight: Saudi teen faces beheading and crucifixion for protesting as a child

So, hey, Saudi Government, I have "a modest proposal"; why don't you sell rights to the event, livestreamed, while your murdering officials torture, crucify, then behead this kid?!?

Wow, wouldn't THAT provide "magnificent optics" for the real processes of the Wahabbi judicial system, protected by the Saudi monarchy, in Saudi Arabia?!? Hey, let's let the WHOLE WORLD SEE WHAT YOU ARE DOING, FOR ALLEGED CRIMES HE COMMITTED WHEN HE WAS 10!!!!

And President Trump, who has become this nation's "Merchant of Death in Chief", with regards to weapons sales to Saudi Arabia, a word, please: I do hope that the Butcher of Yemen, does send you some images of this crucifixion, torture, and beheading of this kid, if it happens; and I say this to you, sir, because you need to fully understand the Saudi Monarchy's Wahabi concept of "justice"; I think that looking at such images, may give you the kind of "grounding" you desperately need, with regard to future weapons sales to the Saudis, and other oppressive countries in the region, like Bahrain.

It Only Costs Google $20 Million A Year To Control The U.S. Government

Google has fired six of its largest lobbying firms in an attempt to overhaul its global government affairs and policy operations amid greater government scrutiny of its business, according to the Wall Street Journal. Over the last few months, the company has changed its roster of lobbying firms, as well as its Washington policy team, and lost two senior officials who helped build its "influence operation" into one of the largest in the nation's capital. The company had been paying about $20 million annually for lobbying, and the firms that Google has now let go made up about half of that cost.

Sanders: Socialism Will Spike Taxes, But Americans Will Be ‘Delighted’ To Pay Extra

Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders acknowledged a tax increase from his policies and said Americans would be “delighted” to pay extra, in a CNN interview with Anderson Cooper Wednesday.

“I suspect that a lot of people in this country would be delighted to pay more in taxes if they had comprehensive health care as a human right,” Sanders said. The Vermont senator also went on to tell Cooper that he bases his principles on his 50-mile proximity to the Canadian border, where universal health care is law.

What Sanders did not include in his statement was the cost of his programs. The Mercatus Center at George Mason University released a study in 2018 saying Americans can estimate to foot a $32.6 trillion bill over a 10-year period for “Medicare for All,” Fox News reported. Sanders has also omitted cost information on his campaign website.

Joy Behar Says Trump is ‘One Cheeseburger Away From Keeling Over’

On ABC’s “The View” Wednesday the hosts discussed former Vice President Joe Biden’s health as it related to the 2020 presidential election.

“There’s a lot of things I really hate about primary politics, but one of them is health conspiracies,” co-host Meghan McCain said. “I hate it, it happened with my father, it happened with Michele Bachmann.”

“It happened obviously to Hillary Clinton, it’s now happening to Joe Biden, I think it’s the lowest common denominator, dirtiest form of politics,” McCain continued. “I think on both sides we should stop it, I think it’s disgusting. It’s actually hurtful, can be very harmful to families in that position.”

Obviously McCain takes this kind of talk personally given some of the conspiracy theorizing her late father, Sen. John McCain endured.

California Seeks to Strip Doctors of Authority to Grant Kids Medical Exemptions for Vaccinations

By Bretigne Shaffer

Imagine taking your two-month-old daughter in for her scheduled vaccines. Imagine watching as she begins to convulse soon after receiving her shots and then continues to experience seizures over the next few days. You might want to make sure she never receives a particular vaccine again. You might decide not to give her any more vaccines at all. You might also decide to delay vaccines for her siblings or to forego them altogether. These are all understandable responses to a frightening situation that any parent can relate to.

Under current California law, you would be able to do all of these things..

The Answer to the Social Media Conundrum Will Not Come From Government

By Alexandra Hudson

This week, YouTube chose to ban the channel of right-of-center comedian Steven Crowder. This situation is the same as when Twitter banned Milo Yiannopoulos or Facebook banned Louis Farrakhan. In other cases, YouTube is not deleting accounts but simply demonetizing them so that creators can no longer support themselves.

Large-scale platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter have, however inadvertently, sowed the seeds of their own destruction and incentivized the creation and ultimate decentralization of media. On one hand, the algorithms of the biggest players favor sensational and bombastic users who play on people’s baser instincts. Yet the moment those same users test the limits of our public discourse, social media platforms are criticized for being the arbiters of what is and is not acceptable.

However, it’s a mistake to think that the policies of technology companies will fix these problems. The problems are much deeper than that...

WHEN YOU TAKE A COMMERCIAL GENETIC TEST, YOU OPT YOUR WHOLE FAMILY INTO WARRANTLESS STATE GENETIC SURVEILLANCE

Cops are increasingly turning to commercial gene-testing services to solve crimes, using a process called "genetic genealogy" that uses the records of people who are near-matches for DNA from crime scenes to zero in on suspects; that's how they caught the Golden State Killer, but cops don't just ask genetics services for data when they're after killers, sometimes they deputize these services to help them solve petty crimes.

Dem committees win new powers to investigate Trump

The House voted Tuesday to grant new legal powers to a key committee investigating the Trump administration, handing Democrats another tool in their battle to bore deeper into Robert Mueller's report on Russia's election meddling and potential obstruction by President Trump.

The 229-191 vote broke down strictly along partisan lines with no defectors from either party, highlighting the entrenched divisions on Capitol Hill between Democrats accusing Trump of conducting a "cover-up" related to Mueller's findings, and Republicans fighting to protect their White House ally from what they consider a political "witch hunt" heading into 2020.

David Axelrod: Biden is playing into Trump's caricature of being 'weak mentally'

Former Obama advisor David Axelrod expressed his concerns that former Vice President Joe Biden is "playing into the the caricature" made by President Trump that has questioned the Democratic frontrunner's fitness to lead.

Both Trump and Biden exchanged harsh attacks between one another on Tuesday as they both made campaign stops in Iowa, with the president telling reporters outside the White House that the former VP is "weak mentally.”

Appearing on CNN, Axelrod cautioned that Biden's light campaign schedule, when compared to those of other competitors in the Democratic field, left him open to such criticisms.

Netanyahu will attend October pre-indictment hearing

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reluctantly agreed to attend an October pre-indictment hearing which will decide his fate in three corruption cases.

Facing today’s deadline by which he must inform Israel’s Attorney General, Avichai Mandelblit, whether he will attend the hearing, Netanyahu’s lawyer Amit Hadad announced that “we will come to the hearing, but it would have been right to reconsider the date and delay it”.

In a video posted online, Hadad stressed that “we believe there are significant arguments justifying postponing the [hearing] date” and complained of “dozens of missing documents” in the case files provided to him.

Israel Police recommend charging Netanyahu associate with bribery in ‘Submarine Affair’

Israel Police has recommended charging Miki Ganor, an associate of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, with bribery for his role in Case 3000, often known as the “Submarine Affair”.

The case refers to a series of allegations against close associates of Netanyahu, who it is claimed lobbied Israeli defence officials to sign deals with German shipbuilding firm ThyssenKrupp. The multi-billion-shekel deals, many of which date back to 2009, would have seen Israel purchase naval vessels and submarines from the German firm. Netanyahu’s associates, however, are suspected of “skimming” millions of shekels off the top of the deals for their personal profit.

THE FBI TRAGEDY: ELITES ABOVE THE LAW

One of the media and beltway orthodoxies we constantly hear is that just a few bad apples under James Comey at the FBI explain why so many FBI elites have been fired, resigned, reassigned, demoted, or retired — or just left for unexplained reasons. The list is long and includes director James Comey himself, deputy director Andrew McCabe, counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok, attorney Lisa Page, chief of staff James Rybicki, general counsel James Baker, assistant director for public affairs Mike Kortan, Comey’s special assistant Josh Campbell, executive assistant director James Turgal, assistant director for office of congressional affairs Greg Bower, executive assistant director Michael Steinbach, and executive assistant director John Giacalone. In short, in about every growing scandal of the past two years — FISA, illegal leaking, spying on a presidential candidate, lying under oath, obstructing justice — someone in the FBI is involved.

THE HOUSE JUST VOTED TO HOLD ATTORNEY GENERAL WILLIAM BARR AND FORMER WHITE HOUSE COUNSEL DON MCGAHN IN CIVIL CONTEMPT

SOURCE: BUSINESS INSIDER
The House of Representatives voted on Tuesday to allow a congressional committee to enforce subpoenas by taking uncooperative executive-branch officials to court using a civil-contempt resolution.

A civil-contempt resolution is different from criminal contempt of Congress, which can result in lofty fines and even jail time.

The move comes after the House Judiciary Committee advanced contempt of Congress resolutions for both Attorney General William Barr and former White House counsel Don McGahn, marking the most severe congressional action against President Donald Trump's administration since Democrats reclaimed the chamber's majority.

The 229-191 vote fell straight along party lines. The resolution required only a simple majority and needed to be passed in only one chamber of Congress. It came after the House Judiciary Committee hammered out the details of the contempt resolution in a marathon hearing.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would very politely like to point out, that the more time the Democrats spend on this absolute "playing to the galleries" nonsense, the less time they have doing the work their alleged constituents hired them to do.

Put perhaps, doing the actual, and critically necessary work for their constituents, was never really in the cards for this current crop of House and Senate Democrats.

I have never, in 70 years of existence on this planet, seen a political environment so rancidly toxic, and it makes us look, to the world of stable democracies, like elementary school children, fighting over a dodge ball infraction.

Not pretty at all.

US Propaganda Blitz Ahead of Idlib’s Liberation

By Tony Cartalucci

A recent New York Times article titled, “Inside Syria’s Secret Torture Prisons: How Bashar al-Assad Crushed Dissent,” dusts off, combines, and repackages now nearly 8 years of Western war propaganda aimed at demonizing the Syrian government and paving way for regime change.

While the article claims it now has “memos sent to Syria’s head of military intelligence” to back up previous claims, it admits “some information was blacked out to protect the integrity of evidence for possible prosecutions.”...
