"Contemplate the mangled bodies of your countrymen, and then say 'what should be the reward of such sacrifices?' Bid us and our posterity bow the knee, supplicate the friendship and plough, and sow, and reap, to glut the avarice of the men who have let loose on us the dogs of war to riot in our blood and hunt us from the face of the earth? If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!" -- Samuel Adams

How do you like them Apples? Tim Cook's iPhones sitting in the tree, feeling unloved by the Chinese

Apple's iPhone sales volumes in the strategic Chinese market slumped by double digits in Q4 – the firm's seasonally biggest quarter – as buyers opted for homegrown hardware makers' handsets.

CEO Tim Cook warned at the start of January that Cupertino's mobile phone revenue for Q1 of fiscal '19 ended 29 December were likely to be down 15 per cent, and so it proved when those numbers were filed.

Now Canalys has painted more colour on Apple's actual shipments: Apple sold 2.6 million fewer mobiles in China in the quarter, down almost 18 per cent to 11.5 million units. This was in a market that had declined 10.8 per cent to 100.7 million.

Why does that website take forever to load? Clues: Three syllables, starts with a J, rhymes with crock of sh...

If the web seems slow, blame third-party advertising and analytics scripts.

Many internet users have already come to that conclusion but Patrick Hulce, founder of Dallas, Texas-based Eris Ventures and a former Google engineer, has assembled data that clarifies the impact of third-party scripts in the hope it prompts more efficient coding.

Hulce has compiled a list of the third-party scripts residing in the top million websites and found that the 100 most common bits of JavaScript eat up about 59 per cent of script execution time.

"Third party script execution is the majority chunk of the web today, and it's important to make informed choices," he says in the GitHub post where he presents the data.

NASA's Dawn Mission receives nod in memory of Apollo 13 'naut for asteroid belt derring-do

The mission holds a notable list of firsts and records. It is the first spacecraft to orbit an object in the main asteroid belt. It used solar-electric propulsion, notching up a record-breaking 25,700mph thanks to its ion drive. The figure is 2.7 times that of the previous record and not too far off the velocity produced by the Delta launch vehicle.

Of course, it took the ion drive considerably longer than the chemical rocket. The drive ended up running for 5.9 years in total.

Even though the mission ended when the hydrazine ran dry at the end of October, the spacecraft remains in orbit around Ceres. NASA boffins reckon it could continue circling the dwarf planet for another 20 years or more.

The U.S. should not only build a wall to defend its own country from criminal enterprises emanating from Mexico, but the U.S. should also pressure the Mexican government to stop crime at the source. Mexico should help pay for the damage that drug addiction and drug-related violence does to families. Mexico should own up to their crime-sponsoring gun laws, which create victims out of law-abiding citizens, while spreading organized crime and its violence into the great United States of America, where armed citizens must be more vigilant and on watch.

Leftist Politics of Racism and Sexism are Racist and Sexist

The words racism and sexism as used today by the left and the mainstream media are a psychological scam. The real meaning has been destroyed in favor of politically correct lies meant to frighten and deceive the simple-minded masses. Those seeking to divide us are pathological by nature, and they use these terms as weapons. Those individuals and groups who rely on this tactic are spreaders of a societal disease for the single purpose of fulfilling a political agenda. There is no caring or honesty evident, and no real compassion exists. Only anger, hostility, and hatred are pursued. These are the tools of division used by pretenders, those postmodernists who purposely propagate separation instead of unity in order to promote opposite identities.

U.S. President Donald Trump made a bid for the Nobel Peace Prize during a speech at the White House on Friday.

“They gave it to Obama. He didn’t even know what he got it for. He was there for about 15 seconds and he got the Nobel Prize. He said, ‘Oh, what did I get it for?’…With me, I probably will never get it. But if you look at Idlib Province in Syria, I stopped the slaughter of perhaps 3 million people. Nobody talks about that,” Trump said, as quoted by Newsweek.

Jerome Corsi Asks Judge to Impose Gag Order on Roger Stone

Roger Stone’s onetime wingman is asking a federal judge to impose a gag order on the colorful political operative.

Jerome Corsi, a prolific author of conspiracy books who worked with Stone in support of Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign, filed a motion on Wednesday asking that Stone be forbidden from discussing his case in the news media.

Corsi, who’s alleged to have been one of two intermediaries between Stone and WikiLeaks in 2016 before the activist site published stolen emails damaging to Hillary Clinton, argued that Stone was attempting to “smear, defame and discredit” him as part of his public defense in the run-up to his trial. Corsi, who’s identified in the Stone indictment as Person 1, hasn’t been charged. Last week, Corsi sued Stone for defamation.

Graham: The US is looking for allies to replace it in Syria

With the U.S. due to announce the Islamic State group is destroyed and its troops withdrawing from Syria, it is looking for allies to step in and help stabilize the region, Sen. Lindsey Graham said Friday.

Speaking at the 2019 Munich Security Conference, Graham told the assembly of world leaders that the U.S. chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Joseph Dunford, “would be coming to some of you in this room, and he will be asking for a contribution of forces to stabilize the region, post destruction of the caliphate.”

Graham called for a lean, joint military presence to enforce a safe zone that would protect American-backed Kurdish forces in Syria from Turkey, watch for the reemergence of ISIS and buy time for a Syria peace process in Geneva.

The message, under the subject line “Going to war,” made two things clear to the home surveillance company’s hundreds of employees: Everyone was getting free camouflage-print T-shirts (“They look awesome,” assured Siminoff), and the company’s new mission was to use consumer electronics to fight crime. “We are going to war with anyone that wants to harm a neighborhood,” Siminoff wrote — and indeed Ring made it easier for police and worried neighbors to get their hands on footage from Ring home cameras. Internal documents and video reviewed by The Intercept show why this merging of private tech business and public law enforcement has troubling privacy implications.

Martin Armstrong Slams Al Gore's Deliberate Global Warming Fraud To Increase Governmental Power

There was this core group of people who seemed to enjoy all the attention they were gathering by predicting the end of civilization caused by humans. As the temperatures began to warm, suddenly they had to switch the dire forecasts from global cooling caused by humans to global warming caused by humans.

Al Gore came to the rescue. Global cooling meant that government should stockpile food for everyone, but that would cost money. Switching to global warming would create a different agenda that they were familiar with. Like smoking, they could tax it to HELP people. Of course, when they did stop and tax revenues began to decline, they introduced taxes on e-cigarettes and didn’t try to deter people from smoking.

'Unfolding Geopolitical Competition': Munich Security Conf Kicks Off Friday

This year the key topics of the Munich Security Conference will be transatlantic cooperation and consequences of a possible restart of superpower competition.

The issues of arms control and cooperation in security policy along with effects of climate change and technological innovations on the international security will be discussed by experts coming from across the globe.

The Munich Security Report 2019 stated that the European Union is not prepared well for a new era marked by competition among big powers.

The report, issued ahead of the conference, suggested that the so-called "in-between" states — former USSR republics that are located between Russia and Western countries — were strongly impacted by the "unfolding geopolitical competition".

US-led anti-Iran circus in Warsaw unravels as farce

A conference in Warsaw this week was billed as reinstating the US’ lead role in diplomacy for the Mideast. The absence of Russia and other European leaders only served to expose the ill-conceived summit and Washington’s isolation.
When the forum was initially planned last year by the Trump administration, the purpose was to bring Washington back in from the diplomatic cold which it had opted for by abandoning the international nuclear accord with Iran.

Trump’s tearing up of the Iran deal in May 2018 had isolated the US from other signatories: Russia, China and the Europeans. By holding a high-level conference on Iran, the idea was to burnish Washington’s diplomatic standing in the Middle East.

The trouble was that from the outset most would-be participants saw the real agenda of the meeting as an attempt by Washington to drum up international support for further antagonizing Iran with economic sanctions.

Monsanto’s Roundup raises cancer risk 41%, EPA-linked scientists find

Monsanto’s Roundup raises the risk of certain cancers in heavily-exposed individuals by an eye-popping 41 percent, according to a study by former EPA advisors that may influence a coming wave of legal actions against the company.

Exposure to glyphosate-based herbicides like Roundup dramatically increases a person’s risk of developing non-Hodgkins lymphoma, a new review of studies found, adding to the mounting pile of evidence against Monsanto’s popular weed killer, now owned by Bayer. The meta-analysis, published in Mutation Research, analyzed the results of six earlier studies to find individuals with heavy exposure to the herbicide had a 41 percent higher risk of developing non-Hodgkins lymphoma than those not exposed.

CIA says MBS ordered Khashoggi hit, but don’t expect Saudi-US relations to change – John Kiriakou

The CIA concluded that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ordered journalist Jamal Khashoggi killed, but the young ruler is there to stay, and so is the cosy US-Saudi relationship, a prominent CIA whistleblower told RT.

With enough information leaked from the CIA, the NSA, the FBI and the Turkish national intelligence organization, Kiriakou says there is little doubt among the analysts that it was Mohammed bin Salman (MBS for short) who had ordered the killing.

The CIA, for its part, concluded with “medium to high confidence” that Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist who entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul last October, and was never seen again, was tortured and murdered on orders coming from MBS.

US Senate & House approve spending & border security bill to avert gov’t shutdown

Both houses of the US Congress have passed a spending and border security bill, dodging a new government shutdown. Lacking the funds for President Trump’s border wall, the bill opens the door to him declaring a national emergency.

Passed by both the Republican-controlled Senate and Democrat-controlled House, the bill now moves to the White House. While Trump is expected to sign it, the president has made it clear he will declare a national emergency to get the funding for his wall. The bill provides just $1.375 for fencing at the US-Mexico border, a far cry from the $5.7 billion Trump requested.

A DEBATE ABOUT the power in Washington of the pro-Israel lobby is underway, after Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., responded sharply to reports that Republican leader Kevin McCarthy was targeting both Omar and fellow Muslim Rep. Rashida Tlaib, a Democrat from Michigan.

Omar quoted rap lyrics — “It’s all about the Benjamins baby” — to suggest McCarthy’s move was driven by the lobby’s prolific spending. Asked specifically who she was referring to, Omar responded, “AIPAC!”

The debate over the influence of pro-Israel groups could be informed by an investigation by Al Jazeera, in which an undercover reporter infiltrated the Israel Project, a Washington-based group, and secretly recorded conversations about political strategy and influence over a six-month period in 2016. That investigation, however, was never aired by the network — suppressed by pressure from the pro-Israel lobby.

While overall the Russian Armed Forces display remarkable effectiveness and demonstrated a wide range of modern weapons, a number of gaps in Russia’s arsenal are also evident. Arguably the largest one is the absence of attack UAVs of any kind, comparable to either the propeller-driven Predators and Reapers intended for operations in a benign air defense environment, or heavier platforms intended for high-threat environments comparable to the US X-47B UCAS or France’s Neuron. It is therefore no surprise that there was an upsurge in reports of UAVs of various classes under development in Russia, up to and including the S-70 Okhotnik-B, under development by OKB Sukhoi, whose first flight is planned for 2019.

Thursday (Feb. 14), NASA officials announced that the first "task order" for such a delivery will likely come out in a month or so — and that flight is expected to follow in relatively short order.

Here’s How Trump Plans to Get His $8 Billion For the Wall

President Trump is preparing to make a national emergency declaration that could allow him to spend up to $8 billion to construct a barrier at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced Thursday that the President would both sign the recently approved budget compromise and declare the national emergency.

“I just had an opportunity to speak with President Trump and he’s prepared to sign the bill,” McConnell said. “He will also be signing a national emergency declaration at the same time.”

That move will reportedly free up the $8 billion Trump could then use to construct his wall. Where will he get that money?

Webmaster's Commentary:

The problem is that the spending bill has provisions in it to allow state and county governments along the border to refuse construction of the wall. Trump should read that bill thoroughly before he signs it.

PICTURED - Two Nigerian actor brothers detained over Jussie Smollett attack, as it’s revealed they are FRIENDS with the Empire star amid claims the assault was staged to save his career

The two Nigerian brothers being questioned over the Jussie Smollett attack are actors Abimbola 'Abel' and Olabinjo 'Ola' Osundairo, DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal.

The pair were picked up by police at Chicago O'Hare Airport on Wednesday as they arrived back in America after visiting family in Nigeria to be questioned over the January 29 attack involving the star.

Family say they went to Africa on January 29, hours after the Smollett attack. Ola appeared on Empire in 2015 and both brothers have had minor roles on Chicago PD.

Smollett follows their joint Instagram account and, according to their lawyer, sometimes goes to the gym with them.

DailyMail.com has identified photographs of one of the brothers inside the gym in Smollett's apartment building in June. The gym is private to residents of the luxury condominium building.

On Thursday night, the star was accused by anonymous police sources cited by local networks of staging the attack.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg is back at the Supreme Court for first time since lung cancer surgery in December

The Supreme Court says Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has returned to work at the building for the first time since lung cancer surgery in late December.

The court's press office says the 85-year-old Ginsburg is attending the justices' Friday closed-door conference at which they're weighing whether to add new cases and finalizing opinions in cases argued in the fall.

Ginsburg missed six days of arguments and three private conferences as she recuperated from the December surgery. The court has said she participated in the court's work despite her absence.
