Don’t Put Robots in Charge of the Internet

By Elliot Harmon

Last year, YouTube’s Content ID system flagged Sebastian Tomczak’s video five times for copyright infringement. The video wasn’t a supercut of Marvel movies or the latest Girl Talk mashup; it was simply ten hours of machine-generated static. Stories like Tomczak’s are all too common: Content ID even flagged a one-hour video of a cat purring as a likely infringement.

But those are only a small glimpse of a potential Internet future...

Wyatt Earp in Hollywood

In a letter, written in December 1928, the 80-year-old frontiersman Wyatt Earp opined that perhaps “my health will be back to normal when this story business is all done with.”

He was wrong twice.

Less than a month later, Wyatt was dead, and his legend was on the cusp of exploding. Some outlaws were about to become very rich from his story, but Wyatt never made a dime on any of it. This is the story of how that happened.

Nolte: ‘Ghostbusters’ Will Return Without Female Cast Everyone Hated

Thanks to the free market, Sony Pictures has finally been forced to admit its all-female Ghostbusters remake/reboot was a catastrophe, and this admission arrives in the starkest way possible: Sony announced it has been forced to once again reboot Ghostbusters, and this reboot will have nothing to do with the studio’s disastrous 2016 attempt to use its beloved Ghostbusters franchise as a social justice statement.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, director Jason Reitman (son of original director Ivan Reitman) has been given the green light to bring to life a script he co-wrote, and as of now, the studio is looking for a summer 2020 release date.

From the sounds of it, Sony has decided to pretend 2016’s creative and financial catastrophe never happened. This new chapter will be “the next chapter in the original story [that] continues the narrative of the 1980s classic.”

Can Hollywood’s Biggest Media Companies Avoid Getting Crushed by Debt?

Randall Stephenson, AT&T’s chairman-CEO, summoned all of his folksy Oklahoma earnestness as he made an enthusiastic pitch to Wall Street analysts about the telephone company’s bold efforts to transform itself into a multimedia powerhouse. It was late November, less than six months after AT&T had wrapped up its $85 billion acquisition of Time Warner. But before Stephenson could wax poetic about his plans to revitalize HBO, Warner Bros. or other newly acquired AT&T subsidiaries, he felt compelled to address the elephant in the room.

“If you hear nothing else this afternoon, I want you to hear me on this,” Stephenson said at the company’s investor presentation in New York. “Our discretionary cash flow is going to go to one place. It’s going to be paying down debt.”

Face of equality, or an encounter with bruising reality? Woman contestant brutally beaten by a male rival in shocking SAS: Who Dares Wins boxing match

Women do not belong in the military Period!

The decision to allow women into all parts of the military was widely hailed as a victory for female equality.
But TV viewers are likely to be shocked tonight when they see a woman being badly beaten by a male contestant on Channel 4's SAS: Who Dares Wins.
The incident will raise further questions about how appropriate it is to recruit women alongside men as frontline soldiers.

Movie Critics Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner Reportedly Walked Out of Vice

During one outing around Christmas, Ivanka and Kushner went to a West Palm Beach theater for a showing of Adam McKay’s acidic retelling of the life and rise of Cheney, a former vice president and tremendously consequential figure in the political party that Ivanka’s father now leads.

Partway through the showing, she and Kushner and their Secret Service detail got up and left, a witness tells PEOPLE.

It remains unclear what prompted the exit, though the witness describes it as abrupt.

How War Propaganda in the Film Industry Really Works

As the co-authors of National Security Cinema, we have become known — rather inaccurately — for encouraging two major ideas: 1. That the government is really important in making movies more militaristic. 2. That Hollywood doesn’t produce dissenting films. While the first of these is somewhat true it is a simplification, the second is a falsehood.

The government is involved in as wide a range of entertainment projects as you can imagine, from video games to chat shows to blockbusters to docudramas. While many of these were militaristic from conception, before the government got involved, there is no doubt the Department of Defense (a.k.a. the Pentagon) has encouraged the militarization of popular culture and is pro-actively seeking further influence in Hollywood.

Hawaii Island isn't itself anymore. Lava and quakes have transformed it in interesting ways

The island of Hawaii was created by five volcanoes. In 2018, one of them seemed intent on destroying parts of it.

Kilauea, which has been erupting continually since 1983 at a volcanic cone called Puu Oo Crater, threw a geological tantrum in the spring that buried hundreds of houses and covered roads in a remote location on the east side of the island.

It also created a cloak of vog (volcanic smog) that fouled the air, dulled the skies and scared away scores of tourists and, with them, nearly half-a-billion dollars.

Roy Moore says he was duped into appearing on comedy show

Former U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore says he didn't know he was dealing with comedian Sacha Baron Cohen when he agreed to appear on a television show, his lawyers wrote in court filings last month.

Moore in September filed a $95 million defamation lawsuit over his appearance on Baron Cohen's "Who is America?" In court filings, Moore argued the agreement he signed waiving legal claims from the appearance is unenforceable because of fraud.

Moore said he was told he was receiving an award for supporting Israel and instead was lampooned as a possible pedophile. Moore said the agreement he signed had "zero" mention of Cohen.

The segment ran after Moore faced misconduct accusations during the 2017 Senate race in Alabama. He denied the accusations.

BREAKING: Ted Nugent Announces ‘Build The Wall’ Star-Studded Benefit Concert

Ted Nugent, one of the greatest figures ever in rock n’ roll, has decided to throw a benefit concert to raise money to help build the border wall. Nugent will use his massive influence in the world of music to put together a music festival that will "rival Woodstock." The hope is that the three-day festival will attract conservatives rather than liberals, who will do more than dance around drinking and drugging. According to Event Coordinator, Art Tubolls:

"Rather than having self-proclaimed chemists selling doses of PCP, we’ll have respectably dressed young men and women collecting donations from concerned Americans. We believe we can raise no less than $50 million, which is way more than they need to start a wall somewhere. The law says once you start a federal project you can’t stop. We will make our lives safer from the small percentage of refugees who come here on foot."

Martin Armstrong Exposes The Dick Cheney / Donald Rumsfeld Conspiracy

I went to go watch VICE – the story about how Dick Cheney took over the government with the aid of his wife – Lynne Cheney. Vice is a film that seeks to bring complicated information about the inner corruption in Washington and transform it into a digestible and entertaining format. There is no question that Christian Bale delivered a very impressive performance of how Dick Cheney really is – a secretive and distant man whose eyes were always filled with naked contempt. Amy Adams gave a fantastic performance as well and captured the real character of the former Second Lady Lynne Cheney who was very much like her husband – ambitious, and equally just as ruthless.

NYPD PLAN TO USE DRONES AS PART OF NEW YEAR’S EVE SECURITY DEFEATED BY MOTHER NATURE

CBS News reports that the city’s plan to deploy drones as part of security for the Times Square crowd was defeated – by Mother Nature:

There was to be plenty of security in place: Uniformed and plain-clothed officers positioned on the ground and on rooftops, along with 1,200 cameras rolling on the crowds.

The pouring rain did keep the NYPD from deploying drones as they had planned to, but Police Commissioner James O’Neill said revelers shouldn’t be concerned.

It’s only a question of time, though, until the city routinely uses drones to surveille us all in the city. Are you prepared for that? Are you okay with that? If not, what are you doing about it?

Webmaster's Commentary:

The better question to ask is, what actually CAN be done about it, when cities and counties add this kind of surveillance to their budget?!?

CBS EYES DITCHING NIELSEN AS STREAMING, CORD CUTTING CHANGE THE GAME

For years, we've noted how popular TV ratings firm Nielsen has turned a bit of a blind eye to cord cutting and the Internet video revolution, on one hand declaring that the idea of cord cutting was "pure fiction," while on the other hand admitting it wasn't actually bothering to track TV viewing on mobile devices. It's not surprising; Nielsen's bread and butter is paid for by traditional cable executives, and really, who wants to take the time to pull all those collective heads of out of the sand to inform them that their precious pay TV cash cow is dying?

Eventually, the cord cutting trend became too big to ignore, forcing Nielsen to change its tune and start acknowledging the very real trend (though they called it "zero TV households" instead of cordcutters).

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to love the smell of irony in the morning.

Bryan Adams: Longer Copyright Term Enriches Intermediaries, Not Creators

Following a new trade deal with the US and Mexico, Canada is set to expand its copyright term to 70 years after the creator's death. According to the Canadian singer Bryan Adams, large intermediaries such as record labels stand to benefit the most, not creators themselves. He, therefore, calls for a simple change that would allow creators to terminate their copyright assignments after 25 years.

Incoherent Thoughts from the Yankee Capital: Papua New Guinea Looks Better and Better II

Having just returned from two weeks in the curious environs of Washington, DC, I offer a few observations on the national lunacy deposit:

The de-Christianization of the country, or at least this part of it, is almost complete. I can think of hearing the word “Christmas” only twice in two weeks of trough-inciting retail advertising.

Culture shock: We stayed with friends who for various reasons, such as being in the business, always had a television on. At home in Mexico we got rid of the lobotomy box some fifteen years ago, seeing little advantage in paying seventy dollars a month for 250 channels, none worth watching, adorned with twenty minutes an hour of stupid commercials. Coming back to this was like jumping into raw sewage. Perhaps the worst of it was the contempt for the public manifested in running the same ad twice in one commercial break, and in the loving close-ups of pizzas with dripping cheese. Buy, buy, buy.

This Hollywood Super Producer Promoted Advertisement Boycott Of Tucker Carlson

Hollywood’s incessant berating of President Donald Trump is one of the most insufferable toxic wastelands on all of social media and television and yet it seems to be a daily occurrence.

There are those in the media, though, that read right through the liberal leftist hogwash propaganda that only demonizes President Trump and some of them are stars on Fox News.

But what this super Hollywood producer did to Tucker Carlson was so uncalled for it really goes to show you how ruthless and vile Tinsel town can be.

You’ve probably heard of the President Trump-hating writer, director and producer, Judd Apatow. He’s the mind behind The 40-year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Funny People and a long list of others.

When he’s not behind the camera, you can find him perusing Twitter and attacking anybody who defends President Trump because he despises him that much. One might argue even more so, than his Hollywood peers and lackeys.

'I know what you want': Kevin Spacey is charged with felony sex assault one year after being accused of molesting the teen son of a news anchor at a Nantucket bar - as the disgraced actor posts a creepy video in response to the allegations

Michael O'Keefe, the Cape and Islands district attorney in Massachusetts, said on Monday afternoon that Spacey will appear January 7 at Nantucket District Court.

'On December 20, 2018 following a public show cause hearing at Nantucket District Court, Clerk Magistrate Brian Kearney issued a criminal complaint of indecent assault and battery against Kevin S. Fowler, also known as Kevin Spacey,' read a release from the district attorney's office.

'The incident is alleged to have occurred on or about July 7, 2016 at a local restaurant.'

The victim's mother, Heather Unruh, said last year that Spacey repeatedly stuck his hand down the pants of her 18-year-old son. The boy was eventually able to get away when a woman walked over to him while the actor was in the bathroom and said: 'Run!'

At the time, Spacey was trying to convince the boy to join him at a party said Unruh, who now hopes to find the mystery woman who she believes saved her son from a far worse fate.

Sacha Baron Cohen: Planned Ben Carson takedown fell apart after White House pulled the plug

Sacha Baron Cohen almost added Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson to his roster of high-profile figures he pranked on his controversial comedy series "Who is America?" but he revealed the White House thwarted his attempt at the last minute.

The "Borat" actor and Carson's team set up an interview at the Mandarin Hotel in Washington, D.C., Cohen told Deadline in an interview published last week.

He'd been living "undercover and in disguise" in D.C. for a few weeks leading up to the interview. Cohen said that on the day of the interview, they'd had "bad luck [because] there was a big international conference of politicians" at the hotel.

"[Former Secretary of State] Condoleezza Rice was there, a bunch of other politicians, and the whole place was filled with Secret Service, some of whom were completely undercover and some of whom were clear," Cohen said.

A Charpentier Christmas

Marc-Antoine Charpentier (1643-1704) was a busy composer in Paris in the time of Louis XIV.
***
>>>He composed oratorios, operas, masses, theater music, and short pieces that are hard to categorize.

Eventually he was noticed by King Louis himself, arousing the jealousy of the court composer, Jean Baptiste Lully.

Lully proceeded to make it impossible for Charpentier to get a position at court, and difficult for him to even have his music played.
(*NOTE: even King Louis had a swamp to contend with)

Charpentier wrote a lot of music for Christmas: oratorios on Christmas themes, pastorals, noels, and a lovely “Midnight Mass for Christmas.”>>>

NASA enlists Queen guitarist Brian May to record song featuring audio of Stephen Hawking as tribute to NASA historic New Year's Day flyby of object a billion miles past Pluto

The US space agency's New Horizon's spacecraft will soon make the most distant flyby of a cosmic object ever, zipping by an object called Ultima Thule - a billion miles (1.6 billion kilometers) beyond Pluto, on January 1.

A NASA scientist involved with the mission asked the legendary British guitarist behind 'Bohemian Rhapsody' - who also holds a doctorate in astrophysics - to contribute some music to play as the flyby occurs.

And May, 71, agreed.

The 'New Horizons' track (Ultima Thule mix), which will be released New Year's Day, is his first solo single since 1998.

'New Horizons' will have its global premiere broadcast live on January 1 at 12.02am EST (5.02am GMT) from the New Horizons control Center in Maryland, USA, at the moment when the historic Ultima Thule encounter is confirmed.

Fake network voids choice-of-law deal, Roy Moore says in defamation suit against Sacha Baron Cohen

Former Alabama Chief Justice and failed Senate candidate Roy Moore claims his $95 million defamation suit against Sacha Baron Cohen doesn’t have to be tried in New York because of misrepresentations made when he signed a contract before his appearance on the comedian’s show.

Feminism Was Created by the US Communist Party

Gloria Steinem - How The CIA Used Feminism To Destabilize Society

"In the 1960´s, the elite media invented second-wave feminism as part of the elite agenda to dismantle civilization and create a New World Order."

Since writing these words last week, I have discovered that before she became a feminist leader, Gloria Steinem worked for the CIA spying on Marxist students in Europe and disrupting their meetings. She became a media darling due to her CIA connections. MS Magazine, which she edited for many years was indirectly funded by the CIA.

Steinem has tried to suppress this information, unearthed in the 1970´s by a radical feminist group called "Red Stockings." In 1979, Steinem and her powerful CIA-connected friends, Katharine Graham of the Washington Post and Ford Foundation President Franklin Thomas prevented Random House from publishing it in "Feminist Revolution." Nevertheless the story appeared in the "Village Voice" on May 21, 1979.

How Rockefeller Created Feminism And Enslaved Humanity

In 50 short years since Rockefeller lobbed the feminism grenade into every American household, many women have lost touch with their natural loving instincts. Consequently, the family is in disarray, sexual depravity is rampant and birth rates have plummeted.

A woman makes this supreme sacrifice to only one man who will cherish her and provide for his family. Men instinctively want to fulfill this responsibility. This is the essence of the heterosexual contract (i.e. marriage): female power in exchange for male power expressed as love. Sex is the symbol of this exclusive bond. Marriage and family may not be for everyone but it is the natural path for most.

Feminism has trained women to reject this model as “an old fashioned, oppressive stereotype” even though it reflects their natural instincts.

Meryl Streep: Trump’s ‘Children Are in Jeopardy,’ and ‘We Should Be Afraid’

Speaking at An Evening with Stephen Colbert at Newark’s New Jersey Performing Arts Center Saturday, Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep insisted that she is “scared” in Donald Trump’s America — mostly because she thinks Trump is dangerous.

During the Saturday evening event, Streep said she fears Trump because, like any parent, he will do “anything” to protect his children, Variety reported.

“I’m scared by (Trump),” Streep told Colbert. “By his possibility. I empathize with him. I can’t imagine what his 3 a.m. is like. There is a gathering storm. Everybody feels it. He feels it. His children are in jeopardy, and I feel that. I think, what if my children were jeopardy? I would do anything. Anything! To get them out of trouble. So we should be afraid.”

ISHI, THE LAST YAHI

ISHI, THE LAST YAHI begins in 1492 when there were more than ten million Native Americans in North America. By 1910, their numbers had been reduced to fewer than 300,000. In California, massacres of Indians in the 1860s and 1870s had nearly exterminated the Native peoples in the state. Therefore the sudden appearance in northern California in 1911 of Ishi, "the last wild Indian in North America," stunned the nation. For more than 40 years, Ishi had lived in hiding with a tiny band of survivors. When he walked into the white man's world, he was the last Yahi Indian alive.

YouTube to make its exclusive shows and movies free to all users in battle with Netflix and Amazon

The video streaming unit of Alphabet Inc's Google seeks a bigger audience for shows and movies that had mostly been restricted to its paid subscribers.

The shift in strategy means YouTube Premium will no longer have exclusive access to original programs starting next year, removing one of the main benefits of the subscription offering.

YouTube's paid option also removes ads and comes with music streaming privileges.

The company said the move was aimed at satisfying growing international user interest in original programming and advertiser demand to associate with special content.

The Inversion Agenda

We are now living in the last stage of a plan to invert the individual and society from natural order. The plan will be deemed a success when most human beings on the planet live inverted to their biology and nature, and come to believe that an inverted reality has always been a normal state of affairs.

The elites are performing the inversion to weaken man to such an extent that their rule will never be threatened. In effect, they are creating a permanent slave class that will be as incapable of overthrowing their masters as a herd of cows is incapable of killing the farmer who owns them, even though those cows descended from powerful bulls that could only be handled with specialized training or weapons. There is no better way to weaken humans than to take away their natural strengths, pit them against each other through a multitude of invented identities, and convince them that strength can only come in hedonistic pleasure that focuses around food, entertainment, and sodomy.

Hollywood actors threaten boycott of Georgia after Kemp victory

Several Hollywood actors have called for a boycott of Georgia’s film industry after Republican Brian Kemp officially won the state’s gubernatorial contest.
?
The hashtag #boycottgeorgia began to trend after Stacey Abrams, a former Democratic state representative and romance novelist, announced Friday that she would no longerchallenge the Georgia Secretary of State’s election results. While Abrams acknowledged Kemp would be the winner of the election, she refused to call her speech a "concession" because a "concession means to acknowledge an action is right, true, or proper."

Before Kemp was certified as the official victor, actors were already threatening to boycott working in Georgia, a state with a large film industry that’s been dubbed the Hollywood of the South.

Robert De Niro Bashes Trump Again: ‘Down With This Motherf—er!’

Robert De Niro may have been the target of the Donald Trump-supporting pipe bomb mailer, but that isn’t stopping the Oscar winner from trashing the president.

Just two days after playing Robert Mueller again on “Saturday Night Live,” De Niro zinged the commander-in-chief with more verbal zingers.

In presenting Billy Crystal with the Friars Club’s entertainment icon award on Monday night in New York City, De Niro first shouted, “F— Crystal!” as a wink to his condemnation of Trump at the Tony Awards earlier this year. “I just get so upset with that jerkoff in the White House,” he said, drawing boos from the crowd. “Boo is right! Down with this motherf—er!”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Wide support for campaign against Hollywood’s support of Israel army

An online campaign against Hollywood stars’ support of the Israeli army has been launched this week.

VPalestine Team – the organisation behind the campaign – coined the hashtag #HollywoodFundsTerror on Twitter to denounce Hollywood stars’ support of the Israeli army and their raising of $60 million during a ceremony in New York.

Others wrote to a number of celebrities on their social media pages asking them to stop supporting the Israeli army due to its involvement in war crimes, as well as illegal and inhumane acts.
