6 RECENT US ANTIWAR PROTESTS THE MEDIA DOESN'T WANT YOU TALKING ABOUT

A friend told me yesterday that he hadn’t seen an antiwar protest in America in ten years. It was a sincere comment; he genuinely hadn’t seen any coverage on any peace activism in his country during that time. And of course he hadn’t; it is mainstream media’s job to distort public narratives in favor of the war-hungry plutocratic class which owns the media outlets. But I’ve actually been noticing a lot of antiwar activism lately which, while often far from the spotlight of mass media attention, has given me much hope for the future.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Foreign policy in this country is ultimately outsourced to the people/countries who, and which, can pay the most for it.

Right now, the highest bidders, and owners, for US foreign policy are, respectively, Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Israel has shared an absolutely, fact-free, poisoned narration of its relationship with Gaza, the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and all of the rest of the countries which surround it with President Trump, and he has absolutely taken the bait. Of course that "bait" was "sweetened" by the very generous donations of the casino mogul, Sheldon Adelson, and his wife Miriam.

Sheldon and Miriam Adelson gave $55 milion in September to support Trump and the Republicans

That is why The unhinged, surveilled state of Amerika, is in such a loop of endless wars, followed by new wars, with no real justification for why it must be the US who must fight them in the first place. The "Payoffs" to Adelson and Israel were:

1. The US declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel
2. The withdrawal of the US from the P5+1 agreement, and the imposition of horrific sanctions against Iran, and putting the US on a "war footing" against Iran, which Israel sees as its "existential threat" in the region
3. Massively more money for Israel's military
4. Keeping US troops in Syria "to answer the "scourge" of Iranian troops staying in that country, coordinating with the Russian and Syrian troops, to wipe out the last of the US-funded jihadists (This, potentially, may lead to a hot war in Russia, but hey, who cares?!?)
5. Cutting off any funds for humanitarian aid for Gaza
6. The awarding of the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Miriam Adelson
Miriam Adelson Receives the Presidential Medal of Freedom
(Wow; I guess that in current circles, that can be bought also)
7. Letting Prime Minister Netanyahu have an absolutely free hand with the Palestinians, including stealing and annexing their land, which has belonged to Palestinian families for generations, and engineering borders encroaching Palestinian residents' land for use by the the illegal Jewish settlers, which means that it is now impossible for the Palestinians to have a contiguous state.
6. President Trump's NOT reading the riot act when Israel passed the controversial nation-state law Israel passes nation State Law. The bill went on to state: "Israel passed early Thursday a controversial bill that officially defines Israel as the national homeland of the Jewish people and asserts that "the realization of the right to national self-determination in Israel is unique to the Jewish people," sparking outrage from Israel's Arab community and provoking concern from the international community."

Now, let us turn to President Trump's other BFF,Saudi Arabia's Prince Mohammed bin Salman, AKA, the Butcher of Yemen. And what has the "payoff" been here for Saudi Arabia?!?

1. The opportunity to purchase lots of weapons with which to create a genocide in Yemen.

In fact, President Trump and the US's own Mike Pompeo thought this so important that he lied to Congress about what Saudi Arabia was going to do with those weapons. Pompeo lied to Congress about Yemen to protect Arms Sales
2. The US has aided and abetted Saudi war crimes in Yemen, which include:

A - The deliberate killing of infants, women, and the medically fragile elderly. Images; Yemeni children slaughtered or maimed for live, courtesy of Saudi bombing raids

B - The US-enabled blockading of Yemen ports, leading to massive starvation, and a cholera epidemic (possibly weaponized):

Images: Yemeni children dying from malnutrition

Images: Yemeni children sicked by cholera

3. The deafening conspiracy of silence on this war from the American Presstitutes.

4. Possible assistance from the US on starting up a nuclear weapons program Congress members want Trump to report on Saudi Arabia's nuclear ambitions

5. A covert, but growing alliance with Israel against their alleged common enemy, Iran.

6. The US giving the Prince "cover" on Saudi Arabia's brutal execution of Adnan Khashoggi, even though this may well have been planned by the Crown Prince himself.

It is sobering to think, that President Trump's two BFFs in the Middle East, are the most ruthless, tyrannical leaders in that part of the world; Israel's Prime Minister, Benyamin Netanyahu, the Butcher of Gaza, and Saudi Crown Prince bin Salman, the Butcher of Yemen.

Iran has enough leverage to continue oil exports under US sanctions: Envoy to UK

Tehran’s envoy to the UK says the US has failed to rally the world community behind its new sanctions against Iran, and that the Islamic Republic possesses “enough leverage” to keep its oil sales going despite US attempts to reduce them to “zero.”

In the face of American sanctions, “we have lots of alternatives because we have had some experiences from the past,” Hamid Baeidinejad told the CNN’s Christian Amanpour in an interview published on the network’s website on Wednesday.

“We know that, in fact, the difference, this time, is that countries are not ready to comply with the United States’ request. So, we have enough leverage to continue our exports,” he added.

Iraq rejects US deadline to halt Iran gas imports

Iraq has rejected a US deadline to stop importing Iranian gas, warning that any halt to the supplies would create a real power crisis which sparked several days of unrest in Basra and elsewhere this summer.

“Stopping Iranian gas after the deadline will create a real power crisis. We need more time … the Americans are completely aware of how desperately we need Iranian gas,” an Iraqi official was quoted as saying on Wednesday.

The announcement came after the US embassy in Iraq said on Thursday that Washington had given Baghdad 45 days to stop purchasing gas and electricity from Iran.

Iraq has extensive trade ties with Iran and heavily depends on Iranian natural gas imports for electricity generation. Basra in southern Iraq was hit by violent protests which spread to other cities this summer, partly because of a halt of Iranian electricity exports.

Iraq wants to barter food for desperately needed Iranian gas supplies – report

Baghdad is looking for approval from Washington to import Iranian gas and energy supplies in exchange for food items, according to two Iraqi government officials as quoted by Reuters.

The Iraqi authorities are reportedly planning to keep on importing Iranian gas, which is used in the country’s power stations, as they need more time for searching alternative sources of energy.

“The American deadline of 45 days to stop importing Iranian gas is not enough at all for Iraq to find an alternative source,” one of the officials said.

Bolton Vows to ‘Squeeze’ Iran, Escalating Sanctions

With the newly reimposed US sanctions against Iran having little to no perceivable economic impact, national security adviser John Bolton is talking up his plans to continue to escalate the sanctions track, saying he will “squeeze Iran until the pips squeak.”

Bolton shrugged off the reality that Iran is still doing business internationally, saying that he believes Iran is “under real pressure” from the sanctions, and that he’s determined to see it keep getting worse.

Bolton went on to predict that the European efforts to keep trading with Iran would ultimately fail. He said the Europeans are going through the six stages of grief, and would ultimately lead to European acceptance of the US demands.

Webmaster's Commentary:

With sa growing number of countries ignoring the sanctions outright, what does Bolton think the US should do with all the countries still trading outright, declare war on them?!?

Bitcoin Could Help Mitigate Iran’s Oil Selling Problem

It seems there’s no end in sight to the US economic pressure being levied against Iran. In addition to the second wave of US sanctions which took effect on November 5th, the US government has tried several different ways to undermine or limit Iranian oil sales around the world. The most recent effort had been the US government’s actions to pressure SWIFT to stop processing financial transactions for Iran. That effort was successful and has left Iran with only a few options to continue selling its oil abroad...

Trump's America First policy only brought US global backlash: Zarif

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has slammed US President Donald Trump’s so-called 'America First' agenda as a “mistake,” saying his administration’s failure to honor international commitments under such an approach has only created a global backlash against Washington.

Zarif made the remarks in an interview with London-based al-Araby al-Jadeed media outlet that was published on Tuesday.

He was asked about a recent tweet by Richard Haass, president of the Council on Foreign Relations, on French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent call for the creation of a “real European army” to protect itself against the US.

Haass had said “America First has brought us the revival of the spirit of De Gaulle. More evidence of a post-American world.”

Zarif stressed that he agreed with Haass regarding the fallout of Trump’s 'America First' approach.

Iran Has 'Credible' Info on Saudi Plan to Kill Top Officials – Foreign Minister

Over the weekend, The New York Times cited three unnamed sources as saying that top Saudi intelligence officials had discussed the possibility of killing Iranian “enemies” by hiring private operatives. Saudi authorities haven’t commented on the report yet.

In an interview with Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, a London-based pan-Arab media outlet, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif claimed that Tehran was aware of Saudi Arabia’s alleged plans to have senior Iranian officials killed.

“Tehran had credible information on this,” Zarif said.

Iran Dismantles 5 Int'l Drug Trafficking Gangs

The intelligence ministry disbanded five international drug trafficking bands in Northwestern Iran, seizing a considerable amount of heroin.
The intelligence ministry forces in the West Azarbaijan province dismantled five drug trafficking bands in a series of operations, the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

It noted that over six tons of required materials for producing heroin and 385kg of heroin has been seized in operations, adding that 11 people some of them with European citizenship have been arrested in this connection.

Pakistan and Afghanistan are two origins of producing and trafficking of various types of narcotic in the region.

Israel Proposes Forming Int'l Coalition in Paris to Push Iran out of Syria

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held Sunday a series of meetings in Paris in the framework of his intensive efforts to combat Iranian activity in Syria and Lebanon and work on “recruiting the world behind the demand to expel Iranians completely from Syrian territory.”

Netanyahu arrived in Paris and met the French President, Emmanuel Macron, on the sidelines of the commemorations marking 100 years since the end of World War I. He urged Macron to use his influence in Lebanon to put more pressure on Lebanese President Michel Aoun and PM Saad Hariri’s government in regards to Iran's advanced weapons factories on Lebanese soil as well as against Iranian activity in Syria.

SWIFT Cuts Off Iran Central Bank As Tehran Sells 700,000 Barrels To Anonymous Direct Buyers

As reported last week, shortly after SWIFT caved to US pressure and defied the EU announcing it would cut off a selection of Iranian banks, on Monday, the US Treasury said the Iranian Central Bank has been officially cut off the SWIFT financial messaging system. The disconnection, which comes at a time when Iran's economy is reeling and its currency is tumbling as a result of restricted oil exports (albeit offset by numerous temporary waivers for top Iranian oil clients), will made it far more difficult for the Islamic Republic to settle import and export bills.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said that the move is “the right decision to protect the integrity of the international financial system", and comes after several days planning by SWIFT.

France, Germany Could Host Iranian Payment Vehicle to Side-Step US Sanctions

Despite the rumors that no one is willing to host the trade mechanism over fears of US sanctions, France or Germany have been named as the most viable options.

Either France or Germany might become the host nation for the European clearing house, usually referred to as a "special purpose vehicle" (SPV) — a payment mechanism that would allow European companies to bypass US-imposed sanctions on Iran.

The establishment of this mechanism is widely viewed as the moment of truth on whether the EU is genuinely ready to live up to its promise to keep the so-called Iranian nuclear deal. And, as US sanctions kicked in on November 5, Tehran is becoming more restless regarding the establishment of the SPV, the Guardian notes.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Sajjadpour has already expressed his frustration at the pace with which the SPV is being set up, saying: "What is lacking is both speed and efficiency."

Webmaster's Commentary:

So what happens when all of these countries adopt a payment mechanism which completely bypass US sanctions on Iran?!?

Is President Trump prepared to go to war with all of them, for ignoring US sanctions, and buying Iranian crude?!?

Trump gives highest U.S. civilian honour, the Medal of Freedom, to top GOP donor

U.S. President Donald Trump awarded the Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honour in the U.S., to seven individuals Saturday, both living and dead — one of whom has been the biggest donor to the Republican Party.

Miriam Adelson was awarded the Medal of Freedom. She is married to Sheldon Adelson, a billionaire Las Vegas casino magnate and another GOP megadonor.

The Adelsons recently contributed $113 million to GOP causes during the 2018 election cycle. Among those donations, the couple gave $25 million in July to the Senate Leadership Fund, $2 million in September to ESA Fund, $3 million in July and September to the Republican Governors Association and roughly $40 million between May and September to the Congressional Leadership Fund, according to Politico.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This award, and the Adelsons' donations, bring some things about this administration, perfectly into focus.

The Adelson money has "bought" US foreign policy, particularly in the Middle East, where everything Israel wants, it gets granted; the Palestinians continue to get slaughtered; and Iran is in the crosshairs of the US for a shooting war and regime change.

Hezbollah Leader Vows to Respond to Any Israeli Attack on Lebanon - Reports

Historically tense relations between Israel and the Lebanon-based group hit a new low this autumn after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Hezbollah of building a missile factory and hiding it in the civilian infrastructure of Beirut's international airport.

During a televised speech on Saturday, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said that the movement would retaliate against any Israeli attack on Lebanon.

"Any attack will definitely and certainly be responded to," he said.

Speaking at the UN General Assembly in September, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu provided satellite images of what he claimed were Hezbollah precision-guided missile installations at Beirut's international airport. He also accused the group of using Beirut's residents as human shields and emphasized that Israel would 'not let [Hezbollah] get away with' their behaviour.

Webmaster's Commentary:

At least, Netanyahu wasn't showing off "An Iranian cartoon bomb" this year; but things are getting immensely tense in the region, and one stupid mistake, one simple misunderstanding, could lead to a military showdown between Israel, Lebanon, and Iran.

And on such a potential for horrific violence, I would politely like to ask President Trump to pick his battles in such a conflict very, very carefully.

US Hopes Russia Will Allow Israel to Bomb Iranian Forces in Syria

The US is seeking to push all foreign military forces from Syria, the US ambassador to the country said. Besides Russian ones, of course.

US Ambassador to Syria James Jeffrey said Wednesday that Washington hopes Russia will allow Israeli forces to bomb Iranian military forces in Syrian territory after the delivery of S-300 air defense systems.

"Russia has been permissive, in consultation with the Israelis, about Israeli strikes against Iranian targets inside Syria. We certainly hope that that permissive approach will continue," Jeffrey said during a press conference, according to Business Insider.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I don't know the Russian translation of "no way!" is, but I am hoping that is what the Russians will tell the Israelis.

Should such a thing happen, if an Israeli plane is able to "take out" one of the S-300 systems, you will most likely find the Russian forces in hot, military pursuit.

And of course, the US would have to defend Israel, militarily, in Syria, so the danger may be both real and critically and far beyond any way of "defusing" of the situation.

Israel Seeks Closer Cooperation with Gulf States over Fears of Iran – Report

The visit of Israeli Transportation and Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz to Oman earlier this week has signaled a change of policy in the region, observers say.

Earlier this week, Katz arrived in Oman — reportedly to propose a new railway project that would connect Israel's Haifa to the Persian Gulf through Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

During his visit, he also called for stronger relations with the Persian Gulf Arab states in civilian sectors such as transportation, commercial aviation and tourism, PressTV reports.

The trip was one more in a chain of visits by Israeli officials to Gulf States — the most important of which was the surprise visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Oman several weeks earlier.

Iran's Leadership Must Decide "If They Want Their People To Eat" - Pompeo

Less than a week after US Secretary of State Secretary Mike Pompeo told Fox News Sunday that the "Iranians are responsible for the starvation' of Yemeni civilians" he's again issued hugely provocative words, telling the BBC during an interview that Iranian "leadership has to make a decision that they want their people to eat" in reference to the latest round of US sanctions.

As the interview was with BBC Persian, Pompeo's words were immediately translated from English and broadcast to the Iranian public through BBC's Persian-language publication. Pompeo repeated his theme that Iran is the world's foremost state sponsor of terror and a "destabilizing influence" in the Middle East while ultimately blaming the country's economic suffering on the intransigence of the country's leaders.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That this guy can stand there and lie, while people in Yemen continue to die, due to US/Saudi war crimes, including bombing sorties; the creation of starvation through blockading Yemen's ports, and destroying the water infrastructure, allowing thousands of Yemeni to die of cholera, must be an amazing gift in the wacky world of DC.

Sorry, Mike, but as long as you are going to continue to lie about the situation on the ground, I will stay compelled, as a Christian pacifist activist, to document what the US/Saudi war against Yemen is actually doing. (warning: very graphic images):

Images: Yemeni children dead and maimed for life, courtesy of US-enabled bombing runs

Images: Yemeni children dying from malnutrition, courtesy of US Military-enabled Saudi Yemen port blockade

Trump Administration Considers Declaring Yemen’s Houthis ‘Terrorists’

Just weeks after promising to back a peace effort in Yemen, the Trump Administration is reportedly considering labeling the Shi’ite Houthi movement in northern Yemen, one of the principal forces, a terrorist organization.

The move appears unrelated to US policy in Yemen itself. Rather, it reflects the Trump Administration’s desire to go after perceived Iranian allies. Saudi Arabia, who is attacking the Houthis, has accused them of being in league with Iran.

In reality, the Houthis have always had limited connections to Iran. But making them a US-labeled terrorist group would not only greatly undermine the Houthis, it would complicate the peace talks to the point of making them nearly impossible.

Perhaps even worse, a terrorist label would make it even harder to deliver humanitarian aid into northern Yemen.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is glaringly apparent that neither President Trump, nor one of his BFFs in the Middle East, the Butcher of Yemen, aka Crown Prince Bin Salman, do not want peace, but to continue the horrific war, in which the US is enabling Saudi war crimes.

Such a declaration will also accelerate making aid more impossible to get to starving Yemeni people, and contribute to more children gunned down in Saudi raids, starving to death, and vulnerable to cholera.

This is precisely where the US and the Saudi leadership wants the Yemeni people to be.

FRANCE SUPPORTING IRAN AGAINST US ‘TRADE POLICEMAN’

France has vowed to fulfill plans to defy the US’ sanctions on Iran while increasing the international role of the euro in order to prevent Washington from acting as the world’s “trade policeman”.

France’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Bruno Le Maire, told the British newspaper Financial Times that Europe is planning the formation of a special financial channel to Iran in order to keep trade flowing with the country and assure its own “economic sovereignty”, with the aim of making the euro as powerful as the dollar.

“Europe refuses to allow the US to be the trade policeman of the world,” Le Maire stated in an interview in Brussels, emphasising that Europe must “affirm our sovereignty” in regards to the US sanctions on Iran and its wider economic hegemony.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These sanctions placed by the US, are beginning to blow up in President Trump's face, somewhat akin to the actions of a bad trick cigar.

So, what does President Trump intend to do with those countries who will not observe the sanctions, go to war against them?!?

In withdrawing from the P5 +1 agreement, plus his never-ending sanctions against Russia and China, President Trump has set this country up for some really intense economic challenges, for which I do not believe he has any clue as to how to alleviate.

Just ask any American soybean farmer as China has stopped buy American soybeans:

Their Soybeans Piling Up, Farmers Hope Trade War Ends Before Beans Rot

Rather than punishing Iran, Russia and China, President Trump should be engaging the leadership of all three countries in a positive, constructive way, because if human civilization is going to survive on this planet, that has to come from universal cooperation, one country with the other, and the elimination of war as "the only way" in which DC resolves its geopolitical and financial issues.

US allows Iraq to buy electricity from Iran

The United States has granted Iraq a waiver to allow it to continue purchasing and importing electricity from its sanction-worn neighbour Iran.

Baghdad purchases much of its electricity and natural gas from Iran, making it heavily reliant on the country for a sufficient supply of its energy essentials. The revamped sanctions slammed down on Iran by the US earlier this week and its subsequent warning to those who trade with the country caused Iraq to fearful it would be unable to obtain the supplies it needs.

Those fears were allayed yesterday when US State Department representative on Iran Brian Hook told reporters in Washington: “We granted Iraq a waiver to allow it to continue to pay for its electricity imports from Iran. We are confident that this will help Iraq limit electricity shortages in the south.”

Hook added that “Iraq is a friend and a partner, and we are committed to its stability and prosperity.”

The CIA’s Latest Greatest Failure

Communicating is the most vulnerable element in any foreign agent operation, particularly as counter-intelligence services commit major resources to cracking the systems used to link an agent in the field with his case officer or handler, who might be in the same country under diplomatic cover but just as easily might be in another nearby country or halfway around the world.

Bolton: More Sanctions Against Iran Are Coming

On Monday, the US completed the reimposition of all US sanctions against Iran which had been relaxed under the P5+1 nuclear deal. President Trump withdrew the US from the deal in May, and there was a six month window after the announcement before sanctions could be resumed.

According to national security adviser John Bolton, this is only the beginning. During a Monday interview with Fox Business, Bolton insisted that the administration plans to “even go beyond this,” and that more sanctions are coming.

He was not specific on what that means, but Bolton did say that the administration would not “be content with going back to the level of sanctions that existed under Obama in 2015.” The 2015 sanctions were nearly a full blockade of Iran, and it’s not clear what additional sanctions are even possible.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It appears that the US government wants to attempt to get Iran's economy derailed as humanly possible; but if that doesn't work in time, look for a false flag, to be blamed on Iran, to be the justification of US military action against it.

WW3: Trump Sanctions Iran, They Respond By Launching Military War Drills

The United States may have to learn the hard way that bullying and using sanctions is not always going to work. In fact, in response to increased sanctions on Iran, the nation has launched military war drills likely with the U.S. in mind.

As President’s Donald Trump’s “toughest ever” sanctions on oil exports, shipping, and banks hit Iran, the country retaliated by launching military drills. Iran’s military took part in defensive drills across the country on the same day the US imposed tough sanctions on the country, seemingly to send a message to the U.S. government. Rouhani: Iran to sell oil, defy US sanctions

Iran will sell its oil and break sanctions reimposed by the United States on its vital energy and banking sectors, Reuters reported Iranian President Hassan Rouhani saying today.

“America wanted to cut to zero Iran’s oil sales … but we will continue to sell our oil … to break sanctions,” Rouhani told economists at a meeting broadcast live on state television.

The United States said on Friday it will temporarily allow eight importers to keep buying Iranian oil when it re-imposes sanctions today aimed at forcing Tehran to curb its nuclear, missile and regional activities.

China, India, South Korea, Japan and Turkey – all top importers of Iranian oil – are among eight countries expected to be given temporary exemptions from the sanctions to ensure crude oil prices are not destabilised.

Iranian Charity Receiving Bitcoin Donations

Some of us when we think of Bitcoin we think of money, or PayPal. What we rarely think about is how Bitcoin can be used as a way for charities to obtain donations. Over the last several years there has been an increase in charities around the world which accept crypto currency donations.

On top of this we’ve also seen political candidates in the United States accepting digital currency donations for their campaigns. One surprising thing I discovered a few days is that there is a charity based in Iran which is receiving Bitcoin donations. I was blindsided to see this because I do follow crypto currency news out of Iran, and I even have a Google News alert for “Iran Bitcoin”...

Lavrov Calls US Sanctions on Iran 'Illegitimate', Slams Pressure on SWIFT

Washington implemented tough unilateral sanctions against the Islamic Republic on Monday following President Trump's withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal in May.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has condemned Washington's decision to slap Tehran with sanctions, calling the restrictions "absolutely illegitimate" and deeply disappointing, and saying that it was "unacceptable" to hold dialogue in the language of ultimatums.

"As far as the US measures against Iran are concerned, they are absolutely illegitimate," Lavrov said on Tuesday in Madrid following a meeting with Spanish officials.

Turkish FM says ‘unwise, dangerous’ US sanctions on Iran don’t achieve results

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Tuesday criticized the US’ resumption of sanctions on Iran as unilateral, calling for dialogue and engagement instead. Cavusoglu, in Tokyo for talks with Japanese leaders, said that Ankara opposes sanctions because they don’t achieve results. “As a principle Turkey is against sanctions and we don’t believe that any result can be achieved through sanctions,” he said. “Cornering is not wise, isolating Iran is dangerous and punishing the Iranian people is not fair.”

Iran president warns of ‘war situation’ as sanctions resume

The U.S. re-imposed all sanctions Monday on Iran that once were lifted under its 2015 nuclear deal with world powers, grinding further down on the Islamic Republic’s already-ailing economy in what President Hassan Rouhani described as a “war situation” now facing Tehran.

Iran ran televised air defense drills showing soldiers cheering the downing of a drone, but otherwise held back from any military response over U.S. efforts to curtail what Washington calls its “malign activities” across the Middle East. While previously warning it could ramp up its nuclear program, Iran still honors the atomic accord now limiting its enrichment of uranium, according to the United Nations.

Iran's Powerful Hardline Cleric Threatens To "Instantly" Create $400 Oil By Seizing Tankers

Just ahead of U.S. sanctions on Iran set to snap back on Monday targeting primarily the energy, shipbuilding, shipping, and banking sectors, Iran's most prominent conservative cleric has announced that if oil exports are halted, Saudi tankers will be confiscated and Gulf countries attacked.

Powerful Shia cleric Ayatollah Ahmad Alamolhoda is the Friday Prayer leader in Mashhad, considered Iran's spiritual capital and among the holiest places in Shia Islam, and sits on the government's "Assembly of Experts" but has no formal government role or decision-making ability. However, he's a powerful leader and chief spiritual force behind Iran's conservative faction who has long been at odds with President Hassan Rouhani.

Iranian opposition sources report that Alamolhoda told his followers during his Friday prayer sermon:

New Iran Sanctions Risk Long-Term US Isolation

The U.S. is going for the jugular with new Iran sanctions intended to punish those who trade with Teheran. But the U.S. may have a fight on its hands in a possible post- WWII turning-point...

The next step in the Trump administration’s “maximum pressure” campaign against Iran has begun, with the most severe sanctions being re-imposed on the Islamic Republic. Crucially, they apply not only to Iran but to anyone who continues to do business with it.

It’s not yet clear how disruptive this move will be. While the U.S. intention is to isolate Iran, it is the U.S. that could wind up being more isolated. It depends on the rest of the world’s reaction, and especially Europe’s.

Pompeo Vows to Confront Iran Aggressively

US imperial rage is the greatest threat to world peace, security and stability. Its endless wars of aggression could escalate into something far more dangerous than already.

Iran is a prime target, regime change plotted by Washington since its 1979 revolution, ending a generation of US-installed fascist tyranny.

On Monday, stiff new illegal sanctions on Iran become effective, targeting its energy sector, petroleum related products, and central bank transactions – a futile attempt to isolate the country politically, economically and financially.

In the latest Foreign Policy issue, Pompeo discussed Trump regime intentions to confront Iran – for its sovereign independence, opposition to its imperial wars, and support for long-suffering Palestinians, not for any threat the country poses.

America’s only national security threats are invented. Real ones don’t exist.

Iran foils apparent Israeli cyber attacks on communications infrastructure

Iran says it has successfully thwarted a wave of cyber attacks apparently staged by Israel to target the country's communications infrastructure, saying it will certainly follow up on the “hostile” scheme via international mechanisms.

Hamid Fatahi, CEO of Iran’s Telecommunications Company, took to Twitter on Monday to report an attempt by “an occupying regime” to launch “sporadic” cyber assaults against the Islamic Republic’s communications infrastructure, in reference to the regime in Tel Aviv.

All the attacks, he added, “were firmly foiled.”

“They showed to the Int’l community that their accusation against Iran for #CyberAttacks was just a ridiculous delusion. Remember Stuxnet,” Fatahi added in a consecutive tweet, saying defeating the attackers had been such an easy feat for Iranian experts.

Europe prepares for US Iran sanctions hit

European governments are locked in negotiations over a special purpose vehicle to safeguard trade with Iran as they prepare for a long-awaited US crackdown on Tehran’s oil and finance sectors to come into force.

Hours before Monday’s launch of a US squeeze on Iran’s energy industry and central bank, European diplomats said a planned special channel to safeguard non-US trade with Iran would not be ready in time. Agreement has yet to be reached on crucial details, including where to locate it as countries fear triggering a political and economic backlash from Washington if they play host. European states have not put a formal deadline on when the launch will be, but some diplomats had hoped to have the channel ready in time for the reimposed US sanctions.

Turkey Seeks to Trade in National Currencies With Russia, China, Iran

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu’s recent remarks echoed President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s earlier call to put an end to the dollar’s domination and begin trading in national currencies.

Delivering an opening speech at the 18th session of the D-8 Council of Foreign Ministers in Antalya, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu announced that Ankara was looking to engage in trade with Russia, China and Iran using national currencies.

“We are experiencing a period of trade wars. The best response against this would be using our local currencies in trade. Turkey is preparing to do trade in local currencies with countries such as China, Russia, Iran and Ukraine. We also continue such negotiations with other countries,” he said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, what happens when no one wants to use the US dollar anymore with which to buy goods and services?!? What happens when to the American economy when that happens?!?

If I have ever seen economic stupidity writ large, it is President Trump's sanctions against Russia, China, and Iran, which is forcing them to work even more closely together economically, and militarily.

US Military Reportedly Concerned It Won't Be Able to 'Repel Iran's Missiles'

Unnamed military sources, quoted by The Washington Post, have expressed alarm over Iran’s unpredictable reaction to US economic and diplomatic pressure.

The Washington Post has cited several military officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, as expressing concern that reducing the US military presence in the Middle East has dealt a blow to their ability to react to potential Iranian threats amid what they called an increased potential for confrontation due to the sanctions.

The military reportedly believes that it’s the current administration’s policy to deter Iran, including Donald Trump’s decision to pull out of the landmark nuclear deal and efforts to eliminate what National Security Adviser John Bolton branded as “the Iranian menace” in Syria and in the region as a whole that has increased the likelihood of military confrontation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The whole point of the US military and economic posture against Iran, is to insure that it does create a "justification" for war against it.

Israel Breaks Silence: Khashoggi Murder "Horrendous" But Iran The Bigger Problem - Netanyahu

One interesting outcome to the Saudis brazenly murdering journalist Jamal Khashoggi is that world leaders and the determined allies of Saudi Arabia have dropped all pretense of finesse when discussing the matter, such as when President Trump told Fox News last month that while Khashoggi's death was tragic and should be investigated, the prospect of blocking arms sales to the kingdom is "very tough pill to swallow for our country" because American jobs are on the line.

Another world leader who's been blunt on ensuring his relationship with the Saudis weather the storm of media and international outrage is Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who argued in public statements this week that while the killing of the Saudi journalist at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul was “horrendous,” stability in Saudi Arabia is vital to global security.

Webmaster's Commentary:

President Trump staunchly believes that "war is good for business" here in the Unhinged, Surveilled State of Amerika; so he is absolutely fine with Prince Bin Salman having given the order to assassinate Khashoggi, just as is Netanyahu.

But President Trump, what is the moral cost for this country, upon having sold Saudi Arabia, God knows, how many bullets and bombs with which to assassinate innocent Yemeni people?!?

I think your "advisors" are very happy to misdirect your attention very far away from the truth of what the Saudis have been doing with these bombs and bullets; but you can be sure, as a Christian pacifist activist, that I will not. This is what the Saudi war in Yemen is looking like, through the eyes of Yemenite civilians:

Images of Yemeni children, killed and maimed for life, courtesy of US-enabled bombing runs

Yemeni children have been dying, courtesy of US-enabled Saudi port blockades, so no food can get it. Famine has become weaponized by the Saudis, as an act of war against them. A haunted look in the eyes of Amal Hussain, an emaciated 7-year-old lying silently on a hospital bed in northern Yemen, seemed to sum up the dire circumstances of her war-torn country.

And because of US/Saudi Arabia destruction of clean water resources in Yemen, cholera has claimed thousands of lives here.
Cholera/Malnutrition in Yemen

Mr. President, the hard truth here, is that we are enabling Saudi war crimes in Yemen, and there is just no flipping other way to say this.

I know Sec Def Mattis has been asking for a peace conference in 30 days, but this is only because the world now sees this country as the collective, dystopian killing machine that it has become, trampling foreign countries underfoot to make sure that their resources are only sold in the US dollar.

Mr. President, you have one hell of a lot of soul searching about the US position regarding Yemen, and various other foreign entanglements which have gone "mammary glands up" in the US government's rush to control the world's resources.

White House Says US "Remains Open" To New Iran Deal As Sanctions Loom

After horrifying the executives at HBO by tweeting a meme about the impending reinstatement of sanctions against Iran on Friday (the image was a play on HBO's "Winter is Coming" advertising campaign for its hit series "Game of Thrones"), President Trump clarified that the White House remained open to working out a "more comprehensive" agreement with Iran that would ideally help curb the regime's "malign activities" in the Middle East and "forever block" Iran from building nuclear weapons.

This isn't the first time that Trump has said he is open to a "new deal" with Iran. But the mildly less threatening rhetoric was, we imagine, designed to encourage the pullback in oil prices seen in recent weeks. Earlier in the day, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the US would grant sanctions waivers to eight countries (but not the European Union as a whole). The US has also decided not to encourage SWIFT to disconnect Iranian banks from the global financial system.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I agree with the author of this blog about Trump's seemingly softening stance was for public consumption regarding rising oil prices.

But you have to understand; there is a deep reverence in President Trump's attitude toward two of the most bloodthirsty tyrants in the Middle East, and the best contenders for that title are the Butcher of Gaza (Israel's Netanyahu) and the Butcher of Yemen, (Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince bin Salman).

I am quite certain that Trump has given his word to his largest US backer, Sheldon Adelson, and to Netanyahu, that if Iran doesn't pull back from these
alleged "malign activities" (whatever the heck these are supposed to be), that there will be a time and a place for a US-led/Israeli backed, military challenge against it, including a proxy of Saudi Arabian fighters, and regime change in Tehran.

But I would very much like to add a cautionary note to President Trump and his advisors on this; through his sanctions against it, President Trump has drawn Iran, Russia, and China closer together than they have ever been, economically and militarily in the history of those countries.

IF US/ISIS attached fighters pick a fight with either Russia or Iran in Syria, there will be hell to pay, and that may be the way the US believes it can "legitimately" start the war with Iran; through its facilities in Syria, assisting the Syrians and Russians in getting the rebels out.

Right now, the US military doesn't have the weaponry; the troop strength, the manufacturing, or the money to insure a positive outcome to a war against China, Iran, or Russia, in Syria.

The US, through its Presidential Advisor, John Bolton, has stated flatly that
the US military will not leave Syria, as long as there are Iranian advisors there. Russia is still very much involved in Syria, and working with Turkey and other countries toward its reconstruction.

I am deeply concerned that the long fuse of American intervention in Syria, as a "doorway" to a war against Iran is about to get lit, either after the midterms, or the first of next year.

Russia Isolated? US And Britain Excluded From Syria Summit

There were several takeaways from the recent Quadrilateral Summit in Istanbul on finding a peaceful settlement to the war in Syria. Russian President Vladimir Putin convened with his counterparts from Turkey, Germany and France for a two-day summit last weekend in a convivial and constructive atmosphere.

The four powers signed a communique emphasizing the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria. It was Putin who underscored the inviolability of the Syrian government of President Assad as the internationally recognized authority in the Arab country. The communique also endorsed the right of the Syrian nation to self-determination over the future political settlement, free from external interference.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Just because it was not invited to the conference, is no guarantee that the US government will do the right thing, which would be it's pulling its military from the country; Israel still wants, desperately, for the US to destabilize Syria to the point where it will become a failed state.

And as of 24 September, 2018, John Bolton made the following statement:

John Bolton says the US will stay in Syria until Iran and its Proxies are Gone

For Bolton to have made this statement, it is painfully clear that the US government is perfectly fine with catching hostile fire from Syrian, Iranian, and/or Russian forces in Syria.

This creates a potential for war by the US and Israel against Russia, Syria, and Iran.

‘Pray for the crown prince’: Michele Bachmann and other end-times evangelicals turn up in Saudi Arabia

A group of U.S. evangelicals, including former Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), held a rare meeting Thursday with Saudi Arabia’s crown prince Mohammed bin Salman at his palace.

The delegation to Riyadh was led by Bachmann and communications strategist Joel Rosenberg, who are each known for pushing an apocalyptic worldview relating to events in the Middle East, and the heads of other Israel-tied evangelical organizations, reported Al Jazeera.

“We’re under no illusions about the challenges that are in Saudi Arabia and that remain,” Rosenberg said. “But I think it’s respectful to go and listen to leaders who have the opportunity to make life better for Christians and Muslims and potentially for Israel as well and who are against the crazies in Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood.”

“I’d ask people to pray,” he added. “Pray for the (Jordanian) king, pray for the crown prince, pray for the people of Saudi Arabia — and I think it’s the right thing to do.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

My dear Ms. Bachmann and Mr. Rosenberg; in this most-likely Trump-mandated PR stunt has all the optics...as that of putting lipstick on a pig.

The US government is complicit with Saudi Arabia's war crimes in Yemen, in slaughtering infants, children, and the medically fragile elderly with their air strikes. The US is assisting Saudi Arabia in blockading Yemeni ports, so no food can get in, and the deaths from malnutrition, present and future, will cost Yemen tens of thousands more of their children. Additionally, the US has assisted Saudi Arabia in the destruction of Yemeni water infrastructure, and cholera (possibly weaponised, as the US government did during World War II) runs rampant in Yemen now.

And Mr. Rosenberg, when you made that statement that "I think it’s respectful to go and listen to leaders who have the opportunity to make life better for Christians and Muslims and potentially for Israel as well...", did you not realize that conversion to Christianity in Saudi Arabia can get you executed for apostasy?!?

It scares me, Mr. Rosenberg, that you have the ear of President Trump, and yet you would make a statement like this in public.

Christianity in Saudi Arabia

And please don't even think about having the hubris to lecture the world about the "Crazies" in Iran or the Muslim Brotherhood.

Iran appears to be doing everything it can to prevent war, while Prince Bin Salman does everything to continue this horrific, 3 year-on war in Yemen, which can only be resolved at in a geopolitical, not military, manner.

Netanyahu: Saudi Arabia deserves a pass for Khashoggi murder

Saudi Arabia should get a pass for murdering US-based journalist Jamal Khashoggi because the kingdom is an ally of the Jewish state against Iran.

“What happened at the Istanbul consulate was horrendous and it should be duly dealt with. But at the same time, it is very important for the stability of the region and the world that Saudi Arabia remain stable,” Netanyahu said in Bulgaria, the Times of Israel reported.

Khashoggi reportedly was strangled and then dismembered on Oct. 2 by a Saudi assassination squad under orders from Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman because the journalist was critical of the Saudi regime.

Netanyahu declared that his killers should somehow be punished, but that his overriding concern was the kingdom’s role in thwarting Iran’s Mideast ambitions, which include the destruction of Israel.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Hey, it's just a common courtesy for one geopolitical butcher (of Gaza, Netanyahu) to another geopolitical Butcher ( of Yemen, bin Salman), to "sell" the concept publicly, that he should be given a pass on both the assassination of Khashoggi, and the assassination of tens of thousands of Yemenis, because it is "good for regional stability."

US Govt Reimposes All Nuclear Sanctions Against Iran

The end of business on Friday marked the end of the six month period between the US withdrawing from the P5+1 nuclear deal and the withdrawal being finalized. As of Monday, the US will be reimposing all sanctions against Iran that they’d previously been required by treaty to ease.

The US intention is to put all international sanctions back exactly as they were before the nuclear deal was signed. Since Iran is still party to the deal, as is most of the rest of the world, many nations do not intend to comply with US demands.

Still, Iran’s economy has been struggling already, with the anticipation of sanctions gravely damaging the currency. This has many ordinary Iranians fearing that their economic struggles are about to get worse, while Iran’s government, as throughout the sanctions, is in a better position to weather the storm.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As I have observed many times in my posts at WRH, just because something is the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing the US government could do, is absolutely no guarantee that the US government won't do it.

Removal of the US from the P5+1 agreement is one of those stupid things, of course demanded by Sheldon Adelson, Trump's major US contributor, and his boss, Israel's Bibi Netanyahu; so Team Trump believes that they have delivered on that, along with designating Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, rather than Tel Aviv.

Everyone inspecting from the IAEA has said, right up to recent times, that Iran is still absolutely in compliance. And when someone as bright as one would have to be to earn a "seat at the table" in the IAEA, tells me Iran is complying, I would very much believe that person's credibility.

But what this completely idiotic move is going to accomplish, is to push Iran, Russia, and China even closer together economically than they already are, so I have to wonder; is a pathological incapability to see any scenario through to is logical conclusion now a mandate for US government work?!? Because folks, that is what it is looking like from here!!

And we have the following headlines, also from antiwar.com:

US Grants Iran Sanction Waivers to Some Countries, but Denies Others

And Germany, UK, France want to protect firms from Sanctions against Iran

So what does Team Trump think will be the ultimate outcome of this insanity?!? Will they go to war with all parts of the world ignoring the US's sanctions?!? I sincerely don't think so, but with this administration, one never can really be certain.

Netanyahu admits Israel behind Europe’s row with Iran over murder plot allegations

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has admitted that Israel is behind what Iran calls "false flags" in Europe where Tehran has been accused of assassination plans.

Netanyahu on Thursday claimed that Israel had recently revealed a number of “Iranian plots to carry out attacks on European soil.”

Speaking to reporters after talks with his Bulgarian counterpart in Sofia, Netanyahu said he had “warned” Europe of what he called “possible Iranian attacks on its soil.”

He did not provide further details, but his comments could be a sign that the accusations recently raised by Belgium and Denmark against Iran had been triggered by the Israeli regime.

Iran's Worst Nightmare Is Coming True

Oil market headwinds, perhaps even storm clouds are brewing over a slowdown in economic growth due to trade war tensions between Washington and Beijing, and a stronger dollar weighing on emerging market economies, with those countries seeing an exodus of currency for higher yielding, safer havens like the US Dollar and Japanese Yen. A stronger dollar also increases the price for oil import dependent countries, with India, the Philippines, Indonesia and others particularly vulnerable.

NATION HYPNOTIZED IN HORROR BY TOY BOMBS WHILE KILLING CIVILIANS WITH REAL ONES

And of course it is a good thing that nobody has been hurt by these devices. Obviously targeting anyone with packages containing explosive materials is terrible, even if those devices were not rigged with the intention of detonating and harming anyone, and it is a good thing that not a single one of them has done so. It is a good thing that none of America’s political elites were targeted by the sort of explosive device that America drops on people in other countries every single day.

You know, the kind that actually explode.

Apparently some Acme comedy bombs mailed to a number of extremely rich people, which thankfully did not hurt anybody at all, are infinitely more newsworthy than the real bombs which maim and destroy children in Yemen on an industrial scale.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As a Christian Pacifist Activist, the disconnect the writer of this post sees, looking at what is happening around this world, with the US complicit in so many deaths, in Yemen, Afghanistan, Libya, Niger, Somalia, and Iraq, is utterly and painfully true.

Folks, when people in power in this talk about the "honor", "glory" and "defending the American way of life" as valid descriptions of the wars in which the Unhinged, Surveilled State of Amerika is currently, and about to be, enmeshed, they are lying to you.

Simply put (and this guy was hopelessly wrong about a lot of things),when Karl Marx said that wars are economic in their origin, the man was absolutely, dead-on correct.

The war in Iraq?!? This was done to give the US and Western-centric corporations control over its oil.

The "undeclared war" in Yemen, where the US is enabling Saudi war crimes as I type this?!?

There is an issue that the article misses, in that controlling Yemen means controlling the waterways of Bab El Mandab; The Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden, all points for moving oil in and out of the region.

The war in Libya?!? This was done to prevent Muammar Gaddafi from issuing a gold-backed currency, the gold dinar, which would have shredded the value of the US dollar in a heartbeat. New Hillary Emails reveal the true motive for Libya intervention.

The war in Afghanistan?!? To control the pipeline rights, rare mineral development, and control of the poppy crops, from which a booming market in illicit heroin is derived.

The coming war against Iran?!? First, this will be done to honor Trump's commitment to both Israel's Prime Minister, Bibi Netanyahu, and his biggest American Supporter, Sheldon Adelson, who has supported the Trump Campaign with millions in overt, and covert funding, and secondly, to force this country to always sell its oil only in US dollars, post-regime change.

Of course, both Netanyahu and Adelson fully expect this war to be fully executed.... only at the costs of only US blood, and US money, not Israeli

Let's take a look at this last issue, shall we?!?

In FY 2018 the federal deficit was $779 billion.

With its desire for more and more wars, with which to enrich the US government financially, we are looking a Federal deficit of almost 780 billion dollars in fiscal 2018; that's a huge number to wrap my head around.

Instead of limiting spending in a reasonable and rational way, the US government appears to be miring the US public in an absolutely unpayable debt structure, from which there is no way out. This falls on the backs of hard-working Americans, who are desperately struggling to keep food on the table, and a roof over their heads. The people creating this unpayable debt have armies of lawyers and accountants on speed-dial, to insure that they get the best break possible with taxes.

Russia and China, which may well come to Iran's aid, should it be invaded, have weaponry the US military can only wet-dream about; sorry for being blunt, but because of their close relationship with both the Pentagon and Congress, and contributing lavishly to the campaigns of politicians on both sides of the aisle, our military industrial complex has been consistently behind the 8 ball, in staying at least two steps ahead of where our international competitors are, in terms of developing lower cost weapons that just... do the job brilliantly.

Please understand; as a Christian pacifist activist, I hate war; but if such a war happens, I want to see our brothers and sisters in uniform equipped with the best, most brilliantly crafted weaponry that actually works as advertised, and beyond.

So, we have a the US government hopelessly indebted to its creditors, and a potential coming world war, where our military doesnt' have the money, the manufacturing, the troop strength, or weaponry to insure a positive outcome in a world war, ultimately against Russia, and China.

This is a potential recipe for a complete, unmitigated disaster for this country, the consequences of which may be both horrific... and irreversible.

And we have a companion piece this morning, from blackistednews.com:

Saudi-led airstrikes hit civilians in Yemen
If We, the People, do nothing, in the most peaceful, logical way possible, to get US involvement in these US-enabled Saudi war crimes in Yemen to stop, then We the People are also, absolutely and unequivocally, complicit in these war crimes as well.

In Major Concession, Trump Will Allow Iran To Remain Connected To SWIFT

In a stark reversal from its position just days earlier, the Trump administration is expected to allow Iran to remain connected to the SWIFT banking system the Washington Examiner reports, in what amounts to a major concession to European allies who have been pressuring senior U.S. officials to keep this key lifeline to the Islamic Republic open.

As recently as this weekend, Reuters reported that in order to further isolate Iran from the global financial community, Treasury Secretary Mnuchin said that the U.S. Treasury was in negotiations with the Belgian-based financial messaging service SWIFT which intermediates the bulk of the world’s cross-border dollar-denominated transactions, on disconnecting Iran from the network. Washington has been pressuring SWIFT to cut Iran from the system as it did in 2012 before the nuclear deal.

US New Sanctions against Iran to Deviate Public Opinion from Khashoggi's Murder

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif blasted Washington for imposing new sanctions on his country, saying that they are aimed at deflecting the world public opinion from the killing of prominent journalist Jamal Khashoggi by the US ally, Saudi Arabia.

"To deflect from headlines on Saudi brutality in Istanbul and across Yemen, US Treasury—while in Saudi Arabia, no less—sanctions Iran for 'supporting' anti-Iran Taliban. Conveniently omitting that US is negotiating with the very same Taliban now and its clients have long backed it,” Zarif wrote on his twitter page on Wednesday.

The US Treasury Department on Tuesday imposed sanctions against eight individuals, including two allegedly linked to the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and accused Iran of providing material and financial support to the militants and supporting terrorism.

Iran's Rouhani: 'Saudi Wouldn't Have Killed Khashoggi Without US Approval'

With roughly one week left before the US reimposes sanctions on Iranian exports that could hamper Iranian crude-oil exports, Hassan Rouhani, the president of the Islamic Republic, accused the US of officially sanctioning the murder of Saudi journalist-turned-critic Jamal Khashoggi, arguing that no country would carry out such a heinous crime "without the protection of America."

While the US probably won't bother to dignify Rouhani's allegations with a response, reports that US intelligence agencies had intercepted communications about the plot to ambush Khashoggi suggest that the US had an idea that Khashoggi might be killed upon returning to the consulate. And knowing this, they did nothing to warn Khashoggi or the Saudis, despite Khashoggi's status as a US resident writing for a prominent national newspaper.

Khashoggi murder has set back US-Israel effort to confront Iran

The uproar over the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul October 2 is obviously the biggest story in the world right now and though Israel is maintaining a strategic silence so as not to hurt its new ally, responses to the outrage in the U.S. are not all ideological, or ascribable to the Israel lobby.

The thrust of American mainstream commentary on the case appears to be: the murder is too much to swallow, but Saudi Arabia is too valuable an ally to lose, given the US-Israeli-Saudi alliance against Iran and the Saudi role of imposing a possible “deal” on the Palestinians. So Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman needs to get out of the way.

Israel is already a big loser in the fallout from the murder, as it is throwing shade on Israel’s rightwing friends, including Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law and Mideast negotiator and counterpart of bin Salman.

The White Helmets Ride Again

There are two notable groups that should be universally condemned as terrorists but are not for political reasons. They are the Mujaheddin e Khalq (MEK), Iranian dissidents that are based in Paris and Washington, and the so-called White Helmets who have been active in Syria. MEK is particularly liked by Israel and its friends inside the Beltway because it retains resources inside Iran that enable it to carry out assassinations and sabotage, and if it is only Iranians that are dying, that’s okay.

US pressures SWIFT to cut off Iran from global banking transactions to enforce sanctions

The US aims to disconnect Iran from the SWIFT global payment network as part of new economic sanctions against the Islamic Republic in November. Disconnection from network would make it difficult for Iran to get paid for exports.

Envoy to UN: US has killed 66 Iranian children

The official reminded that the US had vetoed 44 resolutions targeting Israel at the Security Council, while the regime itself had breached all the 300 resolutions that had so far been ratified against it.

"The regime is the number one violator of the Council's resolutions," he said.

And So It Begins: U.S. brings first charge against Russian for meddling in 2018 midterm elections

The Justice Department has brought its first criminal case over alleged Russian interference in the 2018 midterm elections.

Elena Khusyaynova, 44, a St. Petersburg, Russia-based accountant, was charged in a criminal complaint with conspiracy to defraud the United States for taking part in a scheme to spend in excess of $10 million since the beginning of the year on targeted social media ads and web postings intended “to sow division and discord in the U.S. political system.”

Khusyaynova, who is not in U.S. custody, allegedly works for Concord, a Russia-based firm that special counsel Robert Mueller's office indicted in February for alleged interference in the 2016 election.

The Insidious Wiles of Foreign Influence: Trump, Bin Salman, and Netanyahu

Even if the Saudi monarchy or Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in particular did not murder journalist Jamal Khashoggi, that regime is an especially evil one in both its domestic and international conduct. To see that, one need only consider the horrendous Saudi war against the people of Yemen, which has been backed by the U.S. government since Barack Obama was in office. That war, with its merciless killing of defenseless thousands, spread of disease, and inevitable benefits to al-Qaeda, is just the latest in a series Saudi atrocities.

Khashoggi and first principles

This whole dismemberment thing could have, and normally should have, gone away in a couple days ('journalists' just stop writing and talking about it, and poof! it's gone), yet it continues to linger, and perhaps even intensify (this is nuts, something that would have been incomprehensible a few months ago!: "Lindsey Graham Wants to ‘Sanction the Hell Out of Saudi Arabia’ Until Crown Prince Is Ousted").

French Forces to Set Up Military Base in Raqqa

The Arabic-language Baladi News website affiliated to the terrorists reported on Thursday that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are busy with drilling operations in an area stretching from the Brigade 17 region to Sahlat al-Banat region in Northeast of Raqqa city and from Sahlat al-Banat region to the North of the Sugar plant in Northern Raqqa.

It added that operations to build the walls and construction of buildings in the area will start after drilling operations, noting that a military base is due to be set up for the French forces with the aim of supporting the SDF in Raqqa.

According to the report, the US military troops are in talks with the SDF to further equip al-Tabaqah airbase in Western Raqqa and turn it into their new military base in the region next year.

Sources in the past few months said that the French army has sent weapons, military equipment and forces to Raqqa.

Webmaster's Commentary:

OK, let me get my head around this: The US military has invited the French military to further invade and disrupt life in Syria, and will not hesitate, against the will of the Syrian government, and their Russian and Iranian counterparts, to establish a permanent military base in Raqqa, in order to engage in military actions against all of them, as they see fit?!?

Folks, given that Russia is still very active here, and Israel has threatened to take out the newly installed S-300 self-defense systems, we may be a lot closer to war in Syria than many of us had wanted to believe

‘Disregard for Rule of Law & Human Rights’: Iran’s FM Zarif Slams US Sanctions

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif slammed the US, saying that its latest economic sanctions against Iranian banks and companies violated International Court of Justice (ICJ) orders.

Zarif said on Twitter Wednesday that the sanctions the US Treasury has recently imposed on two Iranian banks and companies allegedly linked to Iran’s Basij militia violated at least two ICJ orders: “not impede humanitarian trade & to not aggravate the dispute.”

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – OCTOBER 18, 2018: ISRAEL IS PREPARING TO CHALLENGE S-300 IN SYRIA

Two F-15 warplanes of the US-led coalition accidentally struck a unit of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which was involved in the SDF advance on ISIS in the Euphrates Valley, the Russian news agency Sputnik reported on October 17. The strike reportedly killed 6 SDF members and inured 15 others. ISIS terrorists also attacked SDF positions following the incident, according to the report.

Despite initial claims by the SDF leadership that the terrorists in the area will soon be defeated there are no signs that the operation will be finished in the near future. The Russian side even claims that the US-led coalition is using the Hajin pocket to justify its illegal presence in the country. So, nobody is hurrying to defeat the terrorists.

The Trump administration is preparing to impose sanctions on Russian and Iranian companies involved in the reconstruction of Syria, NBC News reported on October 16 citing defense officials.
