‘Get it right!’ Israeli consulate spars with US journalist over Gaza headlines

An American journalist who pointed out the extensive edits the New York Times made to its article about the Israeli bombing of Gaza found himself in a heated Twitter argument with the Israeli consulate.

A Twitter account “Editing The Gray Lady,” which tracks edits to the Times, revealed on Monday how the US paper of record changed its headlines and copy to describe the events in Gaza.

“Incredible propaganda,” Ben Norton, a New York-based writer for The Real News, commented on the edits, adding that the Times “bent over backward and rewrote its article to erase how Israel initiated the violence in Gaza, obscuring the fact that Gaza's self-defense was ‘retaliatory’ and instead pushing the covert Israeli operation until the end.”

Israeli Coalition on Brink of Collapse as Hawks Rage Over Gaza Ceasefire

In Israeli politics, wars against the Palestinians tend to be winning issues, especially for far-right governments. That’s why Monday’s flare-up in Gaza thrilled hawks in the current coalition. Peace, however, is another matter. Peace threatens to collapse the coalition government outright.

Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman, an outspoken opponent of the ceasefire in Gaza, quit on Wednesday morning. Education Minister Naftali Bennett could be close behind, as he’s demanding the defense portfolio job, or he’ll pull his party out as well.

Though Netanyahu desperately wants to avoid early elections, it’s not clear how he’s going to be able to. Indications are that he wants to keep the defense ministry for himself, and even then giving it to Bennett, who reportedly laid out a plan for conquering Gaza during the security cabinet, is probably not a real option.

Another biased pro-Israel ‘NY Times’ report about the latest violence in Gaza

Once again, the New York Times puts a pro-Israel slant on the latest violence in the beleaguered open air prison of Gaza. The paper’s correspondents, who are veterans at distortion, deployed some of the usual time-honored techniques in an article that appeared today:

Dwell on victims in Israel, but brush past dead or injured Palestinians. One person died in Israel, but he got 10 full paragraphs of coverage. We learned about his personal history, his family, and what his apartment in Ashkelon looked like after the Palestinian missile hit it. (The dead man, Mahmoud Abu Asaba, turned out to be a Palestinian himself, originally from the West Bank, who worked inside Israel as a contractor.)

Here was the Times article’s lead paragraph, which describes how Abu Asaba’s wife barely escaped:

6 RECENT US ANTIWAR PROTESTS THE MEDIA DOESN'T WANT YOU TALKING ABOUT

A friend told me yesterday that he hadn’t seen an antiwar protest in America in ten years. It was a sincere comment; he genuinely hadn’t seen any coverage on any peace activism in his country during that time. And of course he hadn’t; it is mainstream media’s job to distort public narratives in favor of the war-hungry plutocratic class which owns the media outlets. But I’ve actually been noticing a lot of antiwar activism lately which, while often far from the spotlight of mass media attention, has given me much hope for the future.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Foreign policy in this country is ultimately outsourced to the people/countries who, and which, can pay the most for it.

Right now, the highest bidders, and owners, for US foreign policy are, respectively, Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Israel has shared an absolutely, fact-free, poisoned narration of its relationship with Gaza, the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and all of the rest of the countries which surround it with President Trump, and he has absolutely taken the bait. Of course that "bait" was "sweetened" by the very generous donations of the casino mogul, Sheldon Adelson, and his wife Miriam.

Sheldon and Miriam Adelson gave $55 milion in September to support Trump and the Republicans

That is why The unhinged, surveilled state of Amerika, is in such a loop of endless wars, followed by new wars, with no real justification for why it must be the US who must fight them in the first place. The "Payoffs" to Adelson and Israel were:

1. The US declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel
2. The withdrawal of the US from the P5+1 agreement, and the imposition of horrific sanctions against Iran, and putting the US on a "war footing" against Iran, which Israel sees as its "existential threat" in the region
3. Massively more money for Israel's military
4. Keeping US troops in Syria "to answer the "scourge" of Iranian troops staying in that country, coordinating with the Russian and Syrian troops, to wipe out the last of the US-funded jihadists (This, potentially, may lead to a hot war in Russia, but hey, who cares?!?)
5. Cutting off any funds for humanitarian aid for Gaza
6. The awarding of the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Miriam Adelson
Miriam Adelson Receives the Presidential Medal of Freedom
(Wow; I guess that in current circles, that can be bought also)
7. Letting Prime Minister Netanyahu have an absolutely free hand with the Palestinians, including stealing and annexing their land, which has belonged to Palestinian families for generations, and engineering borders encroaching Palestinian residents' land for use by the the illegal Jewish settlers, which means that it is now impossible for the Palestinians to have a contiguous state.
6. President Trump's NOT reading the riot act when Israel passed the controversial nation-state law Israel passes nation State Law. The bill went on to state: "Israel passed early Thursday a controversial bill that officially defines Israel as the national homeland of the Jewish people and asserts that "the realization of the right to national self-determination in Israel is unique to the Jewish people," sparking outrage from Israel's Arab community and provoking concern from the international community."

Now, let us turn to President Trump's other BFF,Saudi Arabia's Prince Mohammed bin Salman, AKA, the Butcher of Yemen. And what has the "payoff" been here for Saudi Arabia?!?

1. The opportunity to purchase lots of weapons with which to create a genocide in Yemen.

In fact, President Trump and the US's own Mike Pompeo thought this so important that he lied to Congress about what Saudi Arabia was going to do with those weapons. Pompeo lied to Congress about Yemen to protect Arms Sales
2. The US has aided and abetted Saudi war crimes in Yemen, which include:

A - The deliberate killing of infants, women, and the medically fragile elderly. Images; Yemeni children slaughtered or maimed for live, courtesy of Saudi bombing raids

B - The US-enabled blockading of Yemen ports, leading to massive starvation, and a cholera epidemic (possibly weaponized):

Images: Yemeni children dying from malnutrition

Images: Yemeni children sicked by cholera

3. The deafening conspiracy of silence on this war from the American Presstitutes.

4. Possible assistance from the US on starting up a nuclear weapons program Congress members want Trump to report on Saudi Arabia's nuclear ambitions

5. A covert, but growing alliance with Israel against their alleged common enemy, Iran.

6. The US giving the Prince "cover" on Saudi Arabia's brutal execution of Adnan Khashoggi, even though this may well have been planned by the Crown Prince himself.

It is sobering to think, that President Trump's two BFFs in the Middle East, are the most ruthless, tyrannical leaders in that part of the world; Israel's Prime Minister, Benyamin Netanyahu, the Butcher of Gaza, and Saudi Crown Prince bin Salman, the Butcher of Yemen.

Last week NJ Senator Cory Booker used the Pittsburgh massacre, the most violent outbreak of anti-Semitism in US history, to justify taking a stance against Palestinian rights. He said that he would sponsor the Israel Anti-Boycott Act, a Senate bill that criminalizes some forms of support for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign (BDS)– as if the demand for Palestinian rights is an expression of hatred for Jews.

Billboard celebrating Gaza’s heroic first responders outside Boston is taken down under pressure — updated

Nearly 3 weeks into its planned 4-week run, an electronic billboard honoring first responders in the Gaza Strip was pulled November 13th because the billboard company received phone calls and email complaints calling their staff terrorists and anti-Semites, and threatening a boycott.

The Palestine Advocacy Project sponsored the billboard on Interstate 93 near Boston to highlight the desperate situation in the Gaza strip, and to emphasize the humanity and agency of the people of Gaza, who are often portrayed as terrorists or victims. The billboard included a photo of deceased Palestinian medic Razan al-Najjar and text reading: “Honoring the First Responders of Gaza. Saving Lives. Rescuing Hope.” It was estimated to be viewed by over a half million motorists each week of its planned 4-week run, beginning 24 October. The billboard was met with positive media coverage.

When murder is permissible: Israel’s ‘targeted assassinations’

One of the anomalies of political Zionism is that, while it was founded as a response to murderous pogroms against European and Russian Jews as a means to rescue them from such treatment by having a safe haven to go to, the founding fathers of the State of Israel and their successors have had no qualms about inflicting terrible suffering and hardship on others in order to achieve their aims. The stated aim of making sure that the ultimate pogrom called the Holocaust, for example, will “never again” befall the Jews, has meant that “again and again” is the rule with regards to Israel’s violations against the Palestinians and anyone else deemed to be an enemy.

Is Israel turning a blind eye as Israeli scammers swindle victims in France, US, elsewhere?

French and Israeli media report that a group largely made up of Israelis scammed 3,000 French citizens out of approximately $20 million. Most of the stolen money is in Israel, but Israeli authorities are reportedly failing to cooperate with France in prosecuting the scammers and retrieving the money.

This is the latest of numerous examples of Israeli officials stone-walling international efforts against the perpetrators of massive financial swindles around the world, according to Israeli investigative journalists and others. These scams have brought estimated billions into the Israeli economy, propping up a regime widely condemned for human rights abuses and ethnic cleansing against indigenous Palestinians. Together, the stories paint a picture of a government that seems to be turning a blind eye to – and even protecting – scammers.

Israeli Government Target Educational Institutions, Escalate Settlements Activities

In a clear violation of all laws and human rights principles, including the right to education and access to educational institutions, many Palestinian schools in the countryside and Bedouin communities were attacked by Israeli soldiers and settlers.

The Oref and Luban Sharqeia schools south of Nablus were attacked. 7 students were injured during the attack.

There were also shooting attacks by settlers and the Israeli occupation forces in the yard of Al-Tahadi 5 Elementary School in the village of Beit Ta’mir, east of Bethlehem, and the Tahadi 10 School in the Ibzik area in the occupied Northern Valleys. A number of caravans used as classrooms were destroyed.

The Israeli occupation forces handed down notices to demolish the Dabba Elementary school in Mafasser Yatta, south of Hebron, and to expel its teachers and students. They also hindered access to a school on Ramallah’s main Nablus Street.

Israel kills Gaza fisher despite ceasefire

Israel killed a fisherman in Gaza less than 24 hours after a ceasefire ended intensive bombing against and rocket fire from the territory.

Gaza’s health ministry identified the slain man as Nawaf Ahmad al-Attar, 20.

The head of Gaza’s fishers union said that Israeli soldiers positioned on land shot at al-Attar when he was only 30 meters into the sea in northern Gaza.

Israel restricted access to the sea for fishing since Monday evening, according to the rights group Gisha.

On Wednesday Israel partly lifted the restrictions but banned fishers from working in the waters of northern Gaza, accounting for one-third of the coastline.

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – NOVEMBER 15, 2018: ISRAELI DEFENSE MINISTER RESIGNS AMID SETBACKS IN GAZA, SYRIA

On November 14, Avigdor Lieberman announced his resignation describing the Egyptian-mediated ceasefire with Hamas in the Gaza Strip as “a capitulation to terror”. Lieberman added that he fiercely objected to Israel’s allowing Qatar to deliver $15m in aid to Gaza last week.

Hamas called Lieberman’s resignation a “political victory for Gaza.” Hamas spokesperson Sami Abu Zuhri said that this development marked “recognition of defeat and failure to confront the Palestinian resistance”, adding that “Gaza’s steadfastness sent a political shockwave” through Israel.

Israel Wins 2018 Midterm Election

Judging from the mainstream media, Israel was not a major issue in the midterm election but it sure did come up a lot when candidates for office were wooing Jewish or Evangelical voters. To cite only one example, Florida Congressman Ron DeSantis criticized his opponent Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum during their gubernatorial race for receiving support from the Dream Defenders, a group favoring Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) against Israel, and giving a speech welcoming members of the Council on American-Islamic Relations to his city. DeSantis claimed in a video clip that “I can find anti-Semites around him, but it’s almost like ‘we don’t want to discuss that.’”

DeSantis, who sponsored the 2013 Palestinian Accountability Act which called for the withholding of U.S. aid to the Palestinian Authority until it recognizes Israel as a Jewish state, charged that Gillum would not be a “friend” of Israel. In 2017, he co-founded the Congressional Israel Victory Caucus, saying “Israel is our strongest ally in the Middle East, as we share common national interests and possess similar national values. Israel is not the problem in the Middle East; it is the solution to many of the problems that bedevil the region. American policy must ensure that Israel emerges victorious against those who deny or threaten her existence.”>>>

Bolton Vows to ‘Squeeze’ Iran, Escalating Sanctions

With the newly reimposed US sanctions against Iran having little to no perceivable economic impact, national security adviser John Bolton is talking up his plans to continue to escalate the sanctions track, saying he will “squeeze Iran until the pips squeak.”

Bolton shrugged off the reality that Iran is still doing business internationally, saying that he believes Iran is “under real pressure” from the sanctions, and that he’s determined to see it keep getting worse.

Bolton went on to predict that the European efforts to keep trading with Iran would ultimately fail. He said the Europeans are going through the six stages of grief, and would ultimately lead to European acceptance of the US demands.

Webmaster's Commentary:

With sa growing number of countries ignoring the sanctions outright, what does Bolton think the US should do with all the countries still trading outright, declare war on them?!?

A familiar invasion: Settlers take another mountain top, soldiers follow, and Palestinians demonstrate for their rights

It was the day before Eid al-Adha last summer, and millions of Palestinian Muslims across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, Gaza, and Israel were preparing for the biggest holiday of the year.

But when the residents of the Ramallah-area village of Kafr Ni’ma woke up, expecting to spend the day decorating their homes and preparing sweets for the visitors they would receive the following morning, they were shocked to find a group of visitors on the outskirts of the town.

“The settlers came in the middle of the night, no one knew. By morning they had paved a road up to the mountain, set up their tents, and had soldiers protecting them,” Zafer Attayah, a resident of Kfar Ni’ma told Mondoweiss.

Palestinian resistance imposes new rules of engagement with Israel

A ceasefire brokered by four international mediators took effect in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday afternoon, ending two days of violence which started when Israel assassinated a senior Hamas commander during an incursion by Special Forces, an act to which the Palestinians retaliated. The Israelis killed seven Palestinians and wounded 26, while one senior Israeli officer was killed and 90 others were wounded; most of them, said the Israeli media, sustained light wounds.

Israeli army sources said that the Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip fired 460 rockets, and the “Iron Dome” air defence system intercepted just 100 of them. The rockets caused damage in a number of facilities in the illegal Israeli settlements around Gaza, as well as in the coastal city of Ashkelon. Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation forces carried out 160 air strikes on Palestinian targets, including residential buildings, resistance sites and government offices.

Jewish Politics in America – A Post Political View

In 1994 I enrolled in a postgraduate course in philosophy at a British University. On my first day at the University I had to complete a few routine administrative duties such as registering my name with the philosophy department and meeting my supervisors. I was also told that I had to join the student union. Being a subservient type, I walked over to the Student Union hall where I soon realized that the task was slightly more complicated than I had expected. There were a plethora of student unions to choose from: The Black Student Union, The Asian Student Association, The Socialist Students, The Gay Student Society and more. Confused, I asked for assistance. They asked where I was from. When I told them “Israel,” I was told that the “Jewish Student Union” was my home.

Israeli Tanks Prepare Imminent Gaza Offensive After "Green Light" For "Major Retaliation"

Commenting on Monday's flare-up of rocket fire after a prior Israeli commando raid into Gaza territory to assassinate Hamas leaders, the Jerusalem Post observed that Hamas' retaliation included "the most amount of rockets ever fired into Israel in 24 hours."

Various international reports have cited over 300 rockets and mortars fired into Israeli, which began with a sustained barrage of about 100 within the first hour of the launches alone. What's been dubbed as a "revenge" attack on heels of Monday funeral prayers for slain Hamas commanders killed by Israeli special forces were quickly met with widespread airstrikes on the strip, including on a Hamas television broadcast building, and some 70 targets in total across the strip.

Meanwhile there appears preparations for what could be a major war and full Israeli invasion of Gaza underway as tank units have been observed mustering at entry points into Gaza.

The military analyst industrial complex – not known for reining in the military ambitions of US presidents – has struck back at Donald Trump’s call to shoot immigrants at the US border if they throw rocks.

“They want to throw rocks at our military, our military fights back,” the first-term president has declared. “I told them to consider it a rifle. When they throw rocks like what they did to the Mexican military and police I say consider it a rifle.”

Former Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel responded on CNN: “My reaction in listening to that, coming from the commander in chief of our forces, president of the United States, is one of disgust. That’s a wanton incitement of unnecessary violence. It’s a distraction. It’s a distortion.”

Trump gives highest U.S. civilian honour, the Medal of Freedom, to top GOP donor

U.S. President Donald Trump awarded the Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honour in the U.S., to seven individuals Saturday, both living and dead — one of whom has been the biggest donor to the Republican Party.

Miriam Adelson was awarded the Medal of Freedom. She is married to Sheldon Adelson, a billionaire Las Vegas casino magnate and another GOP megadonor.

The Adelsons recently contributed $113 million to GOP causes during the 2018 election cycle. Among those donations, the couple gave $25 million in July to the Senate Leadership Fund, $2 million in September to ESA Fund, $3 million in July and September to the Republican Governors Association and roughly $40 million between May and September to the Congressional Leadership Fund, according to Politico.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This award, and the Adelsons' donations, bring some things about this administration, perfectly into focus.

The Adelson money has "bought" US foreign policy, particularly in the Middle East, where everything Israel wants, it gets granted; the Palestinians continue to get slaughtered; and Iran is in the crosshairs of the US for a shooting war and regime change.

ISRAEL KILLS 7 DURING GAZA RAID, ISRAELI OFFICER KILLED

Israeli forces killed seven Palestinians in the Gaza Strip on Sunday in air strikes and an undercover raid that Hamas said targeted one of its commanders and the Israeli military said left one of its officers dead, Reuters reports.

The Israeli incursion and air attacks drew rocket fire from the Hamas-controlled enclave, with sirens sounding in Israeli communities along the border. The military said its defences intercepted two of the launches. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage on the Israeli side of the frontier.

The violence prompted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to cut short a visit to Paris, where he had been gathering with world leaders for a World War One commemoration.

Hamas said the incident began when assailants in a passing car opened fire on a group of its armed men, killing one of its commanders. Hamas gunmen gave chase as the car sped back towards the border with Israel, Hamas said in a statement.

Hezbollah Leader Vows to Respond to Any Israeli Attack on Lebanon - Reports

Historically tense relations between Israel and the Lebanon-based group hit a new low this autumn after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Hezbollah of building a missile factory and hiding it in the civilian infrastructure of Beirut's international airport.

During a televised speech on Saturday, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said that the movement would retaliate against any Israeli attack on Lebanon.

"Any attack will definitely and certainly be responded to," he said.

Speaking at the UN General Assembly in September, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu provided satellite images of what he claimed were Hezbollah precision-guided missile installations at Beirut's international airport. He also accused the group of using Beirut's residents as human shields and emphasized that Israel would 'not let [Hezbollah] get away with' their behaviour.

Webmaster's Commentary:

At least, Netanyahu wasn't showing off "An Iranian cartoon bomb" this year; but things are getting immensely tense in the region, and one stupid mistake, one simple misunderstanding, could lead to a military showdown between Israel, Lebanon, and Iran.

And on such a potential for horrific violence, I would politely like to ask President Trump to pick his battles in such a conflict very, very carefully.

US Hopes Russia Will Allow Israel to Bomb Iranian Forces in Syria

The US is seeking to push all foreign military forces from Syria, the US ambassador to the country said. Besides Russian ones, of course.

US Ambassador to Syria James Jeffrey said Wednesday that Washington hopes Russia will allow Israeli forces to bomb Iranian military forces in Syrian territory after the delivery of S-300 air defense systems.

"Russia has been permissive, in consultation with the Israelis, about Israeli strikes against Iranian targets inside Syria. We certainly hope that that permissive approach will continue," Jeffrey said during a press conference, according to Business Insider.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I don't know the Russian translation of "no way!" is, but I am hoping that is what the Russians will tell the Israelis.

Should such a thing happen, if an Israeli plane is able to "take out" one of the S-300 systems, you will most likely find the Russian forces in hot, military pursuit.

And of course, the US would have to defend Israel, militarily, in Syria, so the danger may be both real and critically and far beyond any way of "defusing" of the situation.

Israel Seeks Closer Cooperation with Gulf States over Fears of Iran – Report

The visit of Israeli Transportation and Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz to Oman earlier this week has signaled a change of policy in the region, observers say.

Earlier this week, Katz arrived in Oman — reportedly to propose a new railway project that would connect Israel's Haifa to the Persian Gulf through Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

During his visit, he also called for stronger relations with the Persian Gulf Arab states in civilian sectors such as transportation, commercial aviation and tourism, PressTV reports.

Iran's Leadership Must Decide "If They Want Their People To Eat" - Pompeo

Less than a week after US Secretary of State Secretary Mike Pompeo told Fox News Sunday that the "Iranians are responsible for the starvation' of Yemeni civilians" he's again issued hugely provocative words, telling the BBC during an interview that Iranian "leadership has to make a decision that they want their people to eat" in reference to the latest round of US sanctions.

As the interview was with BBC Persian, Pompeo's words were immediately translated from English and broadcast to the Iranian public through BBC's Persian-language publication. Pompeo repeated his theme that Iran is the world's foremost state sponsor of terror and a "destabilizing influence" in the Middle East while ultimately blaming the country's economic suffering on the intransigence of the country's leaders.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That this guy can stand there and lie, while people in Yemen continue to die, due to US/Saudi war crimes, including bombing sorties; the creation of starvation through blockading Yemen's ports, and destroying the water infrastructure, allowing thousands of Yemeni to die of cholera, must be an amazing gift in the wacky world of DC.

Sorry, Mike, but as long as you are going to continue to lie about the situation on the ground, I will stay compelled, as a Christian pacifist activist, to document what the US/Saudi war against Yemen is actually doing. (warning: very graphic images):

Images: Yemeni children dead and maimed for life, courtesy of US-enabled bombing runs

Images: Yemeni children dying from malnutrition, courtesy of US Military-enabled Saudi Yemen port blockade

Images: Yemeni children treated for, and dying of cholera, possibly weaponized

Notice that none of the presstitutes and warmongers on corporate media are not saying a word about the Saudi genocide in Yemen, which is why I must.

U.S. arms exports up 13 percent over 2017 as Trump champions deals

- U.S. arms sales to foreign governments rose 13 percent to $192.3 billion in the year ending Sept. 30, the State Department said on Thursday, a result of looser restrictions on sales coupled with high-level efforts to close deals.

President Donald Trump wants to make the United States, already dominant in the global weapons trade, an even bigger arms merchant to the world, U.S. officials have said, despite concerns among human rights and arms control advocates.

The largest U.S. arms contractors, who sell ships, tanks, airplanes, missiles and other goods to foreign militaries, include Boeing Co (BA.N), Lockheed Martin Corp (LMT.N), Raytheon Co (RTN.N), General Dynamics Corp (GD.N) and Northrop Grumman Corp (NOC.N).

The increase came in part because the Trump administration rolled out a new “Buy American” plan in April that relaxed restrictions on sales while encouraging U.S. officials to take a bigger role in increasing business overseas for the U.S. weapons industry

Webmaster's Commentary:

I never used to believe that the US would tolerate a President masquerading as its Merchant of Death in Chief; now, it appears we have one.

FRANCE SUPPORTING IRAN AGAINST US ‘TRADE POLICEMAN’

France has vowed to fulfill plans to defy the US’ sanctions on Iran while increasing the international role of the euro in order to prevent Washington from acting as the world’s “trade policeman”.

France’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Bruno Le Maire, told the British newspaper Financial Times that Europe is planning the formation of a special financial channel to Iran in order to keep trade flowing with the country and assure its own “economic sovereignty”, with the aim of making the euro as powerful as the dollar.

“Europe refuses to allow the US to be the trade policeman of the world,” Le Maire stated in an interview in Brussels, emphasising that Europe must “affirm our sovereignty” in regards to the US sanctions on Iran and its wider economic hegemony.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These sanctions placed by the US, are beginning to blow up in President Trump's face, somewhat akin to the actions of a bad trick cigar.

So, what does President Trump intend to do with those countries who will not observe the sanctions, go to war against them?!?

In withdrawing from the P5 +1 agreement, plus his never-ending sanctions against Russia and China, President Trump has set this country up for some really intense economic challenges, for which I do not believe he has any clue as to how to alleviate.

Just ask any American soybean farmer as China has stopped buy American soybeans:

Their Soybeans Piling Up, Farmers Hope Trade War Ends Before Beans Rot

Rather than punishing Iran, Russia and China, President Trump should be engaging the leadership of all three countries in a positive, constructive way, because if human civilization is going to survive on this planet, that has to come from universal cooperation, one country with the other, and the elimination of war as "the only way" in which DC resolves its geopolitical and financial issues.

Banksy brings Separation Wall to London

Internationally-renowned street artist Banksy caused a frenzy today after bringing a piece of the occupied West Bank’s Separation Wall to central London.

The Separation Wall was featured at the World Travel Market at London’s Excel event centre today, marking the first time Banksy has participated in a travel exhibition. The colossal concrete structure – daubed with an image of two cherubs trying to break through its cracks – caused a frenzy among the exhibition’s attendees, with scores of people flocking to see the iconic image.

People queued across the centre to get a glimpse of the artwork, while Banksy posters, Palestinian scarves and traditional cuisine were handed out to those waiting in line. Despite being one of the smallest stands in the Middle East hall, security struggled to contain the number of people surrounding Palestine’s stand.

Shattering the myth of Rabin as the ‘man of peace’

Every year, to coincide with the Israeli Labour Party’s commemoration of the anniversary of the assassination of former Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin (November 4, 1995), we hear voices claiming that this assassination killed the “peace” he was aspiring to achieve.

Within these voices one can find one or a couple of Arab voices also convinced that Rabin’s past strongly indicates that he was in the process of challenging all the traditional red lines of this peace, which were almost unanimous among Israeli public opinion. However, they are too many to list in this article.

Shin Bet, Israel army oppose plan to worsen conditions for Palestinian prisoners

Plans by Israel’s Interior Security Minister Gilad Erdan to worsen the conditions for Palestinian prisoners have encountered “wide opposition” from the Israeli military and Shin Bet.

According to the report in Haaretz, representatives of various security organisations “warned about the possible consequences of such a move” in a debate this week, “saying it could escalate tensions within the prisons and agitate the Palestinian public in the West Bank and Gaza Strip”.

An Erdan-appointed committee has recommended “removing the customary division in various branches between prisoners identified with Fatah and those identified with Hamas, reduction in family visits for prisoners from the West Bank, prohibiting purchase of food items from outside the prison and revocation of privileges to make purchases at the prison canteen”.

Eight months in and three Palestinian ministries announced aid packages which included urgent aid to the tune of $5 million to be sent on 50,000 families, $200 monthly for 5,000 families of Palestinians killed or severely wounded during the “Great March of Return”, the payment of 60 per cent of July’s salaries for civil servants and the creation of 10,000 jobs aimed at university graduates.

Leaked Documentary Shows Israel Lobby Used Fake Sexual Assault Claims Against BDS Activists

A leaked Al Jazeera documentary detailing the tactics of the Israeli lobby in the United States and elsewhere has revealed that pro-Israel groups regularly invented smears, including false accusations of sexual assault, to discredit professors and students on U.S. university campuses that support equal rights for Palestinians and the Boycott, Divest and Sanctions (BDS) movement. BDS is a non-violent movement that seeks to use economic pressure on Israel’s government so that it complies with international law, ends the military occupation of the West Bank, and halts the decades-long blockade of the Gaza Strip.

Police recommend indicting Netanyahu lawyer over German subs

Israeli police are recommending that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's trusted personal attorney be indicted in a conflict-of-interest case involving a $2 billion purchase of German submarines.

Police said on Thursday they have sufficient evidence to charge David Shimron with bribery and money laundering offenses for his role in the affair.

Shimron, who is also Netanyahu's cousin, represented the German manufacturer Thyssenkrupp involved in the sale and has been suspected of trading his influence over the prime minister in return for a hefty cut of the deal.

Police also recommended indicting a former Cabinet minister, a former navy chief and former Netanyahu chief of staff in the affair.

Israel approves 640 new settlement units in Jerusalem

Israeli District Planning and Building Committee in Jerusalem approved on Tuesday the construction of 640 new settlement units in the illegal settlement of Ramat Shlomo, Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported.

The illegal settlement of Ramat Shlomo is located between the Jerusalem neighbourhoods of Beit Hanina and Shuafat.

According to the newspaper, the committee rejected appeals by anti-settlement group Ir Amim, which argued the new settler units would be built on privately owned Palestinian land.

The NGO described the committee’s decision as a “step that violates the property rights of Palestinian landowners through and through.”

It also said: “This decision is additional proof that Israeli control in East Jerusalem means a regime based on serious discrimination.”

Brazilian president’s two sons wearing Israeli army and Mossad t-shirts

Eduardo and Carlos, the sons of Bolsonaro, had visited Israel while wearing t-shirts bearing the IDF and Mossad logos. The photo was published on Eduardo’s Twitter account in 2016.

The Unraveling Of The Netanyahu Project For The Middle East

Nahum Barnea, a leading Israeli commentator, writing in Yedioth Ahronoth in May (in Hebrew), set out, unambiguously, the ‘deal’ behind Trump’s Middle East policy:

In the wake of the US exit from JCPOA [which occurred on 8 May], Trump, Barnea wrote, will threaten a rain of ‘fire and fury’ onto Tehran … whilst Putin is expected to restrain Iran from attacking Israel using Syrian territory, thus leaving Netanyahu free to set new ‘rules of the game’ by which the Israel may attack and destroy Iranian forces anywhere in Syria (and not just in the border area, as earlier agreed) when it wishes, without fear of retaliation.

This represented one level to the Netanyahu strategy: Iranian restraint, plus Russian acquiescence to coordinated Israeli air operations over Syria.

Minister: Israel might destroy Syrian S-300s, even if manned by Russians

An Israeli cabinet minister has warned that if the Syrians use their recently supplied advanced Russian air defense missiles to bring down Israeli planes over Israeli territory, the launchers would be targeted — even if that means endangering Russian military specialists at the launch sites.

Environmental Protection Minister Ze’ev Elkin, who is also co-chair of the Russia-Israel Intergovernmental Commission, told Russian media Monday that it was a “big mistake” for Moscow to supply its ally Syria with the S-300 missile system, because the advanced missiles, which are considered a significant threat to Israeli air power in the area, “might lead to destabilization of the situation.”

Bolton: More Sanctions Against Iran Are Coming

On Monday, the US completed the reimposition of all US sanctions against Iran which had been relaxed under the P5+1 nuclear deal. President Trump withdrew the US from the deal in May, and there was a six month window after the announcement before sanctions could be resumed.

According to national security adviser John Bolton, this is only the beginning. During a Monday interview with Fox Business, Bolton insisted that the administration plans to “even go beyond this,” and that more sanctions are coming.

He was not specific on what that means, but Bolton did say that the administration would not “be content with going back to the level of sanctions that existed under Obama in 2015.” The 2015 sanctions were nearly a full blockade of Iran, and it’s not clear what additional sanctions are even possible.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It appears that the US government wants to attempt to get Iran's economy derailed as humanly possible; but if that doesn't work in time, look for a false flag, to be blamed on Iran, to be the justification of US military action against it.

Legal Battle Over Falsely Labelled Wines From Israel’s Illegal Settlements Heats Up

In January 2017, Dr. David Kattenburg of Winnipeg, Canada filed a complaint with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) about two wines produced in Israel’s illegal settlements. Those wines are sold in Canada bearing labels which falsely proclaim them to be “Product of Israel”. As such, they plainly violate Canadian law, including section 5 of the Food and Drugs Act and section 7 of the Consumer Packaging and Labelling Act.

Dr. Kattenburg, who is Jewish and the son of Holocaust survivors, reminded the CFIA that the Canadian government itself declares Israel’s settlements to be on occupied Palestinian territory and therefore a violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention. It is beyond reasonable dispute that those settlements form no part of Israel. As stated on the website of Global Affairs Canada:

When Netanyahu defends Bin Salman…

Benjamin Netanyahu has made no secret of his concern over the fate of Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman in the wake of the assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on 2 October. According to the Washington Post, the Israeli Prime Minister intervened with the US administration in order to relieve some of the pressure on the prince. Netanyahu also stated publically in Budapest that the US must maintain the stability of Saudi Arabia under the [de facto] leadership of Bin Salman.

Of course, Netanyahu’s defence of Bin Salman is not born out of love, but rather a desire to use him in order to promote Israel’s objectives in the region. The most important of these are to confront Iran, pass the “deal of the century”, normalisation with the Kingdom at a later stage and the elimination of political Islam.

What does the future hold for Gaza?

Ever since Hamas’s victory in the Palestinian legislative elections in 2006, the Gaza Strip has been subject to an Israeli-led blockade. The intensity of this blockade has varied from time to time, but reached its peak over the past few years with the economic sanctions imposed on the enclave by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, which have led to reduced liquidity in Gaza.

Given the increasing economic pressures on the residents of the besieged territory, they have been forced by circumstances to look at new ways to try to put pressure on Israel to ease or remove the blockade altogether. One such way has been the Great March of Return protests on the nominal border of the Gaza Strip controlled by the Israeli occupation authorities; the first march took place on 30 March.

Netanyahu advances death penalty bill for Palestinians

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has approved legislation which would make it easier for courts to hand death sentences to Palestinians who have killed Israelis or soldiers.

While Israel has a law permitting the death penalty, no executions have been carried out since the 1962.

Under the current law, the death penalty may only be imposed by unanimous decision from a panel of three judges. A bill proposed by Defence Minister Avigdor Liberman’s Yisrael Beytenu party, which Netanyahu backed yesterday, would remove this requirement, allowing both civilian and military courts to execute Palestinians with a majority decision.

Making America as ‘secure’ as Israel – Israelis train U.S. police

When you’re receiving advice “free” or otherwise, it’s wise to first evaluate the source. It’s probably not the best idea to hire a squinting optometrist, a limping podiatrist, or a toothless dentist. If you’re considering a heart surgeon and a search for his previous patients turns up too many graves, perhaps it’s time to reconsider. In fact, if he’s having heart pains, in all kindness perhaps you should call him a doctor.

In this vein, it seems time to examine a growing trend in this country. American officials still reeling from 9-11 and its escalating after-shocks are increasingly turning for help to Israeli “security experts.” Every few months there seems to be another report of local police officers somewhere in the country- Rhode Island, California, New Jersey -traveling to Israel for training in how to make America more secure.

Jewish groups call on UKIP to break up with ‘vile’ Alex Jones’ Infowars in anti-Semitism row

British Jewish groups have accused UKIP of indulging in anti-Semitic conspiracy theories through its links with Alex Jones’ right-wing website, Infowars, calling on the party to disassociate itself from the “vile” website.

The calls come in the wake of pipe bomb plots that targeted 14 high profile figures in the US including billionaire investor George Soros, and the Pittsburgh synagogue attack that saw 11 people killed and 7 injured – with Infowars being accused of “propagating conspiracy theories and dog whistle anti-Semitism” over the incidents, The Guardian reports.
