Israel's Moral and Political Insanity

excerpt:

One Israeli settler leader recently argued 'if it was right to commit genocide during Biblical time, why can’t it be right to commit genocide now. Has God changed his mind,' the settler wondered sarcastically."

Israeli peace activist and author Uri Avnery has an expression for this type of thinking. He calls it "moral insanity", a sociopathic disorder.

Joe the Plumber calls on Obama to help Israel

ASHKELON, Israel (AP) — Joe the Plumber called on President-elect Barack Obama on Monday to help Israel in its campaign against Hamas.

The plumber-turned-war correspondent has been unabashed in his support of Israel's two-week campaign against Hamas in the Gaza Strip and has been touring the Gaza border region and Israeli towns hit by Palestinian rocket fire.

"President Obama has already spoken about what he would do here. That if his daughters were living here he would take whatever means necessary to protect his daughters. So I just hope he carries through with it, but that is going to be up to him," said Joe, whose real name is Samuel J. Wurzelbacher.

Wurzelbacher was given a model rocket as a gift from Israeli plumber Moshe Nissimpur in the southern city of Ashkelon, near Gaza.

Israels Operation Cast Lead & Mass Executions

Kawther Salam: “Israel sowed horror, terror and death and will harvest a generation of Palestinian resistance”.

The Israeli military Operation “Cast Lead” is based on ethnic cleansing of the ittihad_news-4families of Palestinian politicians and resistance in Gaza. According to the cabinet of the criminal Ehud Olmert, Ehud Barak, and the chief of the Israeli intelligence, Yuval Diskin, the military Operation “Cast Lead” must put an end to some political activists, Palestinian resistance and their families as the only solution to “decrease the terror” of revenge against Israel. According to these Israeli war criminals, the murder of the families of Palestinian political activists and resistance fighters is very important for the security of Israel. By murdering their families, Israel will guarantee that no revenge would be possible in the future.

Obama to Ignore CIA War Crimes

If President-elect Barack Obama is reassuring the intelligence community “that his complaints are with the Bush administration, not them,” as AP’s Pamela Hess reported January 10th, his campaign slogan “change we can believe in” is headed for an early grave.

Obama’s remarks are a literal signal to CIA officials and other unindicted war criminals that they will not be prosecuted no matter what vile and horrific tortures they inflicted. And that’s not change; that’s business as usual; that’s what the CIA has done for years and gotten away with every time. Obama’s words will embolden CIA goons to gin up the same Adolf Eichmann defense, “I was only following orders” he used when he murdered Hungary’s Jews.

(Video):The best Congress money can buy

From Brasschecktv.com:

Israel uber alles
It's hard to get Congress to agree on anything, especially in matters relating to the future and physical and economic health of the US.

However, one thing both sides of the aisle can agree on - consistently and overwhelmingly - is that anything the Israeli war party wants to do is fine by them.

But we already knew that because the US pays all Israel's weapons bills - with your money of course if you're an American tax payer.

Wouldn't you like to trace the obvious press releases read by these Congressional slime balls to their original source?

I know I would.

War News for Monday, January 12, 2009

Baghdad:
#1: The violence began when two vehicles parked about 50 yards (meters) apart exploded in quick succession just after 7 a.m. as a police patrol passed by a bakery in a mainly Shiite area. The road, which runs through a commercial district, is frequently used by police and army convoys in the eastern New Baghdad neighborhood, residents said. Police and hospital officials said four people, including a policeman who died at the hospital, were killed and nine others wounded. The U.S. military said the Iraqi police were hit when explosives planted on a truck detonated as they were responded to the initial car bomb. The U.S. military gave a lower casualty toll, saying one Iraqi policeman was killed and two civilians were wounded.

Bush defends presidency in final news conference

In a nostalgic farewell news conference, Bush recalled the start of his own presidency, called Obama "a smart, engaging person" and said he wishes his successor all the best.

As for his own presidency, Bush defended his decisions on the Iraq war, the issue that will define his presidency like no other. There have been over 4,000 U.S. deaths since the invasion and toppling of Saddam Hussein in 2003.

Bush referred to the enormous weight Obama is about to experience, describing what it might feel like on Jan. 20 when, after taking the oath of office, he enters the Oval Office for That will be the major threat," Bush said, putting the risk of another attack over the dire economic problems now facing the nathe first time as president. "There'll be a moment when the responsibility of the president lands squarely on his shoulders," Bush said.

The Target is Iran: Israel's Latest Gamble May Backfire

The aerial war against Gaza launched by Israel just after Christmas, and the ground offensive, with which it rang in the New Year, were shocking in their brutality, but should constitute no surprise, if viewed from the standpoint of long-term Israeli strategic aims. The Israelis have argued that the offensive was launched in response to eight years' of relentless attacks by Hamas rockets into Israel. But then, one asks: why now? Why should they wait eight years?

America’s Shame

Why does Israel have a right to exist, but Palestine doesn’t?

This is the question of our time.

For sixty years Israelis have been stealing Palestine from Palestinians. There are maps available on the Internet and in Israeli publications showing the shrinkage over time of what was once Palestine into what Palestine is today--a small number of unconnected ghettos or bantustans.

Palestine became “the occupied territory” from which Palestinians were ejected and Israeli settlements built for “settlers.” Jordan, Syria and Lebanon are full of refugee camps in which Palestinians driven off their lands by Israeli force have been living for decades.

Driving people off their land is strictly illegal under international law, but Israel has been getting away with it for decades.

Gaza is a concentration camp of 1.5 million Palestinians who were driven from their homes and villages and collected in the Gaza Ghetto.

Presidential envoy among 7 dead in Siberia helicopter crash

MOSCOW, January 11 (RIA Novosti) - Seven people including the Russian president's envoy to the State Duma, Alexander Kosopkin, died in a helicopter crash in Altai, south Siberia, an Emergency Situations Ministry spokesman said Sunday.

Pavel Popov, deputy head of the ministry's local department, said that four people survived the crash, including a second pilot and Anatoly Bannykh, the republic's deputy prime minister and also the republic's plenipotentiary representative in Moscow.

"Four people survived the crash," he said, adding that two of the injured were in a critical state and two others were in satisfactory condition.

Kosopkin, President Dmitry Medvedev's representative in Russia's lower house of parliament, was among eight passengers and three crew on a Mi-8 helicopter owned by energy giant Gazprom that went missing two days ago. The party was traveling from the town of Chemal to Kosh-Agach, near the Mongolian border, to go on a hunting trip.

Send thanks to Jon Stewart for disecting and ridiculing the Zionist's anti-Palestinian propaganda

On The Daily Show's January 5 "Strip Maul" segment, Jon Stewart did what few American television personalities have dared to do: he criticized Israel's campaign against Gaza, making it clear that bombing will not bring peace for Israelis or Palestinians. He mocked the one-sided response of U.S. politicians by calling the Israeli-Palestinian conflict the "Mobius strip of issues because there's only one side!" He's sure to get thousands of complaints, so send Jon a letter of appreciation and then ask all your friends to watch this segment.

Please consider sending an email message of thanks to Jon for having the courage to bring to his audience's attention the fact that from the corporate media whores and most political commentators they have been fed a steady stream of one sided, pro-Israel spin and propaganda which does nothing to present a realistic view to the public of what is happening in Gaza today. Hamas was created with massive aid from the Israeli government.

Ukraine-Russia gas spat: some background and context
As we enter yet another episode of worried or sanctimonious articles about the gas conflict between Russia and Ukraine, it's worth remembering a few simple facts:

2) Russia cannot win a gas war against Ukraine and knows it;

3) the real underlying stakes are not about Russia or Ukraine.

Glenn Greenwald: Both parties cheerlead still more loudly for Israel's war

The Israelis have deliberately made it impossible to know the full extent of the carnage and humanitarian disasters because they continue to prevent journalists from entering Gaza even in the face of a now week-old Israeli Supreme Court order compelling them to do so. According to Palestinian sources, there are now 700 dead Palestinians -- at least 200 of them children -- and well over 1,000 wounded. Those numbers are not seriously doubted by anyone. By comparison, a total of 10 Israelis have died -- 10 -- almost all of them by "friendly fire." The unusually worded Red Cross condemnation of Israel was prompted by its discovery, after finally being allowed into Gaza, of starving Palestinian children laying next to corpses, with ambulances blocked for days by the IDF. Even with the relative "restraint" Israel is excercising (the damage it could cause is obviously much greater), this is not so much of a war as it is a completely one-sided massacre.

Is Israel winning the 'media war' over Gaza?

"We are all Hamas,” screamed a scrawny Mauritanian, repeatedly, as he determinedly drew his face closer to a TV camera. Behind him, thousands more tunefully chanted similar words, chants that were heard in different Arabic dialects, in fact in many different languages all across the globe. Yet, Israel, somehow is claiming victory in the media war, which it calculatedly unleashed weeks before its most violent attack on Gaza yet. Thousands have been reportedly killed and wounded in little more than a week, starting Dec. 27, in the tiny stretch of land (roughly 140 square miles), yet densely populated Gaza Strip of 1.5 million people.

Why Do So Few Speak Up for Gaza?

The basic argument is that Palestinian terrorists represented by Hamas are given to an irrational hatred of Jews so profound that it invalidates their movement, even when they win elections. That was not the view of the Israeli security service when it earlier supported Hamas as the alternative to the then dreaded PLO. Also, history is replete with examples of terrorists becoming statesmen, even within the early ranks of Jews fighting to establish the state of Israel.

OAKLAND (CBS 5) --
You've heard of a mob mentality. Well, I've just seen it in action.
Wednesday night's riot in Oakland developed quickly like a spark into a wildfire, and I was right in the middle of it.
It started with a peaceful demonstration at the Fruitvale BART station. Hundreds of demonstrators carried signs, shouted into megaphones and voiced their opinions.
Suddenly, a large segment of the crowd started walking off.

"Suddenly, a protester pointed at a police car. Someone started cursing at the officers who were standing behind it. The crowd surged. They rolled up a dumpster and set it on fire. It escalated. Someone else threw rocks; breaking the windshield. Traffic piled up and officers started shouting to the drivers, "Roll up your windows!"

The move is actually a perfect illustration of the tried and true Wall Street strategy of "buy the rumor and sell the fact".

Israel Is Committing War Crimes WSJ

Israel's current assault on the Gaza Strip cannot be justified by self-defense. Rather, it involves serious violations of international law, including war crimes. Senior Israeli political and military leaders may bear personal liability for their offenses, and they could be prosecuted by an international tribunal, or by nations practicing universal jurisdiction over grave international crimes. Hamas fighters have also violated the laws of warfare, but their misdeeds do not justify Israel's acts.

Did We Just Have Our i-911... And Is An i-Patriot Act On It's Way?

Former Counter Terrorism Czar Richard Clarke told a leading expert on internet free speech, Stanford law professor Lawrence Lessig, that there was going to be an "i-9/11", in other words, an electronic terrorist act, and an "i-Patriot Act" to crack down on freedoms on the Internet under the guise of protecting against such threats:

There’s going to be an i-9/11 event. Which doesn’t necessarily mean an Al Qaeda attack, it means an event where the instability or the insecurity of the internet becomes manifest during a malicious event which then inspires the government into a response. You’ve got to remember that after 9/11 the government drew up the Patriot Act within 20 days and it was passed.

Israel once again strikes a blow against peace

The United States has provided a $3 billion annual subsidy to Israel since its creation 60 years ago. Moreover, the consistent U.S. government position has been that Israel can do no wrong.

With such carte blanche, the Israeli government has been able to brazenly attack Lebanon in 2006 and kill more than 1,000 Lebanese people, most of them innocent civilians. It also destroyed much of the economic infrastructure of all of Lebanon under the guise of attacking Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

The same strategy is being followed against the Palestinians in Gaza. It is immoral and illegal, according to international law, for anyone to kill innocent civilians and to impose collective retribution.

THE GAZANS Most of the people living in Gaza are not there by choice. The majority of the 1.5 million people crammed into the roughly 140 square miles of the Gaza Strip belong to families that came from towns and villages outside Gaza like Ashkelon and Beersheba. The West Bank: We're all Hamas now - supporters of Fatah unite behind enemy

Even if Israel wins on the battlefield or in the diplomatic corridors it is already paying the price of its Gaza onslaught in intensified hatred in the hearts of its Palestinian neighbours in the West Bank. The campaign also appears to be increasing public scepticism about the Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas's chosen path of negotiations as the way to establish an independent state alongside Israel.

The diplomacy championed by Mr Abbas has for years been difficult to sell to Palestinians because it has brought little or no relief from occupation or improvement in their daily lives, only the expansion of Israeli settlements. This existing frustration –which helped Hamas defeat Mr Abbas's Fatah movement in the 2006 elections – is now combined with popular anger and dismay at the carnage among fellow Palestinians in Gaza.

Scientists, however, had a variety of theories to attempt to explain how a single compound could have such similar effects on three unrelated neurodegenerative disorders.

IS this the NY Times???

It must be the highest degree of war crimes for an army to
force families to take shelter in a building, and then bomb and kill them in the building.

"No rescuers came. Instead, Israeli soldiers entered their building late Sunday night and told them to evacuate to another building. They did. But at 6 a.m. on Monday, when a missile fired by an Israeli warplane struck the relatives’ house in which they had taken shelter, there was nowhere to run."

When the Truth is Anti-Semitic

Those good Jews who are on this planet had better wake up to the evil being done in their name and cry out against it. When the backlash comes they may not be distinguishable from their vicious kindred in the darkness. To be called anti-Semitic in these times amounts to a badge of honor for so few of us dare to speak the truth and question the lies. We are all one body. We should act accordingly.

British tax payers struck by phishing scam

British newspapers are warning their readers of a phishing scam that has been spread via spam email, telling recipients that they have been awarded a tax refund from the HMRC (Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs).

The phishing attacks have been seen arriving from faked addresses such as refundtax@hmrc.gov.co.uk or taxrefund@hmrc.gov.uk, and the fact that it is being seen so much now is no surprise. January 31st is the deadline for self-assessment forms to be filed with the HMRC, and some taxpayers will be hoping for a rebate.

Of course, for many people it’s a dream come to true to think that they might actually be getting some money back from the tax man rather than having to give money to the Inland Revenue, so it’s not surprising if people might eagerly click on the link without thinking of the possible consequences.

Kiwis rally opposition to NZ copyright bill

Borrowing the "Not in My Name" slogan popularized by anti-war and pro-Palestinian activists, New Zealand's newborn Creative Freedom Foundation is leading a petition drive to block implementation of copyright legislation slated to take effect at the end of February. Critics charge that Section 92 of the Copyright (New Technologies) Amendment Act, enacted this past April, requires ISPs to act on a principle of "guilt upon accusation," cutting off the Internet connections of users merely alleged to be violating copyright.

Taxing ISPs to Prop Up Failing Newspapers?

We recently noted how the RIAA has created an entirely new organization tasked with pushing the idea of collective music licensing, applying a $5-$10 "piracy tax" to consumer broadband bills, regardless of whether you pirate or not. The idea has several critical problems, not least of which being that it rewards the music industry for their failure to adapt, but it also opens the door to every single industry impacted by piracy (music, film, porn, gaming, literature) to begin demanding their own tax.

Mike Masnick at Techdirt notes that it didn't take long for other collapsing business models to start putting their hand out. Canadian website Macleans recently published an article suggesting that because it's getting harder to make money in the news business, failing newspapers should be compensated for their losses by applying an ISP tax. Of course the ISPs won't pay it, you will.

Why police hackers are a threat to your privacy

Imagine if the Home Office decided that the best way to fight terrorism was to ban curtains.

"Hang on!" we'd say. "That means Creepy Dave across the road will be able to see me in my underpants!"

The Home Office would nod sagely. "That's true, but you know who else has curtains? Terrorists! Terrorists and gangsters! So it's curtains for curtains!"

The Home Office hasn't banned curtains just yet, but it's getting closer. Over the weekend we discovered that incoming legislation means that the police will be able to install spyware on anybody's PC without asking the courts for permission. Inevitably it's to fight terrorism, organised crime and Gary Glitter.

Gaza victims' burns increase concern over phosphorus

Photographic evidence has emerged that proves that Israel has been using controversial white phosphorus shells during its offensive in Gaza, despite official denials by the Israel Defence Forces.

There is also evidence that the rounds have injured Palestinian civilians, causing severe burns. The use of white phosphorus against civilians is prohibited under international law.

The Times has identified stockpiles of white phosphorus (WP) shells from high-resolution images taken of Israel Defence Forces (IDF) artillery units on the Israeli-Gaza border this week. The pale blue 155mm rounds are clearly marked with the designation M825A1, an American-made WP munition.

US military re-supplying Israel with ammunition through Greece

As the Israeli occupation terrorist forces continue to pound the crowded, impoverished and imprisoned population of the Gaza Strip with the full force of its military might, Israel's strongest ally, the United States, announced plans to ship large amounts of ammunition to the Israeli forces – as it did during Israel's 2006 invasion of Lebanon, when the Israelis ran out of (internationally-banned) cluster bombs, and the US shipped them tens of thousands more.

The Trial Of Israel

"It is way past time," mused an old man in the corner.

"Time for what!" barked his recently terminated program manager.

"Time to drag that little outlaw-country into the world-court and force it to answer for what they've been doing for the last six decades" the old-one responded; with just the hint of a smile near the corner of his ancient mouth.

Israel reminds most people of a totally out-of-control teenager who thinks of himself as both a rebel and an outlaw-when in fact he's just a common criminal that has become a legend in his own mind. Today he is in the criminal-courts division of global-public opinion; at a hearing to determine whether or not he, Israel, should be allowed to continue to exist.

Israeli Butchers Order 100 Family Members Into House Then Shell It, Killing 70

For those who still believe the Israeli lie that they are not targeting civilians, and that if they do target civilians, then those civilians (including infants) must be "terrorists," this is a recount of the butchery displayed by the US-funded Israeli military earlier this week.

According to surviving members of the al-Samouni family, on Sunday of this past week, Israeli soldiers ordered approximately 100 members of the extended al-Samouni family to gather into one single house in the town of Zeitoun near Gaza City. Just after dawn the following morning, knowing that the house was filled with civilians including mothers with infants and children, the Israeli military repeatedly shelled the house, killing approximately 70 members of the family.

Government To The People Drop Dead! Riots In Oakland

On New Years morning a 22-year old man, the father of a four year old daughter, was shot and killed by Bart police in the Fruitvale BART station.

He had two jobs and had turned his life around. He also had many friends.

For any crime of this nature, committed by a civilian, a "police report" would be mandatory within hours of the event; especially when there were three videos of what happened. The officer's gun is in police custody, the officer is a FEDERAL police officer, as BART is a federal agency: So procedures should have been clearly followed immediately. Yet, it is now a week later and the officer has still not even been interviewed, according to the 'chief' of BART police. Yesterday he quit the force, so that he would not have to give his version of events: and this sparked the riots!

Masters In Distortion Of The Truth

The media coverage of the war in Gaza by Western television companies is largely unfair and biased because of a refusal to show viewers the real images of the victims.

One of the reasons for this is Israel’s decision not to allow the Western media in to Gaza.

In addition to this outrageous censorship by a so-called democracy, we get the usual arguments that most of the images shown by the Arab media are too shocking to show the viewing public in the West.

Admittedly, the horrific clip sent to me of a child’s head lying detached, among debris in Gaza did make me gasp.

But this is war and this is real and if the Western media did show these sort of images maybe the general public would wake up to the full horrors of what happens when bombs are dropped on civilian populations.

The Dangers of Disputing Warming Orthodoxy

The global-warming advocates support drastic measures that would seriously affect production. Some of them go further and call for curbs on human population. In this connection, it is more than a little disturbing that John Holdren, chosen by Barack Obama as his science advisor since the publication of Horner's book, is a close associate of Paul Ehrlich.
