Gaza: Time to end, not 'ease' the siege

The Israeli argument that the siege is necessary to undermine the Hamas movement, which has been in control of the Strip for three years this week, has been proven invalid.

Israel knows that it can secure an end to rocket attacks from Gaza through a mediated truce, such as the one brokered by Egypt in 2008. When Israel broke that truce - leading to a response from Hamas - it was as though it wanted an excuse to unleash its superior military arsenal on the Strip.

Israel's very insistence that it has the right to control the Gaza Strip and to use military power against Palestinians must not be accepted or even accommodated by the international community.

Daniel Rubin: Another flier's run-in with the TSA

Her knees have been replaced with titanium, and a metal plate supports her back. She's used to setting off alarms.

But she's not used to the sort of screening she experienced April 5 when a Transportation Security Administration worker motioned Phillips to the side for a secondary screening. Phillips says the screener's metal-detecting wand went north of the retirees knees and brushed against her crotch.

Phillips jumped, aghast.

And when she asked for a different female screener, she says, a standoff led to her being detained for nearly two hours - until a Philadelphia police sergeant sent her on her way.

Red Cross: Gaza blockade illegal

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has described Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip as a violation of the Geneva Conventions and called on the Israeli government to lift it.

In a statement released on Monday, the organisation called the blockade "collective punishment", a crime under international law. It described Gaza as a territory plagued by frequent power cuts, a ruined economy, and a collapsed health care system.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Great that the Red Cross appears to have managed a magnificent grasp of the obvious.

The question is, what is the Red Cross actually going to do to break the siege?!?

Int’l law expert Aral: Israel not as untouchable as before

“Israel now has committed new crimes and is not as untouchable as before. Almost all countries in the word have been critical of its latest attack in one way or another,” he told Today’s Zaman for Monday Talk regarding Israel’s attack on May 31 which killed nine people and wounded several dozen on an aid ship carrying activists from more than 30 countries.

Israel claims that it acted in self-defense while attacking the ship, which was in international waters and carrying humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.

The Turkish government said that it will implement several measures against Israel and will seek options to have the Israeli officials responsible for the tragedy tried in court.

Narcotics: The Best-Known Afghan Business

The US-led invasion of Afghanistan has bred unprecedentedly favorable conditions for the country's drug business which is presently flourishing in the NATO-controlled oasis. While the Taliban banned opium cultivation, the Western coalition brought unchecked freedom to Afghanistan, the result being that opium production in the country has grown more than 40 times over since 2001.

PROPAGANDA ALERT - Iran 'definitely' building nuclear weapon

Webmaster's Commentary:

Here is a good lesson in media propaganda. First, the story headline...

"Iran 'definitely' building nuclear weapon "

Note the use of the word 'definitely'.

Now, the opening paragraph of the body of the story.

Due to concern over potentially harmful international political implications, U.S. officials will only say they "believe" Iran is engaged in a clandestine program that may yield a nuclear weapon.

Most readers will glance at the headline only and come away convinced that Iran is 'definitely' building a nuclear weapon even though the story is pure conjecture from the usual anonymous sources from the "US Ally", meaning Israel.

American troops going home from Iraq after seven painful years are leaving behind a legacy that is literally toxic.

Hawaii elections clerk hits YouTube - HOAX ALERT

Webmaster's Commentary:

I was being flooded with this nonsense over the last couple weeks. The logic behind my position remains unchanged. If there were anything to this birth certificate nonsense, both Hilary Clinton and John McCain would have used it to secure their victories.

That being said, the fact that this latest story emerged just as Orly Taitz was campaigning in California was grounds for suspicion, since Orly's sole claim to fame was the birther movement.

So now OpEdNews comes out with a story exposing the fact that the so-called expert from Hawaii is linked to known white supremacist groups and has a past history of dubious accuracy and credibility. So everyone who ran this story as unquestioned news fell into a trap, including WND. There "well is poisoned" and any further criticisms of Obama, however legitimate, can be dismissed as racist smear attacks.

Russia deploys hundreds of extra soldiers to Kyrgyz military base

Russia has deployed hundreds more soldiers to protect its military base in Kyrgyzstan, in the wake of fresh unrest that had left almost 100 people dead in the Central Asian country as of Sunday.

Three Ilyushin Il-96 military planes with a battalion of Russian paratroopers on board have landed at the base in Kant, the Interfax news agency reported. A Russian battalion typically ranges from 350 to 800 soldiers, depending on the situation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is an interesting development, in light of the fact that Russia had previously declared it was sending no troops to Kyrgyzstan to quell the rioting.

As reported last Saturday, 12 June, at

"Otunbayeva asked Russia early Saturday to send in troops, but the Kremlin said it would not meddle into what it described as Kyrgyzstan's internal conflict.

"It's a domestic conflict, and Russia now doesn't see conditions for taking part in its settlement," Kremlin spokeswoman Natalya Timakova said in Moscow. She added that Russia will discuss with other members of a security pact of ex-Soviet nations about the possibility of sending a joint peacekeeping force to Kyrgyzstan.

Timakova said Russia would send a plane to Kyrgyzstan to deliver humanitarian supplies and help evacuate victims of the violence."

One has to wonder why Russia would believe that its base in Kyrgyzstan would come under any kind of attack.

Obama Issues Executive Order Mandating “Lifestyle Behavior Modification”

You will "change" to my liking! Claiming the "authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America," President Obama has truly gone off the deep end this time in his most atrocious attempt to date to control every aspect of Americans? lives.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Okay, so let's sum up here.

1. BP blows up a well and because the US Government has been asleep at the switch on safety and regulation, this results in the worst environmental disaster possibly in all history.

2. Israel attacks an aid fleet in international waters, hijacking one US-flagged ship, kidnapping 12 Americans and gunning down a boy from New York.

3. Obama's response to both of the above is to declare that the American taxpayers must further reduce our standard of living so that we may pay added taxes.

Netanyahu: Gaza flotilla probe will show the world Israel acted lawfully

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at the start of Monday's cabinet meeting that the main goal of the Gaza flotilla probe is to prove to the world that the Israel Navy operation on the Gaza-bound aid ship was appropriate and met international standards.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One never ceases to be amazed at Netanyahu's Orwellian grasp of geopolitical language.

Preventing nutrition from getting Gazan kids to the point where 14% of Gaza's kids are malnourished is Israel's "great humanitarian aid" to them.

Preventing infants from getting out of Gaza for desperately needed medical care is denied for "security reasons".

And the slaughter of unarmed civilians in international waters is "self defense".

Unflipping believable; and trust me, Mr. Prime Minister, the world is not going to believe it either, particularly with the videos and eye-witness accounts from the survivors which have surfaced.

The Crude Truth

Two weeks ago the president and his advisors realized that they were headed for the rocks. The Great Reconciler of 2008 was being reclassified in the popular mind as the Wimp of the Year in 2010. The White House had allowed BP’s CEO, Tony Hayward, to grab headlines day after day with absurdly lowball estimates of how much oil was gushing out into the Gulf.

Local organizer Imad was detained and roughed up. I was arriving a bit late and was prevented from entering the site. I tried to go down through the hills and was spotted by an Israeli soldier who pointed his gun at me and said he would shoot if I do not go to him and then proceeded to abuse me physically and psychologically. He only released me after the end of the demonstration (45 minutes later).

1.3 million flee as China flooding kills 155

Unusually heavy seasonal flooding in China has killed at least 155 people and forced more than 1 million to flee as water levels in some areas reached at their highest in more than a decade, the government reported Saturday.

Flooding strikes along the Yangtze almost every summer, although authorities had claimed that construction of the massive Three Gorges Dam along the river's upper reaches would help modulate water levels and prevent major losses.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As reported on 7 June, 2010 in

"n China, cracks are appearing – in the neighbourhood of the massive Three Gorges Dam, the country’s great prestige project, and also in the Great Internet Firewall of China, enabling the ominous news to leak out. Three years ago stories were already emerging in the Chinese media about landslides, ecological deterioration and accumulation of algae further down the river. And less and less effort seems to be made to plug the leaks."

This combination of flooding, coupled with problems with the dam, could lead to an ecological disaster for the people living in this region, and beyond.

100,000 Uzbek Refugees Flee Deadly Chaos, Bound For Border

The United States, Russia and the United Nations worked on humanitarian aid airlifts while neighboring Uzbekistan hastily set up camps to handle the flood of hungry, frightened refugees. Most were women, children and the elderly, many of whom Uzbekistan said had gunshot wounds.

The interim government had planned a referendum to approve a new constitution on June 27, but it now appears unlikely the vote will take place. New parliamentary elections are scheduled for October, but the violence appears aimed at undermining the interim government before then.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has vowed to breach Israel’s blockade of Gaza, as two aid ships and a military escort prepare to set sail.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Contrary to the initial reaction of "Is he out of his mind" felt by most on hearing this news, I think Ahmadinejad, ever the chess player, has made a brilliant move.

Ahmadinejad knows war is coming no matter what he does. Just as Israel created the war in Iraq for Americans to die in, Israel is creating a new war in Iran for Americans to die in. Congress is owned by Israel, and as was the case with Iran, the media will repeat whatever lies are created to justify the invasion.

So, Ahmadinejad cannot change the reality of the coming invasion, but he can change the world's perception of what the war is about! If he just sits and waits and allow Israel to send the US to attack him on Israel's timetable and under Israel's justification, then Iran has already lost the war. But if Iran runs the Gaza blockade, and THAT is the opening salvo, then myths and legends about non-existent nuclear weapons vanish from the debate, and the war is about trying to save the Gazans from collective punishment, a war crime, by Israel. Iran will be seen as having the moral high ground, and the initiative!

Afghanistan's 'Vast Riches Of Minerals' Highlighted By Pentagon

"The United States has discovered nearly $1 trillion in untapped mineral deposits in Afghanistan, far beyond any previously known reserves and enough to fundamentally alter the Afghan economy and perhaps the Afghan war itself, according to senior American government officials," the New York Times' James Risen reported on Monday.

Opponents of the war have questioned whether Monday's Times story is the Pentagon's latest attempt to persuade an increasingly frustrated American public that Afghanistan is worth the costs in blood and treasure.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I want to see the actual hard science here.

But if this is true (and that's one big if), these discoveries mean that the US and NATO will never leave Afghanistan, no matter how many soldiers are maimed for life or killed, again, in the pursuit of private profit.

BP presents oil containment plan: official

Energy giant BP has presented a new plan to contain more than 50,000 barrels a day of oil gushing from a ruptured Gulf of Mexico well by the end of June, an administration official said Monday.

he revised strategy would increase the capture of oil to a range of 40,000 to 53,000 barrels a day by the end of June, which would grow to 60,000 to 80,000 barrels a day by mid-July, according to the administration official.

However BP cautioned in its letter to Coast Guard Rear Admiral James Watson, "The quoted numbers represent installed design capacities and any unplanned events will impact actual delivery."

Webmaster's Commentary:

If BP had a working containment plan, it would have been working by now.

BP has had neither the engineering or scientific acumen to make this happen.

13 foreign nations who have companies with the expertise on this kind of disaster have offered to assist, but have been rebuffed, until now:

"The State Department sent letters to some U.S. allies two weeks after the accident, and the Coast Guard initially sought to assess what supplies might be available overseas, but the administration's public posture on aid has been inconsistent. On May 5, Crowley announced that 13 international offers had been received and that decisions on what to accept would be made "in the next day or two." Two weeks later, the State Department said the government saw no reason to accept any of the offers. "

This is a man-made catastrophe, but it has been made far worse by Obama's administration not accepting desperately needed help in time.

Crony Healthcare in Action

It's all about politicians who have no idea of the impossibility of replacing the huge number of calculations made by individuals in a free market, by a central planning authority. It's about politicians who don't understand the incentive system. It's about politicians who fail to understand that the creation of power centers (new regulations and agencies) ultimately leads to those who will attempt to influence and capture the thinking in such power centers. It's about cronyism. In healthcare, it will mean crony healthcare--which will mean less care, care directed toward the treatments offered by those who have captured the regulators. It will mean higher prices for less, and ultimately more pain more suffering and earlier deaths for most of us.

Obama To Use BP Oil Spill As An Opportunity To Push His Economy Killing Climate Change Bill

You see, to those obsessed with "climate change", just getting corporations around the globe to radically cut carbon emissions is not nearly going to be good enough. To them, in the "war against climate change" anyone who breathes is the enemy. In fact, according to an official UN report, no human can ever truly be "carbon neutral".

So please understand that for those obsessed with climate change, "carbon taxes" and "cap and trade" are just the beginning. To truly achieve their goals, "one child policies" and "forced abortions" will also be necessary.

Israeli Deputy FM: 75 al-Qaeda Mercenaries on Aid Ship

Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon appeared on CNN’s “GPS” show today, and once again changed the official story related to the Israeli attack on the Mavi Marmara aid ship two weeks ago.

Ayalon now claims that 75 al-Qaeda linked mercenaries were on board the ship, heavily armed, and that they ambushed the Israeli troops before their eventual capture.

Gaza economy collapsing under siege'

Most of Gaza’s factories have closed and its water is polluted as a result of Israel’s policy of closing land crossings to all but humanitarian aid, according to a new report being released Monday by the human rights group B’tselem.

The closure policy has “led to economic collapse in Gaza.”

Israel video of soldiers attacked on Gaza flotilla an obvious forgery: see video proof for yourself

*hyperlinks and videos live at source*

The Israeli government’s video showing their soldiers being attacked as they descended from helicopters is a forgery; proven irrefutably from the ship’s structural features in the video being visibly different from the actual vessel, the Mavi Marmara. The proof is explained in the below 3-minute video; with this story developing. Additional ship details that prove the Israeli government video forgery are in the second 6-minute video.

As I’ve written, this adds to Israel’s government lies in support of unlawful war; now by creating the world’s largest concentration camp in Gaza, and perhaps soon through war against Iran based all on "emperor has no clothes" obvious lies.

I could still see the laser pointers of the Israeli snipers

Doctor, I can feel his brain on my hand...'
Sat, Jun 12, 2010
The Brunei Times/Asia News Network
I saw Bulent take off his white shirt and had somebody wave this white flag of ours outside. The shootings did not abate.
Dr Arief and I ran downstairs and I saw a man with a gaping wound in his abdomen. I tried to do as much as I could before the Israelis took over the ship and we were all herded into the halls of the passengers.
I could still see the laser pointers of the Israeli snipers; when one friend tried to get up from his seat and walked toward me, I snapped at him. "Sit down. You have the laser light between your eyes!"

Nader Says Reinstate Helen Thomas on THE REAL NEWS

In an interview with Paul Jay of The Real News

Former Presidential candidate Ralph Nader launched a scathing critique of US media and politicians for what he said was “Professional Execution,” over the sudden retirement of senior White House correspondent Helen Thomas after she made remarks critical of Israel that were considered offensive to Jews.

Nader said American pundits had gotten away with much worse comments about Muslims and Arabs. “antisemitism against arabs is rife in politics today,” he said.

“How about Ann Coulter? she didn’t lose a 30,000 dollar speech? She didn’t lose her column, and she said horrific things about going over there and slaughtering Muslims, if they can’t be converted to christianity, she added.”

We saw a hit-list, 'It was a mission to kill'

'It was a mission to kill'
By Farrah Naz Karim and V. Shuman
SEPANG: "We saw a hit-list with pictures and names of our comrades and they ended up dead. It was a mission to kill."
This startling revelation came from Noorazman Mohd Samsuddin, who was the chief of the Malaysian delegation on board the Turkish aid ship MV Mavi Marmara, which was attacked by Israeli commandos.
"We have the list with us... this also explains why some of us were shot with live bullets and some merely injured with rubber ones.
"Members of the Malaysian team were all spared the live bullets although some had red lasers beamed on their heads and were ready to be shot dead.
"They were only spared as no Malaysians were on the hit-list."

Sea Battle?-Iran sends food, Medical Aid ships to Gaza

This will be interesting. First they are saying 100,000 have volunteered? Thats a hell of a lot of people for just an aid ship.

I think Iran though while trying to be neighborly and bring aid to gaza, is in reality testing Israel to see if they will Attack them. If they do, and they probably will, It will Spur WW3.

Here we go folks this should be interesting to watch.

Canadian to be part of proposed inquiry into Gaza flotilla incident

The Canadian Press

OTTAWA—Israel has asked Canada’s former top military lawyer to help investigate its attack on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla.

A statement from the Israel government says one of two foreign observers for a proposed inquiry would be retired Brig. Gen. Ken Watkin, Canada’s former judge advocate general.

Watkin served as a Canadian Forces legal officer for more than 25 years and has been involved in various inquiries arising from the 1994 genocide in Rwanda.

Foreign affairs minister Lawrence Cannon welcomed Israel’s decision to set up the independent commission, saying Watkin’s career makes him well-suited to participate.

The proposal for the commission goes before Israel’s cabinet for approval on Monday.

Obama wants BP escrow account

President Barack Obama will press BP executives this week to set up an escrow account to pay damage claims by individuals and businesses hurt by the Gulf of Mexico oil spill disaster.

The move comes as Obama, who will address the nation about the spill on Tuesday night, faces questions on his handling of the disaster, which was in its 55th day. Millions of gallons of oil have poured into the Gulf since an April 20 offshore rig blast killed 11 workers and blew out the well.

If he gets anything at all, I wonder if it will be anywhere near what politicians have, for decades, taken under the table from the British Pigs?

Israel's medieval siege of Gaza

The three year old siege on the Gaza Strip and its 1.5 million inhabitants is a testament to the Israeli regime's disregard of law, decency and morality. This siege amounts to collective punishment, an action outlawed by various conventions and humanitarian laws. This is not to mention the suffering and humanitarian crisis caused by this law. This siege has been disgracefully condoned by the "international community" and justified by the "free world" as a measure that safegurads the security of the Israeli regime.

Turkish doctors work to save the life of Gazan infant

When I first saw the announcement on Turkish news last night of the arrival to Istanbul of a “Mavi Bebek”—blue baby—from Gaza, I naturally assumed it had something to do with the dominant news story of the past 2 weeks, the May 31 Israeli attack on the Mavi Marmara aid vessel endeavoring to break the siege of the Gaza Strip. Two scenarios came to mind regarding the potential significance of Mavi Bebek:

1. The Gazans had enacted a symbolic reverse breakage of the siege by sending something small and blue to Turkey.

Florida Panhandle Fights 2 Huge Oil Plumes

While British Petroleum (BP) engineers step up their efforts to plug a gushing oil well in the Gulf of Mexico, skimmers at western Florida Panhandle are bracing up to collect two oil plumes from the Deepwater Horizon spill before it strikes the shore. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection said that one of the patchy oil plumes was as close as 3 miles of Pensacola Pass, which is situated just next to a stretch of the Gulf Islands National Seashore and the tourist hotels of Pensacola Beach.

According to the DEP, another slick was heading towards the panhandle and was almost 9 miles away.

Israel, US hold joint strike drill

Israel and the United States simulated war this week in a massive aerial drill that included dozens of F-16 fighter jets from both countries.

The exercise, known as Juniper Stallion, came as Turkey was holding its own aerial maneuvers with the US, which Israel was not a part of. The IAF holds about 10 joint exercises with the US Air Force annually, half of them in Israel.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder who the intended target/victim country was of these exercises? (I'll give you three guesses, and the first two don't count!)

Battling the boycotts

The casual observer cannot avoid the impression that Israel has become the world’s whipping boy. Not a day goes by without more news about economic/academic/artistic/athletic boycotts, diverse “divestment” schemes, investment pullbacks, event cancellations, theatrical snubs, supermarket blacklists.

It looks orchestrated, although it isn’t. Despite appearances, Israel is nowhere near the status of apartheid South Africa, which was hit with multi-government, UN-imposed sanctions. But even non-governmental boycotts can hurt and gain inexorable momentum. Already anti-Israel bans indisputably stimulate a potent negative dynamic.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to the JP editorial staff; playing "the victim" will not work this time.

These boycotts are not an attempt to delegitimize Israel; the are, however, a reaction to the collective hubristic paranoia demonstrated by Israel against the Palestinians, and its utter contempt for international law which profoundly negatively impacts every decision the current Israeli government makes.

When Israel is actually willing to honestly address these issues, the boycotts will simply disappear.

Israel's Barak calls off Paris visit amid threats

Israel's defense minister is canceling a planned visit to Paris amid threats by pro-Palestinian groups to have him arrested there.

Ehud Barak was to dedicate a new Israeli booth at the Eurosatory arms fair in Paris, which opens this week. But his office announced Sunday that he would stay home while Israel forms a committee to investigate its deadly raid on a Gaza-bound flotilla.

Pro-Palestinian activists had threatened to try to have charges brought against him for his role in the raid, which killed nine Turkish activists at sea.

Siege takes toll on Gaza children

Israeli officials insist that there is no humanitarian crisis in the enclave.

UN aid workers inside Gaza, however, see a different reality.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The deliberate creating of malnutrition in Palestinian children by denying them the food and nutrients to prevent it, is the reprehensibly immoral and inhumane official policy of the Israeli government.

Growing Protests As UN Attacks Haitian Refugee Camp

Last week, the United Nations peacekeeping mission fired tear gas and rubber bullets into a crowded refugee camp, leaving at least six hospitalized and others suffering respiratory problems. Citizen organizations plan demonstrations for today, the sixth anniversary of the U.N. armed presence in Haiti. The march is part of growing protests against the military forces which have amassed in Haiti since the January 12 earthquake and the lack of attention to displaced people’s needs.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So this is what US taxpayer taxes go for to the UN, where an alleged "...peacekeeping mission fired tear gas and rubber bullets into a crowded refugee camp, leaving at least six hospitalized and others suffering respiratory problems. "?!?!?

For the Haitian people, the UN is just another occupying colonial power, and the Haitian people want their country back.

Multiple bomb blasts rock Baghdad

At least 12 people have been killed and 40 others wounded after a series of bombs exploded in rapid succession across Baghdad, the Iraqi capital, the interior ministry has said.

Security officials said that five bombs rocked the capital, the first of which happened around 11:50GMT on Sunday, with seven more following in the next 40 minutes.

The bomb blasts came one day before the opening of the second parliament since the US-led invasion that ousted Saddam Hussein in 2003.

Webmaster's Commentary:
