Thought for the day
"The only difference between death and taxes is that death doesn’t get worse every time Congress meets." -- Will Rogers
The Department of Homeland Security said Monday that it ended a Trump-era policy requiring asylum-seekers to wait in Mexico for hearings in U.S. immigration court, hours after a judge lifted an order in effect since December that it be reinstated.
The timing had been in doubt since the Supreme Court ruled on June 30 that the Biden administration could end the “Remain in Mexico” policy. Homeland Security officials had been largely silent, saying they had to wait for the court to certify the ruling and for a Trump-appointed judge, Matthew Kacsmaryk in Amarillo, Texas, to then lift his injunction. The Supreme Court certified its ruling last week.
The program will be unwound in a “quick, and orderly manner,” Homeland Security said in a statement. No more people are being enrolled and those who appear in court will not be returned to Mexico when they appear in the U.S. for their next hearings.
The policy “has endemic flaws, imposes unjustifiable human costs, and pulls resources and personnel away from other priority efforts to secure our border,” the department said.
Monday, during an appearance on FNC’s “Jesse Watters Primetime” following news that the FBI had raided former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, FL for undisclosed reasons, George Washington University Law School professor and constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley questioned why Attorney General Merrick Garland would not have proceeded with a special counsel before green-lighting the raid.
According to Turley, the potential appearance of politicization would have warranted an impartial investigation, which could have been done with a special counsel.
“Well, it’s a breathtaking moment to have a raid like this on a former president and potentially the future opponent of the current president,” he said. “My first reaction beyond shock is that it is baffling how this raid would occur, but Merrick Garland decided not to appoint a special counsel. If there was evidence that supports a warrant, and apparently a federal judge found that evidence, why didn’t Merrick Garland ask for a special counsel to be appointed? You know, people like Archibald Cox and others are celebrated because we appointed a special counsel to look into Nixon. Why? It was because we wanted to assure the American people that an investigation would not be political, would not be influenced in that case by Nixon himself.”
Former President Donald Trump’s Florida home, Mar-A-Lago, was raided by FBI agents, Trump announced in a statement on Monday.
“These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar- A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents,” Trump said. “Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before.”
News of the FBI raiding former President Donald Trump’s private home of Mar-a-Lago ignited a firestorm of reactions from Republican politicians and conservative activists on Twitter, all of whom denounced the move as a blatant power grab by the Democrats to silence and intimidate a potential 2024 nominee.
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) noted that the raid occurred just as the corruption probe into President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, has deepened.
“So interesting that this happens right as we are exposing undeniable criminal corruption by Hunter Biden. Weird,” tweeted Gaetz.
In the wake of the FBI’s raid of former President Trump’s home, Ambassador Ken Blackwell told Breitbart News that President Biden is turning America “into a police state.”
Following the FBI’s raid of former President Trump’s house, Ambassador Blackwell told Breitbart News exclusively, “For the first time in American history, a president’s administration has sent armed federal agents to raid the personal home of his predecessor, who is also a leader of the opposition party.”
House GOP leaders have pledged to take action on the “weaponized politicization” of the Department of Justice (DOJ) “when Republicans take back the House” in the midterm elections, after federal agents raided former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property on Monday.
“When Republicans take back the House, we will conduct immediate oversight of this department, follow the facts, and leave no stone unturned,” McCarthy added.
“Attorney General Garland: preserve your documents and clear your calendar,” McCarthy said.
The only statement from CBS that I’ve been able to find is a three-tweet thread, saying that they’ve removed it because the US government told them it is wrong. They said they are going to edit it and rerelease it according to the standards of the US government.
President Joe Biden is reportedly worried about “the optics” of Democrat mayors suddenly opposing illegal immigration as Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) buses border crossers and illegal aliens to their cities.
For months, Abbott and Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey (R) have bused thousands to New York City, New York, and Washington, DC — drawing opposition from New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) and Washington, DC, Mayor Muriel Bowser (D).
While Bowser — who requested the D.C. National Guard but was turned down by the Pentagon — has described the busing of border crossers and illegal aliens as a “crisis,” Adams has called the buses arriving in his city “horrific.”
Since the leak of Justice Samuel Alito’s draft majority opinion in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case that eventually led to the overturning of Roe v. Wade, America has endured a “Summer of Rage.” The wave of demonstrations saw protesters going far beyond simply donning “Handmaid’s Tale” bonnets and gathering around the Supreme Court. There have been dozens of acts of violence, destruction, and harassment aimed at intimidating anti-abortion Christians and conservatives. In this series of articles, we identify key players, organizations, and locations in this radical movement. We will also explain elements of the interconnected system that provides organizational and/or financial support for this radical agenda.
Hoards of angry Donald Trump supporters descended on his Mar-a-Lago home last night shortly after it emerged that the FBI had searched the ex-president's estate as part of an investigation into whether he took classified records from the White House to the Florida residence.
Trump, disclosing the search in a lengthy statement, claimed that agents had opened up a safe at his home and described their work as an 'unannounced raid' that he called 'prosecutorial misconduct.'
He accused the FBI of a double standard, claiming the bureau 'allowed' Hillary Clinton to 'acid wash' 33,000 emails from her time as Secretary of State.
Those in his camp said the raid was a clear attempt to thwart a potential 2024 Presidential run.
Trump has not formally announced any campaign but speculation that he will run again is rife. It was compounded by his appearance at C-Pac this weekend.
Last night, his supporters held pro-Trump signs, including ones for a presumptive 2024 campaign and even one for Trump's previous campaign with former Vice President Mike Pence's name crossed out. One was publicly identifying as a member of the far right Proud Boys.
The FBI did not provide any comments on what the search might be for, nor did Trump give any indication of why federal agents were at his home.
But as far as Democrats were concerned, no further information was needed as to why the principal federal law enforcement agency of the country was in attendance.
Michael Cohen, who served as an attorney for Trump from 2006 to 2018 and who went to prison after admitting he covered up Trump's 'dirty deeds' led the chorus of approval, tweeting a photo of himself sitting in his car, grinning from ear to ear.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s “surprise” trip to Taiwan last week should be “Exhibit A” as to why interventionism is dangerous, deadly, and dumb. Though she claimed her visit won some sort of victory for democracy over autocracy, the stopover achieved nothing of the sort. It was a pointless gesture that brought us closer to military conflict with zero benefits.
As Col. Doug Macgregor said of Pelosi’s trip on a recent episode of Tucker Carlson Tonight, “statesmanship involves advancing American interests at the least cost to the American people. None of that is in play here. … Posturing is not statesmanship.”
Pelosi’s trip was no outlier. Such counterproductive posturing is much celebrated by both parties in Washington. Neoconservative Senators Bob Menendez and Lindsey Graham were thrilled with Pelosi’s stop in Taipei and used it as a springboard to push for new legislation that would essentially declare war on China by declaring Taiwan a “major non-NATO ally.”
The “one China” policy that, while perhaps not perfect, has kept the peace for more than 40 years is to be scrapped and replaced with one sure to provoke a war. Who benefits?
Donald Trump posted to his social media platform late Monday night an eerie apocalyptic ad calling America 'a nation in decline' - while also promising a political future for himself where he says 'the best is yet to come.'
The ad was posted to Truth Social, the former president's own alternative social media platform, just hours after his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida was raided by the FBI - reportedly as part of an investigation into whether he took classified documents with him when he left the White House.
Trump's voice narrates the video ad which opens with a jolting clap of thunder over black and white photos of America.
YESTERDAY, August 8, 2022, a date which will live in infamy the 45th President of the United States of America Donald Trump and the ‘Make America Great Again’ (MAGA) movement was suddenly and deliberately attacked by FBI forces of the democRAT Biden Usurpation.
The United States and MAGA were at peace with that Entity and, at the solicitation of democRATs, was still in conversation with its Usurpation and its Usurper in Thief looking toward the maintenance of peace in North America. Indeed, at 7pm EST after FBI thugs had commenced their invasion of the peaceful oasis of Mar-A-Lago, the Usurpation’s head of their INjustice Department delivered to MAGA and our representative (Trump) a search warrant. And while this warrant stated that they sought classified documents it was useless as the documents had been declassified over 18 months ago.
Okay I am done playing. We must now thoroughly and utterly destroy Democrats AT THE BALLOT BOX November 8, 2022, AND if you are able to do so please volunteer to work elections going forward so that the voting is “safe, legal and rare (as in one vote per person)”, with proper state-issued photo ID or Driver’s License, signature matched, and on paper. For fun ask a Democrat why local Board of Elections have all of our signatures on file if not to match against our election day signature and watch them go all deer in the headlights.
Joe Biden was eager to fondle girls and sniff hair after being cooped up for two weeks in Covid isolation at the White House.
Joe Biden arrived in Lexington, Kentucky Monday morning fresh out of Covid isolation to survey damage from the recent floods.
The death of an Arkansas judge whose body was recovered from a lake is being investigated as an accidental drowning, authorities said.
Judge Jeremiah T. Bueker went missing Saturday night and his body was recovered on Sunday morning.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that his body was found in Mud Lake in Reydell, which is just outside of Little Rock.
Maj. Gary McClain said that Bueker went missing after going for a ride on a recreational vehicle. He was spending the weekend with family at a nearby cabin, McClain said.
“It appears he decided to go swimming after maybe being dusty and he went missing,” he said. “No one was with him, he was alone.”

Former President Donald Trump said late Monday that his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, was being “raided” by a “large group of FBI agents.”
In a statement posted to his Truth Social media platform, Mr. Trump claimed the arrival of law enforcement was unannounced and politically motivated.
Mr. Trump did not provide specifics about the raid, what kind of warrant was executed or what the FBI agents were looking for. Instead, he railed against the FBI and the Justice Department, accusing them of “prosecutorial misconduct” and being a political tool.
The former president, who was not in Florida at the time of the raid, said that agents “broke into” a safe.
Moments ago, Donald Trump - who is still banned by Twitter - published a statement on Truth Social in which he said that his Florida home, Mar A Lago is “currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents", an assault which according to Trump "could only take place in broken, Third-World Countries." He is probably right. He also claims the Fed's presence was unannounced and the reason was politically motivated.
His full statement posted on his Truth Social account is below:
Statement by Donald J. Trump, 45th President of the
United States of America
These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents. Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before. After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate. It is prosecutorial misconduct, the weaponization of the Justice System, and an attack by Radical Left Democrats who desperately don't want me to run for President in 2024, especially based on recent polls, and who will likewise do anything to stop Republicans and Conservatives in the upcoming Midterm Elections. Such an assault could only take place in broken, Third-World Countries. Sadly, America has now become one of those Countries, corrupt at a level not seen before. They even broke into my safe! What is the difference between this and Watergate, where operatives broke into the Democrat National Committee? Here, in reverse, Democrats broke into the home of the 45th President of the United States.
The political persecution of President Donald J. Trump has been going on for years, with the now fully debunked Russia, Russia, Russia Scam, Impeachment Hoax #1, Impeachment Hoax #2, and so much more, it just never ends. It is political targeting at the highest level!
Hillary Clinton was allowed to delete and acid wash 33,000 E-mails AFTER they were subpoenaed by Congress. Absolutely nothing has happened to hold her accountable. She even took antique furniture, and other items from the White House.
I stood up to America's bureaucratic corruption, I restored power to the people, and truly delivered for our Country, like we have never seen before. The establishment hated it. Now, as they watch my endorsed candidates win big victories, and see my dominance in all polls, they are trying to stop me, and the Republican Party, once more. The lawlessness, political persecution, and Witch Hunt must be exposed and stopped.
I will continue to fight for the Great American People!
Philip Perry, who is married to Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney, is a partner at the same law firm representing President Joe Biden’s scandal-ridden son, Hunter.
Last week, the Daily Mail reached out to Hunter Biden’s attorney for comment on a story unearthing new details to the extent the younger Biden leveraged the family name for lucrative overseas business ventures. In 2014, the paper reported, then-Vice President Biden met with a pair of Chinese energy executives connected to Hunter Biden’s foreign business deals.
An attorney named Christopher Clark, who is listed with the firm Latham & Watkins as partner, responded to the Daily Mail’s request for comment calling the reporter a “parasite” in an otherwise nonsensical email full of typos.
The vice president’s 2014 encounter with Chinese energy tycoons marks the fifteenth such meeting with businessmen tied to Hunter Biden’s financial interests, and contradicts Biden’s repeated claims of never discussing business with his son, “or with anyone else.” The first son is currently under federal investigation for money laundering and foreign lobbying.
A rising number of Americans are saying their personal finances are getting worse under the current administration. A new Harvard-Harris poll found a majority of 56 percent of Americans said their financial situation has worsened amid President Joe Biden’s policies.
This compared to just 33 percent of respondents saying the same a year ago. In addition, only 20 percent of Americans complained about a poor economy in the final month of 45th President Donald Trump’s presidency. This comes as rents and mortgage costs are surging across the US, along with an ongoing rise in other basic living expenses.
“Many tenants saw decided decreases in their income during the pandemic, so we’re in an unfortunate situation where inflation may allow landlords to increase rent just at a time when when tenants can’t really afford it at all,” explained Cynthia Strathmnann of Strategic Actions for A Just Economy
Axios Media is being acquired by Cox Enterprises, which said Monday that it plans to push the online news provider into new markets while broadening its coverage.
Axios, citing sources, reported that the deal is worth $525 million.
Cox, a conglomerate whose other media companies include The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Dayton Daily News, first became an investor in Axios last year.
Axios co-founders and former Politico reporters Jim VandeHei, Mike Allen and Roy Schwartz will continue to hold substantial stakes in the company and will lead editorial and day-to-day business decisions.
The Axios communications software business, Axios HQ, will become an independent company majority-owned by the founders and will include Cox as sole minority investor. VandeHei will be chairman and Roy Schwartz will be its CEO.
This is the moment four teens in Minnesota crashed a stolen Kia against the median of an interstate before frantically running across traffic in an attempt to avoid arrest.
The incident may be part of a troubling TikTok trend that has promoted and instructed on ways of hotwiring Kia and Hyundai vehicles with as little as a USB cable.
Law enforcement agencies across the country have raised concerns about the trend, which began on TikTok in 2021 courtesy of a Milwaukee based group known as the 'Kia Boyz.'
The thefts generally involve Kia's newer than 2011 and Hyundai's newer than 2015. The cars typically do not have immobilizers and can be accessed through backdoors without setting off alarms.
This most recent incident occurred in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Saturday afternoon along Interstate 35E Northbound.
The landmark New York Times v. Sullivan case led to new protections against publishers who, in their criticism of government, are sued by government officials for libel. The New York Times was sued by the Montgomery, Alabama, city commissioner for errors in a civil rights advertisement. The ad got some facts wrong, including the number of times Martin Luther King Jr. was arrested. The Supreme Court established that public officials must meet a higher standard for libel judgments and show that the publisher acted with knowledge that something was false.

Russia announced on Friday that it conducted an airstrike against a group of US-backed militants in Syria near al-Tanf, a US military base located in the south of the country.
Russia said it targeted Liwa Shuhada al-Qaryatayn (ShQ), a group that has fought against the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Moscow said the Russian Aerospace Forces ” identified and destroyed” a group of ShQ militants.
“This terrorist group is based in the Al-Tanf zone, supplied and trained by instructors from the US Army Special Operations Forces,” the Russian Defense Ministry said. “Operating from the desert, the Liwa Shuhada al-Qaryatayn militants carried out acts of sabotage against the civilian population and civilian infrastructure in Syria.”
The Pentagon confirmed that the strikes took place in comments to Newsweek, but didn’t provide any details. US Central Command told Newsweek that “CENTCOM is aware of the strike, but does not have information to provide to you on this.”
Moscow has informed Washington of a “temporary withdrawal” from the inspection regime under the START nuclear disarmament treaty, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday. Citing treaty provisions for “exceptional circumstances,” Russia is saying the Western sanctions have prevented its inspectors from performing their duties, thus giving US inspectors an unfair advantage. Once the principle of parity and equality is restored, the inspections will resume, Russia said.
Moscow cited “anti-Russian unilateral restrictive measures” imposed by the US and its allies, such as visa restrictions on Russian inspectors and a ban on Russian aircraft in US and EU airspace. These restrictions effectively make Russian inspections under the treaty impossible, while the Americans “do not experience such difficulties.”
“The Russian Federation is now forced to resort to this measure as a result of Washington’s persistent desire to implicitly achieve a restart of inspection activities on conditions that do not take into account existing realities, create unilateral advantages for the United States and effectively deprive the Russian Federation of the right to carry out inspections on American soil,” the Foreign Ministry said.
Russia “raised this issue with the relevant countries, but did not receive an answer.” Until these problems are resolved, “it would be premature to resume inspection activities under the START Treaty, on which the American side insists.”
As justification for the measure, Moscow cited the relevant section of the treaty protocol that covers extraordinary circumstances. Washington has been officially informed through diplomatic channels.
The United States sees Africa’s 54 nations as “equal partners” in tackling global problems, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in South Africa Monday.
“Our strategy is rooted in the recognition that sub-Saharan Africa is a major geopolitical force — one that has shaped our past, is shaping our present, and will shape our future,” Blinken said at the University of Pretoria in a speech detailing the Biden administration’s policies for Africa.
“It’s a strategy that reflects the region’s complexity, its diversity, its agency; and one that focuses on what we will do with African nations and peoples, not for African nations and peoples,” he said.
Blinken said that the United States and African nations “can’t achieve any of our shared priorities — whether that’s recovering from the pandemic; creating broad-based economic opportunities; addressing the climate crisis; expanding energy access; revitalizing democracies; or strengthening the free and open international order — if we don’t work together, as equal partners.”
Michael Yon, a photojournalist specializing in war and a retired U.S. Army Special Forces veteran, warned Jordan Peterson of a growing “triangle of death” driven by globalist machinations: pandemics, famines, and wars.
In an interview with Peterson published last week, Yon used a neologism he coined — “PanFaWar” — synthesizing “pandemic,” “famine,” and “war” into one term. The three phenomena, he said, are mutually reinforcing and often occur as a package.
“Let’s talk about PanFaWar: pandemic, famine, war,” Yon stated. “The triangle of death. They always go together. If you get a big war or a big pandemic or a big famine, you’ll get the other two. If you get one, you get the other two. It’s three musketeers, and all of these things, any one of them creates the human osmotic pressure. So these things go together.”
Yon exposited on what he framed as a cascade of catastrophes involving disease, food shortages, and war:
