Pro-Palestine protests continue around UK for eighth weekend MikeRivero Mon, 12/04/2023 - 12:57

Pro-Palestine demonstrations in the UK have continued into the eighth successive weekend, as protesters gathered in cities and towns across the country to demand a permanent ceasefire in the besieged Gaza Strip.  

Tens of thousands of people held protests on Saturday as part of a  "Day of Actions,”  organized by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), an alternative to the larger marches seen in previous weeks. 

More demonstrations for Palestine are being held in Italy. From the north to the south of the country, hundreds of rallies have been held in solidarity with the besieged Gaza Strip over the past weeks. The latest one has taken place in the capital, Rome.

Israel has informed several Arab states that it wants to carve out a buffer zone on the Palestinian side of Gaza's border to prevent future attacks as part of proposals for the enclave after war ends, Egyptian and regional sources told Reuters.

A doctor who worked at al-Shifa hospital in Gaza during the Israeli siege and bombardment of the complex has described how Israeli troops used them as “hostages” as they invaded the hospital, and later detained the head of the hospital, along with more than 20 other medical personnel from Gaza, in what one Palestinian medic called a “war on hospitals”.
