Ben & Jerry’s has a new ‘defund the police’ flavor which will go toward defunding police

I doubt many of you are Ben & Jerry’s fans but if you are, then you should know that buying their ice cream will now support the movement to defund police and endanger our cities.

Newsmax reported that the Vermont-based ice cream company that has supported a variety of progressive causes, is launching its newest flavor to support the “Defund the Police” movement.

The company rolled out the new flavor Monday, calling it “Change is Brewing,” and said it would send a portion of the profits to help a $10 billion bill from progressive Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., that proposes hiring social workers to perform some public safety tasks previously handled by police.

The Treasury Department's lucrative revolving door

A lot of government agencies can propel their public-sector employees into high-paying private-sector gigs. Sitting squarely at the top of the list is the Treasury Department.

Why it matters: Treasury has almost unlimited financial power.

Treasury secretaries seen as being friendly to Wall Street — think Robert Rubin, Larry Summers or Tim Geithner — invariably exit to multimillion-dollar salaries in the financial sector. Steven Mnuchin has managed to do even better for himself.

Driving the news: Mnuchin has raised $2.5 billion so far for a private equity fund, including from Saudi Arabia, a country toward whom he was notably friendly while in office. If the fund is structured with a standard 2% management fee, that’s $50 million per year right there for Mnuchin and his colleagues, before they make a single penny from investment returns.

The Day The Media Turned On Biden: Psaki Grilled By 'Once Friendly' CBS

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was shocked Tuesday after CBS anchor Gayle King slammed recent "very bad behavior" by the U.S. internationally.

King said on "CBS Mornings" that "there's a lot of incoming" at the White House these days, given a recent spate of negative headlines at home and away for the Biden administration. After Psaki spoke of President Joe Biden's Tuesday address before the United Nations General Assembly as forward-looking, King added that Biden couldn't "ignore what has happened before."

"We’re still getting hammered for how the withdrawal from Afghanistan happened," King said. "Everybody knows, many people believe it was time. It’s just the way that it was done … That’s not a good look. You look at what’s happening with immigration. You look at France now saying that they’ve been betrayed by the United States. So I get that we have to look forward. But what are we doing to justify or explain what appears to be very bad behavior on our part?"

Dems In Trouble As AOC Progressives Blackmail Pelosi On Spending Bill

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) tried to reassure moderate members of her conference late Monday that they would not be required to pass a spending bill with a higher price tag than any legislation the Senate approves.

In a so-called “Dear Colleague” letter, Pelosi told her fellow Democrats that while she hoped the bill that comes to the floor will call for $3.5 trillion in spending, in accordance with the budget framework passed by the House last month, “[w]e must be prepared for adjustments”.

Pelosi has held off on bringing a $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill previously passed by the Senate up for a vote while congressional Democrats and the White House try to beat out the details of the larger proposal — which they hope to force through both chambers without Republican help through the parliamentary maneuver of reconciliation.

Moment GOP candidate for Nevada Lieutenant Governor is dragged out of meeting and shoved through a metal detector while protesting county commission's decision to declare COVID-19 misinformation a public health crisis

A GOP candidate for Nevada Lieutenant Governor was violently dragged out of a Las Vegas local government meeting and thrown through a metal detector by security after being kicked out of a COVID-19 meeting.

Cell phone footage shows the moment Mack Miller was thrown out of the Clark County Commission Office's meeting.

The committee declared in a 5-2 decision that spreading COVID-19 misinformation is a public health crisis.

Protesters at the meeting claim that this is a violation of their First Amendment rights and is pushing only one side of the agenda.

Gen. Milley Defended George Floyd Rioters in Talks With Trump – Report

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, tried to downplay the scale of the George Floyd protests in May 2020 and convince then-US President Donald Trump that the protesters were not “burning America down,” a new tell-all book “Peril” has claimed.

The general reportedly argued that major demonstrations only erupted in two cities and the number of protesters rarely exceeded 300. The George Floyd protests, staged under the Black Lives Matter (BLM) banner, would later grip almost half of the country for months, with many of them descending into riots, looting and, in one instance, result in the temporary expulsion of authorities from several city blocks in Seattle, Washington.

Gavin Newsom Signs Bills to Roll Back Single-family Zoning in California

California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed three housing bills last week after he beat back a recall effort, all aimed at rolling back local single-family zoning laws and encouraging new housing to be built, especially dense housing developments.

SB 8, SB 9, and SB 10 were all signed into law on Thursday, Sep. 16.

SB 8 overrides some local government authority to reduce the capacity of housing projects; and SB 10 promotes high-density developments in certain urban areas.

The most controversial of the three is SB 9, which would allow homeowners to split single-family lots into two, and allow them to build duplexes on each, without the approval of local authorities, and regardless of single-family zoning in those areas.

The idea is to encourage more housing units to be built, providing more supply and potentially lowering prices. However, the law is not likely to promote much new housing in urban areas like San Francisco, though it may have an impact in the suburbs.

Facebook Blocks Ad For Song Critical of Biden’s Afghanistan Withdrawal

Facebook blocked an ad that promoted a song critical of President Joe Biden's botched Afghanistan withdrawal, raising questions about how it applies its advertising rules.

The social media giant twice prohibited Five For Fighting's John Ondrasik from purchasing an ad to promote his new single "Blood On My Hands." Facebook claimed the song, which slams the Biden administration for abandoning hundreds of Americans and thousands of Afghan allies, "violated their policy on either politics or social issues." The song singles out Biden, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Mark Milley.

Poll: Trump Dominates 2024 GOP Primary, Pence Leads DeSantis in Trump-less Field

A new national 2024 GOP presidential primary poll shows former President Donald Trump with a commanding lead but also that former Vice President Mike Pence leads a Trump-less field by double digits over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Surveying 490 registered Republican voters on September 15 and 16, the poll showed Trump in a dominant position atop the GOP and Pence on the rebound atop a Trump-less field and in second place behind Trump in a field with the former president. The poll was conducted by Harvard’s Center for American Political Studies (CAPS) and Harris.

“Trump drew 58 percent support when included, compared to Pence’s 13 percent and DeSantis’ 9 percent,” reported Florida Politics. “Sans Trump, Pence secured 32 percent support, while DeSantis had just 20 percent. Pence’s margin tripled.”

Without Trump, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) stood in third place at just 14 percent.

Abolish the FBI

In ignoring the latest John Durham indictment, most of the media and official Washington are ignoring the elephant between its written lines: the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Mr. Durham, the special counsel appointed to investigate the government’s handling of the Russia collusion mess, levels a single criminal charge against Michael Sussmann, then a lawyer for the Democrat-linked firm Perkins Coie. In delivering to the FBI fanciful evidence of Trump-Russia collusion a few weeks before the 2016 election, Mr. Sussmann is alleged to have lied to the FBI’s chief lawyer, James Baker, claiming he was acting on his own behalf and not as a paid agent of the Clinton campaign.

With Clinton Lawyer Charged, The Russiagate Scam Is Now Under Indictment

In accusing Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann of lying to the FBI, Special Counsel John Durham offers new evidence of the fabrications behind the Trump-Russia conspiracy theory.

The indictment of Hillary Clinton attorney Michael Sussmann offers new evidence that the Trump-Russia conspiracy theory that engulfed Trump’s term in office was itself the product of fabrications involving Clinton’s 2016 campaign.

Although Sussmann faces just one count on a false statement charge, the 27-page charging document offers an expansive window into how the Russiagate scam began, and how Democratic operatives, intelligence officials, and establishment media figures dishonestly fed it to the public.

Inventing a Trump-Russia “narrative” to “please” Democratic “VIPs”
Sussmann, until recently an attorney with Clinton campaign law firm Perkins Coie, is the second person to be charged by John Durham, the Special Counsel scrutinizing the Russia investigation.

Milley's Calls To Chinese General Could Have Jeopardized US National Security: Former Military Officials

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mark Milley, could have jeopardized the national security of the United States in allegedly secret calls to Gen. Li Zuocheng of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA), according to former U.S. military officers. Milley also overstepped his own authority while allegedly discussing the launch of nuclear weapons with senior military officials, they say.

Endangering National Security

According to a new book titled, “Peril,” Milley called Li once in October 2020 and another time on Jan. 8 to assure him that the United States wouldn’t attack the Chinese Communist Party, and if it was poised to attack, he would alert his counterpart.

“General Li, you and I have known each other for now five years. If we’re going to attack, I’m going to call you ahead of time. It’s not going to be a surprise,” Milley reportedly said.

Sens McConnell, Shelby Offer Short-Term Govt. Funding Bill Without Debt Ceiling

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) on Sept. 21 offered a competing short-term government funding bill, just as House Democrats passed a stopgap measure that also suspends the debt limit until after the 2022 election.

The bill from McConnell and Shelby does not include a debt ceiling suspension, as Republicans have urged Democrats—the majority party—to raise the $28.4 trillion debt ceiling themselves through reconciliation, a special parliamentary procedure that would expedite the passage of a budgetary measure through the Senate.

[ZH: The introduction of the bill likely increases the probability of no Senate deal, and for now, the market is tending to agree as debt ceiling anxiety has not eased at all]

Durham Insider Says Massive Lawsuit Underway

A former top House Intelligence Committee investigator instrumental in revealing secrets behind the "Russiagate" controversy suggested the latest grand jury indictment in special counsel John Durham's inquiry offers a view into a broader charge that may follow in the future.

Kash Patel, who previously held high-ranking positions in the Trump administration, told Fox News on Monday he believes a "very well-laid out" conspiracy charge is in the making that will envelop people in and around Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign.

The indictment, returned by a grand jury last week, accuses Michael Sussmann, a former attorney from law firm Perkins Coie, of falsely telling the FBI's top lawyer he was not representing any clients when acting on behalf of a technology executive and the Clinton campaign during a Sept. 2016 meeting in which he shared a tip about a secret electronic channel between former President Donald Trump's company and Russia's Alfa bank.

Indictment of Campaign Lawyer Demonstrates How Hillary Clinton Is The Most Systemically Manipulative Politician Of Our Lifetime.

The Indictment of Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussman for allegedly lying to the FBI has a lot of people grumbling about how long it took prosecutor John Durham to finally come up with an indictment of someone with regard to the Russia collusion hoax. And even then, while Sussman was an important lawyer at an important Democrat operative law firm, his indictment has a “that’s it?” feel to it.

But, the 27-page Indictment is a wealth of information, and hopefully a roadmap to wider and more substantial prosecutions (you can’t take my hope away!). What the indictment demonstrates is that the Russia collusion claim leveled against Donald Trump and the Trump campaign was a fabrication of Hillary Clinton operatives who peddled the fraud to the media and FBI, allowing Clinton to use the media reports in the campaign against Trump.

Dems Flail Over Pharma Cash And Drug Pricing Vote

Conservative Democratic Reps. Scott Peters (Calif.) and Kurt Schrader (Ore.) have been defending their huge hauls of campaign cash from the pharmaceutical industry since announcing their opposition to House Democrats’ wildly popular plan to reduce drug prices. Meanwhile, another Democratic lawmaker, Rep. Kathleen Rice (N.Y.), has completely flipped her reasoning for why she voted against the measure.

Last week, Schrader, Peters, and Rice used their seats on the House Energy and Commerce Committee to try to block House Democrats from allowing Medicare to use its bulk purchasing power to negotiate lower prescription drug prices as part of the party’s $3.5 trillion infrastructure reconciliation effort. The proposal has support from 90 percent of registered voters in their districts, according to a recent poll by Data For Progress.

Sinema Threat Followed Boost From Pharma Group

A dark money group funded by drugmakers launched ads promoting Sen. Sinema’s threat to kill the legislation came despite a recent poll showing more than 80 percent of Arizonans support the Democrats’ proposal.

During her career, Sinema has raked in more than $500,000 from donors in the pharmaceutical and health products industries — and she is now the sixth largest Senate Democratic recipient of campaign cash from those industries this election cycle, according to data compiled by OpenSecrets.

Misguided Petition Demanding Permanent Monthly $2,000 Stimulus Checks Nears Huge Milestone

EXCLUSIVE: Durham Indictment Shows Clinton Likely Worked With Top Google Exec To Fabricate Russia Hoax, Says Google Whistleblower

In the bombshell felony indictment made public this week, Special Prosecutor John Durham alleged that agents of the 2016 Clinton campaign knowingly concocted false allegations that President Donald Trump was receiving secret hi-tech communications from the Kremlin-linked Alfa Bank. The Durham indictment further alleged that Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann intentionally spread that hoax to the FBI, Democrat-friendly media and another undisclosed federal agency under false pretenses.

Moreover, the Durham indictment identifies the mastermind of the operation to create spread and spread the Alfa Bank Hoax as a Big Tech executive, who allegedly “exploited” privately-held data of several large tech companies to create a false “narrative” about Trump-Russia collusion. This person may be Eric Schmidt, the former Executive Chairman of Alphabet, the parent company of Google.

Nancy Pelosi, Estimated To Be Worth $114 Million, Says Capitalism Has "Not Served Us Well" And "Needs Improving"

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband must not be having the success with his daytrades that he once was. Otherwise, we can't think of any other reason for Pelosi to come out last Friday and state in London that capitalism "has not served" the U.S. economy as well as it should.

“In America, capitalism is our system, it is our economic system, but it has not served our economy as well as it should,” Pelosi said according to WaPo.

“So what we want to do is not depart from that, but to improve it and to make sure that it serves us.”

The statement is ridiculous on a number of levels, not the least of which is that Pelosi and her husband have been partaking in the system - exactly as it exists today - by executing meaningful options trades in U.S. listed public companies, many of which have had "interestingly timed" runs of fortune since Pelosi's involvement.

DALLAS FED PRESIDENT TRADED S&P 500 FUTURES. DALLAS FED WILL NOT SAY IF HE SHORTED THE MARKET DURING PANDEMIC CRISIS IN 2020.

A transaction that has been missed by major news outlets on the financial disclosure form for Dallas Fed President, Robert Kaplan, is a line item showing that Kaplan made “multiple” trades of more than $1 million in S&P 500 futures.
This is a stunning revelation for a multitude of reasons. First, Kaplan’s financial disclosure form shows that he already had exposure to the S&P 500 through more than $1 million in an S&P 500 Exchange Traded Fund (ETF), which trades during regular stock market hours.

Using S&P 500 futures gave Kaplan access to making directional bets on where the market would go after the stock market closed, which is typically when the Fed makes market-moving announcements.

The most popular and liquid S&P 500 futures contract is the E-mini S&P 500. A person can get as much as 95 percent leverage on this contract – far more than the 50 percent leverage that is available for stock trades.

Leaks to the news media from a new book, Peril, by Bob Woodward and Robert Costa on the last weeks of the Trump administration are generating a firestorm of controversy, especially regarding the conduct of Gen. Another revelation – that Milley obtained an agreement from other top military commanders affirming that they would not execute orders from the White House unless Milley explicitly confirmed those orders – has not received the attention it deserves. Both actions have major, troubling implications for civilian control of the military, but the latter allegation actually may be the more worrisome of the two.

Politics and the Politicization of the US Military

Americans traditionally have been wary of a large permanent military establishment, believing it to be a threat to democratic institutions. This attitude goes all the way back to the Founding Fathers who deliberately kept the army small, preferring to rely on local militia in case of an emergency. This was done to prevent the army from being used to repress the rights of any individual state during the long and ongoing battle over the issue of states’ rights; the echoes of which still reverberate to this very day. The past nine months’ events show how wise this attitude was.

During major conflicts, such as the Civil War and the two World Wars, the military would expand exponentially, only to revert to the size of a constabulary force when hostilities ended. This lasted until the end of the Cold War when our newly established rivalry with the Soviet Bloc compelled us to maintain a large standing military force.

Report: Kyrsten Sinema Issues Joe Biden Ultimatum, Demands House Vote on Senate-Passed $1.2 Trillion Infrastructure Bill by September 27 or No $3.5 Trillion Bill

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) has reportedly demanded House Speaker Pelosi (D-CA) honors her promise of commencing a vote for the Senate-passed $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill on or before September 27. If the House fails to pass the bill by the deadline, Sinema will reportedly not support President Joe Biden’s $3.5 trillion Trojan horse reconciliation package.

Sinema told Biden Wednesday, as Politico Playbook reported, that “if the House delays its scheduled Sept. 27 vote on the bipartisan infrastructure plan — or if the vote fails — she won’t be backing a reconciliation bill.” Neither the White House nor Sinema confirmed the account, saying the negotiations are “private.”

Along with Sinema, Rep. Kurt Schrader (D-OR) has also told Pelosi he will mirror Sinema’s demands in the House. “If they delay the vote — or it goes down — then I think you can kiss reconciliation goodbye,” Schrader explained to Playbook. “Reconciliation would be dead.”
